⁴² For I hungered, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I thirsted, and you gave me nothing to drink;

⁶ who drink bowls of wine, and they anoint with the best of oils; but they are not grieved for the breaking of Joseph!

³⁷ He that loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he that loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁸ And whoever does not take up his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

³⁰ The one who is not with Me is against Me, and the one who does not gather with Me scatters.

³⁵ For I hungered, and you gave Me food to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in;

²³ so that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. The one not honoring the Son does not honor the Father who has sent Him.

⁴² Then Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I went forth and have come from God. For I have not come from Myself, but that One sent Me. ⁴³ Why do you not know My speech? It is because you are not able to hear My Word. ⁴⁴ You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. That one was a murderer from the beginning, and he has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, because he is a liar, and the father of it.

²¹ He that has My commandments and keeps them, it is that one who loves Me; and the one that loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and will reveal Myself to him.

²² If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be a curse. The Lord comes!

¹⁵ But if a brother or a sister is naked and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and any one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain is it ? ¹⁷ So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead being by itself. ¹⁸ But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith out of my works. ¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well; even the demons believe and shudder. ²⁰ But are you willing to know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? ²¹ Was not our father Abraham justified by works offering up his son Isaac on the altar? Gen. 22:9 ²² You see that faith worked with his works; and out of the works the faith was made perfected. ²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled, saying, "And Abraham believed God, and it was counted for righteousness to him;" and he was called, Friend of God. Gen. 15:6; Isa. 41:8 ²⁴ You see, then, that a man is justified out of works, and not out of faith only.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life because we love the brothers. The one not loving the brother remains in death. ¹⁵ Everyone hating the brother is a murderer, and you know that every murderer does not have everlasting life abiding in him. ¹⁶ By this we have known the love of God, because that One laid down His life for us; and on behalf of the brothers we ought to lay down our lives. ¹⁷ Whoever has the means of life of the world, and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his bowels from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

²⁰ If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar. For the one not loving his brother whom he has seen, how is he able to love God whom he has not seen?
