Be gracious to me, O God, according to your loyal love. According to your abundant mercies, blot out my transgressions. ² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and from my sin cleanse me. ³ For _⌊I myself know_⌋* my transgressions,* and my sin is ever before me. ⁴ Against you, only you, I have sinned and have done this evil* in your eyes, so that you are correct when you speak, you are blameless when you judge. ⁵ Behold, in iniquity I was born, and in sin my mother conceived me. ⁶ Behold, you delight in truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden parts you make me to know wisdom. ⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. ⁸ Make me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. ⁹ Hide your face from my sins, and all my iniquities blot out. ¹⁰ Create a clean heart for me, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit _⌊within me_⌋.* ¹¹ Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. ¹² Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and with a willing spirit sustain me. ¹³ Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. ¹⁴ Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation; then my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. ¹⁵ O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. ¹⁶ For you do not delight in sacrifice or I would give it. With a burnt offering you are not pleased. ¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. ¹⁸ Do good in your favor toward Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem. ¹⁹ Then you will delight in righteous sacrifices, burnt offering and whole burnt offering. Then bulls will be offered on your altar.

⁶ And Yahweh passed over before him, and he proclaimed, "Yahweh, Yahweh, God, who is compassionate and gracious, _⌊slow to anger_⌋,* and abounding with* loyal love and faithfulness, ⁷ keeping loyal love to the thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and he does not leave utterly unpunished, punishing the guilt of fathers on sons and on sons of sons on third and fourth generations."

¹⁸ 'Yahweh is _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and great of loyal love, _⌊forgiving_⌋* sin and rebellion; but surely he leaves nothing unpunished, visiting the sin of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generations.' ¹⁹ Please forgive the sin of this people according to the greatness of your loyal love, just as you _⌊forgave_⌋* this people, from Egypt until now."

² It happened _⌊late one afternoon_⌋* that David got up from his bed and walked about on the roof of the king's house, and he saw a woman bathing on her* roof. Now the woman _⌊was very beautiful_⌋.* ³ David sent and inquired about the woman, and someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" ⁴ Then David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) And she returned to her house. ⁵ The woman became pregnant, and she sent and told David, and she said, "I am pregnant." ⁶ So David sent to Joab, "Send Uriah the Hittite to me." So Joab sent Uriah to David. ⁷ Uriah came to him, and David asked _⌊how Joab and the army fared and how the war was going_⌋.* ⁸ David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house, and wash your feet." So Uriah went out from the king's house, and a gift from the king went out after him. ⁹ But Uriah slept at the entrance of the king's house with all the servants of his master and did not go down to his house. ¹⁰ They told David, "Uriah did not go down to his house." David said to Uriah, "Are you not coming from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?" ¹¹ Uriah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah are living in the booths; and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping on the surface of the open field; and I, shall I go to my house to eat and to drink and to sleep with my wife? By your life and the life of your soul, I surely will not do this thing." ¹² David said to Uriah, "Remain here _⌊today_⌋,* and tomorrow I will send you away." So Uriah remained in Jerusalem on that day and the next. ¹³ David invited him, and he ate and drank in his presence _⌊so that he became drunk_⌋,* and he went out in the evening to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house.

² The rich man had very many flocks and herds, ³ but the poor man had nothing except for one small ewe lamb which he had bought. He had nurtured her, and she grew up with him and with his children together. She used to eat from his morsel and drink from his cup, and she used to lie in his lap and became like a daughter for him. ⁴ And a visitor came to the rich man, but he _⌊was reluctant_⌋* to take from his flocks or from his herds to prepare a meal for the traveler when he came to him. So he took the ewe lamb of the poor man and prepared it for the man who had come to him." ⁵ Then _⌊the anger of David was kindled_⌋* against the man, and he said to Nathan, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋,* the man who has done this _⌊deserves to die_⌋!* ⁶ He shall restore the ewe lamb fourfold because he has done this thing, and because he had no pity." ⁷ Then Nathan said to him, "You are the man! Thus says Yahweh the God of Israel: 'I anointed you as king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. ⁸ I gave you the household of your master and the women of your master into your lap. I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah; if that had been too little, I would have added to you _⌊much more_⌋.* ⁹ Why have you despised the word of Yahweh by doing evil in his eyes?* Uriah the Hittite you have struck down with the sword, and his wife you have taken to yourself as wife! You have killed him with the sword of the _⌊Ammonites_⌋!* ¹⁰ So then, a sword will not turn away from your house forever, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife!' ¹¹ Thus says Yahweh, 'Look, I am going to raise up evil against you from within your house, and I will take your women before your eyes, and I will give them to your neighbor, and he shall sleep with your wives _⌊in broad daylight_⌋.* ¹² Though you did this in secret, I will do this thing before all of Israel _⌊in broad daylight_⌋!'"* ¹³ Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against Yahweh!"* Nathan said to David, "Yahweh has also forgiven your sin; you shall not die.

⁵ Do not cover their guilt, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before you. They have _⌊provoked the builders to anger_⌋.*

¹ For the music director; with stringed instruments. A psalm of David.*
When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness.* In trouble _⌊deliver me_⌋.* Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

⁷ _⌊But as for me_⌋,* through the abundance of your steadfast love* I will enter your house.* I will bow down* toward _⌊your holy temple_⌋* in awe of you.

⁶ Remember your compassion, O Yahweh, and your acts of loyal love, because they are from of old. ⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions. According to your loyal love remember me if you will, for the sake of your goodness, O Yahweh.

¹¹ As for you, O Yahweh, do not withhold your mercies from me. Let your loyal love and your faithfulness continually preserve me.

⁹ Hide your face from my sins, and all my iniquities blot out.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Yahweh, for a favorable time, O God, according to the abundance of your loyal love. Answer me with the faithfulness of your salvation.

¹⁶ Answer me, O Yahweh, because your loyal love is good; according to your abundant mercies, turn to me,

⁹ Has God forgotten to have compassion? Or has he closed off his mercies in anger? Selah

⁷ Our ancestors* in Egypt did not understand your wonderful works. They did not remember your many acts of loyal love, and so they rebelled by the sea at _⌊the Red Sea_⌋.*

⁴⁵ And he remembered his covenant with them, and relented based on the abundance of his loyal love.

²¹ But you, O Yahweh my Lord, deal with me for your name's sake. Because your loyal love is good, deliver me,

¹²⁴ Deal with your servant according to your loyal love, and teach me your statutes.

⁹ Yahweh is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works.

²⁵ I, I am the one who blots out your transgressions for my sake, and I will not remember your sins.

²² I have wiped your transgressions out like a cloud and your sins like mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you!"

⁷ I will mention the loyal love of Yahweh, the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has done for us, and the greatness of goodness to the house of Israel that he has done to them according to his mercy and the abundance of his loyal love.

¹⁵ Look from heaven, and see from the lofty residence of your holiness and glory. Where are your zeal and strength? _⌊Your compassion_⌋* and mercy to me hold themselves back.

²³ But you, O Yahweh, you know _⌊all their plans of assassination against me_⌋.* You must not make atonement for their iniquity, and you must not cause their sin to be blotted out from _⌊before you_⌋.* But let them be overthrown _⌊before you_⌋.* Deal with them in the time of your anger.

³² For even though he causes grief he has compassion according to the greatness of his royal love.

⁹ _⌊Compassion and forgiveness belong to the Lord, our God_⌋,* for we have rebelled against him,

¹⁸ Incline your ear, my God, and listen; open your eyes and look at our desolation and the city that is called by your name, for we are not presenting our pleas for mercy _⌊before you_⌋* because of our righteousness, but rather because of your great compassion.

¹⁸ Who is a God like you, forgiving sin and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, for he delights in loyal love. ¹⁹ _⌊He will again have compassion_⌋* on us; he will trample our iniquities. And you will hurl all their sins in the depths of the sea.

¹⁹ Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted out,

²⁰ Now the law came in as a side issue, in order that the trespass could increase, but where sin increased, grace was present in greater abundance, ²¹ so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace that he bestowed on us in the beloved, ⁷ in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace, ⁸ that he caused to abound to us in all wisdom and insight,

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ and we being dead in trespasses, he made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved), ⁶ and raised us together and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ in order that he might show in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ having destroyed the certificate of indebtedness in ordinances against us, which was hostile to us, and removed it out of the way by* nailing it to the cross.

¹² Who can perceive his errors? Acquit me from hidden faults.

⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

¹⁶ Wash! Make yourselves clean! Remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes! Cease to do evil!

¹⁴ Cleanse your heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. _⌊How long_⌋* will your thoughts of mischief dwell in your inner part?

²⁵ And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols.

¹ " 'On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, _⌊to cleanse them from sin and from impurity_⌋.*

¹⁶ And now why are you delaying? Get up, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name!'

¹¹ And some of you were these things, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus* and by the Spirit of our God.

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled sanctify them for the ritual purity of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve the living God?

²¹ and since we have* a great priest over the house of God, ²² let us approach with a true heart in the full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁷ But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ If we say that we do not have sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our* sins and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood

¹⁴ And I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me,
"These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

⁴⁰ " 'But* when they confess their guilt and the guilt of their ancestors* in their infidelity that they displayed against me, and moreover that they went against me in hostility— ⁴¹ I myself* also* went against them in hostility, and I brought them into the land of their enemies—or if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and then they pay for their guilt,

² Those of the seed of Israel separated themselves from all of the foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their ancestors.*

²⁷ "He will sing to men, and he will say, 'I have sinned and have perverted what is right, and it was not paid back to me.

⁵ I made known my sin to you, and my iniquity I did not cover. I said, "I will confess concerning my transgressions to Yahweh," and you took away the guilt of my sin. Selah

¹⁸ For my iniquity I confess; I am anxious because of my sin.

¹² For evils without number have encompassed me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails me.

¹³ He who conceals his transgression will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes will obtain mercy.

¹² For our transgressions are numerous before you, and our sins _⌊testify_⌋* against us. Indeed, our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities:

²⁵ Let us lie down in our shame, and let our disgrace cover us. For against Yahweh our God we have sinned, we and our ancestors,* from our youth and until this day. and we have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh our God.'

¹⁸ I will set out and* go to my father and will say to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and _⌊in your sight_⌋!* ¹⁹ I am no longer worthy to be called your son! Make me like one of your hired workers.' ²⁰ And he set out and* came to his own father. But while* he was still a long way away, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran _⌊and embraced him_⌋* and kissed him. ²¹ And his* son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and _⌊in your sight_⌋!* I am no longer worthy to be called your son!'

⁶ "As for the one shedding the blood of humankind, by humankind his blood shall be shed, for God made humankind in his own image.

⁶ Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes,* I know that in the integrity of your heart you did this, and I also _⌊kept you from sinning_⌋* against me. Therefore, I did not allow you to touch her.

⁷ And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the eyes of Yahweh, and Yahweh killed him.

⁹ He has no greater authority in this house than me, and he has not withheld anything from me except you, since you are his wife. Now how could I do this great wickedness and sin against God?"

¹⁹ It is a guilt offering; he certainly was guilty before Yahweh."

² "When a person* _⌊displays infidelity_⌋* against Yahweh and he deceives his fellow citizen regarding* something entrusted or _⌊a pledge_⌋* or stealing or he exploits his fellow citizen, ³ or he finds lost property and lies about it and swears _⌊falsely_⌋* _⌊in regard to_⌋* any one of these things by which _⌊a person_⌋* might commit sin, ⁴ _⌊and when_⌋* he sins and is guilty, then* he shall bring back _⌊the things he had stolen_⌋* or _⌊what he had extorted_⌋* or _⌊something with which he had been entrusted_⌋* or the lost property that he had found, ⁵ or _⌊regarding_⌋* anything about which he has sworn _⌊falsely_⌋,* then* he shall repay it _⌊according to_⌋* its value and shall add one-fifth of its value to it—he must give it _⌊to whom it belongs_⌋* on the day of his guilt offering. ⁶ And he must bring as his guilt offering to Yahweh a ram without defect from the flock* by your valuation* as a guilt offering to the priest, ⁷ and the priest shall make atonement for him _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall be forgiven _⌊anything_⌋* from all that he might do _⌊by which he might incur guilt_⌋."*

⁹ Why have you despised the word of Yahweh by doing evil in his eyes?* Uriah the Hittite you have struck down with the sword, and his wife you have taken to yourself as wife! ¹³ Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against Yahweh!"* Nathan said to David, "Yahweh has also forgiven your sin; you shall not die. ¹⁴ But because you have _⌊utterly scorned_⌋* Yahweh in this matter, the son born for you _⌊will certainly die_⌋."*

¹⁷ They made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, they practiced divination and read omens, and they sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of Yahweh to provoke him.

⁶ He made his son pass through the fire, practiced soothsaying and divination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He increased the doing of evil in the eyes of Yahweh to provoke him.

⁴ He summons the heavens above and the earth that he might judge his people:

⁶ And the heavens declare his righteousness, because God himself is judge. Selah

²⁹ (And all the people, when they* heard this*—even the tax collectors—affirmed the righteousness of God, because they* had been baptized with the baptism of John,

²¹ And his* son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and _⌊in your sight_⌋!* I am no longer worthy to be called your son!'

³¹ because he has set a day on which he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man who he has appointed, having provided proof to everyone by* raising him from the dead."

⁵ But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

⁴ May it never be! But let God be true but every human being a liar, just as it is written,
"In order that you may be justified in your words, and may prevail when you are* judged."*

⁹ But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and thus* are convicted by the law as transgressors.

¹¹ For the one who said "Do not commit adultery"* also said "Do not murder."* Now if you do not commit adultery but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

³ And they were singing the song of Moses, the slave of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying:
"Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God All-Powerful; righteous and true are your ways, King of the ages!* ⁴ Who would never fear, Lord, and glorify your name? For only you are holy, because all the nations* will come and worship before you, because your righteous deeds have been revealed."

⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters saying,
"You are righteous, the one who is and the one who was, the Holy One, because you have judged these things,

¹¹ And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it was called "Faithful" and "True," and with justice* he judges and makes war.

³ And when Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he fathered a child in his likeness, according to his image. And he called his name Seth.

²¹ And Yahweh smelled the soothing fragrance, and Yahweh said _⌊to himself_⌋,* "_⌊Never again will I curse_⌋* the ground for the sake of humankind, because the inclination of the heart of humankind is evil from his youth. _⌊Nor will I ever again destroy_⌋* all life as I have done.

⁴ "Who can bring a clean thing from an unclean thing? No one!*

¹⁴ "What is a human being, that he can be clean, or* that one born of a woman can be righteous? ¹⁵ Look, he does not trust his holy ones, and the heavens are not clean in his eyes. ¹⁶ _⌊How much less_⌋* he who is abominable and corrupt,* a man drinking wickedness like water.

³ The wicked are estranged from the womb. They go astray from the belly, speaking lies.

⁶ What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

¹² Because of this, just as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death spread to all people because all sinned.

³ among whom also we all formerly lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the will* of the flesh and of the mind, and we were children of wrath* by nature, as also the rest of them were.

⁵ Did not he himself say to me, 'She is my sister'? And she herself said, 'He is my brother.' With integrity of my heart and with cleanness of my hands I did this." ⁶ Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes,* I know that in the integrity of your heart you did this, and I also _⌊kept you from sinning_⌋* against me. Therefore, I did not allow you to touch her.

⁷ But Yahweh said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For God does not see what man sees, for a man _⌊looks on the outward appearance_⌋,* but Yahweh _⌊looks on the heart_⌋."*

³ "O Yahweh, please remember how I went about before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and remember the good that I have done in your eyes." Then Hezekiah _⌊wept bitterly_⌋.*

¹⁷ And I know, my God, that you yourself test the heart and are pleased with uprightness. I, in the uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things, and now I have seen your people who are found here willingly offer to you.

²⁰ And Hezekiah did according to this throughout all Judah. And he did what is good and what is right and what is faithful before Yahweh his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God or with respect to the law and the commandment to seek his God, he did with all his heart, and he prospered.

⁸ "Truly, it is a spirit in a human being, and the breath of Shaddai teaches them.

³⁶ Who has put wisdom in the ibis,* or who has given understanding to the rooster?*

⁹ For there is not anything reliable in his mouth; their inner part is destruction.* Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.*

² He who walks blamelessly and does what is right. He who speaks honestly in his heart.

² Prove me, O Yahweh, and test me. Try my _⌊innermost being_⌋* and my _⌊mind_⌋.*

⁴ Do good, O Yahweh, to the good, and to those upright in their hearts.

⁶ For Yahweh will give wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

²¹ For those who are upright will dwell in the land,* and those who are blameless* will remain in it.

³ O Yahweh, do not your eyes look for honesty? You have struck them, but they felt no pain, you have destroyed them, they refused to take discipline. They have hardened their faces more than rock, they have refused to turn back.

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will _⌊make_⌋* with the house of Israel after those days," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh: "I will put my law in their inward parts and on their hearts* I will write it, and I will be to them God, and they themselves will be to me people.

⁴⁰ And I will _⌊make_⌋* with them _⌊an everlasting covenant_⌋* that I will not turn away from them, my doing good to them, and my reverence I will put in their hearts* so that they will not turn aside from me.

³⁹ But the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but your inside is full of greediness and wickedness.

²³ But an hour is coming—and now is here*—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for indeed the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers. ²⁴ God is spirit, and the ones who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

²² For I joyfully agree with the law of God in my inner person,

¹² For our reason for boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, in holiness* and purity of motive from God, not* in merely human wisdom, but by the grace of God.

⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded!

⁴ but the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is highly valuable in the sight of God.

²² And take a bunch of hyssop and dip it into the blood that is in the basin and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts. And you will not go out, anyone from the doorway of his house, until morning.

⁴ then* the priest shall command, and he shall take two living, clean birds and _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and _⌊a crimson thread_⌋* and hyssop for the one who presents himself for cleansing. ⁵ Then* the priest shall command someone* to slaughter one bird over fresh water in a clay vessel. ⁶ He must take the living bird and the _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and _⌊the crimson thread_⌋* and the hyssop, and he shall dip them and the living bird in the bird's blood slaughtered over the fresh water. ⁷ And he shall spatter the blood* seven times on the one who presents himself for cleansing from the infectious skin disease, and he shall declare him clean, and he shall send the living bird _⌊into the open field_⌋.*

⁴⁹ And he shall take two birds and _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and a _⌊crimson thread_⌋* and hyssop to cleanse the house; ⁵⁰ and he shall slaughter the first bird over fresh water on a clay vessel. ⁵¹ Then* he shall take the _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and the hyssop and _⌊the crimson thread_⌋* and the living bird, and he shall dip them in the slaughtered bird's blood and in the fresh water, and he shall spatter them* on the house seven times. ⁵² Thus* he shall purify the house with the bird's blood and with the fresh water and with the living bird and with the _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and with the hyssop and with _⌊the crimson thread_⌋.*

¹⁸ A clean person will take hyssop and dip it into the water and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the objects and persons who were there, and on one who touched the bone, or the one slain, or the dead, or the burial site. ¹⁹ The clean person will spatter the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he will purify him, and he will wash his garments; he will bathe in the waters, and in the evening he will be clean. ²⁰ But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person will be cut off from the midst of the assembly because he defiled the sanctuary of Yahweh; the water of impurity was not sprinkled on him; he is unclean.

¹⁸ "Come now, and let us argue," says Yahweh. "Even though your sins are like scarlet, they will be white like snow; even though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

²⁶ in order that he might sanctify her by cleansing her* with the washing of water by the word; ²⁷ in order that he might present to himself the church glorious, not having a spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she may be holy and blameless.

¹⁹ For when* every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves* with water and scarlet wool and hyssop and sprinkled both the scroll itself and all the people,

⁷ But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are dressed in the white robes—who are they, and from where have they come?" ¹⁴ And I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me,
"These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁷ "Look, happy is the human being whom God reproves; and you must not despise the discipline of Shaddai, ¹⁸ for he himself* wounds, but* he binds up; he strikes, but* his hands heal.

² Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, because I am feeble. Heal me, O Yahweh, for my bones are terrified. ³ My soul is also very terrified. But you, O Yahweh, how long?

⁵ But as for me, I have trusted in your steadfast love.* My heart will rejoice in your deliverance.

¹¹ You have turned my wailing into my dancing. You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy

¹⁰ All of my bones shall say, "O Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from one stronger than he and the poor and needy from the one who robs him?"

³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation. There is no health in my bones because of my sin.

⁸¹ My soul languishes for your salvation; I hope in your word. ⁸² My eyes long for* your word,* saying, "When will you comfort me?"

⁵ Those who sow with tears shall reap with rejoicing. ⁶ He who diligently goes out with weeping, carrying the seed bag, shall certainly come in with rejoicing, carrying his sheaves.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of Yahweh shall return, and they shall come to Zion with rejoicing. And everlasting joy shall be on their head; joy and gladness shall overtake them, and sorrow and sighing shall flee.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy:
"I reside in a high and holy place, and with the _⌊contrite_⌋* and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the _⌊contrite_⌋.* ¹⁶ For I will not attack forever, and I will not be angry forever, for the spirit will grow faint before me, and the breaths that I myself I have made. ¹⁷ I was angry because of his sin of gain, and I struck him; I hid and I was angry, but* he walked apostate, in the ways* of his heart. ¹⁸ I have seen his ways, but* I will heal him; and I will lead him and give him and his mourners comfort as a recompense,

¹ Come, let us return to Yahweh; because it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck us down and will bind us up. ² He will revive us after two days; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live in his presence.*

⁴ Blessed are the ones who mourn, because they will be comforted.

¹⁸ "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed,

Be gracious to me, O God, according to your loyal love. According to your abundant mercies, blot out my transgressions.

Surely God is good to Israel, to those pure of heart.

⁸ and not be like their ancestors,* a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not make ready its heart, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

³⁷ "Thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'Again this time I will let _⌊myself be inquired of_⌋* by the house of Israel, to do something for them; I will cause them to increase _⌊their population like a flock_⌋.*

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, because they will see God.

³ And Yahweh said, "My Spirit shall not abide with humankind forever in that he is also flesh. And his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."

²⁵ And the Spirit of Yahweh began to stir him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

¹⁴ As he came up to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him; and the Spirit of Yahweh rushed on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that has burned with fire, and his bindings melted from his hands.

²⁰ And she said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" And he woke up from his sleep and said, "I will go out just like every other time and shake myself free," but he did not know that Yahweh had left him.

¹⁰ When they went from there to Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God rushed upon him,* and he prophesied among them.

¹⁴ Now the Spirit of Yahweh departed from Saul and an evil spirit from Yahweh tormented him.

¹⁵ But my loyal love shall not depart from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

²³ But Yahweh had mercy on them and showed compassion to them and turned to them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He was not willing to destroy them nor cast them from his presence up to now.

¹⁸ So Yahweh was very angry with Israel and he removed them from his presence; none remained except the tribe of Judah alone. ¹⁹ Even Judah did not keep the commands of Yahweh their God, and they walked in the customs of Israel which they introduced, ²⁰ so Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel and punished them, and he gave them into the hand of the plunderers until he banished them from his presence. ²¹ For he had torn Israel from the house of David, and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king, but Jeroboam detached Israel from following Yahweh, and he made them sin a great sin. ²² The _⌊Israelites_⌋* walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he committed, and they did not depart from it, ²³ until Yahweh removed Israel from his presence as he had foretold by the hand of all his servants, the prophets. And so he deported Israel from upon his land to Assyria until this day.

²⁷ Yahweh had said, "Even Judah I will remove from my face, as I have removed Israel; I will reject this city that I have chosen, even Jerusalem and the house of which I said, 'My name shall be there'!"

²⁰ For it happened because of the anger of Yahweh, in Jerusalem and in Judah, until they were cast out from his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

² because you are the God of my refuge. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

⁹ Do not cast me away in the time of old age; when my strength fails do not abandon me.

¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I proclaim your _⌊strength_⌋* to this generation, your power to every one that comes after.

¹³ Therefore if you, although you* are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

²⁶ But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you.

⁴ who was declared Son of God in power according to _⌊the Holy Spirit_⌋* by the resurrection from the dead of Jesus Christ our Lord,

⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person _⌊does not belong to him_⌋*.

³⁰ and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

⁹ who will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,

⁶ Will you not again revive us, that your people might rejoice in you? ⁷ Show us, O Yahweh, your loyal love, and grant us your salvation. ⁸ I will hear what God, Yahweh, will speak, because he will speak peace to his people, even his faithful ones,* but let them not return to folly.

²³ I know, O Yahweh, that to the human is not his own way, nor to a person is the walking and the directing of his own step.

⁹ With weeping they will come, and with pleas for mercy I will bring them; I will let them walk by streams of water in a straight path. They will not stumble in it, for I have become to Israel a father, and Ephraim, he is my firstborn." ¹⁰ Hear the word of Yahweh, O nations, and declare in the coastlands from afar, and say, "The scatterer of Israel will gather him, and he will keep him as a shepherd his flock. ¹¹ For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, and he has redeemed him from the hand of the person _⌊stronger_⌋* than he. ¹² And they will come, and they will sing for joy on the height of Zion, and they will be radiant over the goodness of Yahweh, over the grain, and over the wine, and over the olive oil, and over the young ones of the flock, and over the cattle. ⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced greatly in God my Savior,

⁴ Who are you, who passes judgment on the domestic slave belonging to someone else? To his own master he stands or falls, and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

¹⁷ Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

⁶ And because you are sons, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying out, "Abba!* (Father!)," ⁷ so that you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, also an heir through God.

⁵ who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time,

²⁴ Now to the one who is able to protect you from stumbling and make you to stand before his glory blameless* with exultation,

⁷ The law of Yahweh is perfect, reviving life.* The testimony of Yahweh is firm, making wise the simple.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to Yahweh. All the families of the nations will worship before you.

⁴ Make me know your ways, O Yahweh. Teach me your paths.

⁸ Good and right is Yahweh; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.

⁸ I* will instruct you and teach you in the way that you should go. I will advise you with my eye upon you. ⁹ Do not be like a horse or like a mule, without understanding; that needs his tackle—bridle and rein—for restraint or he would not come near you. ¹⁰ Many are the pains of the wicked, but for the one who trusts Yahweh loyal love surrounds him.

³ many peoples shall come. And they shall say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house* of the God of Jacob, and may he teach us part of his ways, and let us walk in his paths." For instruction shall go out from Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people insensitive, and make its ears unresponsive, and shut its eyes so that it may not look with its eyes and listen with its ears and comprehend with its mind and turn back, and it may be healed for him."

¹⁸ Indeed I heard Ephraim pitying themselves, 'You disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like a calf that is not trained. Bring me back and let me return, for you are Yahweh my God.

¹ And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing _⌊before_⌋* the angel of Yahweh; and Satan* was standing on his right to accuse him. ² But Yahweh said to Satan,* "Yahweh rebukes you, O Satan!* Yahweh who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you! And the angel of Yahweh was standing by. ⁶ And the angel of Yahweh assured Joshua, saying, ⁷ "Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'If you will walk in my ways, and if you will keep my requirements, then you will judge* my house, and you will also guard my courtyards, and I will give to you passageways* among these that are standing here. ⁸ Listen, please, O Joshua the high priest, you and your companions* that are sitting _⌊before_⌋* you. For the men are a sign that,* look, I am going to bring my servant the Branch.*

³ and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become like young children, you will never enter into the kingdom of heaven!

³² but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail. And you, when* once you have turned back,* strengthen your brothers."

¹⁵ Now when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs!" ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Shepherd my sheep!" ¹⁷ He said to him a third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed because he said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything! You know that I love you!" Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep!

¹⁹ and after* taking food, he regained his strength. And he was with the disciples in Damascus several days. ²⁰ And immediately he began proclaiming* Jesus in the synagogues: "This one is the Son of God!" ²¹ And all who heard him* were amazed, and were saying, "Is this not the one who was wreaking havoc in Jerusalem on those who call upon this name, and had come here for this reason, that he could bring them tied up* to the chief priests?" ²² But Saul was increasing in strength even more, and was confounding the Jews who lived in Damascus by* proving that this one is the Christ.*

¹⁰ and* said, "O you who are full of all deceit and of all unscrupulousness, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness! Will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord!

³ So they were sent on their way by the church, and* passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, telling in detail the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers.

¹⁸ to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.' ¹⁹ "Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, ²⁰ but to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem and all the region of Judea and to the Gentiles, I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, doing deeds worthy of repentance.

⁸ so we are confident and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. ⁹ Therefore indeed we have as our ambition, whether at home in the body or absent from the body, to be acceptable to him. ¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, in order that each one may receive back the things through the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad. ¹¹ Therefore, because we* know the fear of the Lord, we are attempting to persuade people, but we are revealed to God, and I hope to be revealed in your consciences. ¹² We are not commending ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to boast about us, in order that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. ¹³ For if we are out of our senses, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you. ¹⁴ For the love of Christ controls us, because we* have concluded this: that one died for all; as a result all died. ¹⁵ And he died for all, in order that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the one who died for them and was raised. ¹⁶ So then, from now on we know no one _⌊from a human point of view_⌋*, if indeed we have known Christ _⌊from a human point of view_⌋*, but now we know him this way no longer. ¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. ¹⁸ And all these things are from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation, ¹⁹ namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. ²⁰ Therefore we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as if* God were imploring you through us. ¹⁹ My brothers, if anyone among you should wander away from the truth and someone turns him back, ²⁰ he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from the error of his way will save that person's* soul from death, and will cover over a great number of sins.

²² Then Reuben answered them, saying, "Did I not say to you, do not sin against the boy? But you did not listen, and now, behold, his blood has been sought."

⁹ Why have you despised the word of Yahweh by doing evil in his eyes?* Uriah the Hittite you have struck down with the sword, and his wife you have taken to yourself as wife! You have killed him with the sword of the _⌊Ammonites_⌋!*

¹ There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David _⌊inquired of Yahweh_⌋,* and Yahweh said, "The bloodguilt is on Saul and on his household, because he killed the Gibeonites."

¹³ After all that has come upon us for our evil practices and for our great guilt—you, our God, have held back less than our guilt deserved and you have given us a remainder such as this.

³³ You are righteous in everything that has come on us, for you dealt faithfully, and we have acted wickedly.

⁵ Cause me to walk in your truth and teach me, because you are the God of my salvation. I await you _⌊all day long_⌋.*

⁹ Do not destroy me* with the sinners, nor my life with men of bloodshed,

²⁸ Then my tongue will proclaim your righteousness, and your praise all day.

²² Hurry to help me, O Lord, my salvation.

²³ But you, O God, you will bring them down to the pit of corruption. The men of bloodshed and deceit will not live half their days, but I will trust you.

²⁰ Our God is a God of deliverances, and to the Yahweh the Lord belong escapes from death.

¹⁵ My mouth will tell of your righteousness, your salvation _⌊all day long_⌋,* though I do not know the full sum of them. ¹⁶ I will come in to tell the mighty deeds of Lord Yahweh. I will _⌊make known_⌋* your righteousness, yours only. ¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth, and up to now I have proclaimed your wonderful deeds. ¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I proclaim your _⌊strength_⌋* to this generation, your power to every one that comes after. ¹⁹ And your righteousness, O God, is to the height of heaven. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? ²⁰ You who have caused me* to see many troubles and evils, you will again revive me.* And from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. ²¹ You will increase my greatness, and you will comfort me all around.* ²² On my part, I will praise you with a stringed instrument, and your faithfulness, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel. ²³ My lips will sing for joy when I sing praises to you, and my soul, which you have redeemed. ²⁴ My tongue also will speak of your righteousness all the day, because they have been put to shame, because they have been humiliated who seek my harm.

¹² I will give you thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and glorify your name forever, ¹³ because your loyal love is great toward me, and you will have delivered my life from Sheol* below.

O Yahweh, God of my salvation, I cry out by day and through the night before you.

² Look! God is my salvation; I will trust, and I will not be afraid, for my strength and might is Yah, Yahweh; and he has become salvation for me."

¹⁷ Israel is saved by Yahweh with everlasting salvation; you shall not be ashamed, and you shall not be humiliated _⌊to all eternity_⌋.*

⁸ _⌊When I say_⌋* to the wicked, 'Wicked one, you will certainly die,' and you _⌊did not speak_⌋* to warn the wicked from his way, he, the wicked, will die by his guilt, but his blood I will seek from your hand.

⁷ "_⌊Righteousness belongs to you, O Lord_⌋,* and on us is open shame, just as it is this day to the people of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to all Israel, _⌊those who are near and those who are far off_⌋* in all the lands to which you have driven them,* because of their infidelity which they displayed against you.

¹⁶ Lord, according to all your righteousness, please let your anger and your rage turn away from your city Jerusalem, _⌊your holy mountain_⌋,* because through our sins and through the iniquities of our ancestors* Jerusalem and your people have become an object of mockery among all of our neighbors.

² Swearing and lying, murdering and stealing, and adultery break out,* and bloodshed follows bloodshed.

¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh; I will exult in the God of my salvation.

⁶ And when* they resisted and reviled him,* he shook out his* clothes and* said to them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am guiltless! From now on I will go to the Gentiles!"

²⁶ Therefore I testify to you on this very day that I am guiltless of the blood of all of you,*

³ For ignoring the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own,* they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹⁶ And Judah said, "What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? Now how can we show ourselves innocent? God has found the guilt of your servants! Behold, we are slaves to my lord, both we and also he in whose hand the cup was found."

¹¹ And Yahweh said to him, "Who gave a mouth to humankind, or who makes mute or deaf or sighted or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh?

⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful* ones, but the wicked will be destroyed* in the darkness, because a man will not prevail by his might.

¹⁴ so that I may tell of all your praises. In the gates of the daughter of Zion let me rejoice in your salvation.

³ Because your loyal love is better than life, my lips will praise you. ⁴ So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my _⌊hands_⌋* in your name. ⁵ My soul will be satisfied as with the best and richest food, and with joyful lips my mouth will praise.

¹³ With my lips I have told of all the ordinances of your mouth.

²⁷ And when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "The one hearing him, let him hear, and the one failing to hear, let him fail," ' for they _⌊are a rebellious house_⌋.*

⁶³ in order that you will remember, and you will be ashamed, and _⌊you will not open your mouth again_⌋* _⌊because of_⌋* your disgrace when I forgive you for all that you have done!'" _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

²¹ "On that day I will cause _⌊power_⌋* to grow up for the house of Israel, and for you I will give an opening of your mouth in the midst of them, and they will know that I am Yahweh."

¹² And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here, not having wedding clothes?' But _⌊he could say nothing_⌋.*

³⁴ And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, "Ephphatha!" (that is, "Be opened!").

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those under the law, in order that every mouth may be closed and the whole world may become accountable to God.

¹⁵ Therefore through him let us offer up a sacrifice of praise _⌊continually_⌋* to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.

¹⁴ But if a man schemes against his neighbor to kill him by treachery,* you will take him from my altar to die.

²⁷ " 'If one person sins unintentionally, that person will present a female goat _⌊in its first year_⌋* as a sin offering.

³⁰ But the one _⌊who acts presumptuously_⌋* from among the native or alien blasphemes against Yahweh, and that person must be cut off from the midst of the people. ³¹ Because he despised the word of Yahweh and broke his command, that person will be surely cut off and bear the guilt.'"

³¹ Also, you will not take a ransom payment for the life of a killer who is guilty of death; indeed, he must surely be put to death.

²² "If a man is found lying _⌊with a married woman_⌋,* then they shall both die; _⌊both of them_⌋,* the man who lay with the woman and the woman also, so you shall purge the evil from Israel.

²² Then Samuel said,
"Is there as much delight for Yahweh in burnt offerings and sacrifices as there is in _⌊obeying_⌋* Yahweh? Look! _⌊To obey_⌋* is better than sacrifice; to give heed than the fat of rams.

⁶ A sacrifice and offering you do not desire. _⌊My ears you have opened_⌋.* Burnt offering and sin offering you have not demanded.

⁸ It is not concerning a lack of your sacrifices that I rebuke you, and your burnt offerings are before me continually.

⁶ Behold, you delight in truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden parts you make me to know wisdom.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it in divisiveness!

¹¹ What is the abundance of your sacrifices to me? says Yahweh. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals and I do not delight in the blood of bulls and ram-lambs and goats. ¹² When you come to appear before me, who asked for this from your hand: you trampling my courts? ¹³ You must not _⌊continue_⌋* to bring offerings* of futility, incense—it is an abomination to me; new moon and Sabbath, the calling of a convocation— I cannot endure iniquity with solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed festivals my soul hates; they have become to me like a burden, I am not able to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers,* I will not be listening. Your hands are full of blood.

²² For I did not speak with your ancestors,* nor did I command them in the day of bringing them out from the land of Egypt, concerning the matter of burnt offering and sacrifice. ²³ But I only commanded them this word, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'Obey my voice, and I will be to you God, and you will be to me people, and you must walk in all of the way that I command you, so that it goes well with you.'

²⁷ So you shall speak to them all these words, but they will not listen to you, and you shall call to them, but they will not answer you.

⁶ Because I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

²¹ "I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your assemblies. ²² Yes, even if you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them, and I will not look at the fellowship offerings of your fattened animals. ²³ Remove from me the noise of your songs, and I do not want to hear the melody of your harps!

⁵ Therefore, when he* came into the world, he said,
"Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but a body you prepared for me; ⁶ you did not delight in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sins.

¹⁹ because you have a responsive heart, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh when you heard how I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants to become a desolation and a curse, and you have torn your clothes and wept before my face, I have also heard, declares Yahweh.

¹² And when he was in distress he entreated Yahweh his God and greatly humbled himself before the God of his ancestors* ¹³ and prayed to him. And God responded to him and heard his plea and let him return to Jerusalem to his kingdom. And Manasseh knew that Yahweh was God.

²⁴ because he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and has not hid his face from him; but he listened to him when he cried for help.

¹⁸ Yahweh is near to those who are heartbroken and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

¹⁷ He will turn his attention to the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.

²² and let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his works with rejoicing.

³ He is the one who heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy:
"I reside in a high and holy place, and with the _⌊contrite_⌋* and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the _⌊contrite_⌋.*

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up _⌊the brokenhearted_⌋,* to _⌊proclaim_⌋* release to the captives and liberation to those who are bound, ² to _⌊proclaim_⌋* the year of Yahweh's favor, and our God's day of vengeance, to comfort all those in mourning, ³ to _⌊give_⌋* for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And _⌊they will be called_⌋* oaks of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, to show his glory.

² And my hand has made all these things, and all these _⌊came to be_⌋,"*
_⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "but* I look to this one:
to the humble and the contrite of spirit and the one frightened at my word.

³ And the glory of the God of Israel lifted itself up from upon the cherub that he was on* and went to the threshold of the house,* and he called to the man who was clothed in linen _⌊with a scribal writing case at his side_⌋.* ⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men _⌊who are groaning and lamenting_⌋* about all of the detestable things _⌊that are being done_⌋* in the midst of her."

⁶ You must kill _⌊totally_⌋* old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but _⌊concerning_⌋* every man _⌊with the mark on him_⌋* you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin." And they began with the old men who _⌊were before_⌋* the house.*

²¹ "I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your assemblies.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

³³ And to love him from your* whole heart and from your* whole understanding and from your* whole strength, and to love your* neighbor as yourself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."

³⁹ Now when* the Pharisee who invited him saw this,* he spoke to himself, saying, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner." ⁴⁰ And Jesus answered and* said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." And he said, "Teacher, say it."* ⁴¹ "There were two debtors who owed a certain creditor. One owed five hundred denarii and the other fifty. ⁴² When* they were not able to repay him,* he forgave the debts* of both. Now which of them will love him more?" ⁴³ Simon answered and* said, "I suppose that it is the one to whom he forgave more." And he said to him, "You have judged correctly." ⁴⁴ And turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house. You did not give me water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them* with her hair. ⁴⁵ You did not give me a kiss, but from the time I entered, she has not stopped kissing my feet. ⁴⁶ You did not anoint my head with olive oil, but she anointed my feet with perfumed oil. ⁴⁷ _⌊For this reason_⌋* I tell you, her sins—which were many—have been forgiven, for she loved much. But the one to whom little is forgiven loves little." ⁴⁸ And he said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." ⁴⁹ And those who were reclining at the table with him began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" ⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

² And both the Pharisees and the scribes were complaining, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!" ³ So he told them this parable, saying, ⁴ "What man of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the grassland and go after the one that was lost until he finds it? ⁵ And when he* has found it,* he places it* on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he* returns to his* home, he calls together his* friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!' ⁷ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.

¹⁰ In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

²¹ And his* son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and _⌊in your sight_⌋!* I am no longer worthy to be called your son!' ²² But his* father said to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out the best robe and put it* on him, and put a ring on his finger* and sandals on his* feet! ²³ And bring the fattened calf—kill it* and let us eat and* celebrate, ²⁴ because this son of mine was dead, and is alive again! He was lost and is found!' And they began to celebrate. ²⁵ "Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and* approached the house, he heard music and dancing. ²⁶ And he summoned one of the slaves and* asked what these things meant. ²⁷ And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has gotten him back healthy.' ²⁸ But he became angry and did not want to go in. So his father came out and* began to implore* him. ²⁹ But he answered and* said to his father, 'Behold, so many years I have served you, and have never disobeyed your command! And you never gave me a young goat so that I could celebrate with my friends! ³⁰ But when this son of yours returned—who has consumed your assets with prostitutes—you killed the fattened calf for him!' ³¹ But he said to him, 'Child, you are always with me, and _⌊everything I have belongs to you_⌋.* ³² But it was necessary to celebrate and to rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead, and is alive, and was lost, and is found!'"

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and* prayed these things with reference to himself: 'God, I give thanks to you that I am not like other people—swindlers, unrighteous people, adulterers, or even like this tax collector! ¹² I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all that I get.' ¹³ But the tax collector, standing far away, did not want even to raise his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than that one! For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

¹ Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.

¹⁸ But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; _⌊I am well supplied_⌋* because* I received from Epaphroditus _⌊what you had sent_⌋*, a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.

¹⁶ And do not neglect doing good and generosity, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

⁵ And you yourselves, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ Then I said to them, "You see the misery that we are in, that Jerusalem is ruined and its gates burned by the fire. Come, build the walls of Jerusalem and we shall no longer be a disgrace."

²² O God, redeem Israel from all its troubles.

³⁵ because God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it.

¹⁶ For Yahweh will rebuild Zion; he will appear in his glory.

⁶ Pray* for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease. ⁷ May peace be within your walls, security within your palaces." ⁸ For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will say, "Peace be within you." ⁹ For the sake of the house* of Yahweh our God, I will seek your good.

⁵ If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget.* ⁶ Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if do not I exalt Jerusalem above my highest joy.

² Yahweh is building Jerusalem; he gathers the scattered ones of Israel.

³ For Yahweh will comfort Zion; he will comfort all its sites of ruins. And he will _⌊make_⌋* its wilderness like Eden, and its desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the _⌊sound_⌋* of song.

¹² And they shall rebuild ancient ruins from you; you shall erect the foundations of _⌊many generations,_⌋* and _⌊you shall be called_⌋* the bricklayer of the breach, the restorer of paths to live in.

¹ For the sake of Zion I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not maintain a quiet attitude, until her righteousness goes out like the bright light, and her salvation burns like a torch.

⁶ I have appointed watchmen upon your walls, Jerusalem; all day and all night they shall never be silent. You who profess Yahweh have no rest. ⁷ And you must not give him rest until he establishes, and until he _⌊makes_⌋* Jerusalem _⌊an object of praise_⌋* in the earth.

⁵⁰ Survivors of the sword, go! You must not linger! Remember Yahweh from far away, and let Jerusalem come to your _⌊mind_⌋.*

²⁵ And you must know and you must understand* that from the time of the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem until an anointed* one—a leader—will be _⌊seven weeks and sixty-two weeks_⌋;* it will be restored and will be built with streets and a moat, but _⌊in a time of oppression_⌋.*

¹¹ A day for building your walls; on that day he will extend your boundary.

⁵ And I will be for it a wall of fire all around,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'and I will be the glory in its midst.'"

³² "Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.

²⁸ Apart from these external things, there is the pressure on me every day of the anxiety about all the churches. ²⁹ Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is caused to sin, and I do not burn with indignation?

⁵ having predestined us to adoption through Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will,

⁹ making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he purposed in him,

¹³ For the one at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure, is God.

¹¹ for which purpose we also pray always for you, that you may be considered worthy of the calling of our God, and he might fulfill every desire for goodness and work of faith with power,*

⁵ Offer correct sacrifices,* and _⌊trust in_⌋* Yahweh.

¹³ I will come into your house* with burnt offerings. I will pay to you my vows ¹⁴ that my lips uttered, and my mouth spoke in my distress. ¹⁵ Burnt offerings of fat animals I will offer to you, with the smoke of rams. I will do* cattle with rams. Selah

²⁷ Yahweh is God, and he has given us light.* Bind the festal sacrifice* with cords* to the horns* of the altar.

³ He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the children of Levi, and he will refine them like gold and like silver, and they will present to Yahweh offerings* in righteousness.

² and live in love, just as also Christ loved us, and gave himself for us an offering and sacrifice to God for a fragrant smell.*
