³⁵ While* he was still speaking, they came from the synagogue ruler's house* saying, "Your daughter has died. Why trouble the Teacher further?"

¹⁸ And he said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near. I am celebrating the Passover with you with my disciples." '

²² And one of the rulers of the synagogue came—Jairus by name—and when he* saw him, he fell down at his feet.

³⁹ Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the one who had died, said to him, "Lord, he is stinking already, because it has been four days."
