¹ A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches; rather than silver or gold, favor is better. ² The rich and poor meet together, Jehovah is the Maker of all of them. ³ A sensible one sees the evil and hides himself, but the simple go on and are punished. ⁴ The reward of humility is the fear of Jehovah, riches, and honor, and life. ⁵ Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse, he who keeps his soul shall be far from them. ⁶ Train up a boy on the opening of his way, even when he is old, he will not turn aside from it. ⁷ The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to a man who lends. ⁸ He who sows injustice will reap evil, and the rod of his wrath shall fail. ⁹ He who has a good eye, he is blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor. ¹⁰ Throw the scorner out and strife shall go out; yea, quarrels and shame shall cease. ¹¹ He who loves pureness of heart, grace is on his lips; the king shall be his friend. ¹² The eyes of Jehovah keep knowledge, and He overthrows the words of the treacherous. ¹³ The lazy one says, A lion is outside! I will be killed in the streets! ¹⁴ The mouth of alien women is a deep pit; those despised by Jehovah shall fall there. ¹⁵ Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a boy, the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. ¹⁶ One oppresses the poor to multiply for himself, another gives to the rich, only to come to poverty. ¹⁷ Stretch your ear and hear the words of the wise, and set your heart to My knowledge, ¹⁸ for they are pleasant when you keep them within you; they shall all be fixed together on your lips, ¹⁹ So that your trust may be in Jehovah. I caused you to know today, even you. ²⁰ Have I not written to you the third time with counsels and knowledge, ²¹ to cause you to know the verity of the words of truth, to return words of truth to those who send you? ²² Rob not the poor because he is poor, and oppress not the afflicted in the gate. ²³ For Jehovah will contend for their cause, and will plunder the soul of their plunderers. ²⁴ Do not feed a possessor of anger, and do not go in with a man of fury, ²⁵ lest you learn his ways and take a snare for your soul. ²⁶ Do not be one of those who strike the palm, those who are sureties for loans. ²⁷ If you have nothing to repay, why should he take away your bed from under you? ²⁸ Do not move the old landmark which your fathers have set. ²⁹ Do you see a man who is prompt in his work? He shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before obscure men .

⁴⁷ And also the king's servants have come in to bless our lord, king David, saying, Your God shall make the name of Solomon better than your name, and his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself on the bed.

¹ A good name is better than good ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

²⁰ But stop rejoicing in this, that the evil spirits submit to you. But rather rejoice that your names are written in Heaven.

¹⁰ and plucked him out from all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh appointed him governor over Egypt and all his household.

³ And I also ask you, true yoke-fellow, help those who struggled along with me and with Clement in the gospel, and the rest, fellow-workers with me, whose names are in the Scroll of Life.

³⁹ And having obtained witness through the faith, these all did not obtain the promise,

⁷ Jehovah brings down, and He gives riches; He brings low; yea, He lifts up high.

¹⁵ Did not He who made me in the belly make him? And did not One shape us in the womb?

¹⁹ How much less to Him who does not lift up the face of rulers, nor regard the rich before the poor; for all of them are the work of His hands.

¹ To the chief musician, A Psalm for the Sons of Korah. Hear this all peoples listen, all inhabitants of the world. ² Both sons of mankind and sons of man together, rich and poor:

³¹ He who oppresses the poor curses his Maker, but he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.

¹³ The poor and the injurious man meet together. Jehovah enlightens the eyes of both.

¹⁹ And there was a certain rich man; and he was accustomed to don a purple robe and fine linen, making merry in luxury day by day. ²⁰ And there was a certain poor one named Lazarus who had been laid at his porch, being plagued by sores,

²¹ And the eye is not able to say to the hand, I have no need of you; or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

² For if a gold-fingered man in splendid clothing comes into your synagogue, and a poor one in shabby clothing also comes in; ³ and you look on the one wearing the splendid clothing, and say to him, You sit here comfortably; and to the poor one you say, You stand there, or, Sit here under my footstool; ⁴ did you not also make a difference among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? ⁵ Hear, my beloved brothers, did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to the ones loving Him?

²⁰ Of the servants of Pharaoh, the one who feared the word of Jehovah made his slaves and his livestock flee to the houses. ²¹ And the one who did not set his heart on the word of Jehovah left his slaves and his livestock in the field.

⁷ and I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the sons a young man lacking heart,

²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter; or as one in fetters goes to the correction of a fool, ²³ until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul.

¹⁶ The simple one, let him turn in here; and to the one lacking heart, she says to him: ¹⁷ Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. ¹⁸ But he does not know that the departed spirits are there; her guests are in the depths of hell.

¹⁶ The wise fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is sure.

¹² A sensible man sees the evil and hides himself; the simple go on and are punished.

¹ A man who hardens his neck when reproved shall be suddenly broken, and there will be no healing.

²⁰ Come, My people, go in your rooms and shut your doors behind you. Hide for a little moment, until the fury passes. ²¹ For, behold, Jehovah comes out of His place to visit his iniquity on the dweller of the earth. The earth shall also reveal her blood, and shall no more cover over her slain ones.

¹⁵ Then when you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (the one reading, let him understand), Dan. 11:31; 12:11 ¹⁶ then let those in Judea flee on the mountains; ¹⁷ the one on the housetop, let him not come down to take anything out of his house; ¹⁸ and the one in the field, let him not turn back to take his garment.

² For you yourselves know accurately the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they say, Peace and safety! Then suddenly destruction comes upon them, like travail to the pregnant woman, and they shall not at all escape. ⁴ But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ You are all sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness. ⁶ So then, we should not sleep, as the rest also do, but we should watch and be sober.

¹⁸ that through two unchangeable things, in which it was not possible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, those having fled to lay hold on the hope set before us,

⁷ Being warned by God about the things not yet having been seen, moved with fear, by faith Noah prepared an ark for the salvation of his house; through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness according to faith.

⁹ Fear Jehovah, His holy ones, for they who fear Him lack nothing. ¹⁰ The young lions have lacked and been hungry; but they who seek Jehovah shall not lack any good thing.

¹ Praise Jehovah! Blessed is the man who fears Jehovah, delighting greatly in His commands. ² His seed shall be mighty on the earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed; ³ wealth and riches in his house; and his righteousness is standing forever.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; riches and honor in her left hand.

²¹ He who pursues righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honor.

⁶ And He will be the security of your times, strength of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of Jehovah is His treasure.

¹⁵ For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, and His name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble of spirit; to make live the spirit of the humble and to make live the heart of the contrite ones.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

⁸ For bodily exercise is profitable to a little, but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the present life and of that coming.

⁶ But He gives greater grace. Because of this it says, "God sets Himself against proud ones, but He gives grace to humble ones." Prov. 3:34

¹⁰ Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

¹³ know certainly that Jehovah your God shall not continue to expel these nations from before you, and they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which Jehovah your God has given you.

⁸ For he is sent into a net by his own feet; and he is walking on a snare;

⁶ He shall rain snares on the wicked; fire and brimstone and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

²⁶ with the pure, You reveal Yourself as pure; and with the crooked, You appear perverse; ²⁷ for You will save an afflicted people, but will bring down haughty eyes.

¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the shade of the Almighty.

³ He who guards his mouth keeps his life; he who opens his lips wide is ruined.

¹⁵ Good sense gives grace, but the way of traitors is ever flowing.

¹⁹ The way of the lazy one is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is exalted.

¹⁷ The way of the upright is to turn away from evil, he keeping his soul watches his way.

¹⁶ He who keeps the commandment keeps his own soul, he who despises His ways shall die.

¹⁸ We know that everyone having been born of God does not sin, but the one born of God keeps himself, and the evil does not touch him.

²⁰ But you, beloved, building yourselves up by your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, eagerly awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to everlasting life.

¹⁹ For I have known him, so that whatever he may command his sons and his house after him, even they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the intent that Jehovah may bring on Abraham that which He has spoken of him.

⁹ Only, take heed to yourself and keep your soul carefully, that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen; and that they not depart from your heart all the days of your life. And you shall make them known to your sons, and to your sons':

⁷ And you shall teach them to your sons, and shall speak of them as you sit in your house, and as you walk in the way, and as you are lying down, and as you are rising up.

²⁸ And I also have loaned him to Jehovah; all the days which he shall be, he is loaned to Jehovah. And he worshiped there before Jehovah.

²⁶ And the boy Samuel went on, growing both in stature and in good looks, both with Jehovah and also with men.

² And now, behold, the king is walking before you, but I am old and gray. And, behold, my sons, they are with you. And I have walked before your face from my youth until this day. ³ Behold, I am here! Testify against me before Jehovah and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I offended? Whom have I abused, and from whose hand have I taken a bribe that I might hide my eyes with it; and I will give back to you.

³ those which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their sons; to declare to the coming generation the praises of Jehovah; yea, His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. ⁵ For he raised a testimony in Jacob, and set a law in Israel; which he commanded our fathers, to teach them to their sons; ⁶ So that a coming generation may know; sons shall be born; they shall rise up and tell their sons,

⁴ And fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

¹⁵ and that from a babe you know the Holy Scriptures, those being able to make you wise to salvation through belief in Christ Jesus.

¹ And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets had cried to Elisha, saying, My husband, your servant, is dead. And you know that your servant has seen Jehovah. And the lender has come to take my two children to himself for slaves.

⁴ And some were saying, We have borrowed silver for the king's tax, on our fields, and our vineyards, ⁵ yet now our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers; as their sons, so are our sons; and, behold, we are bringing our sons and our daughters into bondage, to be slaves; yea, there are some of our daughters brought into bondage. And there is no power for our hand, and our fields and our vineyards are to other men.

²³ The poor speak with entreaties, but the rich answer fiercely.

¹⁶ One oppresses the poor to multiply for himself, another gives to the rich, only to come to poverty.

²² Rob not the poor because he is poor, and oppress not the afflicted in the gate.

² And as it is with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with the master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.

⁶ So says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn back from it, for they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals,

¹ Hear this word, cows of Bashan who are in the mountain of Samaria, who press down the helpless, who crush the poor, who say to their husbands, Bring in, that we may drink.

¹¹ So, because of your trampling on the poor, and you take tribute of grain from him. You have built houses of hewn stones, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted desirable vineyards, but you shall not drink wine from them. ¹² For I know your many transgressions, and your many sins: afflicting the just, taking of a bribe, and turning aside the poor in the gate.

⁴ Hear this, you who swallow up the poor, even to make the humble of the land to cease,

⁶ in order to buy the helpless with silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals, and sell the chaff of the wheat?

²⁵ But he not having any to pay, the lord commanded him to be sold, also his wife and children, and all things, as much as he had, even to pay back.

⁶ But you dishonored the poor one. Do not the rich ones oppress you, and they drag you to judgment seats?

¹ Come now, rich ones, weep, howling over your hardships coming on.

⁴ Behold, the wages of the workmen who have reaped your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of the ones who have reaped have entered "into the ears of the Lord of Hosts." Isa. 5:9

⁸ As I have seen, the ones who plow iniquity and sow misery reap the same.

³ For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the lot of the righteous; that the righteous not put forth their hands to evil.

³ A rod of pride is in the mouth of a fool, but the lips of the wise shall keep them.

⁴ For You have broken his burdensome yoke and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his taskmaster, as in the day of Midian.

⁵ Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger! And My fury is the staff in their hand.

²⁹ Do not rejoice, O Philistia, all of you, for the rod of your striking is broken, because a viper comes forth from the root of a snake, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

³¹ For through the voice of Jehovah, Assyria shall be crushed, the rod with which He strikes.

⁷ For they sow the wind, and they reap the whirlwind. He has no stalk; the bud shall make no flour. If it does make it, strangers will swallow it up.

¹³ You have plowed wickedness; you have reaped iniquity. You have eaten the fruit of lies because you trusted in your way, in the multitude of your mighty men.

⁷ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man may sow, that he also will reap. ⁸ For the one sowing to his flesh will reap corruption of the flesh. But the one sowing to the Spirit will reap everlasting life from the Spirit.

⁷ If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God is giving to you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your needy brother. ⁸ But you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him enough for his need in that which he lacks. ⁹ Beware that there is no evil thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release draws near; and your eye be evil against your needy brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to Jehovah against you and it be sin to you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because Jehovah your God will bless you for this thing, in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to. ¹¹ For the poor will never cease from the midst of the land. On account of this I command you, saying, You shall surely open your hand to your poor and needy brother in your land.

⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not have ventured to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil against the husband of her bosom, and against her son, and against her daughter;

¹⁶ If I have withheld from the desire of the poor, or I have caused the widow's eyes to fail, ¹⁷ or have eaten my bit alone, and the orphan has not eaten it, ¹⁸ for from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, and from my mother's womb I guided her. ¹⁹ If I have seen any perish for lack of clothing, or there was no covering for the needy; ²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me, and he warmed himself with the fleece of my flock;

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who acts wisely toward the poor; Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil. ² Jehovah will watch over him and keep him alive; he shall be blessed on the earth, and You will not deliver him to the soul of his enemies. ³ Jehovah will uphold him on the couch of sickness; You change all his bed in his sickness.

⁹ He has scattered; he has given to the needy; his righteousness is standing forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor.

²⁵ The blessed soul will be made fat; he who waters will also drink fully.

¹⁷ He who has pity on the poor lends to Jehovah, and He will reward his dealing to him.

¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he himself shall also call, and shall not be answered.

¹ Send out your bread on the face of the waters, for you shall find it in many days. ² Give a share to seven, or even to eight; for you do not know what evil may be on the earth.

⁸ But the noble one devises noble things; and he shall rise by noble things.

⁷ Is it not to break your bread to the hungry, that you should bring the wandering poor home? When will you see the naked and cover him; and you will not hide yourself from your flesh? ⁸ Then your light shall break as the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Jehovah shall gather you. ⁹ Then you shall call, and Jehovah will answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, Here I am . If you put the yoke away from among you, the sending out of the finger, and the speaking of vanity; ¹⁰ and if you let out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then your light shall rise in the darkness, and your gloom shall be as the noonday. ¹¹ And Jehovah shall always guide you, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and support your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. ¹² And those who come of you shall build the old ruins; you shall rear the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to live in.

¹⁵ Or is it not lawful for me to do what I desire with my things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?

³⁴ Then the King will say to those on His right, Come, the blessed of My Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. ³⁵ For I hungered, and you gave Me food to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in; ³⁶ naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and fed You; or thirsting, and gave You drink? ³⁸ And when did we see You a stranger, and took You in; or naked, and clothed You ? ³⁹ And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You? ⁴⁰ And answering, the King will say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of these, the least of My brothers, you did it to Me.

²² thefts, greedy desires, iniquities, deceit, lustful desires, a wicked eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be much; and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the unthankful and evil ones. ³⁶ Therefore, be merciful, even as your Father also is merciful. ³⁷ Judge not, and in no way be judged. Do not condemn, and in no way you will be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. ³⁸ Give, and good measure will be given to you, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, they will give into your bosom. For the same measure which you measure, it will be measured back to you.

¹³ But when you make a banquet, call the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;

³⁵ I showed you all things, that working in this way we ought to help those being weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹ But, brothers, we make known to you the grace of God which has been given among the churches of Macedonia, ² that in much testing of trouble, the overflowing of their joy and the depth of their poverty abounded to the riches of their generosity.

⁶ And this: the one sowing sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one sowing on hope of blessings will also reap on blessings. ⁷ Each one as he purposes in his heart, not out of grief or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. Prov. 22:8 ⁸ And God is able to make all grace to abound toward you, that in everything, always having all self sufficiency, you may abound to every good work; ⁹ even as it has been written, "He scattered, he gave to the poor, his righteousness abides forever." Psa. 112:9 ¹⁰ Now He that supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating, may He supply and multiply your seed and increase the fruits of your righteousness, ¹¹ in everything you being enriched to all generosity, which works out thanksgiving to God through us.

¹⁸ to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to share, generous, ¹⁹ treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the coming age, that they may lay hold on everlasting life.

¹⁰ For God is not unjust, to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed to His name, ministering to the saints, and now are ministering.

¹⁶ But do not be forgetful of doing good and sharing, for God is well pleased with such sacrifices.

⁹ Be hospitable to one another without murmurings,

⁹ And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, he whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. ¹⁰ And she said to Abraham, Drive away this slave-girl and her son, for the son of this slave-girl shall not inherit with my son, with Isaac.

¹ And it happened, when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry, and it was greatly enraging to him, and he mocked the Jews. ² And he spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they forsake themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they make an end in a day? ²⁸ And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. And I chased him from me.

⁵ Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, I will cut him off; I will not endure him who has high eyes and a proud heart.

⁶ A fool's lips enter into strife, and his mouth calls for strokes.

²⁴ Proud, haughty scorner is his name, he who deals in proud wrath.

²⁰ The fire goes out where there is no wood, so the strife ceases where there is no whisperer. ²¹ As coal to burning embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

¹⁷ But if he fails to hear them, tell it to the church. And if he also fails to hear the church, let him be to you as the nations and the tax collector.

⁵ to deliver such a one to Satan for destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. ⁶ Your boast is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens all the lump?

¹³ But God will judge the ones outside. "And you shall put out the evil one from you." Deut. 17:7

³⁹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Since God has taught you all this, there is no one wise and intelligent like you. ⁴⁰ You shall be over my house, and at your mouth all my people shall kiss the hand . And the famine was strong in the land of Egypt. ⁵⁷ And all the earth came to Egypt to buy, to Joseph. For the famine was strong in all the earth.

⁶ this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah the God of Israel had given. And the king granted him all he asked, according to the hand of Jehovah his God on him. ⁷ And of the sons of Israel went up some of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the temple-slaves to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king. ⁸ And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, in the seventh year of the king. ⁹ For on the first of the first month, he laid the foundation in order to go up from Babylon, and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of God on him. ¹⁰ For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of Jehovah, and to do it, and to teach statutes and judgments in Israel. ¹¹ And this is the copy of the letter which the king, Artaxerxes, gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commands of Jehovah, and of His statutes to Israel:

⁴ Then the king said to me, For what do you ask? So I prayed to the God of Heaven, ⁵ and I said to the king, If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you would send me to Judah to the city of my fathers' tombs, so that I might build it. ⁶ And the king said to me, the queen also sitting beside him, For how long shall your journey be? And when will you return? So it pleased the king, and he sent me; and I set him a time.

³ For Mordecai the Jew was second to king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and pleasing to the multitude of his brothers, seeking the welfare of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

² You are the fairest of the sons of man; grace has poured into Your lips; on this account God has blessed You forever.

⁶ My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, so that they may dwell with me; he who walks in a perfect way shall serve me.

³⁵ The king's favor is toward a servant who acts prudently, but his wrath takes place on one causing shame.

¹³ Righteous lips are the kings' delight, and he speaking uprightly is loved.

⁴⁶ Then king Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel. And he commanded an offering, even to offer incense to him. ⁴⁷ The king answered Daniel and said, Your God truly is a God of gods and a Lord of kings, and a Revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret. ⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel great and gave many great gifts to him. And he made him ruler over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the prefects over all the wise men of Babylon. ⁴⁹ And Daniel asked of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

²⁰ And when he came to the den, he cried with a grieved voice to Daniel. The king spoke and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, your God whom you always serve, is He able to deliver you from the lions? ²¹ Then Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever. ²² My God has sent His Angel, and He has shut the mouths of the lions. And they have not hurt me, because in His sight purity was found in me. And also before you, O king, I have done no harm. ²³ Then the king was exceedingly happy for him. And he commanded to bring up Daniel from the den. And Daniel was brought out of the den, and no harm was found on him, because he trusted in his God.

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.

²² And all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words coming out of His mouth. And they said, Is this not the son of Joseph?

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the earth in order to be strong for those with their heart perfect toward Him. You have acted foolishly in this. For this reason, from now on there shall be wars with you.

¹² breaking the plots of the crafty, nor did their hands perform the undertaking. ¹³ He takes the wise in their craftiness, and the counsel of the wily ones is hastened.

¹⁹ So they shall fear Jehovah's name from the sunset, and His glory from the sunrise. When the foe comes like a flood, the Spirit of Jehovah shall cause him to flee. ²⁰ And the Redeemer comes to Zion, and to those in Jacob who turn from transgression, declares Jehovah. ²¹ As for Me, this is My covenant with them, says Jehovah: My Spirit who is on you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your seed, or out of the mouth of your seed's seed, from now on and forever, says Jehovah.

¹⁶ And answering, Simon Peter said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. ¹⁷ And answering, Jesus said to him, Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven. ¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against her.

³⁹ But if it is from God, you will not be able to destroy it, lest you be found even fighters against God.

⁹ But a certain man named Simon had long been conjuring in the city and amazing the nation of Samaria, claiming himself to be some great one. ¹⁰ All were paying attention to him, from small to great, saying, This one is the power of God, which is great. ¹¹ And they were paying attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his conjuring. ¹² But when they believed Philip preaching the gospel, the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

²³ And instantly an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give the glory to God. And having been eaten by worms, his soul went out. ²⁴ But the Word of God grew and increased.

⁸ But Elymas, the conjurer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. ⁹ But Saul, who is also Paul, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and looking intently on him, ¹⁰ he said, O son of the Devil, full of all guile and of all cunning, enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun until a time. And instantly a mist and darkness fell on him, and going about he sought some to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then seeing the thing happening, the proconsul believed, being astounded at the doctrine of the Lord.

⁸ And then "the Lawless One" will be revealed, "whom" "the Lord" "will consume" "by the spirit of His mouth," and He will bring to nought by the brightness of His presence. Isa. 11:4

⁸ But in the way Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so also these withstand the truth, men having been corrupted in mind, found worthless as to the faith. ⁹ But they will not go further, for their foolishness will be plain to all, as also that of those became.

³ And I will give to My two witnesses, and they will prophesy a thousand, two hundred and sixty days, dressed in sackcloth. ⁴ These are the two olive trees, and the two lampstands, standing before the God of the earth. ⁵ And if anyone desires to harm them, fire comes out of their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone desires to harm them, so it is right for him to be killed. ⁶ These have the authority to shut up the heaven, that no rain may rain in the days of their prophecy. And they have authority over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire. ⁷ And when they complete their witness, the beast coming up out of the abyss will make war with them, and will overcome them, and will kill them. ⁸ And their bodies will be on the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom, and Egypt, where our Lord was crucified. ⁹ And some from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will see their dead bodies three days and a half; and they do not allow their dead bodies to be put in tombs. ¹⁰ And those living on the earth will rejoice over them, and will make merry. And they will send one another gifts, because these two prophets tormented those living on the earth. ¹¹ And after three days and a half, a spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet. And great fear fell on the ones beholding them.

¹⁴ And two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, that she might fly into the wilderness, to her place, where she is nourished there a time, and times, and half a time, away from the serpent's face. ¹⁵ And the serpent threw water out of his mouth like a river after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried off by the river. ¹⁶ And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon threw out of his mouth. ¹⁷ And the dragon was enraged over the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, those keeping the commandments of God, and having the testimony of Jesus Christ.

³² And they sent out an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the sons of Israel, saying, The land into which we passed, to spy it out, is a land eating up its inhabitants. And all the people we saw in its midst were men of stature. ³³ And we saw the giants there, the sons of Anak, of the Giants. and we were in our own eyes as grasshoppers, and so we were in their eyes.

¹³ The lazy one says, A lion is in the way, a lion is between the streets! ¹⁴ As the door turns on its hinge, so the lazy one on his bed. ¹⁵ The lazy one buries his hand in the dish, he is weary to bring it back to his mouth. ¹⁶ The lazy one is wiser in his own eyes than seven that return a wise answer.

¹⁹ And Jehovah looked and despised them because of the provocation of His sons and of His daughters.

²⁰ And she said, Samson, the Philistines are upon you! And He awakened from his sleep, and said, I will go out and shake myself free as time after time. But he did not know that Jehovah had departed from him. ²¹ And the Philistines seized him, and bored out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. And they bound him with bands of bronze. And he was grinding in the house of prisoners.

²⁶ Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved by his God; and God made him king over Israel. But women from other lands caused even him to sin.

¹² So I gave them up to the stubbornness of their own hearts; they walked in their own conceits.

¹⁶ These will deliver you from the strange woman, from the foreigner who flatters with her words, ¹⁷ who forsakes the guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. ¹⁸ For her house leads down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits. ¹⁹ All going in to her do not return, nor do they reach the ways of life.

³ For the lips of a strange woman drip honey, and her palate is sweeter than oil, ⁴ but afterwards, she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a sword of mouths; ⁵ her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell, ⁶ lest you should meditate on the path of life, her tracks are movable, you cannot know them. ⁷ Then hear me now, O sons, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. ⁸ Remove your ways far from her, and do not come near to the door of her house, ⁹ lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel; ¹⁰ that strangers not be filled with your strength, and your labors be in the house of an alien, ¹¹ and you moan when your end comes, when your flesh and muscle are eaten away; ¹² and say, How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised correction; ¹³ and I have not bowed to the voice of my teachers, nor bowed my ears to those instructing me. ¹⁴ I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. ¹⁵ Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well. ¹⁶ Should your overflowing springs be scattered outside, like rivers of waters in the streets? ¹⁷ Let them be only your own, and not to strangers with you; ¹⁸ let your fountains be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth; ¹⁹ she is a loving deer, a graceful doe; let her breasts satisfy you every time, and always be ravished in her love. ²⁰ And my son, why will you be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace a foreigner's bosom? ²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and He ponders all his tracks. ²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sin. ²³ He shall die without instruction, and in the greatness of his foolishness he shall go astray.

²⁴ to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of the strange woman. ²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, and do not let her take you with her eyelids, ²⁶ For on account of a woman, a harlot, a man comes to the last loaf of bread, and another man's wife hunts for the precious soul. ²⁷ Can a man take fire into his bosom and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be burned? ²⁹ So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; everyone touching her shall not be innocent.

⁵ so that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the alien with her flattering words. ⁶ For I looked through my lattice, at the window of my house, ⁷ and I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the sons a young man lacking heart, ⁸ passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, ⁹ in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and darkness of night. ¹⁰ And, behold, a woman to meet him, with a harlot's dress, and a guarded heart; ¹¹ she is loud and stubborn; her feet do not stay in her own house. ¹² At this time she is outside, now in the streets, and she lies in wait at every corner; ¹³ and she seizes him and kisses him; she hardens her face and says to him, ¹⁴ Sacrifices of peace offerings are on me, today I have paid my vows; ¹⁵ so I came out to meet you, earnestly to seek your face, and I have found you. ¹⁶ I have spread my couch with coverings, with striped cloths of Egyptian linen. ¹⁷ I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. ¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with caresses. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at his house; he is going in the way, far away. ²⁰ He has taken a bag of silver in his hand; at the day of the full moon he will enter his house. ²¹ With the sum of her persuasion she turned him aside; with the flattering of her lips she forced him. ²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter; or as one in fetters goes to the correction of a fool, ²³ until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul. ²⁴ Now, then, listen to me, O sons, and attend to the words of my mouth: ²⁵ Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways; do not go astray in her paths. ²⁶ For many are the wounded she has caused to fall; and plentiful all her slain ones. ²⁷ The ways of Sheol are in her house, leading down to the rooms of death.

²⁷ For a harlot is a deep pit, and a strange woman is a narrow well.

²⁶ and I found more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets; her hands are like bands. He who is good before God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be captured by her.

⁴ Who gives a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!

⁵ Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.

²⁴ He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him seeks him with correction.

¹⁸ Chasten your son, for there is hope, and do not set your soul on making him die.

¹³ Do not withhold correction from a boy, for if you strike him with the rod, he will not die. ¹⁴ You shall beat him with the rod, and you shall deliver him from Sheol.

¹⁵ The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a boy sent off causes shame to his mother.

¹⁷ Correct your son, and you will get rest, and it will give delight to your soul.

⁶ That receiving birth from the flesh is flesh, and that receiving birth from the Spirit is spirit.

³ among whom we also all conducted ourselves in times past in the lusts of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and of the understandings, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as the rest.

¹⁰ For they truly disciplined us for a few days according to the thing seeming good to them; but He for our profit, in order for us to partake of His holiness. ¹¹ And all discipline for the present indeed does not seem to be joyous, but grievous; but afterward it gives back peaceable fruit of righteousness to the ones having been exercised by it.

¹⁹ For he crushed and forsook the poor; he stole a house, but he had not built it. ²⁰ Surely he shall not know ease in his belly; he will not escape with his things of desire. ²¹ There is no residue for his eating; because of this, his good will not last. ²² In the fullness of his scorn, it is strait for him; the hand of every wretched one shall come upon him. ²³ It shall happen at the filling of his belly, He shall cast on him the fury of His wrath, and He shall rain on him while he is eating. ²⁴ He may flee from the iron weapon, a bow of bronze shall pierce him. ²⁵ One draws it, and treads it from behind, even lightning from his gall; terror is upon him. ²⁶ All darkness is hidden for secret treasuring; fire not blown shall consume him; those left in his tent shall be broken. ²⁷ The heavens shall expose his iniquity; and the earth shall be raising itself up against him. ²⁸ The increase of his house shall depart, flowing away in the day of His wrath. ²⁹ This is the evil man's portion from God, and the inheritance of his word from God.

⁵ For the pain of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, I will now rise up, says Jehovah; I will set in safety; he pants for it.

²² Rob not the poor because he is poor, and oppress not the afflicted in the gate. ²³ For Jehovah will contend for their cause, and will plunder the soul of their plunderers.

³ A poor man that oppresses the weak is like a sweeping rain that leaves no food.

²² A man with an evil eye hastens after wealth, but he does not know that poverty will come on him.

² And they covet and seize fields and houses, and carry them away. And they oppress a man and his household, even a man and his inheritance. ³ So Jehovah says this: Behold, I am plotting an evil against this family, from which you shall not remove your necks; nor shall you go exalted, for it is an evil time.

⁹ So says Jehovah of hosts, saying, Judge true judgment, and practice kindness and pity, each man with his brother. ¹⁰ And do not oppress the widow, or the fatherless, the alien, or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother. ¹¹ But they refused to listen, and gave a stubborn shoulder, and they made their ears heavy from hearing. ¹² And they made their heart adamant from hearing the law and the words which Jehovah of hosts has sent by the former prophets through His Spirit. And great wrath was from Jehovah of hosts. ¹³ And it will be, just as He called, and they did not listen; so they called, and I did not listen, says Jehovah of hosts. ¹⁴ But I stormed them away on all the nations whom they did not know. And the land is desolated behind them, from passing and from returning; for they made the land of desire a waste.

³³ And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks is there to you? For even the sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what thanks is there to you? For the sinners lend to sinners so that they may receive the same. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be much; and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the unthankful and evil ones.

¹² And He also said to him who had invited Him, When you make a dinner or supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also should invite you in return, and it become a repayment to you. ¹³ But when you make a banquet, call the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; ¹⁴ and then you will be blessed, for they have nothing to repay you. For it will be repaid to you in the resurrection of the just.

²⁴ And calling he said, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame.

¹³ For judgment will be without mercy to the one not doing mercy. And mercy rejoices over judgment.

¹ Come now, rich ones, weep, howling over your hardships coming on. ² Your riches have rotted, and your garments have become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have rusted over, and their poison will be a testimony to you, and will eat your flesh as fire. You heaped treasure in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the workmen who have reaped your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of the ones who have reaped have entered "into the ears of the Lord of Hosts." Isa. 5:9 ⁵ You lived luxuriously on the earth, and lived in self gratification; you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter;

¹² So teach us to number our days, so that we may bring a heart of wisdom.

³ to receive instruction in prudence, justice, and judgment, and uprightness;

² so that you attend to wisdom, you shall extend your heart to understanding. ³ For if you cry for discernment, lifting up your voice for understanding; ⁴ if you seek her as silver, and search for her as hidden treasures, ⁵ then you shall understand the fear of Jehovah and find knowledge of God.

¹ My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands,

⁴ And he taught me and said to me, Let your heart cling to my words; keep my commands and live. ⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forsake and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. ⁷ Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding. ⁸ Exalt her, and she will lift you up; she shall bring you to honor when you embrace her.

¹ My son, listen to my wisdom; bow your ears to my understanding; ² So that you may keep judgment, and your lips may keep knowledge.

³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not refuse it. ³⁴ Blessed is the man listening to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

¹² Bring your heart in for instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge.

²⁵ And I turned my heart about, to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, and the foolishness of madness:

⁹ All this I have seen. I gave my heart to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which a man rules over a man for his evil.

¹⁶ When I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth; for even by day and by night he does not see sleep in his eyes.

³ Bend your ear and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will cut a covenant everlasting with you, the faithful mercies of David.

⁵ While he was yet speaking, behold, a radiant cloud overshadowed them. And, behold, a voice out of the cloud saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I delight; hear Him. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Isa. 42:1; Deut. 18:15

¹⁸ For I am full of words; the spirit inside me pressed on me; ¹⁹ behold my breast is like wine that has no vent; it bursts like new wineskins.

¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, even much fine gold, and sweeter than honey and drops from the honeycomb.

¹³ I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth with my lips;

¹⁰³ How sweet are Your words to my palate! More than honey to my mouth!

¹¹¹ I have inherited Your testimonies forever; for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹⁶² I rejoice at Your word, as one who finds great spoil.

¹⁷¹ My lips shall pour forth praise when You have taught me Your statutes.

¹⁰ When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasing to your soul,

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths peace.

⁶ Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips shall be right things.

¹³ Wisdom is found in the lips of him who has understanding, but a rod is waiting for the back of him who lacks heart.

²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of heart.

⁷ The lips of the wise extend knowledge, but the heart of the fool is not so.

²¹ The wise in heart shall be called prudent, and sweetness of lips increases learning.

¹³ My son, eat honey because it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your palate; ¹⁴ so shall knowledge of wisdom be to your soul, when you have found there is a future, and your hope is not cut off.

¹¹ A word rightly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

¹⁶ Your words were found and I ate them; and Your Word was to me the joy and gladness of my heart. For I am called by Your name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.

⁷ For the lips of the priest should guard knowledge, and they should seek the law from his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

³⁸ The one believing into Me, as the Scripture said, Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water. No OT passage

¹⁵ Then through Him let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God always, that is, the fruit of the lips, confessing to His name.

⁸ Trust in Him at every time, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding;

² Behold, God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid, for my strength and song is Jah Jehovah; yea, He has become my salvation.

⁴ Trust in Jehovah forever, for in Jah Jehovah is everlasting strength.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in Jehovah, and Jehovah is his trust.

²¹ the ones believing in God through Him, He raising Him from the dead, and giving glory to Him so that your faith and hope may be in God.

⁶ The words of Jehovah are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.

¹² I will write the great things of My law for him. They were counted as a strange thing.

¹⁵ and that from a babe you know the Holy Scriptures, those being able to make you wise to salvation through belief in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be perfected, fully furnished for every good work.

¹⁹ and we have the more established prophetic word, in which you do well to take heed, as to a lamp shining in a murky place, until day dawns and the Day-star rises in your hearts; ²⁰ knowing this first, that every prophecy of Scripture did not come into being of its own interpretation; ²¹ for prophecy was not at any time borne by the will of man, but having been borne along by the Holy Spirit, holy men of God spoke.

³ it seemed good also to me, having traced out all things accurately from the first, to write in order to you, most excellent Theophilus, ⁴ that you may know the certainty concerning the words which you were taught.

³¹ But these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

¹⁵ But sanctify" Isa. 8:12, 13 the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give an answer to everyone asking you a reason concerning the hope in you, with meekness and fear,

¹³ I wrote these things to you, the ones believing in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.

⁶ You shall not pervert the judgment of your needy one in his lawsuit.

¹² For I delivered the poor who cried for help and the orphan who had no helper to him. ¹³ The blessing of the perishing came on me; and I made the widow's heart to sing. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness and it clothed me; my judgment was like a robe and a diadem. ¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, and feet for the lame. ¹⁶ I was father to the poor, and the cause which I did not know, I searched out.

¹⁶ If I have withheld from the desire of the poor, or I have caused the widow's eyes to fail,

²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the orphan, when I watched over my help in the gate;

¹⁰ Do not move the old landmark, and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless, ¹¹ for their Redeemer is mighty, He will contend for their cause with you.

²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression and practiced robbery. And they troubled the poor and the needy, and they have oppressed the stranger without justice.

¹⁰ And do not oppress the widow, or the fatherless, the alien, or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother.

⁵ And I will come near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against those swearing to a lie; and against those who extort from the hired laborer's pay; and turning away the widow, and the fatherless, and the alien, and not fearing Me, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹² Jehovah shall judge between you and me, and Jehovah shall avenge me of you. But my hand shall not be on you.

¹⁵ Yea, Jehovah shall be judge, and shall judge between you and me. Yea, He shall see and contend for my cause, and shall deliver me out of your hand.

³⁹ And David heard that Nabal had died, and said, Blessed be Jehovah who has contended for the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal; and His servant has been kept back from evil. And Jehovah has caused the evil doing of Nabal to return on his head. And David sent and spoke with Abigail, to take her to himself for a wife.

¹ A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, contend with those who contend with me; fight those who fight against me.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say: O Jehovah, who is like You, who delivers the poor from those stronger than he; yes, the poor and needy from his plunderer?

¹ Judge me, O God, and strive for my cause against a nation not godly. Deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

⁵ In His holy dwelling God is a father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows.

¹² I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted, the justice of the poor.

¹¹ for their Redeemer is mighty, He will contend for their cause with you.

¹ Woe to the destroyer, and you not being destroyed; and to the betrayer, and they did not betray you! When you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, they will betray you.

³⁴ Their Redeemer is strong, Jehovah of Hosts is His name. He shall surely plead their cause, so that He may give rest to the land, and make to tremble the dwellers of Babylon.

³⁶ So Jehovah says this: Behold, I will strive for you and take vengeance for you. And I will dry up her sea and make her well dry.

⁹ I will bear the fury of Jehovah because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause and brings forth justice for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall see His righteousness.

⁸ Because you have plundered many nations, all the rest of the people shall plunder you, because of the blood of men and the violence of the land, and the city, and all those dwelling in it.

²² An angry man stirs up contention, and a furious one abounds in transgression.

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what fellowship does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are a temple of the living God, even as God said, "I will" dwell in them and "walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Lev. 26:12; Ezek. 37:27 ¹⁷ Because of this, "come out from among them" "and be separated," says the Lord, "and do not touch the unclean thing," and I will receive you. Isa. 52:11

³⁵ but mixed with the nations, and learned their works.

²⁰ He who walks with the wise shall be wise, but one associating with fools shall be broken.

³³ Do not be led astray; bad companionships ruin good habits.

¹ My son, if you are surety for your friend, if you struck your palms with an alien, ² you are snared with the words of your mouth; you are captured with the words of your own mouth. ³ My son, do this then, and deliver yourself when you come into the palm of your friend: go lower yourself and be bold to your friend. ⁴ Do not give sleep to your eyes, or slumber to your eyelids. ⁵ Deliver yourself like a gazelle from a hand of a hunter, and as a bird from the fowler's hand.

¹⁵ One suffers evil when he is surety for a stranger, but one hating strikers of hands is safe.

¹⁸ A man lacking heart strikes the palm, he pledges in the presence of his friend.

¹³ Take the garment of him who is surety for a stranger, and hold him in pledge who is surety for a strange woman.

²⁶ If you indeed take the clothing of your neighbor as a pledge, you shall return it to him by the going of the sun, ²⁷ for that is his only covering, that is his covering for his skin. In what shall he lie down? And it shall be, when he cries to Me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

¹⁶ Take the garment of the one who is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge from one who guarantees for strangers.

¹⁴ You may not remove your neighbor's landmark, which those formerly have set in your inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land which Jehovah your God is giving you, to possess it.

¹⁷ Cursed is he who removes his neighbor's landmark! And all the people shall say, Amen!

² They move the landmarks; they seize and pasture flocks;

¹⁰ Do not move the old landmark, and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless,

⁴⁶ And Joseph was a son of thirty years as he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the face of Pharaoh and passed over in all the land of Egypt.

⁸ Oh the happiness of your men! Oh the happiness of your servants, these who stand before you continually, who hear your wisdom!

²⁸ And the man Jeroboam was a mighty warrior. And Solomon saw the young man, that he was doing work. And he appointed him to all the burden of the house of Joseph.

⁴ He who deals with a lazy palm becomes poor, but the hand of the hard worker makes him rich.

²⁴ The hand of the hard worker shall rule, but the remiss ones will become forced labor.

¹⁰ All that your hand finds to do, do it with your strength. For there is no work, or planning, or knowledge, or wisdom, in Sheol, there where you go.

²¹ And his lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful over a few things; I will set you over many. Enter into the joy of your lord.

¹¹ in diligence, not slothful, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

² preach the Word, be urgent in season, out of season, convict, warn, encourage with all long-suffering and teaching.
