¹⁹ The way of the lazy is like a hedge of thorns,* but the path of the upright is a highway.

¹ Then all the community _⌊lifted up their voices_⌋,* and the people wept during that night. ² And all the _⌊Israelites_⌋* grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and all the community said to them, "If only we had died in the land of Egypt or in this desert! ³ Why did Yahweh bring us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little children will become plunder; would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?"

⁷ And they said to all the community of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* "The land that we went through to explore is an _⌊exceptionally good land_⌋.* ⁸ If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and he will give it to us, a land that is flowing with milk and honey. ⁹ Only do not rebel against Yahweh, and you will not fear the people of the land, because they will be our food. _⌊Their protection_⌋* has been turned from them; Yahweh is with us. You should not fear them."

⁸ O Yahweh, lead me in your righteousness because of my enemies; make straight before me your way.

⁸ Good and right is Yahweh; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. ⁹ He causes the humble to walk in justice, and teaches the humble his way.

¹² Who is the man fearing Yahweh? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.

¹¹ Teach me, O Yahweh, your way, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths.

⁹ All of them are straight to him who understands, and upright to those who find knowledge.

⁵ Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he who guards himself* will keep away from them.

¹³ A lazy person says "A lion in the street! In the middle of the highway, I shall be killed!"

²¹ And your ears shall hear a word from behind you, saying, "this is the way; walk in it," when you go to your right and when you go to your left.

⁸ And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness. The unclean shall not travel through it, but* it is for them, he who walks on the way; and fools shall not wander about.

¹⁴ And one shall say, "Build up, build up! Clear the way! Remove the obstacles* from the way of my people!"
