1 Woe is me! For I have become like the gatherings of summer, like the gleanings of the grape harvest, when there is no cluster of grapes to eat or early ripened fruit that my soul desires.
2 The faithful person has perished from the land, and there is none who is upright among humankind. All of them lie in wait; each hunts his brother with a net.
3 Their hands are upon evil, to do it well; the official and the judge ask for the bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; and they weave it together.
4 The best of them is like a brier; the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchman, your punishment, has come; now their confusion will come.
5 Do not put faith in a friend; put no trust in a close friend. Guard the doorways of your mouth from the one who lies in your lap.
6 For a son treats a father with contempt; a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; the enemies of a man are the men of his own house.
7 But as for me, I will look to Yahweh; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
8 You should not rejoice over me, O my enemy! When I fall I will stand up; when I sit in darkness Yahweh will be a light for me.
9 I will bear the rage of Yahweh, for I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes my justice. He will bring me out to the light; I will see his righteousness.
10 Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, "Where is Yahweh your God?" My eyes will look upon her; now she will become a trampling place, like mud in the streets.
11 A day for building your walls; on that day he will extend your boundary.
12 On that day he will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt to the River, and from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.
13 But the earth will be a desolation because of its inhabitants, for the fruit of their deeds.
14 Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, those dwelling alone in a forest in the midst of Carmel. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
15 As in the days when you came out from the land of Egypt I will show him wondrous things.
16 The nations will see and be ashamed because of all their might. They will lay the hand on the mouth; their ears will be deaf.
17 They will lick the dust like the serpent, like the crawling things of the earth. They will come trembling from their strongholds to Yahweh our God. Let them fear and be afraid of you.
18 Who is a God like you, forgiving sin and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, for he delights in loyal love.
19 ⌊He will again have compassion⌋* on us; he will trample our iniquities. And you will hurl all their sins in the depths of the sea.
20 You will show faithfulness to Jacob, and loyal love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our ancestors* from the days of old.

7 Samson said to her, "If you tie me up with seven fresh bowstrings that are not dried up, I will become weak like everyone else."
8 So the rulers of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh bowstrings that were not dried up, and she tied him up with them.
9 The ambush was sitting in wait for her in an inner room. And she said to him, "The Philistines are upon you Samson!" And he snapped the bowstrings just as flax fiber snaps when it comes close to fire. And the secret of his strength remained unknown.

And they shall declare my glory among the nations, 20 and bring all your countrymen* from all the nations as an offering to Yahweh on horses and chariots* and in litters and on mules and camels, to* ⌊my holy mountain⌋,* Jerusalem," says Yahweh, "just as the sons of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of Yahweh.

35 All the days of its lying desolate it shall rest for the time* that it had not rested during your Sabbaths while you were living on it.
36 As for* the ones who remain among you, I will bring* fearfulness in their hearts in the land of their enemies; and a sound of a windblown leaf shall pursue them, and they shall flee like flight ⌊before⌋* a sword, and they shall fall, but* there shall not be a pursuer.
37 And they shall stumble over ⌊one another⌋* as ⌊from before⌋* a sword, but* there shall not be a pursuer; and ⌊you shall have no resistance⌋* ⌊before⌋* your enemies.

7 Will the Lord reject us forever, and will he never be pleased with us again?
8 Has his loyal love ceased forever? Is his promise* ended throughout generations?
9 Has God forgotten to have compassion? Or has he closed off his mercies in anger? Selah

Psalms 68:22
22 The Lord said, "I will bring them back from Bashan; I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
Psalms 78:12-72
12 In front of their ancestors* he did a wonder, in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13 He split the sea and caused them to go over, and he caused waters to stand like a heap.
14 And he led them with the cloud by day, and all night with a fiery light.
15 He caused rocks to split in the wilderness and provided drink abundantly as from the depths.
16 And he brought streams out of the rock and caused water to flow down like rivers.
17 But they sinned still further against him by rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18 And they tested God in their heart by asking food ⌊for their craving⌋.*
19 And they spoke against God. They said, "Is God able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Yes, he struck the rock and water flowed and streams gushed out, but can he also give food or provide meat for his people?"
21 Therefore Yahweh heard and he was very angry, and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and his anger also rose up against Israel,
22 because they did not believe God, and they did not trust his salvation.
23 Nevertheless, he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven,
24 and rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Humankind ate the bread of ⌊angels⌋.* He sent them food enough to be satisfied.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens and drove along the south wind by his strength.
27 Then he rained meat on them like dust, even winged birds* like the sand of the seas.
28 He caused them to fall in the midst of his camp, all around his dwellings.
29 So they ate and were well filled, and he brought about what they craved.
30 They had not yet turned aside from their craving, while their food was still in their mouth,
31 the anger of God rose against them, and he killed some of the stoutest of them, even the young men of Israel he caused to bow down in death.
32 In spite of all this they sinned further and did not believe his wonders.
33 And he consumed their days with futility * their years with terror.*
34 When he killed some of them, then they sought him, and repented and earnestly sought God.
35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and God Most High their redeemer.
36 But they enticed him with their mouth and lied to him with their tongue.
37 For their heart was not steadfast with him, nor were they faithful to his covenant.
38 But he was compassionate; he pardoned* their guilt and did not destroy them. And many times he turned back his anger and did not stir up all his wrath,
39 for he remembered that they were flesh, a passing wind that does not return.
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and vexed him in the wasteland!
41 So they again tested God and distressed* the Holy One of Israel.
42 And they did not remember his ⌊power⌋* ⌊when⌋* he redeemed them from the enemy,
43 how he performed* his signs in Egypt and his wonders in the region of Zoan,
44 when he turned their rivers* to blood so they could not drink from their streams.
45 He sent among them flies that devoured them and frogs that destroyed them.
46 And he gave their crop to the locusts and their labor to the locust.*
47 He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore trees with sleet.*
48 He also handed their cattle over to the hail and their livestock to the lightning bolts.
49 He sent against them his fierce anger, rage and indignation and trouble, a band of ⌊destroying⌋* angels.
50 He cleared a path for his anger. He did not spare them* from death but handed their life over to the plague.
51 And he struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the first of their virility in the tents of Ham.
52 Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them like a herd in the wilderness.
53 And he led them safely and they were not afraid, but the sea covered their enemies.
54 So he brought them to his holy territory,* this mountain his right hand acquired.*
55 And he drove out nations before them and allocated them for an inheritance by boundary line, and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
56 But they tested and rebelled against God Most High and did not keep his statutes.
57 And they turned and were treacherous like their ancestors.* They twisted like a crooked* bow.
58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and made him jealous with their images.
59 God heard and he was very angry and rejected Israel utterly.
60 So he abandoned the dwelling place at Shiloh, the tent he had placed among humankind.
61 And he gave his strength into captivity and his splendor into the hand of the enemy.
62 He also handed his people over to the sword, and he was very angry with his inheritance.
63 Fire devoured his young men, and his young women* were not praised.
64 His priests fell by the sword, and his widows did not weep.
65 Then the Lord awoke like one who had been asleep, awoke like a warrior who had been drunk with wine.*
66 And he beat back his enemies; he gave them over to perpetual scorn.
67 And he rejected the tent of Joseph, and did not chose the tribe of Ephraim,
68 but chose the tribe of Judah, ⌊Mount Zion⌋* that he loved.
69 And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever.
70 And he chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds.
71 He brought him from following nursing ewes to shepherd Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.
72 And he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Isaiah 63:11-15
11 Then* his people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is the one who led up them from the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who puts ⌊his Holy Spirit⌋* inside him,
12 ⌊who made⌋* his magnificent arm move ⌊at⌋* the right hand of Moses, ⌊who divided⌋* the waters ⌊before them⌋,* to make an everlasting name for himself,
13 ⌊who led⌋* them through the depths? They did not stumble like a horse in the desert;
14 like cattle in the valley that goes down, the Spirit of Yahweh ⌊gave him rest⌋,* so you lead your people to make a magnificent name for yourself.
15 Look from heaven, and see from the lofty residence of your holiness and glory. Where are your zeal and strength? ⌊Your compassion⌋* and mercy to me hold themselves back.
Jeremiah 23:7-8
7 "⌊Therefore⌋* look, days are coming," ⌊declares⌋* Yahweh, "when they will no longer say, '⌊As Yahweh lives⌋,* who led up the ⌊Israelites⌋* from the land of Egypt,'
8 but '⌊As Yahweh lives⌋,* who led up, and who brought the offspring of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where he had driven them.' Then they will live in their land."

18 Flesh of warriors you will eat, and the blood of leaders of the land you will drink; rams, young rams and goats, bulls, and the fattened animals of Bashan—all of them!
19 And you will eat fat ⌊until you are satiated⌋,* and you will drink blood ⌊until you are drunk⌋* from my sacrifice that I sacrifice for you,
20 and you will be satisfied at my table with horse and horsemen and warriors and every man of war," ' ⌊declares⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

20 Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'It will happen again that nations and the inhabitants of many cities will come.

22 And many peoples and powerful* nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat ⌊the favor of⌋* Yahweh.'
