⁵ So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, Like these good figs, so I will acknowledge the exiles of Judah whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for good.

¹⁶ who fed you with manna in the wilderness, which your fathers did not know; that He might humble you and that He might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;

¹² Blessed is the man You chasten, O Jehovah, You teach him out of Your law; ¹³ to give him rest from troubled days, until the pit is dug for the wicked. ¹⁴ For Jehovah will not leave His people; nor will He forsake His inheritance.

⁶⁷ Before I was afflicted I went astray; but now I have kept Your word.

⁷¹ For my good for me that I was afflicted, to learn Your statutes.

⁷ Jehovah is good for a stronghold in the day of distress; and He knows those who trust in Him.

⁹ And I will bring the third part through the fire, and I will refine them as silver is refined. And I will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, It is My people, and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.

¹² But answering, he said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.

²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

²⁸ But we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to purpose;

³ But if anyone loves God, he has been known by Him.

⁹ But now, knowing God, but rather being known by God, how do you turn again to the weak and poor elements to which you desire again to slave anew?

¹⁹ However, the foundation of God stands firm, having this seal, " The Lord knew those being His;" Num. 16:5, also, Let everyone naming the name of Christ depart from unrighteousness.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which He speaks with you, as with sons, "My sons, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint while being corrected by Him. ⁶ For whom the Lord loves, He disciplines, and whips every son whom He receives." Prov. 3:11, 12 ⁷ If you endure discipline, God is dealing with you as with sons; for who is the son whom a father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, of which all have become sharers, then you are bastards, and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, indeed we have had fathers of our flesh as correctors, and we respected them . Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and we shall live? ¹⁰ For they truly disciplined us for a few days according to the thing seeming good to them; but He for our profit, in order for us to partake of His holiness.

¹⁹ I, as many "as I love, I rebuke and I chasten." Be zealous, then, and repent. Prov. 3:12
