After him Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, keeper of the East Gate, repaired. ³⁰ After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section. After him Meshullam son of Berekiah repaired the wall opposite his room. ³¹ After him Malkijah, _⌊one of the goldsmiths_⌋,* repaired up to the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Enrollment Gate and up to the upper room of the corner. ³² Between the upper room of the corner to the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants repaired.

⁵ And the officials shall speak to the troops, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'Who is the man who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to this house, so that he does not die in battle and _⌊another man_⌋* dedicates it.

²⁰ After him Baruch son of Zabbai zealously repaired a second section of a wall from the angle up to the doorway of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

³² Between the upper room of the corner to the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants repaired.

¹ Now when it was reported to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and to the rest of our enemies that I had built the wall and that no gap was left in it—though up to that time I had not erected doors in the gates—

¹ Now when the wall had been built and I had erected the doors and appointed the gatekeepers, singers, and the Levites,

¹⁰ Jeshua fathered Jehoiakim; Jehoiakim fathered Eliashib; Eliashib fathered Jehoiada;

³⁰ And the priests and the Levites purified themselves and purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths.

⁹ Honor Yahweh from your substance,* and from the firstfruits of all that will come to you,

³⁸ "Look, days are coming," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "and the city will be rebuilt for Yahweh, from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.

¹⁰ All the land will be transformed into a desert plateau* from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But it* will rise up high and it will stay* in its place from the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, up to the Corner Gate and from the Tower of Hananel to the king's winepresses.

² Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool called in Aramaic Bethzatha,* which has five porticoes.

¹⁴ Then afterward he built an outer wall for the city of David west of the Gihon in the valley, and for the entrance into the Gate of the Fishes. And it encircled the Ophel and raised it very high. Then he placed strong commanders in all the fortified cities of Judah.

⁸ Also, a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king's land reserve, that he should give me timber for laying the beams for the gates of the citadel of the house and for the walls of the city, and for the house which I will enter." And the king gave permission to me, according to the good hand of God on me.

⁶ Jehoiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam repaired the old Yeshanah Gate. They laid its beams and erected its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

¹⁰ "And there shall be on that day"—a declaration of Yahweh— "a _⌊loud outcry_⌋* from the Fish Gate, and a wailing from the Second District, and a loud* crashing from the hills.

³³ On the fourth day, the silver, gold, and vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hand of priest Meremoth, the son of Uriah, and with him Eleazar son of Phinehas. With them were the Levites, Jehozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.

²¹ After him Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired a second section of a wall from the doorway of the house of Eliashib up to the end of the house of Eliashib.

⁷ Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,

¹⁵ Bunni, Azgad, Bebai,

²³ 'Curse Meroz,' says the angel of Yahweh; 'curse bitterly its inhabitants, because they did not come to the help of Yahweh, to the help of Yahweh against the mighty.'

² So Joab sent to Tekoa and took from there a wise woman, and he said to her, "Please pretend to mourn and put on garments of mourning. You should not anoint yourself with oil, and you must act like this woman who has been mourning over the dead for _⌊a long time_⌋.*

²⁷ After him the Tekoites repaired a second section of a wall opposite the projecting tower that goes out as far as the wall of Ophel.

⁴ Then I said, "They are just simple people, they are foolish, for they know not the way of Yahweh, the law* of their God. ⁵ Let me go to the great, and let me speak with them, for they know the way of Yahweh, the law* of their God." However, they together have broken the yoke, they have torn to pieces the bonds.

² thus said Yahweh to me—"Make for yourself fetters and yokes and put them on your neck,

⁸ "But it will be that the nation or kingdom that will not serve him, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put his neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will punish that nation with the sword, and with the famine, and with the plague," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "until I have destroyed it with my hand.

¹² And I spoke words like these to Zedekiah, the king of Judah, _⌊saying_⌋,* "Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

⁸ And it will happen on that day,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh of hosts, 'I will break his yoke from your neck and your bonds I will tear to pieces. And strangers will no longer let him work as a slave. ⁹ But they will serve Yahweh their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

¹ The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds from Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah the king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Jehoash, two years _⌊before_⌋* the earthquake.

²⁹ Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

¹⁰ So now why are you putting God to the test by* placing on the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?

²⁶ For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise according to human standards,* not many were powerful, not many were well born.

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present age not to be proud and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in God, who provides us all things richly for enjoyment, ¹⁸ to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, sharing freely,

³ But the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua did to Jericho and Ai, ⁴ and they acted on their part with cunning: they went and prepared provisions,* and took worn-out sacks* for their donkeys and old wineskins that were torn and mended. ⁵ The sandals on their feet were patched and old, their clothes were old, and their food was dry and crumbled. ⁶ And they went to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal and said to him and to the men of Israel, "We have come from a far land; so then _⌊make a covenant with us_⌋."* ⁷ And the men of Israel said to the Hivites,* "Perhaps you are living among us; how can we _⌊make a covenant_⌋* with you?" ⁸ They said to Joshua, "We are your servants." And Joshua said to them, "Who are you, and from where do you come?" ⁹ And they said to him, "Your servants have come from a very far land because of the name of Yahweh your God; we have heard of his reputation, of all that he did in Egypt, ¹⁰ and of all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan—to Sihon king of Heshbon and to Og king of Bashan, who was in Ashtaroth. ¹¹ So our elders said to us and all the inhabitants of our land, 'Take in your hand provisions for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, "We are your servants; so then _⌊make a covenant with us_⌋." '* ¹² This is our bread; it was hot when we took it from our houses as provisions on the day we set out to come to you. But now, look, it is dry and crumbled. ¹³ These are the wineskins that we filled new, but look, they have burst; and these are our clothes and sandals that have worn out from the very long journey." ¹⁴ So the leaders* took from their provisions, but _⌊they did not ask direction from Yahweh_⌋.* ¹⁵ And Joshua made peace with them, and _⌊he made a covenant with them_⌋* to allow them to live happily, and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them. ¹⁶ And it happened that at the end of three days, after they made a covenant with them, they heard that _⌊they were their neighbors_⌋* and living among them. ¹⁷ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* set out and went to their cities on the third day (their cities were Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath Jearim). ¹⁸ But the _⌊Israelites_⌋* did not attack them, because the leaders of the congregation had sworn to them by Yahweh the God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured _⌊against their leaders_⌋.* ¹⁹ But all the leaders of the congregation said, "We have sworn to them by Yahweh the God of Israel, and so we cannot touch them. ²⁰ This we will do to them: we will let them live so that wrath will not be on us because of the oath we swore to them." ²¹ And the leaders* said to them, "Let them live." So they became woodcutters and water carriers for all the congregation, just as the leaders had said to them. ²² And Joshua summoned them and said, "Why have you deceived us saying, 'We are very far from you' when you are living among us? ²³ Therefore you are cursed; some of you will always be slaves as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God." ²⁴ And they answered Joshua and said, "Because it was told with certainty to your servants that Yahweh your God commanded Moses his servant to give to you all the land and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land before you, so we were very afraid for our lives because of you, and so we did this thing. ²⁵ So then, look, we are in your hand; do with us whatever seems good and right in your eyes." ²⁶ So he did this to them: he saved them from the hand of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and they did not kill them. ²⁷ And that day Joshua made them woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation and for the altar of Yahweh, to this day, in the place that he should choose.

² So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not from the _⌊Israelites_⌋;* they were from the remainder of the Amorites. Now the _⌊Israelites_⌋* had sworn to them,* but Saul tried to wipe them out in his zeal for the _⌊Israelites_⌋* and Judah.

⁶ Then King Asa took all of Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building, and he built Geba and Mizpah with them.

⁷ Then I said to the king, "If it is good for the king, let letters be given to me for the governors in the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass until I come to Judah. ⁸ Also, a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king's land reserve, that he should give me timber for laying the beams for the gates of the citadel of the house and for the walls of the city, and for the house which I will enter." And the king gave permission to me, according to the good hand of God on me.

² And Joseph instructed his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel.

²⁵ And you will make it into holy anointing oil, a spice blend of a fragrant ointment the work of a perfumer; it will be holy anointing oil.

³¹ After him Malkijah, _⌊one of the goldsmiths_⌋,* repaired up to the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Enrollment Gate and up to the upper room of the corner. ³² Between the upper room of the corner to the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants repaired.

³⁸ Then the second choir went the opposite way. I followed after them with half of the people on the wall, from over the Tower of the Ovens up to the Wide Wall

¹ Dead flies cause a bad smell and ruin* the ointment of the perfumer. So also a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.

⁶ Those who lavish gold from the purse and weigh out silver in the balance scales; hire _⌊a goldsmith_⌋* and he makes him a god; they bow down, indeed they bow in worship.

⁸ And on the next day we departed and* came to Caesarea, and entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and* stayed with him. ⁹ (_⌊Now this man had_⌋* four virgin daughters who prophesied.)

³ Yes, I ask also you, true yokefellow, help them, who struggled along with me in the gospel with both Clement and the rest of my fellow workers whose names are in the book of life.

⁹ And Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the Angle, and he strengthened them.

¹³ I went out during the night at the gate of the valley by the Dragon spring and to the Dung Gate. And I examined the walls in Jerusalem and its gates that had been destroyed by the fire.

³⁰ Zanoah, Adullam and _⌊their settlements_⌋,* Lachish and its fields, and Azekah and _⌊its settlements_⌋.* So they camped from Beersheba up to the Valley of Hinnom.

³¹ Then I brought the commanders of Judah up on to the wall. I appointed two great choirs; one went in a procession to the right on the wall to the Dung Gate.

¹ Flee for safety, O children of Benjamin, from the midst of Jerusalem. And in Tekoa blow a horn, and on Beth-haccherem lift up a signal, for evil looks down from the north, and a great destruction.

¹ All the _⌊Israelites_⌋* went out, from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and they gathered as one body* to Yahweh at Mizpah.

³ (The descendants* of Benjamin heard that the _⌊Israelites_⌋* had gone up to Mizpah.) And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* said, "Tell us, how did this evil act occur?"

⁶ The king and his men went to Jerusalem, to the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land. They said to David, "You will not come here, for even the blind and the lame can turn you back, saying, 'David cannot come here.'" ⁷ David captured the fortress of Zion, the city of David.

⁴ Then the city was breached, and all of the men of war entered by night by way of the gate between the wall which was by the garden of the king, and the Chaldeans were against the city all around, so he* left by the way of the Arabah.

³⁰ And this same Hezekiah blocked off the flow of the waters of the upper Gihon, and directed them down the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

¹⁴ I crossed over to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool, but there was no place for _⌊my mount_⌋* to cross over.

³⁷ At the Fountain Gate opposite them they went up the steps of the city of David, at the assent to the wall, over the house of David, and up to the Water Gate to the east.

⁶ "Because this people has refused the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

⁶ So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, at Mizpah and stayed with him in the midst of the people who were left in the land.

⁴ Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them—do you think that they were sinners worse than all the people who live in Jerusalem?

⁷ And he said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated "sent"). So he went and washed and came back seeing.

⁵⁸ Halhul, Beth Zur, Gedor,

²⁷ so King Rehoboam made small copper shields in place of them and _⌊entrusted them_⌋* to the commanders of the royal guard who keep the doorway of the king's house. ²⁸ Whenever the king came to the house of Yahweh, the royal guard carried them and brought them back to the alcove room of the royal guard.

²⁰ Now the remainder of the acts of Hezekiah, all of his powerful deeds, and how he made the pool and the conduit and brought the water into the city, are they not written in the scroll of the events of the days of the kings of Judah?

⁴⁵ And the son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth-Zur.

⁷ Beth-Zur, Socoh, Adullam,

¹⁰ And King Rehoboam made small shields of bronze in their place and committed them into the hand of the commanders of the guards who were keeping the entrance of the house of the king. ¹¹ And whenever the king went into the house of Yahweh, the guards came and carried them, and then they returned them to the alcove of the guards.

¹⁴ And they buried him in his burial site, which had been cut out for him in the city of David. And they laid him on the bier which they had filled with all kinds of spices made by the perfumers as a fragment ointment. And they made a great fire in his honor.

⁷ Look! It is Solomon's _⌊portable couch_⌋!* Sixty mighty men surround _⌊it_⌋,* the mighty men of Israel.

³ Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, "Go out to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-Jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool on the highway of the washer's field.

¹¹ And you made a reservoir between the walls for the waters of the old pool, but you did not look to its maker, and you did not see _⌊the one who created it long ago_⌋.*

²⁹ "Men and brothers, it is possible to speak with confidence to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us until this day.

⁴⁴ Keilah, Aczib, and Mareshah; nine cities and their villages.

¹ Now they told David, "Look, the Philistines are fighting in Keilah and they are raiding the threshing floors." ² So David inquired of Yahweh, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?" And Yahweh said to David, "Go and attack the Philistines and save* Keilah." ³ But David's men said to him, "Look, we are afraid here in Judah. _⌊How much more_⌋* if we go to Keilah to the battle lines of the Philistines?" ⁴ So David again inquired of Yahweh, and Yahweh answered him and said, "Get up, go down to Keilah, for I am giving the Philistines into your hand." ⁵ So David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines. They drove off their livestock and _⌊dealt them a heavy blow_⌋.* So David saved* the inhabitants of Keilah. ⁶ _⌊Now when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled_⌋* to David at Keilah, he went down with an ephod in his hand. ⁷ When it was told to Saul that David had gone to Keilah, Saul said, "God _⌊has given him_⌋* into my hand, because he has shut himself in by going into a city with _⌊two barred gates_⌋.* ⁸ Saul then summoned all of the army for the battle, to go down to Keilah to lay a siege against David and his men. ⁹ When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here." ¹⁰ And David said, "O Yahweh, God of Israel, your servant has clearly heard that Saul is seeking to come to Keilah to destroy the city because of me. ¹¹ Will the rulers of Keilah deliver me into his hand? Will Saul come down as your servant has heard? O Yahweh, God of Israel, please tell your servant!" And Yahweh said, "He will come down." ¹² Then David said, "Will the rulers of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?" And Yahweh said, "They will deliver you." ¹³ So David and his men got up, about six hundred men, and went out from Keilah and wandered wherever they could go. When it was told to Saul that David had escaped from Keilah, _⌊he stopped his pursuit_⌋.*

⁴ Of these, David said, "Twenty-four thousand are to direct the work of the house of Yahweh, along with six thousand judges and officials,

¹⁶ After him Nehemiah son of Azbuk, commander of half of the district of Beth Zur, repaired up to a point opposite the burial sites of David, and up to the artificial pool and to the house of the mighty warriors.

⁹ And the Levites: Jeshua son of Azaniah, Binnui from the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel;

⁸ And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah and his brothers who were in charge of the songs of thanksgiving.

¹ Then Eliashib the high priest and his brothers the priests arose and rebuilt the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and erected its doors. They consecrated it up to the Tower of the Hundred and up to the Tower of Hananel.

²² In the days of Eliashib, Jehoiada, Jehohanan, and Jaddua the Levites were recorded as heads of the _⌊families_⌋.* So these were the priests during the reign of Darius the Persian. ²³ The descendants* of Levi and the heads of the _⌊families_⌋* were recorded in the scroll of the Annals until the days of Jehohanan son of Eliashib.

⁴ Before this, Eliashib the priest who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God—the one related to Tobiah—

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do—do it with all your might; for in Sheol—where you are going—no one works, plans, knows, or thinks about anything.

¹¹ not lagging in diligence, being enthusiastic in spirit, serving the Lord,

⁶¹ And from the descendants* of the priests: the descendants* of Habaiah, the descendants* of Hakkoz, and the descendants* of Barzillai (who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name).

⁶³ And from the priests: the descendants* of Hobaiah, the descendants* of Hakkoz, the descendants* of Barzillai (who had taken as a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).

⁴ Then Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden podium that had been made for the occasion. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right. On his left was Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

⁷ And Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites were teaching the people from the law* while the people were in their places.

² Now at that time the army of the king of Babylon was laying siege to Jerusalem and Jeremiah the prophet was confined in the courtyard of the guard that was in the palace of the king of Judah,

¹ And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah a second time while he was still held back in the courtyard of the guard, _⌊saying_⌋,*

²¹ So King Zedekiah commanded, and they handed Jeremiah over in the courtyard of the guard, and they gave to him a round loaf of bread from the street of the bakers _⌊every day_⌋* until the finishing of all the bread from the city. And Jeremiah stayed in the courtyard of the guard.

⁸ And the Chaldeans burned the palace* of the king and the houses* of the people with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

¹⁴ And they sent and took Jeremiah from the courtyard of the guard and gave him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him to the house, so he stayed in the midst of the people. ¹⁵ And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah at his confinement in the courtyard of the guard, _⌊saying_⌋,*

² Now the first inhabitants who were settled on their property in their cities in Israel were the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants.

³ He built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh, and _⌊he did much restoration_⌋* on the wall of Ophel.

⁴³ The temple servants: the descendants* of Ziha, the descendants* of Hasupha, the descendants* of Tabbaoth, ⁴⁴ the descendants* of Keros, the descendants* of Siaha, the descendants* of Padon, ⁴⁵ the descendants* of Lebanah, the descendants* of Hagabah, the descendants* of Akkub, ⁴⁶ the descendants* of Hagab, the descendants* of Shamlai, the descendants* of Hanan, ⁴⁷ the descendants* of Giddel, the descendants* of Gahar, the descendants* of Reaiah, ⁴⁸ the descendants* of Rezin, the descendants* of Nekoda, the descendants* of Gazzam, ⁴⁹ the descendants* of Uzza, the descendants* of Paseah, the descendants* of Besai, ⁵⁰ the descendants* of Asnah, the descendants* of Meunim, the descendants* of Nephisim, ⁵¹ the descendants* of Bakbuk, the descendants* of Hakupha, the descendants* of Harhur, ⁵² the descendants* of Bazluth, the descendants* of Mehida, the descendants* of Harsha, ⁵³ the descendants* of Barkos, the descendants* of Sisera, the descendants* of Temah, ⁵⁴ the descendants* of Neziah, and the descendants* of Hatipha. ⁵⁵ The descendants* of Solomon's servants: the descendants* of Sotai, the descendants* of Hassophereth, the descendants* of Peruda, ⁵⁶ the descendants* of Jaalah, the descendants* of Darkon, the descendants* of Giddel, ⁵⁷ the descendants* of Shephatiah, the descendants* of Hattil, the descendants* of Pochereth-hazzebaim, and the descendants* of Ami. ⁵⁸ All the temple servants and the descendants* of Solomon's servants were three hundred and ninety-two.

⁴⁶ The temple servants: the descendants* of Ziha, the descendants* of Hasupha, the descendants* of Tabbaoth, ⁴⁷ the descendants* of Keros, the descendants* of Siaha, the descendants* of Padon, ⁴⁸ the descendants* of Lebanah, the descendants* of Hagaba, the descendants* of Shalmai, ⁴⁹ the descendants* of Hanan, the descendants* of Giddel, the descendants* of Gahar, ⁵⁰ the descendants* of Reaiah, the descendants* of Rezin, the descendants* of Nekoda, ⁵¹ the descendants* of Gazzam, the descendants* of Uzza, the descendants* of Paseah, ⁵² the descendants* of Besai, the descendants* of Meunim, the descendants* of Nephushesim, ⁵³ the descendants* of Bakbuk, the descendants* of Hakupha, the descendants* of Harhur, ⁵⁴ the descendants* of Bazlith, the descendants* of Mehida, the descendants* of Harsha, ⁵⁵ the descendants* of Barkos, the descendants* of Sisera, the descendants* of Temah, ⁵⁶ the descendants* of Neziah, the descendants* of Hatipha.

¹ All of the people gathered as one to the public square before the Water Gate. They asked Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law* of Moses that Yahweh had commanded Israel.

³ He read from it facing the public square before the Water Gate from dawn until noon that day, opposite the men, women, and those with understanding. The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.*

¹⁶ So the people went out and brought them and made booths for themselves, each on his roof, in their courtyards, in the courtyards of the house of God, in the public square of the Water Gate, and in the public square of the Gate of Ephraim.

²⁸ "The rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all who separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to observe the law* of God—their wives, their sons, their daughters, and all who know and understand—

²¹ But the temple servants were living on the Ophel; Ziha and Gishpa were over the temple servants.

⁵ _⌊Next to them_⌋* the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles did not put their neck to the work of their lord.

¹⁶ So _⌊they grabbed her_⌋* as she went by the entranceway of the horses to the palace of the king, and she was killed there.

¹⁵ And they laid hands on her, and she went into the entrance of the Horse Gate of the house of the king, and they killed her there.

⁴⁰ And the whole of the valley of the corpses, and the ashes, and all the cultivated fields up to the wadi of Kidron, up to the corner of the Gate of the Horses toward the east will be holy to Yahweh. It will not be uprooted, and it will not be overthrown again _⌊forever_⌋."*

² and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, which is at the entrance of the Gate of the Potsherd, and proclaim there the words that I speak to you.
