⁹ And Absalom came before David's servants. And Absalom was riding on a mule, and the mule came in under the thick branches of a great oak. And his head caught hold in the oak, and he was lifted up between the heavens and the earth. And the mule under him passed on.

²³ his body shall not remain all night on the tree; but you shall surely bury him the same day. For he that is hanged is a reproach to God. And you shall not defile your land which Jehovah your God is giving to you as an inheritance.

³ Is it not disaster to the perverse, and calamity to the workers of iniquity?

⁹ And those who seek to destroy my life shall go into the depths of the earth. ¹⁰ They shall pour him out by the sword; they shall be a serving for jackals.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in deep darkness.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks its father, and despises to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the sons of the eagle shall eat it.

⁴⁴ He who flees from the dread shall fall into the pit. And he who goes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For I will bring it on Moab, the year of their punishment, declares Jehovah.

⁵ And tossing the silver pieces into the Holy Place, he left. And going away he hanged himself.
