¹⁶ and any one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain is it ?

⁷ You have not given water to the faint to drink, and you withheld food from the hungry. ⁸ And the earth is to him, to the armed man; and the honored one lives in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and have crushed the arms of orphans.

²⁷ Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it . ²⁸ Do not say to your neighbor, Go and come back again, or, Tomorrow I will give, when you have it beside you.

¹⁵ And evening coming, His disciples came near to Him saying, The place is deserted, and the hour is already gone by. Dismiss the crowds, that going away into the villages they may buy provisions for themselves. ¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, They have no need to go away. You give them food to eat.

³² But having called near His disciples, Jesus said, I am filled with pity on the crowd, because they already have remained with Me three days and have nothing they may eat. And I do not desire to send them away fasting, that they may not faint in the way.

⁴² For I hungered, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I thirsted, and you gave me nothing to drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you did not take Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me. ⁴⁴ Then they also will answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to You? ⁴⁵ Then He will answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of these, the least, neither did you do it to Me.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation, shrinking from evil, cleaving to the good,

⁸ I do not speak according to command, but through the earnestness of others and testing the trueness of your love.

¹⁶ By this we have known the love of God, because that One laid down His life for us; and on behalf of the brothers we ought to lay down our lives. ¹⁷ Whoever has the means of life of the world, and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his bowels from him, how does the love of God abide in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word, or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
