¹⁴ Then* Yahweh God said to the serpent,
"Because you have done this, you will be cursed more than any domesticated animal and more than any wild animal.* On your belly you shall go and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.

¹ Now the serpent was more crafty than any other _⌊wild animal_⌋* which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God indeed say, 'You shall not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

⁶ "As for the one shedding the blood of humankind, by humankind his blood shall be shed, for God made humankind in his own image.

²⁸ " 'And if an ox gores a man or a woman and he dies, the ox will surely be stoned, and its meat will not be eaten, and the owner of the ox is innocent. ²⁹ But if it was a goring ox _⌊before_⌋* and its owner was warned and did not restrain it and it kills a man or a woman, the ox will be stoned, and the owner also will be put to death. ³⁰ If a ransom is set on him, he will pay the redemption money for his life according to all that is set on him. ³¹ If it gores a son or it gores a daughter, according to this regulation it shall be done to him. ³² If the ox gores a male slave or a female slave, he will give thirty shekels of silver to his master, and the ox will be stoned.

²⁵ And you shall distinguish between the clean and the unclean animal and between the unclean and the clean bird; and you shall not defile yourselves with the animal or* with the bird or* with anything that moves along the ground that I have set apart for you _⌊as unclean_⌋.*

¹⁵ "_⌊And then_⌋* if you do not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God _⌊by diligently observing_⌋* all of his commandments and his statutes that I am commanding you _⌊today_⌋,* then all of these curses shall come upon you, and they shall overtake you: ¹⁶ "You shall* be cursed in the city, and you shall be cursed in the field. ¹⁷ "Your basket shall be cursed and your kneading trough. ¹⁸ "The fruit of your womb shall be cursed and the fruit of you ground, the calves of your cattle and the lambs of your flock. ¹⁹ "You shall be cursed _⌊when you come in_⌋,* and you shall be cursed _⌊when you go out_⌋.* ²⁰ "Yahweh will send upon you* the curse,* the panic,* and the threat* _⌊in everything that you undertake_⌋,* _⌊until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly_⌋* _⌊because of_⌋* the evil of your deeds in that* you have forsaken me.

⁹ Let the desert dwellers bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust.

⁴ Then* you shall be low; you shall speak from the earth, and your words* will be low, from dust. And your voice will be from the earth, like a ghost, and your word will whisper from the dust.

²⁵ The wolf and the lamb shall feed like one, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox, but* dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall do no evil, and they shall not destroy on all _⌊my holy mountain_⌋,"* says Yahweh.

¹⁷ They will lick the dust like the serpent, like the crawling things of the earth. They will come trembling from their strongholds to Yahweh our God. Let them fear and be afraid of you.
