⁴⁰ And Joshua struck all the land: the heights and the Negeb, and the Lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings; he did not leave a survivor, but he destroyed all that breathed, as Jehovah the God of Israel had commanded.

³¹ And I will set your border from the Sea of Reeds as far as the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness as far as the River. For I will give the people of the land into your hand. And you shall drive them out before you. ³² You shall not cut a covenant for them and for their gods. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin towards Me. Surely when you serve their gods, it will be a snare to you.

¹² Take heed to yourself, hat you not cut a covenant with the people of the land to which you are going in, that it not be a snare in your midst.

⁷ turn and pull up stakes and go into the hills of the Amorites, and to all its neighboring places in the Arabah in the hills, and in the low country, and in the Negeb, and in the shore of the sea, the land of the Canaanites and of Lebanon, to the great river, the Euphrates River.

² And when Jehovah your God shall give them up before you, and you strike them, then you shall utterly destroy them; you shall not cut a covenant with them, nor show mercy to them; ³ nor shall you intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter to your son. ⁴ For he will turn your son away from following Me, that they may serve other gods; and the anger of Jehovah will glow against you, and He will destroy you quickly. ⁵ But you shall deal with them in this way: you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces the cult-stones; and you shall cut down their pillars; and you will burn their carved images with fire. ⁶ For you are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God has chosen you to be His own treasure out of all the people on the face of the earth. ⁷ Jehovah did not set His love on you or choose you because you were more in number than any people, for you were the fewest of all peoples. ⁸ But because Jehovah loved you, and because He kept the oath which He swore to your fathers, Jehovah has caused you to go out with a strong hand, and redeemed you from the house of slaves, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹ Because of this, know that Jehovah your God, He is God, the faithful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to those who love Him, and to those who keep His commands, to a thousand generations; ¹⁰ and repaying to his face those that hate Him, to destroy him; He will not delay, He will repay him who hates Him to His face. ¹¹ And you shall keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the ordinances which I am commanding you today, to do them. ¹² And it shall be, because you hear judgments, and keep and do them, even Jehovah your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. ¹³ And He will love you, and bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your oxen and the wealth of your flock, in the land which He has sworn to your fathers, to give it to you. ¹⁴ You shall be blessed above all people; there shall not be a barren man or a barren woman among you, nor among your livestock. ¹⁵ And Jehovah shall turn aside every sickness from you; and He will not put on you any of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you have known, but He will put them on all who hate you. ¹⁶ And you shall destroy all the peoples whom Jehovah your God is giving to you. And your eye shall have no pity on them; and you shall not serve their gods; for it shall be a snare to you.

²⁴ And He shall give their kings into your hand; and you shall destroy their name from under the heavens. No man shall be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.

¹⁶ But of the cities of these peoples which Jehovah your God is giving to you as an inheritance, you shall not keep alive any that breathes. ¹⁷ But you shall utterly destroy them the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, as Jehovah your God has commanded you;

¹⁶ Today Jehovah your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances. You shall take heed to do them with all your heart, and with all your soul. ¹⁷ You have today declared Jehovah to be your God, and to walk in His ways, and to keep His statutes and His commands, and His judgments, and to pay attention to His voice.

¹⁷ And the city shall be devoted to Jehovah, it and all that are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

² And you shall do to Ai and to its king as you have done to Jericho and its king. Only, its spoil and its cattle you shall take for yourselves. Set yourself an ambush for the city behind it.

²⁷ Only, Israel seized for themselves the livestock, and the plunder of the city, according to the word of Jehovah which He commanded Joshua.

²⁴ And they answered Joshua and said, Because it was certainly told to your servants what Jehovah your God commanded His servant Moses, to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land before you; and we were greatly afraid for ourselves, because of you. But the Jebusites dwell with the sons of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

²¹ And the cities for the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by their families, were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, and the valley of Keziz,

⁴⁰ The seventh lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Dan by their families. ⁴¹ And the border of their inheritance was Zorah, and Eshtaol, and I-rshemesh, ⁴² and Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jethlah, ⁴³ and Elon, and Timnah, and Ekron, ⁴⁴ and Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath, ⁴⁵ and Jehud, and Beneberak, and Gath-rimmon, ⁴⁶ and Mejarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho. ⁴⁷ And the border of the sons of Dan came out too little for them. And the sons of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and struck it with the mouth of the sword, and possessed it, and lived in it. And they called Leshem Dan, after the name of their father Dan. ⁴⁸ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan by their families, these cities and their villages.

²⁹ And it happened when he reigned, he struck all the house of Jeroboam; he did not leave Jeroboam any who breathed, until he had destroyed him. according to the saying of Jehovah which He spoke by His servant Ahijah the man of Shiloh;

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned to Sheol, all the nations forgetting God.
