⁵ But you say, Whoever says to the father or the mother, A gift, whatever you would gain from me;

¹⁸ And you say, Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift on it, he is a debtor.

⁴ But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to be godly to their own house and to make a return payment to their forebears, for this is good and pleasing before God. ⁵ But honor the one being really a widow, even having been left alone, who has set her hope on God and continues in petitions and prayers night and day. ⁶ But she who lives in self-pleasure has died while living. ⁷ And enjoin these things that they may be blameless. ⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
