⁹ Then king Belshazzar was greatly troubled, and his face was changing on him, and his nobles were perplexed.

¹¹ Terrors frighten him on every side and shall dash him at his feet. ¹² His strength shall be hunger-bitten, and calamity shall be ready at his side. ¹³ It devours parts of his skin; the first-born of death eats his parts. ¹⁴ His hope shall be rooted out of his tent, and you marched to the king of terrors.

¹⁴ Yea, He sent out His arrows and scattered them; and He shot out lightnings and confounded them.

⁶ Trembling and pain seized them there, like a woman in labor.

⁶ Howl! For the day of Jehovah is at hand. It shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. ⁷ On account of this all hands shall droop, and every heart of man shall melt; ⁸ and they shall be afraid. Pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain like a woman bearing; they shall be amazed, each man to his neighbor; faces of flames shall be their faces.

² A harsh vision is revealed to me; the deceiver deals deceitfully, and the plunderer plunders. Go up, O Elam! Besiege, O Media! I have caused all her sighing to cease. ³ Because of this my loins are filled with pain; pangs have taken hold on me like the pangs of a travailing woman. I am bowed from hearing; I am troubled from seeing. ⁴ My heart wanders; terror overwhelms me; He has turned the twilight of my pleasure into trembling.

²⁴ We have heard the rumor of it. Our hands have dropped down; anguish has seized us, pain like a travailing woman.

⁶ Ask now and see whether a man is giving birth? Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins, like a woman in travail, and all faces are turned to paleness?

¹ And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar was dreaming dreams, and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep was finished on him.

⁶ Then the king's color was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins shook, and his knees knocked one against the other .

⁸ Then I was left alone, and I saw his great vision, and there remained no strength in me. For my glory was turned within me into corruption, and I kept no strength.

³ But Herod the king having heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him.

¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the powerful ones, and every slave, and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
