²⁸ The sons of Abraham: Isaac and Ishmael.

¹¹ And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Behold! You are with child and shall bear a son; and you shall call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah has attended to your affliction. ¹² And he shall be a wild ass of a man, his hand against all, and the hand of everyone against him; and he shall live before all his brothers. ¹³ And she called the name of Jehovah, the One speaking to her, You, a God of vision! For she said, Even here I have looked after the One seeing me? ¹⁴ On account of this, the well was called, The Well of the Living One Seeing Me. Behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered. ¹⁵ And Hagar bore a son to Abram, and Abram called the name of his son whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. ¹⁶ And Abram was eighty six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.

¹⁹ And God said, Your wife Sarah truly shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. And I have established My covenant with him for a perpetual covenant with his seed after him. ²⁰ And as to Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. ²¹ And I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time next year.

² And Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the time appointed, that which God had spoken with him. ³ And Abraham called the name of the son who was born to him, whom Sarah had borne to him, Isaac. ⁴ And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac, a son of eight days, as God had commanded him. ⁵ And Abraham was a son of a hundred years when his son Isaac was born to him.

⁹ And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, he whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. ¹⁰ And she said to Abraham, Drive away this slave-girl and her son, for the son of this slave-girl shall not inherit with my son, with Isaac.

¹² And God said to Abraham, Let it not be evil in your eyes because of the boy, and on account of your slave-girl. All that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice, for in Isaac your Seed shall be called.
