¹⁹ And this is the judgment: that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.

⁹ For it is a people of rebellion, deceitful children, children who are not willing to hear the instruction of Yahweh, ¹⁰ who say to those who do see, "You must not see!" and to the seers, "You must not see truth for us; speak smooth things to us, see illusions, ¹¹ turn aside from the way, turn aside from the path, put an end to the holy one of Israel from our face." ¹² Therefore the holy one of Israel says this:
"Because you are rejecting this word and you trust in oppression and _⌊cunning_⌋* and you rely on it,

²⁰ Then he began to reproach the towns in which the majority of his miracles had been done, because they did not repent: ²¹ "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. ²² Nevertheless I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and for Sidon on the day of judgment than for you! ²³ And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today. ²⁴ Nevertheless I tell you that it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you!"

¹¹ "Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! Nevertheless know this: that the kingdom of God has come near!"* ¹² I tell you that it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town! ¹³ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes! ¹⁴ But it will be more bearable for Tyre and for Sidon in the judgment than for you! ¹⁵ And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No! You will be brought down to Hades! ¹⁶ The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me. But the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

⁴⁷ And that slave who knew the will of his master and did not prepare or do according to his will _⌊will be given a severe beating_⌋.*

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.

⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity.*

⁹ The true light, who gives light to every person, was coming into the world. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world did not recognize* him. ¹¹ He came to his own things, and his own people did not receive him.

⁴⁴ How are you able to believe, if you* accept glory from one another, and do not seek the glory which is from the only God?

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it, that its deeds are evil.

¹⁷ If anyone wants to do his will, he will know about my* teaching, whether it is from God or I am speaking from myself.

¹² Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father! That one was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand firm in the truth, because truth is not in him. Whenever he speaks the lie, he speaks from his own nature,* because he is a liar and the father _⌊of lies_⌋.* ⁴⁵ But because I am telling the truth, you do not believe me.

³⁹ And Jesus said,* "For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind!" ⁴⁰ Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things and said to him, "We are not also blind, are we?"* ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now you say, 'We see,' your sin remains.

²⁶ But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep! ²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than praise from God.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. But now they do not have a valid excuse for their sin. ²³ The one who hates me hates my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not have sin. But now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. ²⁵ But this happened* so that the word that is written in their law would be fulfilled, 'They hated me without a reason.'

²¹ other than concerning this one declaration that I shouted while* standing there before them: 'I am being judged before you today concerning the resurrection of the dead!'" ²² But Felix, because he* understood the facts concerning the Way more accurately, put them off, saying, "When Lysias the military tribune comes down, I will decide _⌊your case_⌋."* ²³ He ordered* the centurion for him to be guarded and to have some freedom, and in no way to prevent any of his own people* from serving him. ²⁴ And after some days, when* Felix arrived with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and listened to him concerning faith in Christ Jesus. ²⁵ And while* he was discussing about righteousness and self control and the judgment that is to come, Felix became afraid and* replied, "Go away for the present, and when I* have an opportunity, I will summon you." ²⁶ At the same time he was also hoping that money would be given to him by Paul. For this reason also he sent for him as often as possible and* talked with him.

³² who, although they* know the requirements of God, that those who do such things are worthy of death, not only do they do the same things, but also they approve of those who do them.

⁸ but to those who act from selfish ambition and who disobey the truth, but who obey unrighteousness, wrath and anger.

¹⁵ For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, ¹⁶ to those on the one hand an odor from death to death, and to those on the other hand a fragrance from life to life. And who is qualified for these things?

¹² in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

¹² Watch out, brothers, lest there be in some of you an evil, unbelieving heart, with the result that you fall away* from the living God. ¹³ But encourage one another _⌊day by day_⌋*, as long as it is called "today," so that _⌊none of you become hardened_⌋* by the deception of sin.

⁸ and
"A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,"*
who stumble because they* disobey the word to which also they were consigned.

³ above all knowing this, that in the last days scoffers will come with scoffing, following according to their own desires
