²⁸ All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, each according to their blessing.

²² And while Israel was living in that land Reuben went and had sexual relations with Bilhah, his father's concubine. And Israel heard about it.

²¹ The stones will be according to the names of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* twelve according to their names, with seal engravings, each according to its name they will be for the twelve tribes.

²⁴ Look! the people will rise like the lion; he raises himself and will not lie down until he eats the prey and drinks the blood of the slain."

³¹ Elijah took twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of God came, saying, "Israel shall be your name."

⁷ And King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Look, I have given Haman's house to Esther, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he _⌊plotted against_⌋* the Jews.

⁹ And the secretaries of the king were summoned* at that time, in the third month, which is in the month of Sivan on the twenty-third day, and an edict was written according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews and to the governors and satraps and officials of the provinces from India to Cush*—one hundred and twenty-seven provinces*—each province according to its own script and to every people in their own _⌊language_⌋,* and to the Jews in their own script and language.

¹¹ In them the king allowed the Jews who were in every city to assemble and _⌊defend their lives_⌋,* to destroy and kill and annihilate any army of any people or province attacking them, including women and children, and to plunder their spoil,

¹ In the twelfth month, that is the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day, on which the edict of the king arrived and his law was enacted, on the day in which the enemies of the Jews had hoped to gain power over them but was overturned, and the Jews gained power against their enemies, ² the Jews gathered in their cities in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus _⌊to strike against_⌋* those who sought their destruction, and no one could withstand them,* as the fear of them fell on all the people. ³ All the officials of the provinces, the satraps, governors, and _⌊those who did the work of the king_⌋* were supporting the Jews, because the fear of Mordecai had fallen on them. ⁴ For Mordecai was high-ranking in the _⌊king's palace_⌋* and his fame spread throughout all the provinces as _⌊Mordecai grew more and more powerful_⌋.* ⁵ The Jews struck down all their enemies with _⌊the sword_⌋,* killing and destroying them; and they did as they pleased with those that hated them. ⁶ And in the citadel of Susa the Jews killed and destroyed five hundred men, ⁷ and Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha, ⁸ Portha, Adalia, Aridatha, ⁹ Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vaizatha, ¹⁰ the ten sons of Haman, the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews; but they did not _⌊touch_⌋* the plunder.

⁸ Look! it is coming, and it will happen," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. "It is the day _⌊about which I have spoken_⌋.* ⁹ "ʻ"And the inhabitants of the towns* of Israel will go out, and they will set ablaze, and they will kindle a fire with a weapon* and a small shield and a shield,* with a bow and with arrows, and with _⌊hand clubs_⌋* and with spears,* and so they will light a fire with them, _⌊a fire lasting seven years_⌋.* ¹⁰ And they will not carry trees from the field, and they will not chop wood from the forests, for with the weapons* they will light a fire; and they will plunder those plundering them, and they will plunder those plundering them," ' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

¹ Look! A day is coming for Yahweh, when your plunder will be divided in your midst. ² I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, and they will loot the houses, and the women will be raped; half of the city will go into exile, but the remainder of the people will not be cut off from the city. ³ Then Yahweh will go forth and fight against those nations, like _⌊when he fights_⌋* on a day of battle. ⁴ On that day his feet will stand on _⌊the Mount of Olives_⌋,* which faces Jerusalem on the east; and _⌊the Mount of Olives_⌋* will be split _⌊in half_⌋,* from east to west, by a very great valley; and half of the mountain will withdraw toward the north, and the other half toward the south. ⁵ And you will flee by the valley of my mountains, because the valley of the mountains will reach to Azal, and you will flee like you fled from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. And Yahweh my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.* ⁶ _⌊And then_⌋* on that day there will not be light,* the precious things will congeal.* ⁷ There shall be continuous day—it is known to Yahweh—not day and not night; and at evening time there will be light.

⁷ to which our twelve tribes hope to attain as they earnestly serve him* night and day. Concerning this hope I am being accused by the Jews, O king!
