Eat, O friends! _⌊Drink and become drunk with love_⌋!* ² I was asleep but* my heart was awake. A sound! My beloved knocking!* "Open to me, my sister, my beloved, my dove, my perfect one! For my head is full of dew, _⌊my hair drenched from the moist night air_⌋."* ³ I have taken off my tunic, _⌊must I put it on_⌋?* I have bathed my feet, _⌊must I soil them_⌋?* ⁴ My beloved thrust his hand into the opening, and my inmost yearned for him. ⁵ I myself arose to open to my beloved; my hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with liquid myrrh upon the handles of the bolt. ⁶ I opened myself to my beloved, but my beloved had turned and gone;* my heart sank* when he turned away.* I sought him, but I did not find him; I called him, but he did not answer me. ⁷ The sentinels making rounds in the city found me; they beat me, they wounded me; they took my cloak* away from me— _⌊those sentinels on the walls_⌋!* ⁸ I adjure you, _⌊O maidens of Jerusalem_⌋,* if you find my beloved, what will you tell him? This is my beloved; this is my friend, _⌊O young women of Jerusalem_⌋.*

¹³ "You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths for yourselves* seven days _⌊at the gathering in of the produce_⌋* from your threshing floor and from your press; ¹⁴ and you shall rejoice at your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your slave and your slave woman and the Levite and the orphan and the widow that are in your _⌊towns_⌋.* ¹⁵ Seven days you shall celebrate your feast to Yahweh your God at the place Yahweh will choose, for Yahweh your God shall bless you in all of your produce* and in all of the work of your hand, and you shall surely be rejoicing.* ¹⁶ Three times in the year all of your males shall appear _⌊before _⌋* Yahweh your God at the place that he will choose, at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and at the Feast of Weeks and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear _⌊before Yahweh_⌋* empty-handed. ¹⁷ Each person _⌊shall give as he is able_⌋,* that is, according to the blessing of Yahweh your God that he has given to you.

¹⁰ And now, look, I am bringing* the firstfruit of the fruit of the ground that you gave to me, Yahweh,' and you shall place it _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God, and you shall bow down _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God. ¹¹ And you shall celebrate with all of the bounty that Yahweh your God gave to you and to your family, you and the Levite and the alien who is in your midst. ¹² "When you are finished _⌊giving a tithe_⌋,* all of the tithe of your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, then you shall give to the Levite, to the alien, to the orphan, and to the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and they may be satisfied. ¹³ And you shall say _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God, 'I have removed the sacred portion from the* house and, moreover, I have given it to the Levite and to the alien and to the orphan and to the widow according to all your commandment that you commanded me; I have not transgressed any of your commandments, and I have not forgotten any of them. ¹⁴ I have not eaten during my time of mourning, and I have not removed anything from it while being unclean, and I have not offered _⌊any of it_⌋* to someone who has died. I have listened to the voice of Yahweh my God; I have done all that you commanded me to do.

⁶ Then the people of Israel and Judah who were living in the cities of Judah, they also brought a tithe of cattle and sheep and a tithe of consecrated objects to Yahweh their God. And they gave heaps upon heaps. ⁷ In the third month the heaps began to pile up, and in the seventh month they ceased. ⁸ When Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed Yahweh and his people Israel. ⁹ And Hezekiah questioned* the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. ¹⁰ And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, saying, "Since the offerings began to be brought to the house of Yahweh, we have eaten and been satisfied, and have much to spare, for Yahweh has blessed his people. Now see this abundant remainder!"

³ With regard to the saints who are in the land, they are the noble ones in whom is all my desire.

¹¹ Yahweh takes pleasure in those who fear him, the ones who hope* for his loyal love.

⁵ "Come, eat with my bread; drink with the wine I have mixed.

⁹ You have stolen (my) heart, my sister bride! You have stolen my heart with one glance from your eyes, with one ornament from your necklaces. ¹⁰ How beautiful is your love, my sister bride! How better is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than any spice! ¹¹ Your lips drip nectar, my bride; honey and milk are under your lips; the scent of your garments is like the scent of Lebanon. ¹² A garden locked is my sister bride, a spring enclosed,* a fountain sealed. ¹³ Your shoots* are an orchard of pomegranates with _⌊choice fruit_⌋,* henna with nard; ¹⁴ nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon spice with all trees of frankincense, myrrh and aloes with all chief spices.

¹⁶ Awake, O north wind! Come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden! Let its fragrances* waft forth!* Let my beloved come to his garden, let him eat his choice fruit!

² My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the garden bed of the spice, to pasture his flock and to gather lilies in the garden.

¹¹ I went down to the orchard of the walnut trees to look at the blossoms of the valley, to see whether the vines have sprouted, whether the pomegranates have blossomed.

¹ _⌊How I wish that you were my little brother_⌋,** who nursed _⌊upon my mother's breasts_⌋!* If _⌊I met you outside_⌋,* I would kiss you, _⌊and no one would despise me_⌋!*

¹³ O you who dwell in the garden, my companions are listening to your voice. Let me hear it!

¹ Let me sing for my beloved a song of my love concerning his vineyard: _⌊My beloved had a vineyard_⌋* on _⌊a fertile hill_⌋.*

¹⁸ And this shall happen:
her merchandise and her harlot's wages will be set apart for Yahweh;
it will not be stored up, and it will not be hoarded, but her merchandise will be for those who live before the _⌊presence_⌋* of Yahweh, for eating to satiation and for fine clothing.

³ For Yahweh will comfort Zion; he will comfort all its sites of ruins. And he will _⌊make_⌋* its wilderness like Eden, and its desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the _⌊sound_⌋* of song.

¹¹ From the trouble of his life* he will see;* he will be satisfied. In his knowledge, the righteous one, my servant, shall declare many righteous,* and he is the one who will bear their iniquities.

¹ "Ho! Everyone thirsty, come to the waters! And whoever has no money, come, buy and eat, and come, buy without money, wine and milk without price! ² Why do you weigh out money for what is not food, and your labor for _⌊what cannot satisfy_⌋?* Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and let your soul take pleasure in _⌊rich_⌋* food.

¹¹ And Yahweh will lead you continually, and satisfy your soul in a barren land, and he will strengthen your bones, and you shall be like a well-watered garden, and like a spring of water whose water does not fail.

¹¹ For as the earth _⌊produces_⌋* its sprout, and as a garden makes its plants sprout, so the Lord Yahweh will make righteousness sprout, and praise before all the nations.

⁸ Yahweh has sworn by his right hand, and by _⌊his mighty arm_⌋,* "Surely I will never again give your grain as food to _⌊your enemies_⌋,* and surely _⌊foreigners_⌋* shall not drink your new wine at which you have labored." ⁹ But those who gather it shall eat it, and they shall praise Yahweh, and those who gather it shall drink it in _⌊my holy courts_⌋.*

¹³ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! My servants shall eat but* you, you shall be hungry. Look! My servants shall drink but* you, you shall be thirsty. Look! My servants shall rejoice but* you, you shall be ashamed.

¹⁴ And you shall see and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall _⌊flourish_⌋* like the grass, and the hand of Yahweh shall make itself known _⌊to_⌋* his servants, and he shall curse his enemies.

¹⁵ Yahweh of hosts will defend them, and they will devour and subdue the slingstones;* they will drink, they will make noise* like wine, and they will be full like the sacrificial basin,* drenched like the corners of an altar. ¹⁶ And Yahweh their God will save them on that day, as the flock of his people; for they are like the stones of a diadem, glittering on his land. ¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

⁴⁰ And the king will answer and* say to them, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did it* to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it* to me.'

⁴ "And I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after these things do not have anything more to do.

⁶ And when he* returns to his* home, he calls together his* friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!' ⁷ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.

⁹ And when she* has found it,* she calls together her* friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found the drachma that I had lost!' ¹⁰ In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

²⁹ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices _⌊greatly_⌋* because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine is complete.

²¹ The one who has my commandments and keeps them—that one is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him." ²² Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, why* is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?" ²³ Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and _⌊will take up residence with him_⌋.*

¹⁴ You are my friends if you do what I command you. ¹⁵ No longer do I call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything that I have heard from my Father I have revealed to you.

²⁹ So from the disciples, _⌊according to their ability to give_⌋,* each one of them determined to send financial aid* for support to the brothers who lived in Judea,

¹¹ being made rich in every way for all generosity, which is producing through us thanksgiving to God, ¹² because the service of this ministry is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but also is overflowing through many expressions of thanksgiving to God. ¹³ Through the proven character of this service they will glorify God because of the submission of your confession to the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your participation toward them and toward everyone, ¹⁴ and they are longing for you in their prayers for you, because of the surpassing grace of God to you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit,

⁸ because now we live, if you stand firm in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanks can we repay to God concerning you, because of all the joy with which we rejoice because of you before our God,

¹² saying,
"I will proclaim your name to my brothers; in the midst of the assembly I will sing in praise of you."* ¹³ And again,
"I will trust in him."*
And again,
"Behold, I and the children God has given me."* ¹⁴ Therefore, since the children share in blood and flesh, he also in like manner shared in these same things, in order that through death he could destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And the one who hears, let him say, "Come!" And the one who is thirsty, let him come. The one who wants, let him take the water of life freely.*

²⁰ And Jacob worked for Rachel seven years, but they were as a few days in his eyes because he loved her.

⁴⁰ There I was, during the day the heat consumed me, and the cold by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes. ⁴¹ These twenty years I have been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.

²⁶ My child, may you give your heart* to me, and may your eyes delight in my ways.

⁸ The voice of my beloved! Look! Here _⌊he_⌋* comes leaping upon the mountains, bounding over the hills!

¹⁰ My beloved answered and said to me, "_⌊Arise_⌋,* my beloved! _⌊Come, my beauty_⌋!*

¹⁴ My dove, in the clefts of the rock, _⌊in the secluded place_⌋** _⌊in the mountain_⌋,** Let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely.

¹ On my bed in the night, I sought* him whom my _⌊heart_⌋* loves. I sought him, but I did not find him.

⁷ You are completely beautiful, my beloved! _⌊You are flawless_⌋!*

⁹ Your palate is like the best wine that goes down for my beloved, smoothly gliding over my lips and teeth.*

⁷ Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away.* If a man were to give all the wealth of his house _⌊for love_⌋,* he would be utterly scorned.*

⁶ I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my _⌊beard_⌋;* I did not hide my face from insults and spittle.

¹⁴ Just as many were appalled at you— such was his appearance beyond human disfigurement, and his form beyond the sons of mankind—

³ He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with* sickness, and like _⌊one from whom others hide their faces_⌋,* he was despised, and we did not hold him in high regard. ⁴ However, he was the one who lifted up our sicknesses, and he carried our pain, yet* we ourselves assumed him stricken, struck down by God and afflicted. ⁵ But* he was pierced* because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for* our peace* was upon him, and by his wounds* _⌊we were healed_⌋.*

¹⁸ And _⌊when he spoke_⌋* with me I fell into a trance with my face to the ground, and he touched me and made me stand on by feet.

¹ And the angel who was talking with me returned, and he wakened me as one who is wakened from his sleep.

¹⁷ in order that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said,
"He himself took away our sicknesses, and carried away our diseases."*

⁴ But the wise ones took olive oil in flasks with their lamps. ⁵ And when* the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.*

³⁵ For I was hungry and you gave me something* to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something* to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me as a guest, ³⁶ I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you came to me.' ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,* or thirsty and give you something* to drink? ³⁸ And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you* as a guest, or naked and clothe you?* ³⁹ And when did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?' ⁴⁰ And the king will answer and* say to them, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did it* to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it* to me.' ⁴¹ Then he will also say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed ones, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels! ⁴² For I was hungry and you did not give me anything* to eat, I was thirsty and you did not give me anything* to drink, ⁴³ I was a stranger and you did not welcome me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not care for me.' ⁴⁴ Then they will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and not serve you?' ⁴⁵ Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did not do it* to one of the least of these, you did not do it* to me.'

⁴⁰ And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "So, were you not able to stay awake with me one hour? ⁴¹ Stay awake and pray that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!"

³⁵ And getting up early in the morning while it was very dark, he departed and went to a deserted place, and there he was praying.

¹² Now it happened that in these days he went away to the mountain to pray, and was spending the whole night in prayer to God.

³² Now Peter and those with him were _⌊very sleepy_⌋,* but when they* became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were standing with him.

⁴⁴ And being in anguish, he began praying* more fervently and his sweat became like drops of blood falling down to the ground.*

⁴ Whenever he sends out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ controls us, because we* have concluded this: that one died for all; as a result all died. ¹⁵ And he died for all, in order that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the one who died for them and was raised.

²⁰ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

¹⁴ for everything made visible is light. Therefore it says,
Wake up, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.*

⁴ But you have a few _⌊people_⌋* in Sardis who have not defiled their clothing, and they will walk with me in white, because they are worthy.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, indeed I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.

⁴ These are those who have not been defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were bought from humanity as first fruits to God and to the Lamb,

²⁸ Do not say to your neighbor, "Go and return and tomorrow I will give it," _⌊when it is with you_⌋.*

⁴ The soul* of the lazy craves, but there is nothing, but the person of diligence is richly supplied.

¹³ A lazy person says "A lion in the street! In the middle of the highway, I shall be killed!"

⁵ And when* the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.*

³⁸ Then he said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me." ³⁹ And going forward a little he fell down on his face, praying and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."* ⁴⁰ And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "So, were you not able to stay awake with me one hour? ⁴¹ Stay awake and pray that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!" ⁴² Again for the second time he went away and* prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will must be done." ⁴³ And he came again and* found them sleeping, _⌊for they could not keep their eyes open_⌋.*

⁷ And that one will answer from inside and* say, 'Do not cause me trouble! The door has already been shut and my children are with me in bed! I am not able to get up to give you anything.'*

²² For I joyfully agree with the law of God in my inner person, ²³ but I observe another law in my members, at war with the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that exists in my members.

³⁰ Then Joseph _⌊hurried away_⌋,* _⌊being overcome with emotion_⌋* toward his brother, and sought for a place to cry. Then he went into a room and wept there.

²⁶ Then the woman whose son was the living one spoke to the king because her compassion was aroused for her son, and she said, "Please, my lord, give her the living child, but certainly do not kill him!" The other one was saying, "As for me, so for you! Divide him!"

³ Your people _⌊will volunteer_⌋* in the day of your power.* In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, you will have the dew of your youth.*

⁴ Draw me after you, let us run! May the king bring me into his chambers!* Let us be joyful and let us rejoice in you; let us extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you!

⁸ Surely we wait for you in the path of your judgments, Yahweh, for your name and renown are the desire of the soul. ⁹ I desire you with all my soul in the night; also I seek you with my spirit within me, for when your judgments are _⌊upon_⌋* the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

¹⁴ And a certain woman _⌊named_⌋* Lydia from the city of Thyatira, a merchant dealing in purple cloth who showed reverence for God, was listening. The Lord opened _⌊her_⌋* heart to pay attention to what was being said by Paul.

¹ Now we make known to you, brothers, the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, ² that with a great ordeal of affliction, the abundance of their joy and the extreme depth of their poverty have overflowed to the wealth of their generosity.

¹⁶ But thanks be to God, who has put in the heart of Titus the same devotion _⌊on your behalf_⌋*,

¹³ For the one at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure, is God.

¹⁶ We have come to know love by this: that _⌊he_⌋* laid down his life on behalf of us, and we ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brothers. ¹⁷ But whoever has the world's material possessions and observes his brother _⌊in need_⌋* and shuts his heart against him, how does the love of God reside in him?

³⁶ And you, be like people who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast,* so that when he* comes back and knocks, they can open the door* for him immediately.

⁷ and not only by his coming, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted among you, because he* reported to us your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.

⁹ now I rejoice, not that you were grieved, but that you were grieved to repentance. For you were grieved according to the will of God, so that you suffered loss in no way through us. ¹⁰ For grief according to the will of God brings about a repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted, but worldly grief brings about death. ¹¹ For behold how much diligence this very thing, being grieved according to the will of God, has brought about in you: what defense of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! In everything you have demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (you having been firmly rooted and established in love),

²⁸ And he said to his brothers, "My money was returned and moreover, behold, it is in my sack!" Then _⌊their hearts failed them_⌋* and each of them trembled and said, "What is this God has done to us?"

To you, O Yahweh, I call. O my rock, do not be deaf to me. Or else, if you are silent to me, then I will become like those descending to the pit.

⁷ O Yahweh, by your favor you caused my strong mountain to stand. You hid your face. I was bewildered.

³ I am weary with my calling out; my throat is parched. My eyes are exhausted in my waiting for my God.

³ I remember God and I groan loudly; I meditate and my spirit grows faint.

⁴ O Yahweh God of hosts, _⌊how long will you be angry_⌋* against the prayer of your people?

⁹ My eye languishes from misery. I call on you, O Yahweh, every day; I spread out my hands* to you. ¹⁰ Do you work wonders* for the dead? Or do the departed spirits* rise up to praise you? ⁶ For Yahweh has called you like a wife forsaken and hurt of spirit, like* the wife of childhood when she is rejected, says your God. ⁷ I abandoned you _⌊for a short_⌋* moment, but* I will gather you with great compassion. ⁸ I hid my face from you for a moment, in the flowing of anger, but* I will have compassion on you with everlasting faithfulness" says your redeemer, Yahweh.

¹⁶ For I will not attack forever, and I will not be angry forever, for the spirit will grow faint before me, and the breaths that I myself I have made.

² Yet* they seek me day by day, and they desire the knowledge of my ways like a nation that _⌊practiced_⌋* righteousness, and had not forsaken the judgment of its God; they ask me for _⌊righteous judgments_⌋,* they desire the closeness of God.

⁸ Though I cry out for help, he shuts out my prayers.

⁶ With their flocks* and herds* they will go to seek Yahweh, but they will not find him; he has withdrawn from them.

Because of the greatness of your sin, your hostility is great. ⁸ The prophet keeps watch over Ephraim for my God; the snare of a fowler is on all his ways, and hostility in the house of his God.

³³ "Listen to another parable: There was a man—a master of a house—who planted a vineyard, and put a fence around it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower, and leased it to tenant farmers, and went on a journey. ³⁴ And when the season of fruit drew near, he sent his slaves to the tenant farmers to collect his fruit. ³⁵ And the tenant farmers seized his slaves, one of whom they beat, and one of whom they killed, and one of whom they stoned. ³⁶ Again, he sent other slaves, more than the first ones, and they did the same thing to them. ³⁷ So finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' ³⁸ But when* the tenant farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance!' ³⁹ And they seized him and* threw him* out of the vineyard and killed him.* ⁴⁰ Now when the master of the vineyard arrives, what will he do to those tenant farmers?" ⁴¹ They said to him, "He will destroy those evil men completely and lease the vineyard to other tenant farmers who will give him the fruits in their season."

²² Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.

⁸ _⌊More than that_⌋*, I even consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for the sake of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and consider them* dung, in order that I may gain Christ

²³ And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness,"* and he was called God's friend.

⁴ Adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
