⁹ He has no greater authority in this house than me, and he has not withheld anything from me except you, since you are his wife. Now how could I do this great wickedness and sin against God?"

¹⁴ "You shall not commit adultery.

¹⁰ " 'As for* a man who commits adultery with a man's wife, who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both the man who commits adultery and the woman who commits adultery shall surely be put to death.

²² "If a man is found lying _⌊with a married woman_⌋,* then they shall both die; _⌊both of them_⌋,* the man who lay with the woman and the woman also, so you shall purge the evil from Israel. ²³ "If it happens that a young woman, a virgin, is engaged to a man, and a man finds her in the town and lies with her, ²⁴ then you shall bring out _⌊both of them_⌋* to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them with stones so that they shall die, the young woman because she did not cry out in the town, and the man because* he violated his neighbor's wife; and so you shall purge the evil from your midst.

²⁸ this also is an iniquity to be judged, for I have deceived God above.

²⁹ Thus, he who goes to the wife of his neighbor, any who touches her shall not go unpunished. ³⁰ People do not despise a thief when he steals to fill himself* when he is hungry. ³¹ But if he is found, he will pay sevenfold, every possession of his house he shall give. ³² He who commits adultery with a woman lacks _⌊sense_⌋,* he destroys himself* who does it. ³³ A wound and dishonor he will find, and his disgrace will not be wiped out.

³⁸ And I will judge you with the judgment of women committing adultery and shedding blood, and I will give you the blood of rage and jealousy.
