¹⁴ For narrow is the gate, and constricted is the way that leads away into life, and few are the ones who find it.

²⁶ Study the track of your feet, then all your ways will be established. ²⁷ Do not turn to the right hand or to the left; turn your foot aside from evil.

²⁰ I walk in the path of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice;

²¹ And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way, walk in it, when you go right, or when you go left.

⁸ And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called, The Way of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it. And it is for them, the wayfaring one; yea, fools shall not go astray.

¹⁴ And he shall say, Raise up! Raise up! Clear the way! Make the stumbling block rise from the way of My people.

¹⁶ So says Jehovah, Stand by the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it .

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and let him bear his cross, and let him follow Me. ²⁵ For whoever may desire to save his life will lose it. But whoever may lose his life for My sake will find it.

¹ Then the kingdom of Heaven shall be compared to ten virgins who taking their lamps, went out to a meeting of the bridegroom. ² And five of them were wise, and five foolish. ³ Those being foolish, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them. ⁴ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. ⁵ But the bridegroom delaying, all nodded and slept. ⁶ And at midnight, a cry occurred: Behold, the bridegroom comes! Go out to meet him. ⁷ Then all those virgins arose and prepared their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out. ⁹ But the wise answered, saying, No, lest there not be enough for us and you. But rather, go to those who sell and buy for yourselves. ¹⁰ But they going away to buy, the bridegroom came. And those ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. ¹¹ And afterwards, the rest of the virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. ¹² But answering, he said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.

³⁴ And calling near the crowd with His disciples, He said to them, Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take his cross, and let him follow Me.

³² Stop being afraid, little flock, because your Father was pleased to give you the kingdom.

²³ And one said to Him, Lord, are the ones being saved few? But He said to them, ²⁴ Labor to enter in through the narrow gate, for I say to you that many will seek to enter in and will not have strength. ²⁵ From the time the Master of the house shall have risen up, and He shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. And answering, He will say to you, I do not know you. From where are you? ²⁶ Then you will begin to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets. ²⁷ And He will say, I tell you I do not know you, from where you are. "Stand back from Me all workers of unrighteousness!" Psa. 6:8 ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrust outside. ²⁹ And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And, behold, there are last ones who will be first, and there are first ones who will be last.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it has hated you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the Word which I said to you, A slave is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted Me, they also will persecute you. If they kept My Word, they also will keep yours.

² They will put you out of the synagogue, but an hour is coming that everyone killing you will think to bear a service before God.

³³ I have spoken these things to you that you may have peace in Me. You have distress in the world; but be encouraged, I have overcome the world.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁷ But Isaiah cries on behalf of Israel, "If the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved." ²⁸ For He is bringing the matter to an end, and having been cut short "in righteousness," "because the Lord" "will do a thing cut short" "on the earth." Isa. 10:22, 23 ²⁹ And as Isaiah has said before, "Except the Lord of hosts left a seed to us, we would have become as Sodom, and we would have become as Gomorrah." Isa. 1:9

³² Why? Because it was not of faith, but as of works of Law. For they stumbled at the Stone-of-stumbling,

⁵ So then, also in the present time a remnant according to election of grace has come into being. Isa. 29:10, Deut. 29:4 ⁶ But if by grace, no longer is it of works; else grace no longer becomes grace. But if of works, it is no longer grace; else work is no longer work.

² And be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, in order to prove by you what is the good and pleasing and perfect will of God.

² in which you then walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom we also all conducted ourselves in times past in the lusts of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and of the understandings, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as the rest.

² and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, in order to establish you and to encourage you concerning your faith, ³ that no one be drawn aside by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. ⁴ For even when we were with you, we said to you before that we are about to be afflicted, as it also happened, even you know. ⁵ Because of this, no longer enduring, I also sent to know your faith, that the tempting one not somehow tempt you, and our labor should become to no avail.

²⁰ to disobeying ones, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, an ark having been prepared in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. ²¹ Which figure now also saves us, baptism (not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
