¹¹ He who loves pureness of heart, grace is on his lips; the king shall be his friend.

³⁹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Since God has taught you all this, there is no one wise and intelligent like you. ⁴⁰ You shall be over my house, and at your mouth all my people shall kiss the hand . Only in respect to the throne will I be greater than you. ⁴¹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt. ⁴² And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand and put it on the hand of Joseph; and he clothed him with fine linen robes, and put a golden chain on his neck. ⁴³ And he caused him to ride in a chariot which was the second to him. And they cried before him, Bow the knee! And he put him over all the land of Egypt. ⁴⁴ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without a word from you not a man shall lift his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt. ⁴⁵ And Pharaoh called Joseph by the name of Zaphnath-paaneah. And He gave him Asenath the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, for a wife. And Joseph went out over the land of Egypt. ⁴⁶ And Joseph was a son of thirty years as he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the face of Pharaoh and passed over in all the land of Egypt. ⁴⁷ And the land produced by handfuls in the seven years of plenty ⁴⁸ And he gathered all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and he put food in the cities. The food of the field of the city which was around it, he put in the middle of it. ⁴⁹ And Joseph heaped up grain like the sand of the sea, exceedingly much, until he ceased to count it, because it was without number. ⁵⁰ And two sons were born to Joseph before the year of the famine came in, whom Asenath the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bore to him. ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the first born Manasseh; for he said, God has made me forget all my toil, and all the house of my father. ⁵² And the name of the second he called Ephraim; for he said, God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction. ⁵³ And the seven years of plenty which were in the land of Egypt were ended. ⁵⁴ And the seven years of famine began to come, according as Joseph had said. And the famine was in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. ⁵⁵ And all the land of Egypt hungered and the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. And Pharaoh said to all Egypt, Go to Joseph; what he says to you, do. ⁵⁶ And the famine was on the face of all the land. And Joseph opened all which was in them, and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine was strong in the land of Egypt. ⁵⁷ And all the earth came to Egypt to buy, to Joseph. For the famine was strong in all the earth.

⁶ this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah the God of Israel had given. And the king granted him all he asked, according to the hand of Jehovah his God on him. ⁷ And of the sons of Israel went up some of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the temple-slaves to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king. ⁸ And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, in the seventh year of the king. ⁹ For on the first of the first month, he laid the foundation in order to go up from Babylon, and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of God on him. ¹⁰ For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of Jehovah, and to do it, and to teach statutes and judgments in Israel. ¹¹ And this is the copy of the letter which the king, Artaxerxes, gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commands of Jehovah, and of His statutes to Israel:

⁴ Then the king said to me, For what do you ask? So I prayed to the God of Heaven, ⁵ and I said to the king, If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you would send me to Judah to the city of my fathers' tombs, so that I might build it. ⁶ And the king said to me, the queen also sitting beside him, For how long shall your journey be? And when will you return? So it pleased the king, and he sent me; and I set him a time.

³ For Mordecai the Jew was second to king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and pleasing to the multitude of his brothers, seeking the welfare of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

² You are the fairest of the sons of man; grace has poured into Your lips; on this account God has blessed You forever.

⁶ My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, so that they may dwell with me; he who walks in a perfect way shall serve me.

³⁵ The king's favor is toward a servant who acts prudently, but his wrath takes place on one causing shame.

¹³ Righteous lips are the kings' delight, and he speaking uprightly is loved.

⁴⁶ Then king Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel. And he commanded an offering, even to offer incense to him. ⁴⁷ The king answered Daniel and said, Your God truly is a God of gods and a Lord of kings, and a Revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret. ⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel great and gave many great gifts to him. And he made him ruler over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the prefects over all the wise men of Babylon. ⁴⁹ And Daniel asked of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

²⁰ And when he came to the den, he cried with a grieved voice to Daniel. The king spoke and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, your God whom you always serve, is He able to deliver you from the lions? ²¹ Then Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever. ²² My God has sent His Angel, and He has shut the mouths of the lions. And they have not hurt me, because in His sight purity was found in me. And also before you, O king, I have done no harm. ²³ Then the king was exceedingly happy for him. And he commanded to bring up Daniel from the den. And Daniel was brought out of the den, and no harm was found on him, because he trusted in his God.

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.

²² And all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words coming out of His mouth. And they said, Is this not the son of Joseph?
