⁷ And now you shall say this to My servant, to David, So says Jehovah of hosts, I have taken you from the pasture from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel;

¹ And Moses was feeding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock behind the wilderness and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb. ² And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him in a flame of fire from the middle of a thorn bush. And he looked, and behold, the thorn bush was burning with fire, and the thorn bush was not burned up! ³ And Moses said, I will turn aside now and see this great sight, why the thorn bush is not burned up. ⁴ And Jehovah saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the midst of the thorn bush, and said, Moses! Moses! And he said, Behold me. ⁵ And He said, Do not come near here pull off your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. ⁶ And He said, I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he feared to look upon God. ⁷ And Jehovah said, I have certainly seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry from before their slave-drivers; for I know his sorrows. ⁸ And I have come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and broad land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite. ⁹ And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me, and I also have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them. ¹⁰ And now, come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, and you bring My people out, the sons of Israel out of Egypt.

¹¹ And Samuel said to Jesse, Are these all the young men? And he said, There yet remains the youngest; and behold, he is tending the flock. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and bring him, for we will not sit until he comes here. ¹² And he sent and brought him in. And he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and good form. And Jehovah said, Rise up, anoint him, for this is he.

¹⁵ And David went and returned from Saul, to feed his father's flock at Bethlehem.

²¹ And David said to Michal, Before Jehovah, who chose me over your father and over all your father's house, to command me to be leader over the people of Jehovah, and over Israel, so I danced before Jehovah.

⁸ And now, so you shall say to My servant, to David, So says Jehovah of hosts, I have taken you from the resting place, from following the flock, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

⁷⁰ He also chose His servant David, and took him from the sheepfolds; ⁷¹ He brought him in from the suckling ewes; He brought him to feed His people Jacob, and His inheritance, Israel.

¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah: I was not a prophet, nor was I a prophet's son, but I was a herdsman and a gatherer from sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Jehovah took me from behind the flock, and Jehovah said to me, Go, prophesy to My people Israel.

⁶ "And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, in no way are you least among the governors of Judah, for out of you shall come a Governor who shall shepherd My people Israel." Mic. 5:2

¹⁸ And walking beside the sea of Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers. ¹⁹ And He says to them, Come after Me, and I will make you fishers of men. ²⁰ And leaving the nets, they immediately followed Him. ²¹ And going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and his brother John in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. And He called them. ²² And at once leaving the boat and their father, they followed Him.

¹⁰ and in the same way also, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Do not fear. From now on you will be taking men alive.
