⁹ saying to the _⌊prisoners_⌋,* "Come out!" to those who are in darkness, "Show yourselves!" they shall feed _⌊along_⌋* the ways, and their pasturage shall be on all the barren heights.

¹³ And he set him on the high places of the land, and he fed him the crops* of the field, and he nursed him with honey from crags,* and with oil from flinty rock,

²⁶ The afflicted will eat and will be satisfied. Those who seek him will praise Yahweh. May your* heart live forever.

¹ A psalm of David.*
Yahweh is my shepherd; I will not lack for anything. ² In grassy pastures he makes me lie down; by quiet waters he leads me.

³³ because Yahweh hears the needy and does not despise his own who are prisoners.

²⁰ to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to liberate _⌊those destined to die_⌋,*

¹⁰ Those who sat in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron— ¹¹ because they rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High, ¹² he therefore humbled their heart with trouble. They stumbled and there was no helper. ¹³ Then they called to Yahweh for help in their trouble; he saved them from their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and gloom, and tore off their bonds. ¹⁵ Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind, ¹⁶ for he shatters the doors of bronze, and cuts through the bars of iron.

⁷ who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food for the hungry. Yahweh sets prisoners free;

¹⁷ And then the lambs will graze as in their pasture, and _⌊fatlings, kids* will eat among the sites of ruins._⌋*

² The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; light has shined on those who lived in a land of darkness.

¹⁸ I will open rivers on the barren heights and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness like a pool of water and the land of dryness like springs of water.

⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoner out from the dungeon, those who sit in darkness from the house of imprisonment.

¹⁶ And I will lead the blind by a road they do not know; I will cause them to tread on paths they have not known. I will make darkness _⌊in their presence_⌋* into light and rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not forsake them.

¹ "Ho! Everyone thirsty, come to the waters! And whoever has no money, come, buy and eat, and come, buy without money, wine and milk without price! ² Why do you weigh out money for what is not food, and your labor for _⌊what cannot satisfy_⌋?* Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and let your soul take pleasure in _⌊rich_⌋* food.

¹ "Arise, shine! For your light has come, and the glory of Yahweh has risen on you. ² For look! darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples, but* Yahweh will rise on you, and his glory will appear over you.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up _⌊the brokenhearted_⌋,* to _⌊proclaim_⌋* release to the captives and liberation to those who are bound,

¹³ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! My servants shall eat but* you, you shall be hungry. Look! My servants shall drink but* you, you shall be thirsty. Look! My servants shall rejoice but* you, you shall be ashamed.

¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their soil, and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all of the settlements of the land. ¹⁴ I will feed them in good pasture, and their pasture will be on the mountains of the heights of Israel; there they will lie down in good pasture, and on lush pasture they will feed on the mountains of Israel. ¹⁵ _⌊I myself_⌋* will feed my flock and _⌊I myself_⌋* will allow them to lie down," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

²³ And I will set up over them one shepherd, and he will feed them; that is, my servant David. He will feed them, and he will be for them as* a shepherd.

²⁹ And I will raise for them a garden plot* of renown, and they will _⌊no longer_⌋* be victims of famine in the land, and they will not bear any more the insult of the nations.

¹⁸ And it will happen on that day; the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk, and all the channels of Judah will flow with water. A spring from the house of Yahweh will come forth, and it will water the valley of Acacia Trees.*

¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I will release your prisoners from _⌊the waterless pit_⌋.* ¹² Return to the fortress, O prisoners of hope; today I am declaring that I will repay you double.

⁷⁹ to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace."

¹⁸ "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed,

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves! ⁵⁴ The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ⁵⁶ The one who eats* my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me and I in him. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so also the one who eats* me—that one will live because of me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down from heaven, not as the fathers ate and died. The one who eats* this bread will live _⌊forever_⌋."*

¹² Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

⁹ I am the door. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will come in and will go out and will find pasture.

¹⁸ to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

⁴ among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they would not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus* as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for the sake of Jesus. ⁶ For God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness,"* is the one who has shined in our hearts for the enlightenment of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.*

⁸ for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live like children of light

¹⁴ for everything made visible is light. Therefore it says,
Wake up, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.*

¹³ who has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us* to the kingdom of the Son _⌊he loves_⌋*,

⁵ for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. ⁶ So then, we must not sleep like the rest, but must be on the alert and be self-controlled.

⁹ But you are a chosen race,* a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's possession, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,
