³⁰ " 'If anyone kills a person, the killer will be put to death _⌊according to the testimony_⌋* of witnesses, but someone cannot die on testimony of one person. ³¹ Also, you will not take a ransom payment for the life of a killer who is guilty of death; indeed, he must surely be put to death.

¹¹ But if someone hates* his neighbor and lies in wait for him and rises up* against him _⌊and murders him_⌋,* and the murderer flees to one of these cities, ¹² then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there, and they shall give him into the hand of the avenger of blood, and he shall be put to death.

²⁴ 'Cursed be the one who strikes down his neighbor in secret.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'
