¹ And I said, Heads of Jacob and magistrates of the house of Israel, please hear. Is it not for you to know justice? ² Those hating good and loving evil, who pull their skin off them, and their flesh from their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and cause their skin to come off from them; yea, they break their bones and shatter, like that in the pot, and as flesh in the midst of the kettle. ⁴ Then they shall cry out to Jehovah, but He will not answer them. He will even hide His face from them in that time, as they have done evil in their doings. ⁵ So says Jehovah concerning the prophets who make My people err, who bite with their teeth and call out, Peace! And whoever does not give for their mouth, they even sanctify a war against him. ⁶ So a night shall be for you apart from vision; and darkness apart from divining. And the sun shall go down on the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them. ⁷ And the seers shall be ashamed, and the diviners shall blush, all of them; yea, they shall cover over their mustache, for there is no answer from God. ⁸ But by the Spirit of Jehovah I am full of power and justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and his sin to Israel. ⁹ Please hear this, heads of the house of Jacob, and magistrates of the house of Israel, you who abhor justice and pervert all equity. ¹⁰ those building up Zion with blood and Jerusalem with iniquity: ¹¹ Her leaders judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for silver; yet they will lean on Jehovah, saying, is not Jehovah among us? No evil shall come on us! ¹² Therefore, on account of you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house into high places of the forest.

¹³ Give wise and understanding men, and those known to your tribes, and I will appoint them rulers over you. ¹⁴ And you answered me and said, The thing which you have spoken is good to do. ¹⁵ And I took the chiefs of your tribes, wise and noted men, and I appointed them rulers over you, commanders over thousands, and commanders over hundreds and commanders over fifties, and commanders over tens, and officers, for your tribes. ¹⁶ And I commanded your judges at that time, saying, Hear between your brothers; and judge with righteousness between a man and his brother, and his alien. ¹⁷ You shall not respect persons in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid because of the face of a man, for the judgment is God's; and the thing too hard for you, you shall bring near to me, and I shall hear it.

¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

⁵ And he placed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, for every city; ⁶ and said to the judges, Watch what you are doing, for you shall not judge for man, but for Jehovah, and He is with you in the matter of judgment; ⁷ and now, let the fear of Jehovah be upon you; watch and act, for there is no perverseness with Jehovah our God, nor lifting up of faces, nor taking of a bribe. ⁸ And also in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat caused to stand from the Levites and from the priests, and from the heads of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of Jehovah, and for strife; and they returned to Jerusalem. ⁹ And he charged them, saying, So shall you do in the fear of Jehovah, faithfully, and with a perfect heart. ¹⁰ And when any contention shall come to you from your brothers who are living in their cities, between blood and blood between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, then you shall warn them, and they shall not be guilty before Jehovah; and wrath shall not be on you and on your brothers; so you shall do, and you shall not be guilty.

⁴ Have all evildoers not known, eating My people as they eat bread? They have not called on Jehovah.

¹ A Psalm of Asaph God stands in the assembly of God; He judges in the midst of the gods. ² Until when will you judge unjustly, and lift up the faces of the wicked? Selah. ³ Judge the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. ⁴ Deliver the poor and needy; save out of the hand of the wicked. ⁵ They neither know nor will understand; they walk in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom. Listen to the law of our God, people of Gomorrah.

⁴ So I said, Surely they are poor; they are foolish, for they do not know the way of Jehovah, the ordinance of their God. ⁵ I will go up for myself to the great men and will speak to them. For they have known the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God. Surely these have joined in breaking the yoke; they have torn off the bonds.

¹⁵ Hear and give ear; do not be proud, for Jehovah has spoken. ¹⁶ Give glory to Jehovah your God before He brings darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains. Yea, while you look for light, He puts it into death shade, setting up deep gloom. ¹⁷ But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride. And my eye shall bitterly weep and run down with tears, because the flock of Jehovah was captured. ¹⁸ Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves, sit down. For the crown of your glory will come down from your head places.

² and say, Hear the word of Jehovah, O king of Judah who sits on the throne of David, you and your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates. ³ So says Jehovah, Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one robbed from the oppressor's hand. And do not oppress the alien, the widow, or the orphan, and do not do violence nor shed innocent blood in this place.

¹ Hear this, O priests, and listen, house of Israel. And give ear, house of the king. For the judgment is toward you, because you have been a snare to Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.

¹ Hear this word, cows of Bashan who are in the mountain of Samaria, who press down the helpless, who crush the poor, who say to their husbands, Bring in, that we may drink.

⁹ Please hear this, heads of the house of Jacob, and magistrates of the house of Israel, you who abhor justice and pervert all equity. ¹⁰ those building up Zion with blood and Jerusalem with iniquity:

⁵ For I speak shame to you. So, is there not a wise one among you, not even one who will be able to give judgment on his brother in your midst?

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

⁶ And the king of Israel gathered the prophets, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, that the Lord may give it into the hand of the king. ⁷ And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we might inquire of him? ⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Yet one man, to seek Jehovah by him. But I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil, Micaiah the son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, let not the king say so.

² And Jehu the son of Hanani, the seer, went out before him and said to king Jehoshaphat, Do you love to help the bad one, and those who hate Jehovah, and by this bring wrath on you from the face of Jehovah?

⁴ In his eyes, the reprobate has been despised, but he honors those who fear Jehovah: He has sworn to his hurt, and will not change it.

⁴ Have the workers of evil not known, eating up My people as they eat bread? They have not called on God.

²¹ O Jehovah, do not I hate those hating You? And am I not detesting those rising against You? ²² I hate them with a perfect hatred; they have become my enemies.

⁴ Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive with them.

¹⁵ What do you mean that you crush My people, and grind the faces of the poor, says the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts?

²⁷ Her rulers in her midst are like wolves tearing prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, in order to gain unjust gain.

³ You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool, you sacrifice the fat ones, and you do not feed the flock.

¹⁰ They hate him who rebukes in the gate, and they despise him who speaks uprightly. ¹¹ So, because of your trampling on the poor, and you take tribute of grain from him. You have built houses of hewn stones, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted desirable vineyards, but you shall not drink wine from them. ¹² For I know your many transgressions, and your many sins: afflicting the just, taking of a bribe, and turning aside the poor in the gate. ¹³ So the understanding ones shall keep silent in that time, for it is an evil time. ¹⁴ Seek good and not evil, that you may live; and so Jehovah the God of hosts shall be with you, as you have spoken.

⁴ Hear this, you who swallow up the poor, even to make the humble of the land to cease, ⁵ saying, When will the new moon have passed, so that we may buy grain? Or the sabbath, so that we may open the wheat, making smaller the ephah, and to enlarge the shekel, and to falsify the deceitful balances, ⁶ in order to buy the helpless with silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals, and sell the chaff of the wheat?

³ Her rulers within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they do not gnaw bones for the morning.

⁴ For so says Jehovah my God: Feed the flock of the slaughter. ⁵ Those who buy them kill them and are not held guilty. And those who sell them say, Blessed be Jehovah, for I am rich. And their shepherds do not pity them.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, We do not desire this one to reign over us.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me because I witness about it, that its works are evil.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it has hated you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

²³ The one hating Me also hates My Father. ²⁴ If I did not do the works among them which no other did, they had no sin. But now they both have seen and also have hated Me and My Father.

⁴⁰ Then all cried out again, saying, Not this one, but Barabbas! But Barabbas was a robber.

⁵¹ Oh stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and in the ears! You always fell against the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, you also did . ⁵² Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who before announced the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become betrayers and murderers,

³² who knowing the righteous order of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also applaud those practicing them .

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation, shrinking from evil, cleaving to the good,

³ without natural feeling, unyielding, slanderers, without self-control, savage, haters of good,

³ who say, It is not near, let us build houses; she is the pot, and we are the flesh.

⁶ You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled her streets with the slain. ⁷ So the Lord Jehovah says this: Your slain whom you have laid in her midst, they are the flesh, and she is the pot. But I will bring you forth out of her midst.

¹⁷ And My anger shall burn against them in that day, and I shall forsake them and hide My face from them. And it shall be consumed, and many evils and distresses shall find this people . And it shall say in that day, Is it not because my God is not in my midst, that these evils have found me? ¹⁸ And I will completely hide My face in that day, because of all the evil which this people has done, for it shall turn to other gods.

¹⁹ And Jehovah looked and despised them because of the provocation of His sons and of His daughters. ²⁰ And He said, I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness.

⁴¹ They cried, but no one is there to save; to Jehovah, but He did not answer them.

²⁸ Then they shall call on me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me.

⁹ Whoever turns aside his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

¹⁵ And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. Yea, when you multiply prayer, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked! For the evil, the doing of his hand will be done to him.

¹ Behold, the hand of Jehovah is not shortened from saving, nor is His ear heavy from hearing. ² But your iniquities are coming between you and your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, from hearing. ³ For your hands are defiled by blood; yea, your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken falsehood; your tongue murmurs perverseness. ⁴ No one calls for righteousness; and no one pleads with truth. Trusting emptiness, and speaking vanity, they conceive mischief, and give birth to evil. ⁵ They hatch adders' eggs, and weave the spider's web; he who eats their eggs dies; and that which is crushed hatches out a viper. ⁶ Their webs shall not become clothing, nor shall they cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of evil, and the act of violence is in their hands. ⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they hurry to pour out innocent blood. Thoughts of iniquity are their thoughts; wasting and ruin are in their tracks. ⁸ They do not know the way of peace; and no justice is in their tracks. They have made crooked paths for themselves; everyone going in them does not know peace. ⁹ For this reason justice is far from us; and righteousness does not overtake us. We wait for light, but, behold, dimness; for brightness, but we walk in gloom. ¹⁰ We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as in the twilight, in deserted places like the dead. ¹¹ We all of us roar like bears, and we moan sadly like doves. We look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us. ¹² For our trespasses are multiplied before You, and our sins testify against us. For our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities; ¹³ transgressing and lying against Jehovah, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and murmuring words of falsehood from the heart. ¹⁴ And justice is driven back; and righteousness stands far off; for truth stumbles in the plaza, and right is not able to enter. ¹⁵ And the truth is lacking; and whoever turns from evil makes himself a prey. And Jehovah saw; and it was evil in His eyes, that there was no justice.

²⁷ saying to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You gave us birth. For they turned their back to Me, and not the face. But in the time of their evil, they will say, Arise, and save us! ²⁸ But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your evil; for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

³¹ The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their hands; and My people love it so. And what will you do at the end of it?

⁵ they come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I have struck in My anger and in My wrath, and for whom I have hidden My face from this city, because of all their evil.

¹⁸ And I also will deal with fury. My eye shall not spare, and I will not have pity. And though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.

³ So Jehovah says this: Behold, I am plotting an evil against this family, from which you shall not remove your necks; nor shall you go exalted, for it is an evil time. ⁴ In that day one shall lift up a parable against you and lament a lament of lamenting. He says, We shall be completely laid waste. He has exchanged the share of my people. How He has removed it for me! To the turncoat He has divided the fields.

¹³ And it will be, just as He called, and they did not listen; so they called, and I did not listen, says Jehovah of hosts.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?

²⁵ From the time the Master of the house shall have risen up, and He shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. And answering, He will say to you, I do not know you. From where are you?

³¹ But we know that God does not hear sinful ones, but if anyone is God fearing, and does His will, He hears that one.

⁸ but to those even disobeying the truth, out of self interest, and obeying unrighteousness, will be anger and wrath, ⁹ trouble and pain on every soul of man that works out evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek.

¹³ For judgment will be without mercy to the one not doing mercy. And mercy rejoices over judgment.

¹² As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over him. Oh My people, your rulers cause you to go astray, and they swallow the way of your paths.

¹⁵ The elder and the exalted of face; he is the head. And the prophet who teaches lies; he is the tail. ¹⁶ For this people's leaders led them astray, and its guided ones are swallowed up.

⁹ All beasts of the field come to devour, all beasts in the forest! ¹⁰ His watchmen are blind; they all do not know; they are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark, dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber; ¹¹ yea, dogs greedy of soul; they do not know satisfaction. And they are shepherds; they know not discernment; they all look to their own way, each one for his own gain, from his own end, saying: ¹² Come, and let me bring wine, and let us gulp down fermented drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, great, exceedingly abundant.

¹⁴ They have also healed the break of My people slightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

¹⁴ And Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I did not send them and I have not commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a false vision, and a worthless divination, and the deceit of their heart. ¹⁵ So Jehovah says this concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, and I did not send them; yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed.

⁹ My heart within me is broken concerning the prophets; all my bones shake. I am like a drunken man, and like a man overcome by wine, because of Jehovah, and because of the words of His holiness. ¹⁰ For the land is full of adulterers. For the land mourns because of a curse. The pastures of the wilderness are dried up. And their course is evil, and their might is not right. ¹¹ For both prophet and priest are ungodly; yea, I have found their evil in My house, says Jehovah. ¹² So their way shall be to them as slippery places in the darkness; they shall be driven out and fall by it. For I will bring evil on them, the year of their judgment, says Jehovah. ¹³ And I have seen frivolity among the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal and caused My people Israel to go astray. ¹⁴ I have also seen a horrible thing among the prophets of Jerusalem; they commit adultery and walk in falsehood. And they make the hands of evildoers strong, so that not a man returns from his evil. They are all of them like Sodom to Me, and her inhabitants like Gomorrah. ¹⁵ So Jehovah of Hosts says this concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them wormwood, and make them drink poisonous water, for ungodliness has gone forth from the prophets of Jerusalem into all the land. ¹⁶ So says Jehovah of hosts, do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you; they make you vain; they speak a vision of their own heart, not out of the mouth of Jehovah. ¹⁷ They say to those who despise Me, Jehovah has said, You shall have peace. And they say to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, Evil shall not come on you.

²⁷ They plot to cause My people to forget My name by their dreams which they tell, each one to his neighbor, even as their fathers have forgotten My name for Baal.

³² Jehovah says, Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams, and tell them, and cause My people to go astray by their lies, and by their frivolity. Yet I did not send them nor command them. And they will not profit this people at all, says Jehovah.

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah, Jehovah has not sent you, but you have made this people trust in a lie. ¹⁶ So Jehovah says this, Behold, I send you away from the face of the earth. You shall die this year, because you have spoken apostasy against Jehovah. ¹⁷ And Hananiah died the same year in the seventh month.

²¹ So says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in My name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall strike them before your eyes. ²² And a curse shall be taken up from them for all the exiles of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, May Jehovah make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire, ²³ because they have committed disgraceful folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbor's wives, and have spoken a lying word in My name, which I have not commanded them. For I am He who knows, and a witness, says Jehovah.

¹⁰ Because, even because they made My people go astray, saying, Peace! and there was no peace. And he builds a wall, and, behold, others daubed it with lime. ¹¹ Say to those daubing with lime, Yea, it will fall. There will be a flooding rain; and you, O hailstones, shall fall, and a raging wind shall break. ¹² And, behold, when the wall has fallen, it shall not be said to you, Where is the daubing with which you have daubed? ¹³ So the Lord Jehovah says this: I will even break in My fury with a raging wind. And there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and hailstones in fury, to consume it. ¹⁴ And I will break down the wall that you have daubed with lime and bring it down to the ground; yea, I will bare its base. And it shall fall, and you will be consumed in its midst. And you shall know that I am Jehovah. ¹⁵ And I will fulfill My wrath in the wall, and in those who daubed it with lime. And I will say to you, The wall is not; and, Those who daubed are not, ¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁸ and say, So says the Lord Jehovah: Woe to those sewing bands to all joints of my hands, and make long veils for the head of every man of stature, to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of My people, and will you save alive the souls for yourselves? ¹⁹ And will you profane Me among My people for handfuls of barley, and for bits of bread, to put to death the souls that should not die, and to save alive the souls that should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies?

²⁵ A plot by her prophets is in her midst, like a roaring lion tearing prey. They have devoured souls and they have taken the riches and gems. They multiplied her widows in her midst. ²⁶ Her priests have violated My law and have profaned My holy things. They have not divided between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and clean they have not taught. And they have hidden their eyes from the sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. ²⁷ Her rulers in her midst are like wolves tearing prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, in order to gain unjust gain. ²⁸ And her prophets have daubed themselves with lime, seeing empty visions, and divining lies to them, saying, So says the Lord Jehovah, when Jehovah has not spoken. ²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression and practiced robbery. And they troubled the poor and the needy, and they have oppressed the stranger without justice.

¹¹ If a man walks with wind, and he lies in deceit, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and for fermented drink, he shall even be a dropper of words for this people.

¹¹ Her leaders judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for silver; yet they will lean on Jehovah, saying, is not Jehovah among us? No evil shall come on us!

⁸ But you have turned out of the way; you have caused many to stumble at the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁵ But beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside they are plundering wolves.

¹⁴ Leave them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind; and if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.

¹⁸ For such ones do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth speaking and flattering they deceive the hearts of those without guile.

⁹ We did not see our signs; there is no longer a prophet; nor any among us who knows until when.

²⁰ To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no dawn to them! ²¹ And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry. And it shall be, they shall be hungry; he will rave and curse his king and his God, and face upward. ²² And they shall look to the land. And, behold, trouble and darkness and gloom of anguish; and they are driven to darkness.

¹⁰ for Jehovah has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes. He has covered the prophets and your heads, the seers.

¹⁰ We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as in the twilight, in deserted places like the dead.

⁹ She who bore seven now languishes; she has breathed out her life; her sun has gone down while it was still day. She has been ashamed and humiliated, and I will deliver the rest of them to the sword before their enemies, says Jehovah.

²² Because you have saddened the heart of the righteous with lies, and I have not made him sad, and you have made the hands of the wicked strong, so that he should not turn from his evil way, to keep him alive. ²³ So you shall not see vanity, and you shall not divine any divination. And I will deliver My people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am Jehovah.

⁹ And it shall be in that day, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in light of the day. ¹⁰ And I will turn your feasts to mourning, and all your songs into a dirge. And I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head. And I will make it like the mourning for an only one; and the end of it shall be like a bitter day.

² And it shall be in that day, I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall be remembered no more, says Jehovah of hosts. And I also will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land. ³ And it shall be when any shall prophesy again, his father and his mother who gave him birth shall say to him then, You shall not live, for you speak lies in the name of Jehovah. And his father and his mother who gave him birth shall pierce him when he prophesies. ⁴ And it shall be in that day, the prophets shall be ashamed, each one of his vision when he prophesies, and they shall not wear a hairy garment to deceive.

¹⁸ And the priests performed with their secret arts to bring forth lice, and they could not. And the lice were on man and on beast. ¹⁹ And the priests said to Pharaoh, It is the finger of God. And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as Jehovah had said.

¹¹ And the priests were not able to stand before Moses, before the inflammation. For the inflammation was on the priests and on all the Egyptians.

⁴⁵ And the leper who has the plague in him, his garments shall be torn, and his head shall be uncovered, and he shall cover the upper lip; and he shall call out, Unclean! Unclean!

⁹ In former times in Israel, a man who was going to seek God said this, Come and we shall go to the seer; for the prophet of today was formerly called the seer.

³⁷ And Saul asked of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will You give them into the hand of Israel? But He did not answer him on that day.

⁶ And Saul asked of Jehovah, but Jehovah did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets.

¹⁵ And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disturbed me, to bring me up. And Saul said, I am grievously distressed. And the Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned from me and has not answered me any more, either by the hand of the prophets, or by dreams. And I called for you to make known to me what I should do.

²⁵ frustrating the signs of liars; yea, He makes diviners mad; turning wise ones backward, and making their knowledge foolish.

¹² Stand now among your spells, and with your many sorceries, in which you have wearied yourself since your youth. Perhaps you will be able to profit; perhaps may cause quaking. ¹³ You are exhausted by your many plans; let those dividing the heavens stand up now and save you, the stargazers, making known what is coming on you into the new moons. ¹⁴ Behold, they are as stubble; the fire burns them; they shall not save their soul from the flame's hand; there is no coal to warm them; nor fire, to sit before it.

¹⁷ Groan, but be silent; do not make a mourning for the dead. Bind your turban on you, and put your sandals on your feet, and do not cover the mustache nor eat the bread of men.

²² And you shall do as I have done. You shall not cover over the mustache, and you shall not eat the bread of men.

⁹ But if you will not make the dream known to me, there is one law for you. For you have agreed upon lying and deceiving words to speak before me until the time has changed. Therefore, tell me the dream, then I shall know that you can reveal the meaning to me. ¹⁰ The Chaldeans replied before the king and said, There is not a man on the earth who can reveal the king's matter, because not any king, lord, or ruler has asked such a thing from any horoscopist, or conjurer, or Chaldean. ¹¹ And the thing that the king asks is rare. And there is no other who may reveal it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

¹¹ Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine into the land, not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but rather a famine for hearing the words of Jehovah.

¹⁶ The nations shall see and be ashamed from all their might. They shall set the hand on their mouth; their ears shall be deaf.

⁴ And it shall be in that day, the prophets shall be ashamed, each one of his vision when he prophesies, and they shall not wear a hairy garment to deceive.

⁸ But in the way Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so also these withstand the truth, men having been corrupted in mind, found worthless as to the faith. ⁹ But they will not go further, for their foolishness will be plain to all, as also that of those became.

¹⁸ For I am full of words; the spirit inside me pressed on me;

² And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest on Him; He will have the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and power, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. ³ And He is made to breathe in the fear of Jehovah. But He shall not judge by the seeing of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears.

¹ Call out with the throat! Do not spare. Lift up your voice like the ram's horn! And show My people their rebellion, and their sins to the house of Jacob.

¹⁸ For, behold, today I have made you a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against her princes, against her priests, and to the people of the land.

¹¹ And I am full of the fury of Jehovah; I am weary with holding in. Pour it out on the child in the street and on the circle of the young men together. For even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the elder with fullness of days.

¹⁹ So Jehovah says this: If you return, then I will bring you again; you shall stand before Me. And if you take the precious from the worthless, you shall be as My mouth. Let them turn back to you, but do not return to them. ²⁰ And I will make you a fortified wall of bronze to this people. And they shall fight against you, but they shall not overcome you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you, says Jehovah. ²¹ And I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the evil ones.

⁹ And I said, I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name. But His Word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary of holding in, and I could not prevail.

¹⁴ So the Spirit lifted me up and took me, and I went bitterly in the heat of my spirit, but the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me.

² Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,

⁴ Will you judge them, will you judge, son of man? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers.

² And you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then cause her to know all her abominations.

¹⁰ You, son of man, declare to the house of Israel, the temple house, and they will blush from their iniquities. And let them measure its size.

⁷ But seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Therefore, bring forth fruits worthy of repentance. ⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, We have a father, Abraham. For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ But already the axe is even laid at the root of the trees; therefore, any tree not bringing forth good fruit is cut down and is thrown into fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water to repentance; but He who is coming after me is stronger than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire, ¹² whose fan is in His hand, and He will cleanse His floor and will gather His wheat into the barn. But He will burn up the chaff with fire that cannot be put out.

²⁹ For He was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scribes.

¹⁷ And on James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, He put on them the names Boanerges, which is, Sons of Thunder.

⁸ Then being filled of the Holy Spirit, Peter said to them, Rulers of the people and elders of Israel, ⁹ if we are being examined today on a good work of an infirm man, by what this one has been healed, ¹⁰ let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in this name this one stands before you whole. ¹¹ This One is the Stone counted worthless by you the builders, which has become to be the Head of the Corner; Psa. 118:22 ¹² and there is salvation in no other One, for neither is there any other name under Heaven having been given among men by which we must be saved.

¹⁹ But answering them Peter and John said, Whether it is right before God to listen to you rather than God, you judge. ²⁰ For we are not able not to speak what we saw and heard.

⁵⁴ And hearing these things, they were cut to their hearts and gnashed the teeth on him. ⁵⁵ But being full of the Holy Spirit, looking intently into the heaven, he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right of God. ⁵⁶ And he said, Behold, I see the heavens having been opened, and the Son of man standing at the right of God! ⁵⁷ And crying out with a loud voice, they held their ears and rushed on him with one passion.

⁹ But Saul, who is also Paul, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and looking intently on him, ¹⁰ he said, O son of the Devil, full of all guile and of all cunning, enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun until a time. And instantly a mist and darkness fell on him, and going about he sought some to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then seeing the thing happening, the proconsul believed, being astounded at the doctrine of the Lord.

⁵ And when both Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was pressed by the Spirit, earnestly testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ. ⁶ But they having resisted, and blaspheming, having shaken his garments, he said to them, Your blood be on your head. I am pure from it; from now on I will go to the nations.

⁹ And the Lord said to Paul through a vision in the night, Do not fear, but speak, and do not keep silence; ¹⁰ because I am with you, and no one shall set on you to oppress you; because there is much people to Me in this city. ¹¹ And he remained a year and six months teaching the Word of God among them.

⁴ And my word and my preaching was not in moving words of human wisdom, but in proof of the Spirit and of power,

¹² But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit from God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. ¹³ Which things we also speak, not in words taught in human wisdom, but in words taught of the Holy Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things .

¹⁶ Go, and gather the elders of Israel and say to them, Jehovah the God of your fathers has appeared to me, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, I have surely visited you and have seen what is done to you in Egypt.

¹⁵ and if you reject My statutes, and if your soul hates My judgments, so as not to do all My commands, to the breaking of My covenant;

¹⁹ Cursed is he who perverts the judgment of the alien, the fatherless, and widow! And all the people shall say, Amen!

¹ To the chief musician. Do not destroy. A secret treasure of David. Will you indeed speak righteousness in silence? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men? ² Yes, in heart you work the evil, you weigh the violence of your hands in the land.

¹⁵ He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, even both of them are disgusting to Jehovah.

²³ Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards. They do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them,

²⁸ They have become fat; they shine. Yes, they pass over the deeds of the evil; they do not plead the cause, the cause of the orphan, that they may prosper. And they do not vindicate the right of the needy.

¹ And I said, Heads of Jacob and magistrates of the house of Israel, please hear. Is it not for you to know justice?

¹³ Woe to him who builds his house without righteousness, and his upper rooms without justice. His neighbor serves without pay, and he does not give him his work; ¹⁴ who says, I will build myself a wide house and large upper rooms. And he cuts out windows for it and covers with cedar, and paints with vermilion. ¹⁵ Do you reign because you lust to excel in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well for him. ¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy, then it was well. Was this not to know Me, says Jehovah? ¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart lust for nothing but your unjust gain, and to shed innocent blood, and oppression, and to do violence.

²⁵ A plot by her prophets is in her midst, like a roaring lion tearing prey. They have devoured souls and they have taken the riches and gems. They multiplied her widows in her midst. ²⁶ Her priests have violated My law and have profaned My holy things. They have not divided between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and clean they have not taught. And they have hidden their eyes from the sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. ²⁷ Her rulers in her midst are like wolves tearing prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, in order to gain unjust gain. ²⁸ And her prophets have daubed themselves with lime, seeing empty visions, and divining lies to them, saying, So says the Lord Jehovah, when Jehovah has not spoken.

⁹ Woe to him who robs evil booty for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil! ¹⁰ You have advised shame for your house, to make an end of many peoples, and are sinning in your soul. ¹¹ For the stone shall cry out from the wall, and the beam shall answer it from the wood. ¹² Woe to him who builds a town with blood and establishes a city by iniquity!

²⁵ And answering, all the people said, His blood be on us and on our children.

⁵⁰ nor consider that it is profitable for us that one man die for the people, and not all the nation to perish.

¹⁵ And Moses was very angry, and said to Jehovah, Do not respect their offering; I have not taken one ass from them, nor have I done evil to one of them.

³ And the people came into the camp, and the elders of Israel said, Why has Jehovah stricken us today before the Philistines? Let us take the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to us, and let it come into our midst; and it will save us from the hand of our enemies. ⁴ And the people sent to Shiloh, and they took from there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah of hosts, who dwells between the cherubs. And the two sons of Eli were there with the ark of the covenant of God, Hophni and Phinehas. ⁵ And it happened, when the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came into the camp, all Israel shouted a great shout, and the earth shook. ⁶ And the Philistines heard the noise of the shouting, and said, What is the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they saw that the ark of Jehovah had come into the camp.

³ And his sons did not walk in his ways, and turned aside after dishonest gain, and took a bribe, and perverted judgment.

³ Behold, I am here! Testify against me before Jehovah and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I offended? Whom have I abused, and from whose hand have I taken a bribe that I might hide my eyes with it; and I will give back to you. ⁴ And they said, You have not oppressed us, and you have not abused us, and you have not taken from the hand of any man.

² For they are called of the holy city, and rest themselves on the God of Israel; Jehovah of Hosts is His name.

¹¹ yea, dogs greedy of soul; they do not know satisfaction. And they are shepherds; they know not discernment; they all look to their own way, each one for his own gain, from his own end, saying:

¹³ For everyone from the least of them even to the greatest of them cuts off a profit. And from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

⁴ Do not trust yourself to lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah! The temple of Jehovah! This is the temple of Jehovah!

⁸ Behold, you trust for yourself on lying words without being of use. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know? ¹⁰ And will you then come and stand before Me in this house on which My name is called, and say, We are delivered in order to do all those detestable things. ¹¹ Has this house on which My name is called become a den of violent ones in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen, declares Jehovah. ¹² But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I made My name dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the evil of My people Israel.

¹⁰ So I will give their wives to others, their fields to those who shall inherit. For everyone from the least even to the greatest cuts off a profit. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

¹² In you they have taken bribes in order to shed blood. You have taken interest and increase, and you have gained by extortion of your neighbor. And you have forgotten Me, declares the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁸ Their drink is sour. They are continually fornicating. Her shields dearly love shame.

¹⁰ All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, those who say, The evil shall not draw near or confront us.

⁵ So says Jehovah concerning the prophets who make My people err, who bite with their teeth and call out, Peace! And whoever does not give for their mouth, they even sanctify a war against him.

³ Both palms are on evil, to do it well. The ruler is asking for a bribe, also the judge. And the great one speaks the lust of his soul; he acts, and they weave it together.

¹⁰ Who is even among you that will shut the doors, and you not kindle fire on My altar in vain? There is no delight to Me in you, says Jehovah of hosts. I will not be pleased with a food offering from you.

⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, We have a father, Abraham. For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

¹⁸ But Simon having seen that the Holy Spirit is given through the laying on of the hands of the apostles, he offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, Give to me also this authority that to whomever I may lay on the hands he may receive the Holy Spirit. ²⁰ But Peter said to him, May your silver be with you into perdition, because you thought to get the gift of God through money.

¹⁷ Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the Law, and boast in God, ¹⁸ and know the will, and approve the things excelling, being instructed out of the Law, ¹⁹ and persuading yourself to be a guide of blind ones, a light to those in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of foolish ones, a teacher of infants, having the form of knowledge and of the truth in the Law. ²¹ Then the one teaching another, do you not teach yourself? The one preaching not to steal, do you steal? ²² The one saying not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? The one detesting the idols, do you rob temples? ²³ You who boast in Law, do you dishonor God through transgression of the Law? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the nations through you, even as it has been written: Isa. 52:5 ²⁵ For indeed circumcision profits if you practice the Law, but if you are a transgressor of Law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. ²⁶ If, then, the uncircumcision keeps the demands of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? ²⁷ And will not the uncircumcision by nature by keeping the Law judge you, the one who through letter and circumcision becomes transgressor of Law? ²⁸ For he is not a Jew that is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that outwardly in flesh; ²⁹ but he is a Jew that is one inwardly, and circumcision is of heart, in spirit, not in letter; of whom the praise is not from men, but from God.

³ not a drinker, not a contentious one, not greedy of ill gain, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not loving money;

¹¹ whose mouth you must stop, who overturn whole houses, teaching things which they ought not for the sake of ill gain.

² Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, not by compulsion, but willingly; nor eagerly for base gain, but readily;

¹ But false prophets were also among the people, as also false teachers will be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, and denying the Master who has bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. ² And many will follow their destructive ways, by whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of. ³ And by covetousness, with well-turned words, they will use you for gain, for whom judgment of old does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.

¹⁴ having eyes full of an adulteress, and never ceasing from sin; alluring unsettled souls; having a heart busied with covetousness; cursed children; ¹⁵ forsaking a straight path, they went astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

¹¹ Woe to them, because they went the way of Cain, and gave themselves up to the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the speaking against of Korah!

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the nations have come into Your inheritance; they have defiled Your holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

³⁴ a fruitful land to a salty desert; because of the wickedness of those who live in it.

² And it shall be in the last days, the mountain of the house of Jehovah shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it. ³ And many people shall go and say, Come and let us go up to the mount of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob. And He will teach from His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For out of Zion the law will go forth, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.

¹⁸ Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah. And he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, So says Jehovah of Hosts: Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house like the high places of a forest.

⁶ And I will make Samaria into ruins of the field, planting places for a vineyard. And I will pour down her stones into the valley, and I will uncover her foundations.

¹ But it shall be in the end of the days, the mountain of the house of Jehovah shall be established on the top of the mountains; and it shall be lifted up from the hills; and peoples shall flow on it. ² And many nations shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob. And He will teach us from His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For the law shall go forth out of Zion, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.

² But Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, There will not at all be left one stone on a stone which in no way will not be thrown down.

¹³ And they stood up false witnesses, who were saying, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law; ¹⁴ for we have heard him saying that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and will change the customs which Moses delivered over to us.
