⁹ Then they will answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah their God, and worshiped other gods and served them.

²⁵ Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt. ²⁶ For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods which they did not know, and who had not given to them any portion. ²⁷ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book. ²⁸ And Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger and wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it this day.

¹⁷ because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore My wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

¹⁷ Have you not done this to yourself by your forsaking Jehovah your God when He led you by the way? ¹⁸ And now what is for you toward the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? Or what for you toward Assyria, to drink the waters of the River? ¹⁹ Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your apostasies shall reprove you. Know, then, and see that your forsaking Jehovah your God is evil and bitter; and My fear is not in you, declares the Lord Jehovah of hosts.

² And the chief of the executioners took Jeremiah and said to him, Jehovah your God has spoken this evil against this place. ³ And Jehovah has brought it and has done according as He has spoken, because you have sinned and have not obeyed His voice, even this thing has come upon you.

⁷ All who have found them have devoured them. And their enemies said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against Jehovah, the habitation of righteousness, and Jehovah, their fathers' hope.
