⁴⁹ While* he was still speaking, someone came from the synagogue ruler's house, saying, "Your daughter is dead! Trouble the Teacher no longer!"

¹² But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not put Yahweh to the test."

²³ And when* Jesus came into the ruler's house and saw the flute players and the disorderly crowd, ²⁴ he said, "Go away, because the girl is not dead, but is sleeping." And they ridiculed him. ²⁵ But when the crowd had been sent out, he entered and* took her hand, and the girl got up. ²⁶ And this report went out into that whole region.

³⁵ While* he was still speaking, they came from the synagogue ruler's house* saying, "Your daughter has died. Why trouble the Teacher further?" ³⁶ But Jesus, ignoring* _⌊what was said_⌋,* told the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid—only believe!" ³⁷ And he did not allow anyone to follow along with him except Peter and James and John, the brother of James. ³⁸ And they came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and saw a commotion, and people weeping and wailing loudly. ³⁹ And when he* entered, he said to them, "Why are you agitated and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping." ⁴⁰ And they began laughing* at him. But he sent them all out and* took along the father and mother of the child, and those who were with him, and went in to where the child was. ⁴¹ And taking hold of the child's hand, he said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which is translated, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!"), ⁴² and immediately the girl stood up and began walking around* (for she was twelve years old). And _⌊immediately they were utterly and completely astonished_⌋.* ⁴³ And he commanded them strictly that no one should learn of this, and said to give her something* to eat.

⁶ So Jesus went with them. Now by this time he was not far away from the house, and* the centurion sent friends, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy that you should come in under my roof.

⁴¹ And behold, a man _⌊who was named_⌋* Jairus came, and this man was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at the feet of Jesus and* began imploring* him to come to his house, ⁴² because _⌊he had_⌋* an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying.
Now as he was going, the crowds were pressing against him. ⁴³ And a woman who was _⌊suffering from hemorrhages_⌋* for twelve years (who, although she* had spent all her* assets on physicians, was not able to be healed by anyone)

⁷ And that one will answer from inside and* say, 'Do not cause me trouble! The door has already been shut and my children are with me in bed! I am not able to get up to give you anything.'*
