¹³ But the angel said to him,
"Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will call his name John.

¹⁰ This is my covenant which you shall keep, between me and you, and also with* your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

¹⁹ And God said, "No, but Sarah your wife shall bear a son for you, and you shall call his name Isaac. And I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant to his offspring after him.

¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for Yahweh? At the appointed time I will return to you _⌊in the spring_⌋* and Sarah shall have a son."

²¹ And Isaac prayed to Yahweh on behalf of his wife, for she was barren. And Yahweh responded to his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

²³ And Yahweh said to him, "Peace be with you. Do not fear; you will not die."

³ And an angel of Yahweh appeared to the woman, and he said to her, "Behold, you are infertile and have not borne children, but you will conceive and bear a son. ⁴ So then, be careful and do not drink wine or strong drink, and do not eat anything unclean, ⁵ because you will conceive and bear a son. No razor _⌊will touch_⌋* his head, because the boy will be a _⌊Nazirite of God_⌋* _⌊from birth_⌋.* And it is he who will begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines."

²⁰ _⌊In due time_⌋,* Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She called his name Samuel, for she said, "I requested him from Yahweh." ²¹ So the man Elkanah went up with all his household _⌊to make the annual sacrifice_⌋* to Yahweh and to pay his vow. ²² But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, "Once the boy is weaned, I will bring him, so that he may appear before Yahweh; and he will remain there forever." ²³ So her husband Elkanah said to her, "_⌊Do what seems right to you_⌋;* stay until you wean him. Only may Yahweh fulfill his word." So the woman remained and nursed her son until she weaned him.

²¹ Yahweh took note of Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters, while the young man Samuel grew up with Yahweh.

¹⁶ And he said, "At this time _⌊next spring_⌋,* you will be embracing a son." She said, "No, my lord, O man of God! You must not tell a lie to your servant!" ¹⁷ But the woman conceived, and she bore a son _⌊in the spring_⌋,* which Elisha had promised to her.

⁹ He causes the barren woman of the house to dwell as the happy mother of children. Praise Yah!*

²¹ I will give thanks to you for you have answered me, and you have become my salvation.*

³ Look, children* are the heritage* of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb is a reward. ⁴ Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children* of one's youth. ⁵ Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them.* They shall not be put to shame when they speak with enemies at the gate.

³ And I approached the prophetess, and she conceived, and she gave birth to a son. And Yahweh said to me, "Call his name Maher-Halal-Hash-Baz.

¹² And he said to me, "You must not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself _⌊before_⌋* your God, your words were heard, and I myself* have come because of your words.

⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "_⌊Name him_⌋* Jezreel;* because in a little while _⌊I will punish_⌋* the house of Jehu* for the blood* of Jezreel,* and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.*

⁶ And she conceived again and bore a daughter, and he* said to him,
"_⌊Name her_⌋* Lo-ruhamah,* for I will no longer have pity on the house of Israel or _⌊forgive them_⌋.*

⁹ And he* said, "_⌊Name him_⌋* Lo-ammi,* for you are not my people and I am not your God.* ¹⁰ * The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God."

²¹ And she will give birth to a son, and you will call his name 'Jesus,' because he will save his people from their sins."

²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Have courage, I am he! Do not be afraid!"

⁵ But the angel answered and* said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

⁶ But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He has been raised, he is not here! See the place where they laid him!

³⁰ And the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

⁶⁰ And his mother answered and* said, "No, but he will be named John." ⁶¹ And they said to her, "There is no one of your relatives who is called by this name." ⁶² So they made signs to his father asking what he wanted him to be named, ⁶³ and he asked for a writing tablet and* wrote, saying, "John is his name." And they were all astonished.

²¹ And when eight days were completed _⌊so that he could be circumcised_⌋,* he was named Jesus, his name that he was called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

³⁶ And while* they were saying these things, he himself stood there among them.* ³⁷ But they were startled and became terrified, and* thought they had seen a ghost. ³⁸ And he said to them, "Why are you frightened? And for what reason do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Look at my hands and my feet, that I am I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as _⌊you see that I have_⌋."* ⁴⁰ And when he* had said this, he showed them his* hands and his* feet.

³¹ and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your charitable deeds have been remembered before God.
