¹ Blow a ram's horn in Zion, and shout an alarm in My holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. For the day of Jehovah approaches; it is near, ² a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spread out on the mountains, a great and a strong people. There has never been the like, nor shall there ever be again to the years of many generations; ³ a fire devours before it, and a flame burns behind it. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them is a desolate wilderness; yea, also there is no escape to them. ⁴ Their appearance is like horses; and as war horses, so they run. ⁵ They shall leap like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, like the noise of flames of fire that devour the chaff, as a strong people set in order for battle. ⁶ Before their face, the people shall be pained; all faces collect heat. ⁷ They shall run as mighty ones; they shall go up the wall as men of war. And they each go on his way, and they do not change their paths. ⁸ And each does not press his brother; they each go in his paths. And if they fall behind their weapon, they shall not be cut off. ⁹ They shall rush on the city; they shall run on the wall; they shall climb up on the houses; they shall enter in by the windows, like a thief. ¹⁰ The earth shall quake before them, the heavens shall shake. The sun and moon shall grow dark, and the stars shall gather in their light. ¹¹ And Jehovah shall give His voice before His army, for His camp is very great. For he who does His word is strong. For the day of Jehovah is very great and terrifying, and who can endure it? ¹² Yet even now turn to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning, declares Jehovah. ¹³ Yea, tear your heart, and not your robes; and turn to Jehovah your God. For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and He pities concerning the evil. ¹⁴ Who knows if He will turn and have pity and leave a blessing behind Him, a food offering and a drink offering for Jehovah your God? ¹⁵ Blow a ram's horn in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly. ¹⁶ Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, gather the elders, gather the children, and those who suck the breasts. Let the bridegroom go out of his room, and the bride out of her room. ¹⁷ Let the priests, ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar; and let them say, Have pity on Your people, O Jehovah, and do not give Your inheritance to shame, for a proverb among those of the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God? ¹⁸ Then Jehovah will be jealous for His land and have pity on His people. ¹⁹ Yea, Jehovah will answer and say to His people, Behold, I will send you grain, and wine, and oil, and you shall be satisfied with it. And I will no more make you a curse among the nations. ²⁰ But I will remove the northern army far from you, and I will drive him into a dry and desolated land with his face toward the eastern sea, and his rear toward the western sea. And his stench shall come up, and his ill odor shall come up, because he was doing great things. ²¹ Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice, for Jehovah is doing great things. ²² Fear not, beasts of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness grow green, for the tree bears its fruit, the fig tree and the vine give their strength. ²³ Then be glad, sons of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God. For He has given to you the early rain according to righteousness, and He will cause the rain to come down for you, the early rain and the latter rain in the first month . ²⁴ And the floors shall be full with grain, and the wine vats shall overflow with wine and oil. ²⁵ And I will restore to you the years which the swarming locust has eaten, the locust larvae, and the stripping locust, and the cutting locust, My great army which I sent among you. ²⁶ And you shall eat fully and be satisfied; and you shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And My people shall not be ashamed forever. ²⁷ And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and there is no other. And My people shall not be ashamed forever. ²⁸ And it shall be afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. ²⁹ And also I will pour out My Spirit on the slaves and on the slave girls in those days. ³⁰ And I will give signs in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and columns of smoke. ³¹ The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of Jehovah. ³² For it shall be, all who shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be saved. For salvation shall be in Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, as Jehovah has said, and among the saved whom Jehovah shall call.

³ And when they blow with them, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

⁵ And when you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall then pull up. ⁶ And when you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall pull up; they shall blow an alarm for their journeys. ⁷ But when the assembly is gathered, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm. ⁸ And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets. And they shall be to you for a never ending statute throughout your generations. ⁹ And when you go into battle in your land against the foe distressing you, then you shall blow with the trumpets, and you shall be remembered before Jehovah your God. And you shall be saved from your enemies.

²⁸ And all Israel was bringing up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of a horn, and with trumpets, and cymbals, sounding aloud with lyres and harps.

³ And when I heard this thing, I tore my garments and my robe, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down stunned. ⁴ Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel were gathered to me, because of the perfidy of the exiles. And I remained stunned until the evening offering.

¹²⁰ My flesh has shivered because of Your fear; and I have feared Your judgments.

¹² For the day of Jehovah of Hosts shall be on all the proud and lofty ones, and on all that is lifted up; and it will be abased;

² And My hand has made all these things, even all these things exist, declares Jehovah. But I will look toward this one, to the afflicted, and to the contrite of spirit, even trembling at My word.

⁵ Hear the word of Jehovah, those who tremble at His word. Your brothers who hate you, who drive you out for My name's sake, have said, Jehovah is glorified. But He shall appear in your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

⁵ Declare in Judah, and sound out in Jerusalem, and say, Blow the ram's horn in the land. Cry, fulfill and say, Assemble yourselves and go into the fortified cities.

²² Do you not fear Me, declares Jehovah? Will you not tremble before My face, that I have placed the sand as the boundary for the sea by a never ending decree, so that it cannot cross over it? And though they toss themselves, yet they cannot prevail; though its waves roar, yet they cannot cross over it.

⁷ Nor shall anyone break for them in mourning, to comfort him for the dead. Nor shall they give them the cup of comfort to drink for one's father or one's mother.

¹⁰ And it shall be, when you declare to this people all these words, they will say to you, Why has Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? Or what is our iniquity, or what our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God?

⁵ So says the Lord Jehovah: An evil! An only evil! Behold, it has come! ⁶ An end has come, the end has come! It has awakened against you, behold, it has come! ⁷ The encirclement has come to you, O dwellers of the land. The time has come, the day of tumult is near, and not a shout of the hills.

¹⁰ Behold the day! Behold, it has come, the encirclement has gone out, the rod has blossomed, and pride has budded.

¹² The time has come, the day has arrived. Do not let the buyer rejoice, and do not let the sellers mourn, for wrath is on all her multitude.

²³ Therefore, tell them, So says the Lord Jehovah: I will make this proverb cease, and they shall not use it again in Israel. However, say to them, The days draw near, and the matter of every vision.

³ and when he sees the sword coming on the land, and he blows the ram's horn and warns the people,

⁶ But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the ram's horn, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes a soul from them, he is taken in his iniquity. But I will require his blood from the watchman's hand.

²⁶ A decree was given from before me that in all the domain of my kingdom there shall be trembling and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God and endures forever, and His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed. And His rule shall be to the end.

¹⁶ O Lord, I pray to You, according to all Your righteousness, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain. For because of our sins and of our fathers' iniquities, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us.

²⁰ And while I was speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and making my cry fall before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God.

⁸ Blow a horn in Gibeah, a trumpet in Ramah. Cry aloud, Bethaven; after you, O Benjamin.

¹ Put a horn to your mouth. He comes like an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have broken My covenant and have sinned against My law.

¹⁵ Alas for the day! For the day of Jehovah is at hand. And it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

¹⁵ Blow a ram's horn in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.

¹⁷ And you shall know that I am Jehovah your God dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. And Jerusalem shall be a holy thing, and aliens shall no more pass through her.

⁶ If a ram's horn is blowing in a city, will the people not also tremble? If there is a calamity in a city, has Jehovah not even done it ?

² And He said, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. And Jehovah said to me, The end has come on My people Israel; I will not again pass over him any more.

¹⁵ For the day of Jehovah is near on all the nations: As you have done, it shall be done to you; your reward shall return on your head!

¹⁴ The great day of Jehovah is near; it is near and rushing greatly, the sound of the day of Jehovah. The mighty man shall cry out bitterly there.

¹⁶ a day of the ram's horn and alarm against the fortified cities, and against the high towers.

¹¹ In that day you shall not be ashamed from all your doings in which you have transgressed against Me. For then I will take away those who rejoice in your pride out of your midst, and you shall not again be proud any more in My holy mountain.

³ So says Jehovah: I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth, and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, the holy mountain.

¹ For, behold, the day is coming, burning like a fire pot; and all the proud and every doer of wickedness shall be chaff. And the coming day will set them ablaze, says Jehovah of hosts, which will not leave root or branches to them.

¹² So, then, my beloved, even as you always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much rather in my absence, cultivate your salvation with fear and trembling,

² For you yourselves know accurately the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.

⁸ You also be long-suffering. Set your hearts firmly, because the coming of the Lord has drawn near.

⁷ But the end of all things has drawn near. Be of sound mind, then, and be sensible to prayers;

⁶ And your houses will be full, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of the Egyptians, which neither your fathers nor the fathers of your fathers have seen; from the day of their being on the earth until this day. And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.

¹⁴ And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested on all the territory of Egypt, exceedingly many. Never were there locusts like them before, and afterward none will be like them.

²¹ And the people stood from a distance, and Moses went near the thick darkness where God was .

⁷ Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he shall tell you; your elders, and they shall tell you;

⁶ He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved! From generation to generation never will I be in evil.

² Clouds and darkness are all around Him; righteousness and judgment are the foundation of His throne.

³⁰ And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; when one looks to the land, and lo, darkness! Distress! And light shall be darkened by its clouds.

²² And they shall look to the land. And, behold, trouble and darkness and gloom of anguish; and they are driven to darkness.

¹⁶ Give glory to Jehovah your God before He brings darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains. Yea, while you look for light, He puts it into death shade, setting up deep gloom.

¹² And He has confirmed His words which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judge us, by bringing on us a great evil. For under the whole heavens it has not been done as it has been done to Jerusalem.

¹ And at that time, Michael shall stand up, the great ruler who stands for the sons of your people. And there shall be a time of distress, such as has not been from the existence of a nation until that time. And at that time, your people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found written in the Book.

² Hear this, you old men, and give ear, all you people of the land. Has this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? ³ Tell your sons about it, and your sons to their sons, and their sons to another generation.

⁶ For a nation has come up on my land, strong and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the jaw teeth of a lioness.

¹⁴ Multitudes, multitudes in valley of decision! For the day of Jehovah is near in the valley of decision. ¹⁵ The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall gather in their light.

¹³ For, behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind and declares to man what His thought is, He who makes the dawn darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth, Jehovah, the God of Hosts, is His name.

¹⁸ Woe to those desiring the day of Jehovah! What is this for you? The day of Jehovah is darkness, and not light. ¹⁹ It is as if a man fled before a lion, and the bear met him. Or he goes into the house and leans his hand against the wall, and a snake bites him. ²⁰ Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light; even very dark, and not any brightness in it?

¹⁴ The great day of Jehovah is near; it is near and rushing greatly, the sound of the day of Jehovah. The mighty man shall cry out bitterly there. ¹⁵ That day is a day of wrath, a day of adversity and distress, a day of waste and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

¹⁹ for there will be affliction in those days, such as has not been the like from the beginning of creation which God created until now, and never will be.

¹⁸ For you have not drawn near to the mountain being touched, and having been lit with fire, and to gloom, and darkness, and tempest,

¹³ wild waves of the sea foaming up their shames, wandering stars for whom blackness of darkness has been kept forever.

⁸ And Jehovah God planted a garden in Eden to the east; and He put the man whom He had formed there.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the circuit of Jordan, that it was well-watered before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even like the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt as you come to Zoar.

⁵ And they will cover the eye of the land, and no one will be able to see the land. And they will eat the rest of that which escaped, that which is left to you from the hail. And they will eat every tree that sprouts to you from the field.

¹⁵ And they covered the eye of the earth, and the land became dark. And they ate every plant of the land, and all the fruit of the trees that the hail had left. And no greenness was left in the trees and in the plants of the field in all the land of Egypt.

³ Our God comes, and He is not silent; a fire shall devour before Him; and it shall be very stormy around Him.

³⁴ He spoke, and locusts came; and larvae without number; ³⁵ and they ate up all the plants in the land; yea, ate the fruit of their ground.

³ For Jehovah comforts Zion. He comforts all her desolations, and He makes her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah; joy and gladness shall be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of singing praise.

¹⁷ And they will eat up your harvest and your food, and they will devour your sons and your daughters. They will eat up your flocks and your herds; they will eat up your vines and your fig trees. One shall beat down your fortified cities with the sword, those in which you trust.

⁸ The cedars did not overshadow him in the garden of God. The fir trees were not like his boughs, and the plane trees were not like his branches. Every tree in the garden of God was not like him in its beauty. ⁹ I have made him beautiful by his many branches, and all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God envied him.

⁴ What was left by the cutter, the swarming locust ate; and that left of the swarming locust, the locust larvae ate; and that left of the locust larvae, the stripping locust ate. ⁵ Awake, drunkards, and weep. And wail, all wine drinkers, over the grape must, for it is cut off from your mouth. ⁶ For a nation has come up on my land, strong and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the jaw teeth of a lioness. ⁷ He has laid my vine waste and has splintered my fig tree. He has stripped it, and he threw it away; its branches grow white.

¹⁹ O Jehovah, to You I will cry, for the fire has burned up the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field. ²⁰ The beasts of the field also cry to You, for the rivers of water are dried up, and the fire has burned up the pastures of the wilderness.

⁴ The Lord Jehovah made me to see this: And, behold, the Lord Jehovah was calling to contend by fire. And it consumed the great deep, and it was devouring part of it.

¹⁴ But I stormed them away on all the nations whom they did not know. And the land is desolated behind them, from passing and from returning; for they made the land of desire a waste.

⁷ And the likenesses of the locusts were like horses having been prepared for war; and on their heads as crowns, like gold; and their faces like the faces of men.

²⁴ So, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and the flame burns up the chaff; their root shall be like rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up like dust, because they have cast away the law of Jehovah of Hosts; and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

³⁰ And Jehovah shall make the majesty of His voice heard; and He shows His arm coming down with raging anger and flame of consuming fire, cloudburst and storm, and hailstones.

³ The shield of his mighty ones has become red, the mighty men are clothed in scarlet, the chariots will flame like iron torches in the day of preparation, and the cypresses are made to quiver. ⁴ The chariots run madly in the streets; they shall rush to and fro in the plazas. Their appearance is like torches; they dart about like the lightnings.

² The sound of a whip, and the sound of rattling of a wheel, and a galloping horse, and of a bounding chariot. ³ The horseman lifts up both the gleam of the sword and the lightning of the spear, and many are slain, and there are a mass of dead bodies, and no end of corpses; they stumble on their dead bodies,

¹² whose fan is in His hand, and He will cleanse His floor and will gather His wheat into the barn. But He will burn up the chaff with fire that cannot be put out.

⁹ And they had breastplates like iron breastplates; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running to war.

⁸³ For I am like a wineskin in the smoke; I do not forget Your statutes.

⁸ and they shall be afraid. Pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain like a woman bearing; they shall be amazed, each man to his neighbor; faces of flames shall be their faces.

²¹ For the breaking of the daughter of my people, I am broken. I mourn; horror has taken hold on me.

⁶ Ask now and see whether a man is giving birth? Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins, like a woman in travail, and all faces are turned to paleness?

⁸ Their appearance is darker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it is dried up, it has become like wood.

¹⁰ She is empty, even waste, even devastated. And the heart is melted, and the knees knocking; and trembling is in all the loins; and all of their faces collect heat.

²³ Saul and Jonathan! They were beloved and delightful in their lives; and in their death they were not parted. They were swifter than eagles; they were stronger than lions.

¹⁸ And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel. And Asahel was swift with his feet, like one of the gazelles in the field. ¹⁹ And Asahel ran after Abner, and did not turn to go to the right or to the left from following Abner.

⁸ And David said on that day, Anyone who strikes the Jebusite, let him touch at the water shaft and capture the lame and the blind, the hated of the soul of David. On this account they say, The blind and the lame shall not enter into the house.

⁵ and he comes forth like a bridegroom from his canopy. He rejoices like a hero to run a race;

²⁷ the locusts have no king, yet they go out in a swarm, all of them;

²⁶ And He will lift up a banner to distant nations, and will hiss to them from the ends of the earth; and, behold, it shall come with swift speed! ²⁷ None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none will slumber nor sleep; nor shall the waist cloth of their loins be opened, nor the thong of their sandals broken; ²⁸ whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hooves shall appear as flint, and their wheels like a hurricane. ²⁹ Their roaring shall be like a lion; they shall roar like young lions. Yea, they roar and seize the prey, and carry it away; and no one shall deliver.

¹⁰ Go up on her vine rows and destroy, but do not make a full end. Take away her branches, for they are not Jehovah's.

⁹ They shall rush on the city; they shall run on the wall; they shall climb up on the houses; they shall enter in by the windows, like a thief.

¹⁰ And he stationed all of the people, and each had his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, at the altar, and by the king at the house all around.

⁵ And he made himself strong and built all the wall that was broken, and raised on it the towers, and another at the outside of the wall, and strengthened Millo, the city of David, and made darts in abundance, and shields.

¹⁷ the ones who built on the wall, and the ones who carried a burden, bearing with one of his hands, a worker in the work; and one holder of the weapon.

²³ So neither I, nor my brothers, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me, none of us put off our clothes, though each had his vessel of water.

¹⁸ He holds back his soul from the Pit, and his life from passing by the sword.

¹² But if they do not obey, they shall pass away by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

¹³ Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with excellent fruits, with henna and spikenard;

²¹ For death has come into our windows, entering into our fortified palaces, to cut off the children from the street, the young men from the plazas.

¹ Truly, truly, I say to you, the one not entering through the door into the sheepfold, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.

⁷ Then the earth shook and trembled; and the foundations of the mountains moved and were shaken, because it angered Him.

⁷ Tremble, O earth, from the face of the Lord, from the face of the God of Jacob;

¹⁰ For the stars of the heavens and their constellations shall not give light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not reflect its light.

⁴ And all the host of the heavens shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together like a scroll. Then all their host shall droop, as a leaf drooping from the vine, and as the drooping from a fig tree.

²³ I looked on the earth, and, behold! It was without form and void; and to the heavens, and they had no light.

⁷ And I will cover the heavens when I quench you, and I will darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. ⁸ I will darken all the shining lights in the heavens over you and will give darkness on your land, declares the Lord Jehovah.

⁸ He who created the Pleiades and Orion, and turns the deep darkness into the morning, and He darkened the day into night; who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth, Jehovah is His name;

⁵ The mountains quake from Him, and the hills melt; and the earth is lifted up from before Him, even the world and all who dwell in it.

²⁹ And immediately after the affliction of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

⁵¹ And, behold, the veil of the Holy Place was torn into two from top to bottom. And the earth quaked, and the rocks were sheared!

²⁴ But in those days, after that affliction, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light; ²⁵ and the stars of the heaven will be falling, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

²⁵ And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars. And on the earth will be anxiety of nations with bewilderment, roaring of sea and of surf, ²⁶ men fainting from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the earth. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

²⁰ The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the" "coming of the great and glorious" "day of the Lord."

¹² And I saw when He opened the sixth seal. And behold, a great earthquake occurred. And the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair; and the moon became as blood;

¹² And the fourth angel trumpeted. And the third part of the sun, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, was struck, that the third part of them might be darkened, and the third part of the day might not appear; and in the same way the night.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and the One sitting on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled; and a place was not found for them.

²³ And he took up his parable and said, Alas! Who shall live when God puts out?

¹⁴ Jehovah thundered from the heavens, and the Most High gave forth His voice. ¹⁵ And He sent forth arrows and scattered them; lightning, and troubled them;

⁶ The nations roared; kingdoms were shaken; He gave forth His voice and the earth melted.

¹⁸ And it shall be, in that day Jehovah shall hiss for the fly that is in the end of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee in the land of Assyria.

⁴ The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as of a great people! A noise of tumult of the kingdoms of nations gathered together; Jehovah of Hosts is calling up an army for the battle.

¹³ Jehovah shall go out as a warrior; and He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war; He shall shout, yea, roar; He shall act mightily on His enemies.

³⁰ And now you prophesy against them all these words, and say to them, Jehovah shall roar from on high and utter His voice from His holy habitation; He shall mightily roar over His dwelling place. He answers with a shout, like those who tread out the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

⁷ Alas! For that day is great, for none is like it. And it is a time of Jacob's trouble, but he will be saved out of it.

³⁴ Their Redeemer is strong, Jehovah of Hosts is His name. He shall surely plead their cause, so that He may give rest to the land, and make to tremble the dwellers of Babylon.

¹⁴ Can your heart stand, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I, Jehovah, have spoken, and I will act.

¹⁶ And Jehovah roars from Zion, and He gives His voice from Jerusalem. And the heavens and the earth quake. But Jehovah is a refuge for His people and a fortress to the sons of Israel.

² And he said: Jehovah will roar from Zion and utter His voice from Jerusalem. And the pastures of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall dry up.

¹⁸ Woe to those desiring the day of Jehovah! What is this for you? The day of Jehovah is darkness, and not light.

²⁰ Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light; even very dark, and not any brightness in it?

⁶ Who can stand before His fury? And who can rise against the heat of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken down because of Him.

² But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap.

¹⁷ because the great day of His wrath has come; and who is able to stand?

⁸ Because of this, in one day her plagues shall come: death, and mourning, and famine; and she will be consumed with fire, for the Lord God judging her is strong.

²⁹ And if you shall seek Jehovah your God from there, then you shall find Him, if you seek Him with your whole heart, and with all your soul, ³⁰ in your distress, when all these things have found you, in the latter days, then you shall return to Jehovah your God, and shall listen to His voice.

²⁶ And all the sons of Israel went up, even all the people, and came to Bethel, and wept. And they sat there before Jehovah, and fasted on that day until the evening, and caused burnt offerings and peace offerings to ascend before Jehovah.

³ And Samuel said to all the house of Israel, saying, If you are returning to Jehovah with all your heart, put aside the alien gods from among you, and the Ashtoreths. And prepare your heart to Jehovah, and serve Him only, and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

⁶ And they were gathered to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured out before Jehovah. And they fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the sons of Israel in Mizpah.

⁴⁷ and they have turned their heart back in the land where they have been taken captive, and have repented, and made supplication to You in the land of their captors, saying, We have sinned and done perversely; we have done wickedly; ⁴⁸ and, they have turned back to You with all their heart, and with all the their soul, in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed to You the way of their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have built for Your name, ⁴⁹ then You shall hear their prayer and their supplication in Heaven Your dwellingplace, and shall maintain their cause,

³⁸ yea, they shall turn back to You with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, where they have been taken captive, and they shall pray toward their land that You have given to their fathers, and toward the city that You have chosen and toward the house that I have built for Your name; ³⁹ then You shall hear from Heaven, from Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and shall maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

¹³ If I shut up the heavens and there is no rain and if I command the locusts to consume the land, and if I send pestilence among My people, ¹⁴ and My people, on whom My name is called, shall be humbled, and shall pray, and shall seek My face, and shall turn back from their evil ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

³ And Jehoshaphat feared, and set his face to seek to Jehovah, and proclaimed a fast over all Judah. ⁴ And Judah was gathered to inquire of Jehovah; also they came in to seek Jehovah from all the cities of Judah.

¹ And on the twenty fourth day of this month the sons of Israel were gathered with fasting and with sackcloth, and with earth on them. ² And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all the sons of aliens, and they stood and confessed their sins and the sins of their fathers.

¹² And in that day the Lord Jehovah of Hosts called to weeping and mourning; and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth.

⁶ Seek Jehovah while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way and the vain man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

¹ If you will return, O Israel, says Jehovah, return to Me. And if you will put away your hateful idols out of My face and will not waver,

¹² Then you shall call on Me, and you shall go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. ¹³ And you shall seek and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

⁴⁰ Let us search and examine our ways, and turn again to Jehovah. ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart and palms to God in Heaven.

¹ Come and let us return to Jehovah. For He has torn, and He will heal us. He has stricken, and He will bind us up.

⁶ For this reason, you return to your God; keep mercy and judgment, and wait on your God continually.

¹ O Israel, return to Jehovah your God, for you have fallen by your sin.

⁵ And the men of Nineveh believed in God, and they called a fast and put on sackclothes, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ⁶ And the word touched even to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he took his robe from him and covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes. ⁷ And he cried and said in Nineveh by the decree of the king and of his great ones, saying, Do not let man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them feed nor let them drink water. ⁸ But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. And let them call with strength to God. And let them each one turn from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their palms.

³ And you say to them, So says Jehovah of hosts: Turn to Me, says Jehovah of hosts, and I will turn to you, says Jehovah of hosts. ⁴ Do not be as your fathers, to whom the former prophets have proclaimed to them, saying, So says Jehovah of hosts: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil doings. But they did not hear or give heed to Me, says Jehovah.

³ to speak to the priests who belong to the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, consecrating myself as I have done these many years?

⁵ Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months, even those seventy years, did you truly fast to Me, even to Me?

¹⁰ And I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of prayers. And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they shall be bitter over Him, like the bitterness over the first-born. ¹¹ In that day the mourning in Jerusalem shall be great, like the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the valley of Megiddo. ¹² And the land shall mourn, each family apart: the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; ¹³ the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; ¹⁴ all the families who remain, each family apart, and their wives apart.

²⁰ but to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I announced the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners! And purify your hearts, double minded ones! ⁹ Be distressed, and mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy into shame.

²⁹ And Reuben came back to the pit. And, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he tore his clothes.

³⁴ And Jacob tore his clothing and put sackcloth on his loins. And he mourned many days for his son.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before his face and called out: Jehovah! Jehovah God! Merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and great in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and not leaving entirely unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on sons, and on sons of sons, to the third and to the fourth generation.

¹⁸ Jehovah is slow to anger, and of great mercy, bearing away iniquity and transgression; and by no means will clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the sons, on the third and on the fourth generation .

¹¹ And David took hold on his garments and tore them; and also all the men with him did so.

²⁷ And it happened, when Ahab heard these words, he tore his garments, and put sackcloth on his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

⁷ And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his garments and said, Am I God, to kill and to keep alive, that this one is sending to me to recover a man from his leprosy? For consider now, and see for he is coiling himself toward me.

³⁰ And it happened when the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his garments. And he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked. And, behold, the sackcloth was inside on his flesh.

¹¹ And it happened when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his garments.

¹⁹ (because your heart was tender, and you have bowed before Jehovah when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against its inhabitants, to become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes, and have wept before Me;) even also I have heard, says Jehovah.

¹⁷ And they refused to obey, and were not mindful of Your wonders which You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return them to their bondage. But You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and did not forsake them.

²⁰ And Job rose up and tore his robe, and shaved his head. And he fell down on the ground and worshiped.

¹⁸ Jehovah is near those who are broken-hearted, and saves those who have a contrite spirit.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

⁵ For You, O Lord, are good and ready to forgive, and rich in mercy to all who call on You.

¹⁵ But You, O God, are God, full of pity; and gracious, longsuffering and rich in mercy and truth.

⁸ Jehovah is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and of much mercy.

⁴⁵ He remembered His covenant for them, and breathed a sigh, according to His many mercies.

⁷ They shall express the memory of Your great goodness, and they shall sing of Your righteousness. ⁸ Jehovah is gracious and merciful, long to anger and of great mercy; ⁹ Jehovah is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.

¹⁵ For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, and His name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble of spirit; to make live the spirit of the humble and to make live the heart of the contrite ones.

⁵ Is this like the fast I will choose, a day for a man to afflict his soul? To bow his head down like a bulrush, and he spreads sackcloth and ashes? Will you call to this as a fast and a day of delight to Jehovah?

⁷ The instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, or to break down, or to destroy; ⁸ if that nation against whom I have spoken will turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to it.

⁴ And Jehovah said to him, Pass through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and mark a mark on the foreheads of the men who are groaning and are mourning over all the abominations that are done in her midst.

² And it happened when it had made an end of eating the vegetation of the land, then I said, Lord Jehovah, I beg You, forgive. How can Jacob stand? For he is small. ³ Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, says Jehovah. ⁴ The Lord Jehovah made me to see this: And, behold, the Lord Jehovah was calling to contend by fire. And it consumed the great deep, and it was devouring part of it. ⁵ Then I said, Lord Jehovah, I beg You, stop. How can Jacob stand? For he is small. ⁶ Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, says the Lord Jehovah.

² And he prayed to Jehovah, and said, Please, O Jehovah, was this not my word while I was on my own land? On account of this, I fled to Tarshish before, for I knew that You are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and One who repents over calamity.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, forgiving iniquity and passing by the transgression of the remnant of His possession? He does not make strong His anger forever, for He delights in grace.

³ Jehovah takes long to anger, and is great of power, and He does not by any means acquit the guilty . Jehovah has His way in the tempest and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit! For theirs is the kingdom of the Heavens. ⁴ Blessed are they who mourn! For they shall be comforted.

¹⁶ And when you fast, do not be as the hypocrites, darkening the face, for they disfigure their faces so that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you that they have their reward. ¹⁷ But you in fasting, anoint your head and wash your face, ¹⁸ so as not to appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father in secret. And your Father seeing in secret will repay you in the open.

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, and the forbearance and the longsuffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

²⁰ But Law came in beside, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace much more abounded, ²¹ that as sin ruled in death, so also grace might rule through righteousness to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

⁸ For bodily exercise is profitable to a little, but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the present life and of that coming.

¹⁹ So that, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. ²⁰ For the wrath of man does not work out the righteousness of God.

³⁰ And it happened on the morrow, Moses said to the people, You have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to Jehovah; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.

¹² And now, give to me this mountain, of which Jehovah spoke in that day, for you heard in that day how the son of Anak were there, and great walled cities. If Jehovah shall be with me, then I shall expel them, as Jehovah has spoken.

⁵ And you shall make images of your hemorrhoids, and images of your mice that are corrupting the land, and shall give honor to the God of Israel. It may be that He will lighten His hand from off you and from off your gods, and from off your land.

²² And he said, While the boy was alive, I fasted and wept. For I said, Who knows? Jehovah may be gracious to me and the boy may stay alive.

⁴ It may be that Jehovah your God will hear all the words of the chief cupbearer, with which his master the king of Assyria has sent him to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which Jehovah your God has heard; and you shall lift up prayer for the remnant that is found.

⁸ So says Jehovah: As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one says, Do not destroy it, for a blessing is in it; so I will do for the sake of My servants, not to destroy the whole.

³ It may be that they will listen, and each man turn from his evil way, that I may repent of the evil which I plan to do to them because of the evil of their doings.

⁹ The food offering and the drink offering have been cut off from the house of Jehovah; the priests, Jehovah's ministers, mourn.

¹³ Gird up and lament, priests. Howl, ministers of the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, ministers of my God. For the food offering and the drink offering are held back from the house of your God.

¹⁶ Is not the food cut off before your eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

¹⁵ Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate. It may be that Jehovah the God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

⁶ And the chief of the seamen came near to him and said to him, What is it to you, O sound sleeper? Rise up and cry out to your God! It may be our god will notice us, and we will not perish.

⁹ Who knows? He may turn, and God may have pity and turn away from the glow of His anger, that we do not perish.

³ Seek Jehovah, all the meek of the earth who have done His justice; seek righteousness; seek meekness. It may be you shall be hidden in the day of the anger of Jehovah.

¹⁹ Is the seed still in the barn? Yes, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth. From this day I will bless them .

⁵ Therefore, I thought it necessary to exhort the brothers, that they go forward to you and arrange beforehand your promised blessing, this to be ready, thus as a blessing and not as greediness. ⁶ And this: the one sowing sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one sowing on hope of blessings will also reap on blessings. ⁷ Each one as he purposes in his heart, not out of grief or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. Prov. 22:8 ⁸ And God is able to make all grace to abound toward you, that in everything, always having all self sufficiency, you may abound to every good work; ⁹ even as it has been written, "He scattered, he gave to the poor, his righteousness abides forever." Psa. 112:9 ¹⁰ Now He that supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating, may He supply and multiply your seed and increase the fruits of your righteousness, ¹¹ in everything you being enriched to all generosity, which works out thanksgiving to God through us.

²⁵ in meekness teaching those who have opposed, if perhaps God may give them repentance for a full knowledge of the truth,

⁹ And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people.

¹² They proclaimed a fast, and made Naboth to sit at the head of the people.

²⁰ And Jehu said, Consecrate an assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it .

⁹ And it happened in the fifth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, they called a fast before Jehovah, to all the people of Jerusalem, and to all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ Set apart a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather the elders, all the inhabitants of the land, into the house of Jehovah your God, and cry to Jehovah.

¹ Blow a ram's horn in Zion, and shout an alarm in My holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. For the day of Jehovah approaches; it is near,

¹⁰ And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow. And let them wash their clothes.

¹⁵ And he said to the people, Be ready for the third day. Do not approach a woman.

²² And also the priests, those approaching Jehovah, let them sanctify themselves that Jehovah not burst forth among them.

¹⁰ You are standing today, all of you, before Jehovah your God; your rulers, your tribes your elders, and your officers, every man of Israel; ¹¹ your little ones, your wives, and your alien who is in the midst of your camps, from the woodchopper to the one drawing your water;

¹³ Rise up, sanctify the people, and you shall say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow. For so says Jehovah, the God of Israel, A cursed thing is among you, Israel; you are not able to stand before your enemies until you take away the cursed thing from among you.

⁵ And he said, Peace! I have come to sacrifice to Jehovah. Sanctify yourselves and you shall come to me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

¹³ And all Judah was standing before Jehovah, and their infants and their wives and their sons.

⁵ And he said to them, Hear me, O Levites, now consecrate yourselves. And consecrate the house of Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and bring out the uncleanness from the holy place.

²³ And they brought the he goats of the sin offering before the king and the congregation, and they lay their hands on them; ²⁴ and the priests slaughtered them, and made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to atone for all Israel; for the king said, The burnt offering and the sin offering are for all Israel.

¹⁷ For many in the assembly had not sanctified themselves, and the Levites were over the slaughtering of the passover offerings for everyone not clean, to sanctify them to Jehovah.

¹⁹ everyone who has prepared his heart to seek Jehovah God, the God of his fathers, yet not according to the cleansing of the sanctuary.

⁶ and kill the passover offering and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of Jehovah, by the hand of Moses.

⁵ And it happened, when the day of feasting had gone around, Job would send and sanctify them. And he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt sacrifices according to all their number. For Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. This Job always did.

¹⁵ And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken from them, and then they will fast.

⁵ Do not deprive one another, unless by agreement for a time, that you may be free for fasting and prayer. And come together again on the same place, that Satan may not tempt you through your incontinence.

¹¹ And Moses prayed before the face of Jehovah his God, and he said, Why, O Jehovah, does Your anger glow against Your people whom You caused to go up from the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? ¹² Why should the Egyptians say, For evil He has caused them to go up, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them on the face of the earth? Turn from Your fierce anger and be moved to pity as to the evil to Your people. ¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Yourself, and You spoke to them, I will multiply your seed like the stars of the heavens, and all this land which I have said, I will give to your seed. And they shall possess it forever.

⁹ And he said, If now I have found favor in Your eyes, O lord, please let my lord go in our midst, for it is a stiffnecked people; and You forgive our iniquity and our sin, and take us as a possession.

¹⁴ And they will say to the inhabitant of this land, They have heard that You, Jehovah, are in the midst of this people, who is seen eye with eye. You are Jehovah, and Your cloud stands over them; in a pillar of cloud You go before them by day, and in a pillar of fire by night. ¹⁵ And will You execute this people as one man? Then the nations who have heard Your fame will speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because Jehovah is not able to bring this people into the land which He swore to them, therefore He has slain them in the wilderness.

¹⁶ and I looked; and, behold! You had sinned against Jehovah your God; you had made a casted calf for yourselves; you had quickly turned out of the way which Jehovah had commanded you. ¹⁷ And I took hold of the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes. ¹⁸ And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water; because of all your sins which you had sinned, in doing that which was evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to make Him angry. ¹⁹ For I was afraid because of the anger and the fury with which Jehovah had been angry against you, to destroy you. And Jehovah listened to me at this time also. ²⁰ And Jehovah was very angry with Aaron, to destroy him, and I also prayed for Aaron at that time. ²¹ And I took your sin, the calf which you made, and I burned it with fire, and beat it, grinding it very small until it was as fine as dust; and I threw its dust into the torrent that came down out of the mountain. ²² And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at The Graves of Lust you provoked Jehovah to anger. ²³ And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given to you, then you rebelled against the mouth of Jehovah your God, and did not believe Him, nor listen to His voice. ²⁴ You have been rebels against Jehovah from the day that I knew you. ²⁵ And I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and the forty nights as I had thrown myself down before, for Jehovah had said to destroy you. ²⁶ And I prayed to Jehovah, and said, O Lord Jehovah, do not destroy Your people, and Your inheritance whom You have redeemed in Your greatness; whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand. ²⁷ Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; do not look to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness nor to their sin, ²⁸ lest the land from which You brought us say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which He promised them; and, because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness. ²⁹ And they are Your people, and Your inheritance, whom You have brought out by Your great power, and by Your stretched out arm.

³⁷ And you shall be an astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Jehovah shall lead you.

²⁷ saying, Were it not the provocation of an enemy I feared, that their foes should judge amiss, that they might not say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this.

³ As to the porch on the front of the temple of the house, its length was twenty cubits according to the breadth of the house; its breadth on the front of the house was ten cubits.

⁷ then I shall cut off Israel from the face of the land that I have given to them, and the house that I have hallowed for My name I shall send away from My face, and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

²⁰ then I shall pluck them up from off My land that I have given them, and this house that I have sanctified for My name I shall cast away from before My face, and I shall give it for a proverb and a byword among all the nations.

¹² Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to Jehovah on the altar of Jehovah that he had built before the porch,

³⁶ Behold, we are slaves today, even the land that You gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are slaves in it.

³ My tears have been my food by day and by night, while they say to me all the day long, Where is your God?

¹⁰ My oppressors reproach me with crushing in my bones. when they say to me every day, Where is your God?

¹⁰ You make us turn back from the oppressor; yea, our haters plunder for themselves. ¹¹ You have given us like sheep for food and have scattered us among the nations. ¹² For no gain You have sold Your people, and You are not increased by their price. ¹³ You made us a disgrace to our neighbors, a scorn and a mockery to those around us. ¹⁴ You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

¹⁰ O God, until when shall the enemy defame You ? Shall the enemy scorn Your name forever?

¹⁸ Remember this: the enemy has defamed, O Jehovah; and a foolish people have scorned Your name. ¹⁹ Do not give the soul of Your turtledove to the wild beasts; You will not forever forget the life of Your afflicted ones. ²⁰ Look to Your covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full, the abodes of violence. ²¹ O let not the ill-treated ones turn back ashamed; let the poor and needy praise Your name. ²² Arise, O God, contend for Your cause; remember Your reproach from the fool all the day. ²³ Do not forget the voice of Your enemies; the noise of those rising up against You is going up continually.

⁴ We have become a shame to our neighbors a scorn and a mockery to those who are around us.

¹⁰ Why should the nations say, Where is their God? Let Him be known among the nations before our eyes, the avenging of the blood of Your servants that has been poured out.

⁴¹ All who pass by the way plunder him; he is a curse to his neighbors.

⁵¹ with which Your enemies have cursed, O Jehovah; with which they have cursed the footsteps of Your anointed.

² Why do the nations say, Where is their God now?

²⁰ And now, O Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are Jehovah, You alone.

¹⁷ O Jehovah, why do You make us wander from Your ways? You harden our heart from Your fear. For Your servants' sake, return the tribes of Your inheritance. ¹⁸ For a little while Your holy people possessed it. Our enemies have trampled Your sanctuary. ¹⁹ We are of old; You never ruled over them. Your name was never called on them.

⁹ Do not be extremely angry, Jehovah, and do not remember iniquity forever. Behold! look, please; all of us are Your people. ¹⁰ Your holy cities are a wilderness; Zion is a wilderness; Jerusalem is a desolation. ¹¹ The house of our holiness and our beauty where our fathers praised You has become a burning of fire, and all our pleasant things have become a ruin. ¹² Will You restrain Yourself over these things, Jehovah? Will you be silent and sorely afflict us?

¹⁶ And he brought me into the inner court of the house of Jehovah. And, behold, at the opening of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty five men with their backs to the temple of Jehovah, and their faces eastward. And they bowed themselves eastward to the sun.

⁹ But I worked for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were, for I made Myself known to them in their eyes, by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

⁴ Therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: So says the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the wastes of desolation, and to the forsaken cities which became a prey and a mocking to the rest of the nations all around. ⁵ So the Lord Jehovah says this: Surely I have spoken in the fire of My jealousy against the rest of the nations, and against Edom, all those of her who have given My land to themselves for a possession with all joy of heart, with scorning of soul, in order to make it open land for a prey. ⁶ So prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, So says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations. ⁷ So the Lord Jehovah says this: I have lifted up My hand, surely the nations that surround you, they shall bear their shame.

¹⁸ O my God, bow down Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our ruins and the city which is called by Your name. For we do not present our prayers before You on account of our righteousnesses, but because of Your great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay, for Your own sake, O my God. For Your name is called on Your city and on Your people.

² Take words with you and return to Jehovah. Say to Him, Take away all iniquity and receive us well, that we may repay with the calves of our lips.

² And it happened when it had made an end of eating the vegetation of the land, then I said, Lord Jehovah, I beg You, forgive. How can Jacob stand? For he is small.

⁵ Then I said, Lord Jehovah, I beg You, stop. How can Jacob stand? For he is small.

¹⁰ And my enemy shall see; and shame shall cover her, the one saying to me, Where is He, Jehovah your God? My eyes shall look on her. Now she shall be for a trampling, as the mud of the streets.

⁹ And now entreat the face of God, that He favor us. This has been by your hands; will He lift up your faces? says Jehovah of hosts.

³⁵ so that should come on you all the righteous blood poured out on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Berechiah whom you murdered between the Holy Place and the altar.

⁴³ He trusted on God. Let Him rescue him now, if He desires him. For he said, I am Son of God.

¹⁶ With strange gods they moved Him to jealousy; and with idols they provoked Him to anger.

³⁶ For Jehovah will bring His people justice; and He shall have compassion on His servants, for He sees that their power is gone, and only the imprisoned and abandoned remain .

⁴³ Rejoice, O nations, of His people; for He shall avenge the blood of His servants, and shall render vengeance to His foes, and shall have mercy on His land and His people.

¹⁶ And they removed the gods of the alien from among them, and served Jehovah. And His soul was grieved with the misery of Israel.

¹³ As the pity of a father over his sons, so Jehovah pities those who fear Him.

¹⁷ But the mercy of Jehovah is from everlasting, even to everlasting, on those who fear Him; yea, His righteousness is to the sons of sons;

¹⁰ And the sons of the stranger shall build your walls; and their kings shall serve you. For I struck you in My wrath, but I pitied you in My favor.

⁹ In all their affliction, He was not a foe; and the Angel of his Face saved them. In His love and in His pity He redeemed them. And He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

¹⁵ Look down from Heaven and peer from the place of Your holiness and your glory. Where is Your zeal and Your might? The stirring of Your affections and Your mercies toward me, are they held back?

²⁰ Is Ephraim My dear son? Or is he a delightful child? For as often as I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still. So My bowels groan for him; I will surely have pity on him, declares Jehovah.

²² It is by the kindnesses of Jehovah that we are not consumed, for His mercies are not ended.

⁸ How shall I give you up, Ephraim? Shall I deliver you, Israel? How shall I make you like Admah? Shall I set you as Zeboim? My heart has turned within Me; My compassions are kindled together. ⁹ I will not carry out the heat of My anger; I will not return to destroy Ephraim. For I am God, and not a man, the Holy One in your midst. And I will not enter into the city.

¹⁴ So the angel who was talking with me said to me, Cry out, saying, So says Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion, with a great jealousy.

² So says Jehovah of hosts: I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great wrath.

²⁰ And rising up, he came to his father. But he yet being far away, his father saw him and was moved with pity. And running, he fell on his neck and fervently kissed him.

¹¹ Behold, we call those blessed who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job, and you saw the end of the Lord, "that the Lord is full of tender mercy and pity." Psa. 103:8

⁸ Jehovah has sworn by His right hand, and by the might of His arm: Surely I will no longer give your grain as food for your enemies; and the sons of a stranger shall not drink your new wine for which you have labored. ⁹ But those who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise Jehovah. And they who have collected it shall drink it in My holy courts.

²¹ And they shall build houses and live in them; and they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. ²² They shall not build, and another live in them; they shall not plant, and another eat. For like the days of the tree are the days of My people; and My elect shall grow old to the work of their hands. ²³ They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for terror. For they are the seed of the beloved ones of Jehovah, and their offspring with them. ²⁴ And it will be, before they call, I will answer. While they are speaking, then I will hear.

¹² And they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and be radiant over the goodness of Jehovah, for grain, and for wine, and for oil, and for the sons of the flock and the herd. And their life shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not pine away any more at all.

²⁹ And I will raise up for them a noted planting place, and they shall not any more be of those gathered by famine in the land. And they shall not any more bear the shame of the nations.

¹⁵ And I will not let you bear the shame of the nations any longer, and you shall not bear the disgrace of the peoples any more, and you shall not cause your nations to fall any more, declares the Lord Jehovah.

²⁹ And I will not any more hide My face from them, for I have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁵ And from there I will give her vineyards to her, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope. And she shall answer there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ The field is wasted; the land mourns, for the grain is wasted. The new wine is dried up, the oil tree droops.

²⁴ And the floors shall be full with grain, and the wine vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

¹³ Behold, the days are coming, declares Jehovah, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who draws along seed. And the mountains shall drop new must, and all the hills will be dissolved. ¹⁴ And I will again bring the captivity of My people Israel. And they shall build the waste cities, and live in them . And they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine of them. They shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

¹⁶ from then onward, one came to a heap of twenty measures, and there were but ten. One came to the wine vat to draw out fifty from the wine trough, and there were but twenty. ¹⁷ I struck you with blight, and with mildew, and with hail, in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me, says Jehovah. ¹⁸ Now set your heart from this day and forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that Jehovah's temple was established. Set your heart: ¹⁹ Is the seed still in the barn? Yes, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth. From this day I will bless them .

¹⁰ Bring all the tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. And test Me now with this, says Jehovah of hosts, whether I will not open the windows of the heavens for you and pour out a blessing until there is no sufficiency. ¹¹ And I will rebuke the devourer for you, and he shall not destroy the fruit of your ground against you; nor shall your vine miscarry against you in the field, says Jehovah of hosts. ¹² And all nations shall call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land, says Jehovah of hosts.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

¹⁹ And Jehovah changed to a west wind, very strong. And it carried the locusts and threw them into the Sea of Reeds. Not one locust was left in all the territory of Egypt.

²⁴ Every place where the sole of your foot treads shall be yours, from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the Euphrates River even to the furthest sea shall be your border.

¹³ And Hazael said, But what! Is your servant a dog that he should do this great thing? And Elisha said, Jehovah has shown me that you will be king over Syria.

³ And their slain shall be thrown out; and the stench from their carcasses shall rise; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

¹⁴ And Jehovah said to me, Out of the north evil will be set loose on all the inhabitants of the land. ¹⁵ For, behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, declares Jehovah. And they shall come, and they shall each one set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and all against its walls all around, and against the cities of Judah.

¹² And the house of Israel shall bury them, in order to cleanse the land, seven months. ¹³ And the people of the land shall bury. And it shall be for a name to them, the day when I am glorified, declares the Lord Jehovah. ¹⁴ And they shall separate men who continually pass through the land, burying those who passed through, who remain on the face of the earth, to cleanse it. At the end of seven months, they shall make a search. ¹⁵ And as they pass, those who pass through the land, and any man sees a bone, then he shall build a post beside it, until the buriers have buried it in The Valley of the Multitude of Gog. ¹⁶ And also the name of the city is The Multitude. And they shall cleanse the land.

⁷ When I returned, then, behold, on the lip of the torrent were many trees on this side and on that side. ⁸ And he said to me, These waters go out toward the eastern circuit, and go down into the Arabah, and enter the sea. They are brought out into the sea, and the waters shall be healed.

¹⁸ And you shall measure the east side from between Hauran, and Damascus, and Gilead, and the land of Israel; shall be the Jordan, from the border to the Eastern Sea, and this is the east side.

⁴ What was left by the cutter, the swarming locust ate; and that left of the swarming locust, the locust larvae ate; and that left of the locust larvae, the stripping locust ate. ⁵ Awake, drunkards, and weep. And wail, all wine drinkers, over the grape must, for it is cut off from your mouth. ⁶ For a nation has come up on my land, strong and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the jaw teeth of a lioness.

² a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spread out on the mountains, a great and a strong people. There has never been the like, nor shall there ever be again to the years of many generations; ³ a fire devours before it, and a flame burns behind it. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them is a desolate wilderness; yea, also there is no escape to them. ⁴ Their appearance is like horses; and as war horses, so they run. ⁵ They shall leap like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, like the noise of flames of fire that devour the chaff, as a strong people set in order for battle. ⁶ Before their face, the people shall be pained; all faces collect heat. ⁷ They shall run as mighty ones; they shall go up the wall as men of war. And they each go on his way, and they do not change their paths. ⁸ And each does not press his brother; they each go in his paths. And if they fall behind their weapon, they shall not be cut off. ⁹ They shall rush on the city; they shall run on the wall; they shall climb up on the houses; they shall enter in by the windows, like a thief.

¹⁰ I have sent a plague among you in the way of Egypt; I have killed your young men with the sword and your horses with captivity. And I have made the stench of your camps to come up even into your nostrils; yet you have not returned to Me, declares Jehovah.

⁸ And it shall be in that day, living waters shall go out from Jerusalem, half of them shall go toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter it shall be.

¹ After these things the word of Jehovah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not fear, Abram; I am your shield, your reward will increase greatly.

³² For ask now of the days past which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the heavens to the other end of the heavens, whether there has been a thing as great as this, or has anything like it been heard.

¹⁶ Also, now present yourselves and see this great thing that Jehovah will do before your eyes.

²⁴ Only fear Jehovah and serve Him in truth with all your heart, for see that He has done great things for you.

¹² The pastures of the wilderness drop, and the little hills gird themselves with joy. ¹³ The meadows are outfitted with flocks; the valleys are also covered with grain; they shout for joy and sing.

¹⁹ And, Your righteousness, O God, is to the heights, You who have done great things. O God, who is like You?

¹¹ Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and the fullness of it. ¹² Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it; then the trees of the forest shall rejoice

⁸ Let the rivers clap their hands; let the heights shout for joy together

¹ A Song of Ascents. When Jehovah turned back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. ² Then our mouth was full of laughter, and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, Jehovah will work great things with these. ³ Jehovah did great things to work with us; we are glad.

¹ The wilderness and dry land shall rejoice for them; and the desert shall exult and bloom like the crocus.

¹⁰ Do not fear, for I am with you; do not gaze about, for I am your God; I will make you strong; yea, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.

²³ Sing, O heavens, for Jehovah has done it . Shout, O lower parts of the earth; burst forth into praise, O mountains. O forest and every tree in it, sing praise, because Jehovah has redeemed Jacob, and glorifies Himself in Israel.

⁴ Do not fear, for you shall not be shamed, nor shall you be abashed, for you shall not be wounded. For you shall forget the shame of your youth, and you shall not remember the reproach of your widowhood any more.

¹² For you shall go out with joy and be led out with peace. The mountains and the hills shall break out into song before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap the palm.

⁹ but they shall serve Jehovah their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. ¹⁰ And you, O My servant Jacob, do not fear, says Jehovah. Do not be terrified, O Israel. For, lo, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob shall return, and have quiet, and be untroubled, and no one will make him afraid.

³ Call to Me, and I will answer you; and I will tell you great and inscrutable things; you do not know them.

²¹ And it shall be in that day, I will answer, says Jehovah. I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth.

²⁰ But I will remove the northern army far from you, and I will drive him into a dry and desolated land with his face toward the eastern sea, and his rear toward the western sea. And his stench shall come up, and his ill odor shall come up, because he was doing great things.

¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear not! Zion, do not let your hands droop. ¹⁷ Jehovah your God is mighty in your midst; He will save. He will rejoice over you with joy; He is silent in His love. He rejoices over you with a joyful shout.

¹⁵ So again I have purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem, and the house of Judah. Do not fear.

¹² When you till the ground, it will not again give its strength to you. You shall be a vagabond and a fugitive on the earth.

⁴ then I will give you rains in their season, and the land shall yield her produce, and the tree of the field shall give its fruit; ⁵ and your threshing shall reach to the vintage, and the vintage shall reach to the sowing time; and you shall eat your bread to satisfaction, and live in your land securely.

⁶ Your righteousness is like the hills of God; Your judgments are a great deep; O Jehovah, You preserve animal and man.

¹² The pastures of the wilderness drop, and the little hills gird themselves with joy.

⁶ The earth has given its increase; God, our own God, shall bless us.

¹¹ they give drink to every animal of the field; wild asses break their thirst; ¹² over them the birds of the heavens dwell; they give voice from between the branches. ¹³ He waters the hills from His upper rooms; the earth is satisfied from the fruit of Your works. ¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for the service of man, to bring food out of the earth.

²⁷ All of them wait for You to give them their food in due season. ²⁸ You give to them; they gather; You open Your hand, and they are filled with good. ²⁹ You hide Your face, and they are troubled; You gather their breath, and they expire and return to their dust.

³⁵ He puts the wilderness into waterponds; and dry land into water-springs; ³⁶ and He makes the hungry live there, and they may prepare a city of dwelling. ³⁷ And they sow the fields, and plant vineyards, and make fruits of produce. ³⁸ He also blesses them, so that they multiply greatly; and He does not allow their cattle to diminish;

¹⁵ The eyes of all hope to You; and You give them their food in due time. ¹⁶ You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

⁸ who covers the heavens with clouds; who prepares rain for the earth; who makes grass to grow on the mountains. ⁹ He gives the animals their food, to the young ravens that cry.

²³ Then He shall give rain for your seed, with which you sow the ground. And the bread of the produce of the earth also shall be fat and plentiful. In that day your livestock shall feed in a pasture made wide. ²⁴ Also, the oxen and the young asses that till the ground shall eat seasoned fodder which one winnows with the shovel and with the fork.

²⁶ And I will make them and the places around My hill a blessing. And I will bring down the shower in its season, there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase. And they shall be securely on their land. And they shall know that I am Jehovah when I have broken the staffs of their yoke, and have rescued them from the hand of those who enslaved them.

⁸ But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall put out your branches and your fruit, you shall bear for My people Israel. For they are drawing near to come.

³⁰ And I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, in order that you will not any more receive the disgrace of famine among the nations.

³⁵ And they shall say, This land that was desolated has become like the garden of Eden. And the wasted and desolated and razed cities are fortified and inhabited.

⁵ I will be as the dew to Israel; he shall blossom as the lily and cast out his roots like Lebanon. ⁶ His branches shall go out, and his beauty shall be like the olive tree, and his scent as Lebanon to Him. ⁷ They who live under his shadow shall return; they shall live like the grain, and blossom like the vine; their memorial shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

¹⁸ How the beasts groan! The herds of livestock are vexed, for there is no pasture for them. Even the flocks of sheep are perishing.

¹⁴ And I will again bring the captivity of My people Israel. And they shall build the waste cities, and live in them . And they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine of them. They shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. ¹⁵ And I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be pulled up out of their land which I have given to them, says Jehovah your God.

¹¹ and should I not have pity on Nineveh, the great city in which are more than a hundred and twenty thousand men who do not know between the right and the left hand, and many cattle?

¹⁶ from then onward, one came to a heap of twenty measures, and there were but ten. One came to the wine vat to draw out fifty from the wine trough, and there were but twenty.

¹² For there shall be peace for the seed: the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its produce, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these.

⁷ So as neither he planting is anything, nor he watering, but God making to grow.

⁴ then I will give you rains in their season, and the land shall yield her produce, and the tree of the field shall give its fruit;

¹⁴ that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your wine, and your oil.

¹² Jehovah shall open to you His good treasure, the heavens to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

² My doctrine shall drop as the rain; my speech shall drop down as the dew, as the small rain on the tender plant, and as the showers on the grass;

²³ If there is a messenger for him, a mediator, one among a thousand, to declare for man his uprightness,

⁷ Jehovah is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; yea, my heart greatly rejoices; and I will thank Him with my song.

¹¹ Be glad in Jehovah and rejoice, you righteous ones; and all the upright in heart, shout for joy.

⁶ He shall descend like rain on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth. ⁷ In His days the righteous shall flourish, and plenty of peace, till the moon is not.

¹ O come, let us sing to Jehovah; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation. ² Let us come before His face with praise; let us shout for joy to Him with songs. ³ For Jehovah is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

³⁴ My thoughts on Him shall be sweet; I will be glad in Jehovah.

² Let Israel rejoice in His Makers; let the sons of Zion be joyful in their Kings.

¹⁵ In the light of the face of the king is life, and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.

² Behold, God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid, for my strength and song is Jah Jehovah; yea, He has become my salvation. ³ And you shall draw waters out of the wells of salvation with joy. ⁴ And in that day you shall say, Praise Jehovah! Call on His name; declare His doings among the peoples; make mention that His name is exalted. ⁵ Sing to Jehovah, for He has done majestically; this is known in all the earth. ⁶ Cry and shout, O dweller of Zion! For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst.

²¹ And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way, walk in it, when you go right, or when you go left.

²³ Then He shall give rain for your seed, with which you sow the ground. And the bread of the produce of the earth also shall be fat and plentiful. In that day your livestock shall feed in a pasture made wide.

¹⁶ You shall winnow them, and the wind will carry them away; and the tempest will scatter them. And you shall rejoice in Jehovah; you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah. My soul shall be joyful in my God. For He clothed me with garments of salvation; He put on me the robe of righteousness, even as a bridegroom puts on his ornament, and as the bride is adorned with her jewels.

³ And the showers are withheld, and there has been no latter rain. And the forehead of a woman, a harlot was to you; you refused to be ashamed.

²⁴ And they do not say in their heart, Let us now fear Jehovah our God who gives both the former and the latter rain in its season; He keeps for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

² The precious sons of Zion are weighed against pure gold. How they are counted as earthen vessels, the work of a potter's hand!

³ Then we shall know, we who follow on to know Jehovah. His going forth is established as the dawn. And He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

²⁸ And it shall be afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. ²⁹ And also I will pour out My Spirit on the slaves and on the slave girls in those days.

⁷ And I have also withheld the rain from you when it was yet three months to the harvest. And I caused rain to fall on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city. One piece was rained on, and the piece where it did not rain was dried up.

¹⁷ Though the fig tree shall not blossom, and fruit is not on the vines; the work of the olive fails, and the fields make no food; the flock is cut off from the fold, and no herd is in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will exult in Jehovah; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

¹⁴ Shout for joy, daughter of Zion; shout, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all the heart, daughter of Jerusalem! ¹⁵ Jehovah has turned off your judgments; He has turned away your enemy. Jehovah, the King of Israel, is in your midst; you shall not fear evil any more.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous and victorious, lowly, and riding on an ass, even on a colt, the son of an ass.

¹³ For I have bent Judah for Me as a bow; I filled it with Ephraim. And I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and make you as the sword of a mighty man.

¹ Ask rain from Jehovah in the time of the latter rain. Jehovah shall make storm clouds; and He gives them showers of rain, grass to everyone in the field.

⁷ And Ephraim shall be like a mighty one, and their heart shall be glad as by wine. And their sons shall see and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in Jehovah.

⁴⁶ And Mariam said, My soul magnifies the Lord, ⁴⁷ and my spirit exulted in God My Savior.

²⁶ but the Jerusalem from above is free, who is the mother of us all; ²⁷ for it has been written, "Be glad, barren one not bearing; break forth and shout, the one not travailing; for more are the children of the desolate rather than she having the husband." Isa. 54:1

⁸ Because of this, He says, "Having gone up on high, He led captivity captive," and gave "gifts to men." Psa. 68:18 ⁹ But that He went up, what is it except that He also first came down into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that came down is the same who also went up above all the heavens, that He might fill all things. ¹¹ And indeed He gave some to be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;

¹ For the rest my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you truly is not tiresome to me, but safe for you.

³ For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, and who glory in Christ Jesus, and who do not trust in flesh.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, Rejoice!

⁷ Therefore, brothers, be long-suffering until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being long-suffering over it until it may receive the early and the latter rain. ⁸ You also be long-suffering. Set your hearts firmly, because the coming of the Lord has drawn near.

¹⁰ And you shall eat very old provision, and clear away the old because of the new.

⁹ Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase, ¹⁰ and your barns shall be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst with new wine.

¹³ Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down, for the press is full, the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.

¹⁸ And it shall be in that day, the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the streams of Judah shall flow with waters. And a fountain shall come forth from the house of Jehovah, and it shall water the valley of Shittim.

¹³ Behold, the days are coming, declares Jehovah, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who draws along seed. And the mountains shall drop new must, and all the hills will be dissolved.

¹⁰ Bring all the tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. And test Me now with this, says Jehovah of hosts, whether I will not open the windows of the heavens for you and pour out a blessing until there is no sufficiency.

⁶ And I will make stronger the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph. And I will bring them back again to live, for I have pity on them. And they shall be as though I had not cast them off, for I am Jehovah their God, and I will answer them.

¹¹ Please take my blessing which has been brought to you, because God has favored me, and because I have all things. And he urged him; and he accepted.

⁵ and your threshing shall reach to the vintage, and the vintage shall reach to the sowing time; and you shall eat your bread to satisfaction, and live in your land securely.

²⁶ When I break to you the staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall give back your bread by weight; and you shall eat, and shall not be satisfied.

¹¹ and houses full of every good thing which you have not filled, and wells dug which you did not dig, vineyards and oliveyards which you did not plant; and you shall eat and be satisfied; ¹² and you shall be on guard that you not forget Jehovah who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves.

¹⁰ And you shall eat and be satisfied; and you shall bless Jehovah your God in the good land which He has given you.

⁷ And you shall eat there before Jehovah your God, and shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, with which Jehovah your God has blessed you.

¹² And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, you and your sons, and your daughters, and your male slaves, and your female slaves, and the Levite within your gates because he has no portion or inheritance with you.

¹⁸ But you shall eat it before Jehovah your God in the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, you and your son, and your daughter, and your male slave, and your female slave, and the Levite who is within your gates. And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God in all that you put your hand to .

¹⁰ And now, behold, I have brought in the first of the fruits of the ground which You have given me, O Jehovah. And you shall place it before Jehovah your God, and bow yourself before Jehovah your God, ¹¹ and rejoice in all the good which Jehovah your God has given to you, and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the alien who is in your midst.

²⁵ And they took strong cities and a rich land, and occupied houses full of all goods, wells already dug, vineyards and oliveyards and fruit trees in abundance. And they ate, and were filled, and became fat, and lived luxuriously in Your great goodness.

⁶ I will sing to Jehovah, because He has rewarded me.

²⁶ The meek shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek Jehovah shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever.

² O my God, I trust in You; do not let me be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me. ³ Yea, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; let those who vainly sin be ashamed.

¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in an evil time; and they shall be full in days of famine.

¹⁸ Blessed is Jehovah God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful things.

⁵ who satisfies your desire with good; your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

⁷ Return to your rest, O soul; for Jehovah has blessed you.

²⁵ The righteous eats to the satisfying of his appetite, but the belly of the wicked shall lack.

¹ I have come into My garden, My sister, My spouse; I have gathered My myrrh with My spice. I have eaten My honeycomb with My honey; I have drunk My wine with My milk. Eat and drink, O friends; yea, drink fully, beloved ones.

¹ O Jehovah, You are my God. I will exalt You; I will thank Your name; for You have done a wonderful thing: counsels from afar; faithful faithfulness.

²² So Jehovah says this: He who redeemed Abraham, as to the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not be ashamed now, nor shall his face become pale now.

¹⁷ Israel is saved in Jehovah with everlasting salvation. You shall not be ashamed nor disgraced to the forevers of eternity.

²³ And kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nurses. They shall bow to you, faces down to the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet. And you shall know that I am Jehovah, by whom they who wait for Me shall not be ashamed.

² Why do you weigh out silver for that which is not bread, and your labor for what never satisfies? Listen carefully to Me and eat the good; and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

²⁰ But I will remove the northern army far from you, and I will drive him into a dry and desolated land with his face toward the eastern sea, and his rear toward the western sea. And his stench shall come up, and his ill odor shall come up, because he was doing great things. ²¹ Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice, for Jehovah is doing great things.

¹⁴ You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and your hunger shall be in your midst. And you shall draw back, but shall not save; and that which you save, I will give up to the sword.

¹⁵ Jehovah of hosts shall defend them. And they shall devour and trample on the slingstones. And they shall drink and be boisterous, as with wine. And they shall be full like a bowl, like the corners of the altar.

¹⁷ For how great is its goodness, and how great its beauty! Grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

⁵ And the hope does not put us to shame, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us;

³³ as it has been written, "Behold, I place in" "Zion a Stone-of-stumbling," "and a Rock-of-offense," "and everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame." LXX and MT-Isa. 28:16; MT-Isa. 8:14

¹¹ For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame." Isa. 28:16

³ forbidding to marry, saying to abstain from foods, which God created for partaking with thanksgiving by the believers and those knowing the truth. ⁴ Because every creature of God is good, and nothing to be thrust away, but having been received with thanksgiving; ⁵ for through God's Word and prayerful intercourse, it is sanctified.

¹⁷ Charge the rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to set hope on the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, He offering to us richly all things for enjoyment;

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He is revealed we may have confidence, and not be shamed from Him in His coming.

¹¹ And I will set My tabernacle in your midst, and My soul shall not loathe you; ¹² and I shall walk always in your midst, and shall be God to you, and you, you shall be people to Me;

¹⁴ For Jehovah your God walks in the middle of your camp to deliver you and to give up your enemies before you; therefore your camp shall be holy, so that He may see no unclean thing in you, and turn away from you.

⁵ God is in the midst of her; she shall not be shaken; God will help her at the turning of the morning.

¹⁸ You have gone up on high; You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men; yea, to dwell among the rebellious, O Jehovah God.

⁶ Cry and shout, O dweller of Zion! For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst.

⁵ I am Jehovah, and there is none else; there is no God except Me. I will clothe you, though you do not know Me,

¹⁸ For so says Jehovah, Creator of the heavens; He is God, forming the earth and making it; He makes it stand, not creating it empty, but forming it to be inhabited. I am Jehovah, and there is none else.

²¹ Declare and bring near; yea, let them consult together. Who has revealed this of old; who has told it from then? Is it not I, Jehovah? And there is no God other than Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none except Me. ²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have each one turned to his own way; and Jehovah made meet in Him the iniquity of all of us.

²⁶ And I will cut a covenant of peace with them, an everlasting covenant it shall be with them, And I will place them and multiply them, and I will put My sanctuary in their midst forever. ²⁷ And My tabernacle shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ²⁸ And when My sanctuary shall be in their midst forever, the nations shall know that I, Jehovah, sanctify Israel.

²² So the house of Israel shall know that I am Jehovah their God, from that day and onward.

²⁸ then they shall know that I am Jehovah their God who exiled them among the nations. But I have gathered them to their own land and have not left any of them there.

²⁶ And you shall eat fully and be satisfied; and you shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And My people shall not be ashamed forever.

¹⁷ Jehovah your God is mighty in your midst; He will save. He will rejoice over you with joy; He is silent in His love. He rejoices over you with a joyful shout.

¹⁶ And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are a temple of the living God, even as God said, "I will" dwell in them and "walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Lev. 26:12; Ezek. 37:27

⁶ Because of this, it is also contained in the Scripture: "Behold," I lay in Zion" an elect, "precious Stone," "a Corner-foundation;" "and the one believing in Him shall never in any way be ashamed." Isa. 28:16

³ And I heard a great voice out of Heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God with men! And He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.

⁵ And Joseph dreamed a dream, and told it to his brothers. And they increased to hate him still more. ⁶ And he said to them, Now hear this dream which I have dreamed: ⁷ And, behold! We were binding sheaves in the middle of the field. And, behold, my sheaf rose up and also stood up. And, behold, your sheaves came around and bowed themselves to my sheaf. ⁸ And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us, or shall you really rule over us? And they hated him still more because of his dreams, and because of his words. ⁹ And he dreamed still another dream, and told it to his brothers. And he said, Behold, I have dreamed another dream: And, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars were bowing themselves to me. ¹⁰ And he told it to his father, and to his brothers. And his father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream which you have dreamed? Shall we indeed come to bow ourselves to the earth to you, I, your mother, and your brothers?

⁶ And He said, Now hear My words, If your prophet is of Jehovah, I shall make Myself known to him in an appearance; I will speak to him in a dream.

²³ Turn back at my warning; behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.

¹⁵ until is poured out on us the Spirit from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field; and the fruitful field is reckoned as a forest.

⁵ And the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken.

³ For I will pour water on a thirsty place, and floods on the dry ground. I will pour My Spirit on your seed, and My blessing on your offspring.

⁶ And He said, It is too little that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You for a light of the nations, that You may be My salvation to the end of the earth.

¹³ and all your sons will be taught of Jehovah; and the peace of your sons will be great.

²⁸ The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream. And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What has the straw to do with the grain, says Jehovah?

¹⁰ And I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of prayers. And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they shall be bitter over Him, like the bitterness over the first-born.

⁶ "and all flesh shall see the salvation of God." Isa. 40:35

³⁹ But He said this concerning the Spirit, whom the ones believing into Him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

² And suddenly a sound came out of the heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind! And it filled all the house where they were sitting. ³ And tongues as of fire appeared to them, being distributed, and it sat on each one of them. ⁴ And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave ability to them to speak.

¹⁶ But this is that which has been spoken by the prophet Joel, ¹⁷ "And it shall be" in the last days, God says, "I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy;" "and your young men shall see visions," "and your old men shall dream dreams;" ¹⁸ "and also I will pour out My Spirit on My slaves and slave women in those days," and they shall prophesy. ¹⁹ "And I will give wonders in the heaven above," and miracles "on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. ²⁰ The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the" "coming of the great and glorious" "day of the Lord." ²¹ "And it shall be that everyone who shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved." Joel 3:15

³³ Then being exalted to the right of God, and receiving the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

³⁹ For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.

⁴⁴ As Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those hearing the Word. ⁴⁵ And the faithful of the circumcision were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the nations also. ⁴⁶ For they heard them speaking in languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered, ⁴⁷ Can anyone forbid the water that these not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit received, even as we also?

¹⁵ And in my beginning to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as also on us in the beginning. ¹⁶ And I recalled the Word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit. ¹⁷ Then if God gave the same gift to them as also to us, believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, and I, who was I to be able to prevent God? ¹⁸ And hearing these things, they kept silent and glorified God, saying, Then God also has granted to the nations repentance unto life.

⁷ And much disputation having occurred, rising up Peter said to them: Men, brothers, you recognize that from ancient days, God chose among us that through my mouth the nations should hear the Word of the gospel, and to believe. ⁸ And the heart knowing God testified to them, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as also to us.

⁹ And there were four virgin daughters to this one, who prophesied.

²⁸ There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is no slave nor freeman, there is no male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

¹³ For also we all were baptized by one Spirit into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, even all were given to drink into one Spirit.

¹¹ where there is no Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, foreigner, Scythian, slave or freeman, but Christ is all things and in all.

²⁸ And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain. And he saw. And, behold, the smoke of the country went up like the smoke of a furnace.

²⁰ And the men of Ai looked behind them, and saw; and, behold! The smoke of the city had gone up into the sky. And there was no power in them to flee here or there. And the people who had fled to the wilderness turned back against the pursuers.

³⁸ And there was a sign set to the men of Israel with the ambush, to make it great, their causing a rising of smoke to go up from the city.

⁴⁰ And the rising of smoke began to go up from the city, a pillar. And Benjamin turned around, and, behold, the whole city had gone up toward the heavens.

⁶ Who is this who comes up out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, burned with myrrh and frankincense, from all powders of the merchant?

¹¹ Also there will be great earthquakes from place to place, and famines, and plagues. And also there will be terrors and great signs from Heaven.

¹⁹ "And I will give wonders in the heaven above," and miracles "on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. ²⁰ The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the" "coming of the great and glorious" "day of the Lord."

¹² And I saw when He opened the sixth seal. And behold, a great earthquake occurred. And the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair; and the moon became as blood; ¹³ and the stars of the heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree being shaken by a great wind casts its unripe figs. ¹⁴ And the heaven departed like a scroll being rolled up. And every mountain and island were moved out of their places. ¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the powerful ones, and every slave, and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains. ¹⁶ And "they said to the mountains" and to the rocks, "Fall on us," and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, Hos. 10:8 ¹⁷ because the great day of His wrath has come; and who is able to stand?

⁹ And the kings of the earth will weep for her, and will wail over her, those having fornicated and having luxuriated with her, when they see the smoke of her burning;

¹⁸ and cried out, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, What is like the great city?

⁹ Behold, the day of Jehovah comes, cruel and with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land waste. And He shall destroy its sinners out of it. ¹⁰ For the stars of the heavens and their constellations shall not give light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not reflect its light.

⁴ And all the host of the heavens shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together like a scroll. Then all their host shall droop, as a leaf drooping from the vine, and as the drooping from a fig tree. ⁵ For My sword is drenched in the heavens. Behold, it shall come down on Edom, and on the people of My curse, for judgment.

¹⁰ The earth shall quake before them, the heavens shall shake. The sun and moon shall grow dark, and the stars shall gather in their light.

¹ For, behold, in those days and in that time, when I bring again the exiles of Judah and Jerusalem,

¹⁵ The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall gather in their light.

¹⁴ The great day of Jehovah is near; it is near and rushing greatly, the sound of the day of Jehovah. The mighty man shall cry out bitterly there. ¹⁵ That day is a day of wrath, a day of adversity and distress, a day of waste and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness, ¹⁶ a day of the ram's horn and alarm against the fortified cities, and against the high towers.

⁵ Behold, I am sending you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of Jehovah.

⁴⁵ And from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

²⁵ And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars. And on the earth will be anxiety of nations with bewilderment, roaring of sea and of surf,

¹² And I saw when He opened the sixth seal. And behold, a great earthquake occurred. And the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair; and the moon became as blood; ¹³ and the stars of the heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree being shaken by a great wind casts its unripe figs.

¹⁵ And call on Me in the day of distress; and I will save you; and you shall glorify Me.

² In that day the Branch of Jehovah will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth for pride and for glory for the survivors of Israel.

²² For though Your people Israel is like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of it shall return; a determined end, overflowing with righteousness.

¹¹ And it shall be in that day, the Lord shall again set His hand, the second time, to recover the remnant of His people that remains, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Ethiopia, and from Persia, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the coasts of the sea.

¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, those left from Assyria, as it was to Israel in the day when he came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹³ I bring near My righteousness; it shall not be far off, and My salvation shall not wait; I will place salvation in Zion, My glory for Israel.

²⁰ And the Redeemer comes to Zion, and to those in Jacob who turn from transgression, declares Jehovah. ²¹ As for Me, this is My covenant with them, says Jehovah: My Spirit who is on you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your seed, or out of the mouth of your seed's seed, from now on and forever, says Jehovah.

⁷ For so says Jehovah, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations. Cry out, give praise and say, O Jehovah, save Your people, the remnant of Israel.

¹⁷ But the ones who escaped shall be on Mount Zion, and it shall be holy. And the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions.

²¹ And deliverers shall go up into the mountain of Zion to judge the mountain of Esau, and the kingdom shall be to Jehovah.

⁶ In that day I will gather the lame, declares Jehovah, and I will gather the banished, and the one I have afflicted. ⁷ And I will make the lame into a remnant, and her who was cast off into a strong nation. And Jehovah shall reign over them in Mount Zion from now on, and to forever.

³ So He will give them over until the time the one giving birth has given birth. Then the rest of His brothers shall return to the sons of Israel.

⁷ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers on a blade of grass, which does not wait for man, nor delay for the sons of men. ⁸ And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep (who both tramples and tears in pieces if he passes through) and there is no one to snatch back.

⁹ And I will bring the third part through the fire, and I will refine them as silver is refined. And I will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, It is My people, and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.

²² You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is of the Jews.

¹⁶ And I have other sheep which are not of this fold. I must also lead those, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock, one Shepherd.

¹⁷ so as the rest of men may seek the Lord, "even all the nations on whom My name has been called, says the Lord, who is doing all these things." Amos 9:11, 12

²⁸ But we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to purpose; ²⁹ because whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be the First-born among many brothers. ³⁰ But whom He predestinated, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; but whom He justified, these He also glorified.

²⁴ whom He also called, not only us, of Jews, but also out of nations.

²⁷ But Isaiah cries on behalf of Israel, "If the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved."

¹¹ For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame." Isa. 28:16 ¹² For there is no difference both of Jew and of Greek, for the same Lord of all is rich toward all the ones calling on Him. ¹³ For everyone, "whoever may call on the name of the Lord will be saved." Joel 3:5 ¹⁴ How then may they call on One in whom they have not believed? And how may they believe One of whom they have not heard? And how may they hear without preaching?

⁵ So then, also in the present time a remnant according to election of grace has come into being. Isa. 29:10, Deut. 29:4

⁷ What then? What Israel seeks, this it did not obtain, but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened;

²⁶ and so all Israel will be saved, even as it has been written, "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob.

² to the church of God which is in Corinth, those having been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called-out saints, with all those calling on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:

¹³ But we ought to thank God always concerning you, brothers, beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, ¹⁴ to which He called you through our gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² But you have drawn near Mount Zion, even the city of the living God, to a heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,
