⁷ All who have found them have devoured them. And their enemies said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against Jehovah, the habitation of righteousness, and Jehovah, their fathers' hope.

⁴ Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them. ⁵ They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

⁷ For they have eaten up Jacob, and laid waste to his dwelling-place.

¹ A Prayer of Moses, the Man of God. O Lord, You have been our dwelling-place in all generations.

¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the shade of the Almighty.

¹² Syrians in front, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with all the mouth. In all this His anger does not turn away, but His hand is still stretched out.

⁶ I was angry with My people; I defiled My inheritance and gave them into your hand. You gave them no mercy; you made your yoke on the aged very heavy.

⁹ All beasts of the field come to devour, all beasts in the forest!

³ Israel was holy to Jehovah, the firstfruits of His increase. All that devour him become guilty; evil shall come on them, declares Jehovah.

⁷ I have forsaken My house; I have left My inheritance. I have given the beloved of My soul into the hand of her enemies. ⁸ My inheritance has become as a lion in the forest to Me; she gave out her voice against Me; on account of this I hated her. ⁹ My inheritance is like a speckled bird to Me; the birds all around are against her. Come, gather all the beasts of the field, bring them to devour. ¹⁰ Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard; they have trampled My portion under foot; they have made My pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. ¹¹ One has made it desolate; it mourns to Me. The whole land is a desolation, but no man lays it to heart.

⁸ O Hope of Israel, its Savior in time of trouble, why should You be as a stranger in the land, and as a traveler who turns aside to lodge?

²³ So says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Again they will speak this word in the land of Judah, and in its cities, when I turn again their captivity, saying, Jehovah bless you, O home of righteousness, O holy mountain!

² And the chief of the executioners took Jeremiah and said to him, Jehovah your God has spoken this evil against this place. ³ And Jehovah has brought it and has done according as He has spoken, because you have sinned and have not obeyed His voice, even this thing has come upon you.

¹⁷ Israel is a scattered sheep, driven away by lions. First, the king of Assyria devoured him. And last, this king Nebu-chadnezzar of Babylon crunched him .

³³ So says Jehovah of hosts, The sons of Israel and the sons of Judah are oppressed together. Yea, all who captured them held them fast, they refused to let them go.

⁶ And we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our rulers, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

¹⁶ O Lord, I pray to You, according to all Your righteousness, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain. For because of our sins and of our fathers' iniquities, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us.

¹⁵ And with great anger I am angry at the nations at ease; in that I was but a little angry, and they gave help for evil.

⁵ Those who buy them kill them and are not held guilty. And those who sell them say, Blessed be Jehovah, for I am rich. And their shepherds do not pity them.
