³⁴ But I say to you, Do not swear at all, neither by Heaven, because it is God's throne; Isa. 66:1

²¹ When you shall vow a vow to Jehovah your God, you shall not delay to perform it; for Jehovah your God will certainly require it of you, and it shall be sin to you. ²² But if you shall forebear to vow, it shall be no sin to you. ²³ That which has gone out of your lips, you shall keep, and shall do it. According as you have vowed as a freewill offering to Jehovah your God, do even that which you have promised with your mouth.

² All happens alike to all; one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good, and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him who sacrifices, and to him who does not sacrifice. As is the good, so is the sinner; he who swears is as he that fears an oath.

¹⁵ For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, and His name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble of spirit; to make live the spirit of the humble and to make live the heart of the contrite ones.

¹ So says Jehovah: Heaven is My throne, and earth the footstool of My feet. Where then is the house that you build for Me? And where then is the place of My rest?

¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whoever swears by the Holy Place, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the Holy Place is a debtor. ¹⁷ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold, or the Holy Place that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And you say, Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift on it, he is a debtor. ¹⁹ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Then the one swearing by the altar swears by it, and by all things on it. ²¹ And the one swearing by the Holy Place swears by it, and by the One dwelling in it. ²² And the one swearing by Heaven swears by the throne of God, and by the One sitting on it.

¹² But before all things, my brothers, do not swear, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor any other oath. But let your yes be yes, and the no, no, that you may not fall under judgment.
