⁶ I have appointed watchmen upon your walls, Jerusalem; all day and all night they shall never be silent. You who profess Yahweh have no rest.

¹² Now you yourself said, 'I will surely deal well with you and make your offspring as the sand of the sea that cannot be counted for abundance.'"

²⁶ Then he* said, "Let me go, for dawn is breaking." But he answered, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

¹⁷ But now, please, let the power of my Lord be great, just has you spoke, ¹⁸ 'Yahweh is _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and great of loyal love, _⌊forgiving_⌋* sin and rebellion; but surely he leaves nothing unpunished, visiting the sin of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generations.' ¹⁹ Please forgive the sin of this people according to the greatness of your loyal love, just as you _⌊forgave_⌋* this people, from Egypt until now."

¹⁴ And in accord with the ordinance of David his father he appointed working groups of priests for their service, Levites for their responsibilities for praise and cultic service before the priests _⌊according to the daily requirement_⌋,* and the gatekeepers in their working groups, gate by gate. For thus David the man of God had commanded.

² Remember your congregation that you bought long ago, when you redeemed the tribe of your inheritance. Remember _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* where you have dwelt.

¹⁸ O Yahweh, remember this: the enemy taunts, and foolish people treat your name with contempt.

¹ A song of ascents.*
Look, bless Yahweh, all you the servants of Yahweh, who _⌊serve_⌋* in the house* of Yahweh by night. ² Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless Yahweh.

³ The sentinels who go about in the city found me. "Have you seen the one whom my _⌊heart_⌋* loves?"

⁷ The sentinels making rounds in the city found me; they beat me, they wounded me; they took my cloak* away from me— _⌊those sentinels on the walls_⌋!*

²⁶ Take me to court; let us enter into judgment together. You, _⌊make an account_⌋* so that you may be in the right.

⁸ The voices* of your watchmen! They lift up their voices;* together they sing for joy; for they _⌊clearly_⌋* see Yahweh's return to Zion.

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind, none of them know. They are all dumb dogs; they are unable to bark, panting, lying down, loving to slumber.

¹ For the sake of Zion I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not maintain a quiet attitude, until her righteousness goes out like the bright light, and her salvation burns like a torch.

¹⁷ And I raised up watchmen over you: 'Listen attentively to the sound of a horn.' But they said, 'We will not listen attentively.'

¹⁷ "Son of man,* I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me. ¹⁸ _⌊When I say_⌋* to the wicked, 'Surely you will die,' and you do not warn him and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way _⌊so that he may live_⌋,* that wicked person will die because of his guilt, and from your hand I will seek his blood. ¹⁹ And you, if you do warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness and from his wicked way, on account of his guilt he will die, and you yourself will have saved your life.* ²⁰ And _⌊when the righteous turns from his righteousness_⌋* and does injustice, and I place* a stumbling block _⌊before him_⌋,* he will die, for you did not warn him. Because of his sin he will die, and his righteousness* that he did will not be remembered, and his blood I shall seek from your hand. ²¹ And if you warn him, the righteous, not to sin, and the righteous does not sin, surely he will live, for he heeded a warning. And you will have saved your life."*

² "Son of man,* speak to _⌊your people_⌋,* and you must say to them, 'A land, if I bring over it a sword and the people of the land take a man, one from their number, and they appoint him for them as a watchman, ³ and he sees the sword coming against the land, and he blows on the horn and he warns the people, ⁴ and _⌊anyone who listens_⌋* hears the sound of the horn and _⌊he does not take warning_⌋* and the sword comes and it takes him, his blood will be on his own head. ⁵ For he heard the sound of the horn and he did not take warning; his blood will be on him. But if he took warning, he saved his life. ⁶ And as for the watchman, if he sees the sword coming and _⌊he does not blow_⌋* the horn, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and it takes _⌊their lives_⌋,* he will be taken through his guilt, but his blood from the hand of the watchman I will seek.' ⁷ "And you, son of man,* I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; if you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me. ⁸ _⌊When I say_⌋* to the wicked, 'Wicked one, you will certainly die,' and you _⌊did not speak_⌋* to warn the wicked from his way, he, the wicked, will die by his guilt, but his blood I will seek from your hand. ⁹ But, you, if you warn the wicked from his way, to turn from it, and _⌊he does not turn_⌋* from his way, he will die by his guilt, and you will have saved your life.

²² And behold, a Canaanite woman from that district came and cried out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!" ²³ But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came up and* asked him, saying, "Send her away, because she is crying out after us!" ²⁴ But he answered and* said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." ²⁵ But she came and* knelt down before him, saying, "Lord, help me!" ²⁶ And he answered and* said, "It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it* to the dogs!" ²⁷ So she said, "Yes, Lord, for even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table."

⁵ And he said to them, "Who of you will have a friend, and will go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, ⁶ because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I do not have anything to set before him.' ⁷ And that one will answer from inside and* say, 'Do not cause me trouble! The door has already been shut and my children are with me in bed! I am not able to get up to give you anything.'* ⁸ I tell you, even if he does not give him anything* after he* gets up because he is his friend, at any rate because of his impudence* he will get up and* give him whatever he needs. ⁹ And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. ¹¹ But what father from among you, if his* son will ask for a fish, instead of a fish will give him a snake? ¹² Or also, if he will ask for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹³ Therefore if you, although you* are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

¹ And he told them a parable to show that they must always pray and not be discouraged, ² saying, "There was a certain judge in a certain town who did not fear God and did not respect people. ³ And there was a widow in that town, and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Grant me justice against my adversary!' ⁴ And he was not willing for a time, but after these things he said to himself, 'Even if I do not fear God or respect people, ⁵ yet because this widow is causing trouble for me, I will grant her justice, so that she does not wear me down in the end by her* coming back!'" ⁶ And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge is saying! ⁷ And will not God surely _⌊see to it that justice is done_⌋* to his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night, and will he delay toward them? ⁸ I tell you that _⌊he will see to it that justice is done_⌋* for them soon! Nevertheless, when* the Son of Man comes, then will he find faith on earth?"

³⁹ And those who were in front rebuked him, that he should be silent, but he cried out _⌊even more loudly_⌋,* "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

⁴ And he stared at him and became terrified and* said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your charitable deeds have gone up for a memorial offering before God.

³¹ and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your charitable deeds have been remembered before God.

²⁸ and whom God has appointed in the church: first, apostles, second, prophets, third, teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, kinds of tongues.

¹¹ And he himself gave some as apostles and some as prophets and some as evangelists and some as pastors and teachers ¹² for the equipping of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

¹⁷ pray constantly,

¹⁷ Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with groaning, for this would be unprofitable for you.

⁶ And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, like crystal, and in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. ⁷ And the first living creature was similar to a lion, and the second living creature was similar to an ox, and the third living creature had a face like a man's, and the fourth living creature was similar to an eagle flying. ⁸ And the four living creatures, _⌊each one_⌋* of them, had six wings apiece, full of eyes around and inside, and they do not have rest day and night, saying,
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God All-Powerful,* the one who was and the one who is and the one who is coming!"

¹⁰ and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "_⌊How long_⌋*, holy and true Lord, will you not judge and avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?"
