¹³ You shall certainly give back to him the pledge at sundown; and he shall lie down in his own clothing, and shall bless you. And it shall be righteousness to you before Jehovah your God.

⁶ And he believed in Jehovah. And He counted it to him for righteousness.

²⁶ If you indeed take the clothing of your neighbor as a pledge, you shall return it to him by the going of the sun, ²⁷ for that is his only covering, that is his covering for his skin. In what shall he lie down? And it shall be, when he cries to Me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

²⁵ And it shall be righteousness for us when we take heed to do all this commandment before Jehovah our God, as He has commanded us.

⁹ Beware that there is no evil thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release draws near; and your eye be evil against your needy brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to Jehovah against you and it be sin to you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because Jehovah your God will bless you for this thing, in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to.

¹⁵ In the same day you shall give him his hire; do not let the sun go down on it. For he is poor, and has lifted up his heart on it; that he not cry against you to Jehovah, and it be sin against you.

⁷ They lodge naked ones without clothing, and give no cover against the cold. ⁸ They are wet with the showers of hills, and embrace the rock for lack of shelter.

¹¹ For the ear heard, and blessed me; and the eye saw, and witnessed for me. ¹² For I delivered the poor who cried for help and the orphan who had no helper to him. ¹³ The blessing of the perishing came on me; and I made the widow's heart to sing.

¹⁶ If I have withheld from the desire of the poor, or I have caused the widow's eyes to fail, ¹⁷ or have eaten my bit alone, and the orphan has not eaten it, ¹⁸ for from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, and from my mother's womb I guided her. ¹⁹ If I have seen any perish for lack of clothing, or there was no covering for the needy; ²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me, and he warmed himself with the fleece of my flock;

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood and intervened, and the plague was stayed; ³¹ and it was counted to him for righteousness to generation and generation, forever.

⁹ He has scattered; he has given to the needy; his righteousness is standing forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor.

⁸ Then your light shall break as the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Jehovah shall gather you.

⁷ and has not oppressed a man (he returns his pledge to the debtor and has not robbed by robbery), has given his bread to the hungry, and he has covered the naked with clothing.

¹² He has oppressed the poor and needy; thieving, he stole; he has not returned the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols,

¹⁶ and has not oppressed a man, has not withheld the pledge, and has not robbed by robbery; he has given his bread to the hungry, and he has covered the naked with clothing,

¹⁵ if the wicked returns the pledge, he repays the thing stolen, he walks in the statutes of life, not doing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

²⁷ So, O king, let my advice be pleasing to you: Even break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by pitying the poor, whether there will be duration to your prosperity.

⁸ And they will stretch out beside every altar, and on garments taken in pledge. And they will drink wine of those being fined in the house of God.

¹³ through the proof of this service, they glorifying God by your freely expressed submission to the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of the fellowship toward them and toward all; ¹⁴ and in their prayer for you, a longing after you, because of the overflowing grace of God on you.

¹⁶ May the Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me, and he was not ashamed of my chain, ¹⁷ but having come to Rome, he more diligently sought and found me . ¹⁸ May the Lord give to him to find mercy from the Lord in that Day. ²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Is faith able to save him? ¹⁵ But if a brother or a sister is naked and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and any one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain is it ? ¹⁷ So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead being by itself. ¹⁸ But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith out of my works. ¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well; even the demons believe and shudder. ²⁰ But are you willing to know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? ²¹ Was not our father Abraham justified by works offering up his son Isaac on the altar? Gen. 22:9 ²² You see that faith worked with his works; and out of the works the faith was made perfected. ²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled, saying, "And Abraham believed God, and it was counted for righteousness to him;" and he was called, Friend of God.
