⁷ Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
"Today, if you hear his voice,

² "The spirit of Yahweh speaks through me, and his word is upon my tongue.

¹¹ But my people did not listen to my voice, and Israel did not yield to me.

¹³ Oh that my people would listen to me; that Israel would walk in my ways.

⁷ For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. _⌊Today_⌋* if you will hear his voice:* ⁸ "Do not harden your heart as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness, ⁹ when your ancestors* tried me. They put me to the test, even though they had seen my work. ¹⁰ For forty years I loathed that generation, and said, 'They are a people whose heart wanders. And my ways they do not know.' ¹¹ Therefore I swore in my anger, 'They shall surely not enter into my rest.'"

¹ Do not boast _⌊about tomorrow_⌋,* for you do not know what the day will bring.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do—do it with all your might; for in Sheol—where you are going—no one works, plans, knows, or thinks about anything.

³ Extend your ear, and come to me! Listen so that* your soul may live, and I will _⌊make_⌋* an everlasting covenant with* you, the enduring proofs of _⌊the mercies shown to_⌋* David.

⁶ Seek Yahweh _⌊while he lets himself be found_⌋;* call him _⌊while he is_⌋* near.

⁵ While* he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!"

⁴³ He said to them, "How then does David, by the Spirit, call him 'Lord,' saying,

³⁶ David himself said by the Holy Spirit,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet." '*

²⁵ "Truly, truly I say to you, that an hour is coming—and now is here—when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and the ones who hear will live.

³ For this one the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

¹⁶ And I have other sheep which are not from this fold. I must bring these also, and they will hear my voice, and they will become one flock—one shepherd.

²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

¹ Now because we* are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain. ² For he says,
"At the acceptable time I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you."*
Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation!

¹³ But encourage one another _⌊day by day_⌋*, as long as it is called "today," so that _⌊none of you become hardened_⌋* by the deception of sin.

¹⁵ _⌊while it is said_⌋*,
"Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."*

⁷ again he ordains a certain day, today, speaking by David after so long a time, just as had been said before,
"Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."*

⁸ The Holy Spirit was making this clear, that the way into the holy place was not yet revealed, while* the first tent was still in existence,

¹³ Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there, and carry on business and make a profit," ¹⁴ you who do not know _⌊what will happen tomorrow_⌋*, _⌊what your life will be like_⌋*. For you are a smoky vapor that appears for a short time and then disappears. ¹⁵ Instead you should say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that."

²¹ for no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, indeed I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.
