²⁰ And now, behold, I know that you shall certainly reign, and the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.

¹⁴ But now your kingdom shall not stand. Jehovah has sought out for Himself a man according to His own heart, and Jehovah has appointed him as leader over His people. For you have not kept that which Jehovah commanded you.

³⁰ And the anger of Saul glowed against Jonathan. And he said to him, Son of a perverse rebelliousness! Do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your shame, and to the shame of the nakedness of your mother? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives on earth you shall not be established, you and your kingdom. And now send and bring him to me, for he is a son of death.

¹⁷ and said to him, Do not fear, for the hand of my father Saul shall not find you; and you shall reign over Israel; and I shall be second to you. And my father Saul knows it is so.

¹⁷ And the word of Abner was with the elders of Israel, saying, Before now you have been seeking David for king over you. ¹⁸ And now do it . For Jehovah has spoken of David, saying, By the hand of My servant David He will save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

³ But Herod the king having heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him. ⁴ And having gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked of them where the Christ was to be born. ⁵ And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it has been written by the prophet, ⁶ "And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, in no way are you least among the governors of Judah, for out of you shall come a Governor who shall shepherd My people Israel." Mic. 5:2

¹³ And they having departed, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph by a dream, saying, Rise up! Take the child and His mother with you, and flee into Egypt. And be there until I shall tell you. For Herod is about to look for the child in order to destroy Him.

¹⁶ Then seeing that he was mocked by the wise men, Herod was greatly enraged, and having sent, he killed all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he exactly asked from the wise men.
