⁴ We will not hide them from their children,* telling the next generation the praises of Yahweh, and his power and his wonders that he has done.

²⁶ _⌊And_⌋* when your children say to you, 'What is this _⌊religious custom_⌋* for you?'*

⁸ And you shall tell your son on that day, saying, 'This is because of what Yahweh did for me when I came out from Egypt.'

¹⁴ And when your son asks you _⌊in the future_⌋,* saying, 'What is this?' you will say to him, 'With strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from a house of slaves.

⁹ "However, _⌊take care_⌋* for yourself and watch your inner self* closely, so that you do not forget the things that your eyes have seen, so that they do not slip from your mind all the days of your life; and you shall make them known to your children and to _⌊your grandchildren_⌋.*

⁷ And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at the time of your living in your house and at the time of your going on the road and at the time of your lying down and at the time of your rising up.

¹⁹ And you shall teach them to your children* by talking about them when you sit in your house and when you travel on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.

⁶ so that this may be a reminder* among you. When your children ask in the future, saying, '_⌊What do these stones mean to you_⌋?'* ⁷ you will say to them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off _⌊from before_⌋* the ark of the covenant of Yahweh. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones will be as a memorial for the _⌊Israelites_⌋* for eternity."

²¹ And he said to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* "When your children ask in the future _⌊their parents_⌋,* '_⌊What is the meaning of these stones_⌋?'* ²² you will let your children know by saying, 'Israel crossed this Jordan on dry ground.' ²³ For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you, until you had crossed, just as Yahweh your God did to the _⌊Red Sea_⌋,* which he dried up before us until we had crossed over, ²⁴ so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of Yahweh is strong, so that you may fear Yahweh your God _⌊forever_⌋."*

¹⁸ what wise men have told, and they have not hidden that which is from their ancestors,

¹⁴ so that I may tell of all your praises. In the gates of the daughter of Zion let me rejoice in your salvation.

¹ Why, O Yahweh, do you stand far off? Why do you hide* during times of distress? ² In arrogance the wicked persecutes* the poor. Let them be caught in the schemes that they devised, ³ for the wicked boasts about the desire of his _⌊heart_⌋,* and the one greedy for gain curses and treats Yahweh with contempt. ⁴ _⌊With bald-faced pride_⌋* the wicked will not seek God. There is no God in any of his thoughts. ⁵ His ways* endure at all times.* Your judgments are aloof from him. As for all his enemies, he scoffs at them.

⁷ to declare with a voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous deeds.

¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth, and up to now I have proclaimed your wonderful deeds. ¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I proclaim your _⌊strength_⌋* to this generation, your power to every one that comes after.

⁴ One generation will laud your works to another, and will declare your mighty deeds. ⁵ On the splendor of the glory of your majesty, and on your wonderful deeds, I will meditate. ⁶ And they will speak of the power of your awesome deeds,* and I will tell of your greatness.*

⁷ I will mention the loyal love of Yahweh, the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has done for us, and the greatness of goodness to the house of Israel that he has done to them according to his mercy and the abundance of his loyal love. ⁸ And he said, "Surely my people are children; they will not break faith." And he became a Savior to them. ⁹ In all their distress, _⌊there was no distress_⌋,* and the messenger of his _⌊presence_⌋* saved them, in his love and compassion he himself redeemed them, and he lifted them up, and he supported them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But* they _⌊were the ones who_⌋* rebelled, and they grieved _⌊his Holy Spirit_⌋,* so* he _⌊became an enemy to them_⌋;* he himself fought against them. ¹¹ Then* his people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is the one who led up them from the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who puts _⌊his Holy Spirit_⌋* inside him, ¹² _⌊who made_⌋* his magnificent arm move _⌊at_⌋* the right hand of Moses, _⌊who divided_⌋* the waters _⌊before them_⌋,* to make an everlasting name for himself, ¹³ _⌊who led_⌋* them through the depths? They did not stumble like a horse in the desert; ¹⁴ like cattle in the valley that goes down, the Spirit of Yahweh _⌊gave him rest_⌋,* so you lead your people to make a magnificent name for yourself. ¹⁵ Look from heaven, and see from the lofty residence of your holiness and glory. Where are your zeal and strength? _⌊Your compassion_⌋* and mercy to me hold themselves back. ¹⁶ For you are our father, although Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, Yahweh are our father, Our Redeemer from of old is your name. ¹⁷ Why do you make us wander, Yahweh? You harden our heart from your ways _⌊so that we do not fear_⌋* you. Turn back for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance. ¹⁸ _⌊Your holy people_⌋* took possession for a little while; our adversaries have trampled down your sanctuary. ¹⁹ We have been since antiquity; you did not rule them; _⌊they were not called by your name_⌋.*
