⁴ The soul* of the lazy craves, but there is nothing, but the person of diligence is richly supplied.

¹⁰ Who can count the dust of Jacob, or as a number the fourth part of Israel? Let my life die the death of an upright person, and let my end be like his!"

¹⁴ They will still prosper in old age. They will be fat and luxuriant,*

² in order to incline your ear toward wisdom, then you shall apply your heart to understanding. ³ For if you cry out for understanding,* if you lift* your voice for insight, ⁴ if you seek her like silver and search her out _⌊like treasure_⌋,* ⁵ then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and the knowledge of God you will find. ⁶ For Yahweh will give wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. ⁷ For the upright, he stores* sound judgment, a shield for those who walk uprightly, ⁸ in order to guard paths of justice and keep* the way of his faithful ones. ⁹ Then you will understand righteousness and justice and uprightness—every good course—

³⁴ Happy is the person who listens to me, in order to keep watch at my doors day by day, in order to guard the frames of my entrances.

⁴ A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent enriches.

²⁵ A person of blessing will be enriched, and he who gives water also will be refreshed.

¹¹ He who works his land will have plenty of food, but he who follows worthless things lacks _⌊sense_⌋.*

²⁴ The hand of the diligent ones will rule, but the lazy will belong to forced labor.

¹³ A lazy person says "A lion is in the road! A lion among the streets!"

²⁵ The _⌊greedy person_⌋* will stir up strife, but he who trusts in Yahweh will be enriched.

¹¹ And Yahweh will lead you continually, and satisfy your soul in a barren land, and he will strengthen your bones, and you shall be like a well-watered garden, and like a spring of water whose water does not fail.

²⁷ Do not work for the food that perishes, but the food that remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has set his seal on this one."

¹¹ And we desire each one of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the full assurance of your hope until the end,

⁵ and for this same reason, and by* applying all diligence, supply with your faith excellence of character, and with excellence of character, knowledge, ⁶ and with knowledge, self-control, and with self-control, patient endurance, and with patient endurance, godliness, ⁷ and with godliness, brotherly love, and with brotherly love, love. ⁸ For if* these things are yours and are increasing, this does not make you useless or unproductive in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For the one for whom these things are not present is blind, being nearsighted, _⌊having forgotten the cleansing_⌋* of his former sins. ¹⁰ Therefore, brothers, be zealous even more to make your calling and election secure, because if you* do these things, you will never ever stumble. ¹¹ For in this way entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied for you.
