⁶ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear? says Jehovah of hosts to you, O priests who despise My name. But you say, In what have we despised Your name?

²² And you shall speak to Pharaoh, So says Jehovah, My son, My first-born is Israel. ²³ And I said to you, Send My son away, and let him serve Me; and you refused to send him. Behold, I am about to kill your son, your first-born!

¹² Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long on the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you.

³ Each man of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My sabbaths; I am Jehovah your God.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God has commanded you, so that your days may be prolonged, and so that it may be well with you in the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you.

²⁸ even to choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be priest to Me, to go up on My altar, to cause incense to smoke, to bear an ephod before Me? And did I give to your father's house all the fire offerings of the sons of Israel? ²⁹ Why do you kick at My sacrifice and at My offering which I commanded in My habitation? And why do you honor your sons above Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of My people? ³⁰ So says Jehovah the God of Israel, I said indeed that your house and your father's house should walk before Me until forever. But now Jehovah says, Be it far from Me! For those who honor Me, I will honor; and those despising Me will be despicable.

¹¹ A generation curses its father, and does not bless its mother,

¹⁷ The eye that mocks its father, and despises to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the sons of the eagle shall eat it.

² Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth! For Jehovah has spoken: I have nursed and brought up sons, but they have rebelled against Me.

⁸ But now, Jehovah, You are our Father. We are the clay, and You are our Former; yea, we all are Your handiwork.

²¹ Yet I planted you a choice vine, wholly a true seed. How then have you turned into the degenerate shoots of an alien vine to Me? ²² Though you wash yourself with potash, and multiply soap for yourself, your iniquity is stained before Me, declares the Lord Jehovah.

³⁰ An astounding and horrible thing has happened in the land. ³¹ The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their hands; and My people love it so. And what will you do at the end of it?

¹¹ For both prophet and priest are ungodly; yea, I have found their evil in My house, says Jehovah.

⁹ They shall come with weeping, and I will lead them with prayers. I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a right way; they will not stumble in it. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My first-born.

²⁶ Her priests have violated My law and have profaned My holy things. They have not divided between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and clean they have not taught. And they have hidden their eyes from the sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

⁶ My people are cut off for lack of knowledge. Because you rejected the knowledge, I also rejected you from being priest to Me. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will forget your sons, even I.

¹ Hear this, O priests, and listen, house of Israel. And give ear, house of the king. For the judgment is toward you, because you have been a snare to Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.

⁸ And Ephraim said, I am rich; I have found much wealth for myself. In all my labors they shall find in me no iniquity that is sin.

⁸ But you have turned out of the way; you have caused many to stumble at the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁴ Yet you say, On what cause ? Because Jehovah has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously; and she is your companion and your covenant wife. ¹⁵ And has He not made you one? Yet the vestige of the Spirit is in him. And what of the one? He was seeking a seed of God. Then guard your spirit, and do not deal treacherously with the wife of your youth. ¹⁶ Jehovah, the God of Israel, says, He hates sending away, and to cover with violence on his garment, says Jehovah of hosts. Then guard your spirit and do not act treacherously. ¹⁷ You have wearied Jehovah with your words. Yet you say, In what have we wearied Him? When you say, Every evildoer is good in the eyes of Jehovah, and He delights in them; or, Where is the God of justice?

⁷ From the days of your fathers, you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them . Return to Me, and I will return to you, says Jehovah of hosts. But you say, In what shall we return? ⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me. But you say, In what have we robbed You? In the tithe and the offering!

¹³ Your words have been strong against Me, says Jehovah. Yet you say, What have we spoken against you? ¹⁴ You have said, It is vain to serve God. And, What profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked as mourners before Jehovah of hosts?

⁹ So, then, you should pray this way: Our Father who is in Heaven, let be sanctified Your name.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if you will not forgive men their offenses, neither will your Father forgive your offenses.

²¹ Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.

⁴ For God commanded, saying, "Honor your father and mother," Ex. 20:12; Deut. 5:16 and, "The one speaking evil of father or mother, by death let him die." Ex. 21:17

⁶ and in no way he honors his father or his mother. And you annulled the command of God on account of your tradition.

¹⁹ You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not commit murder, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother. Ex. 20:12-16

³⁶ Therefore, be merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.

⁴⁶ And why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?

²⁹ But desiring to justify himself, he said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

²⁰ You know the commandments: "Do not commit adultery," "do not murder," "do not steal," "do not bear false witness," "honor your father and your mother." Ex. 20:12-16

¹³ You call Me the Teacher, and, the Lord. And you say well, for I AM. ¹⁴ If then I washed your feet, the Lord and the Teacher, you also ought to wash the feet of one another. ¹⁵ For I gave you an example, that as I did to you, you also should do. ¹⁶ Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his lord, nor a messenger greater than the one sending him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

² "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise, Ex. 20:12

¹ Let as many as are slaves under a yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name and teaching of God may not be blasphemed. ² And those having believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve as slaves, because they are believing and beloved ones, those receiving of the good service in return. Teach and exhort these things.

⁹ Let slaves be subject to their own masters, well-pleasing in all things, not speaking against them, ¹⁰ not stealing, but showing all good faith, that they may adorn the doctrine of our Savior God in all things.

¹⁷ And if you call on the Father, the One judging according to the work of each one without respect to persons, pass the time of your sojourning in fear,

¹⁷ honor all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be obedient to your masters in all fear, not only to those good and forbearing, but also to the perverse ones . ¹⁹ For this is a grace, if because of conscience toward God anyone bears grief, suffering unjustly.
