And look, there were twenty-five men in the doorway of the gate, and I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur in the midst of them, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, the commanders of the people. ² And he said to me, "Son of man,* these are the men _⌊who devise mischief_⌋,* and who are offering bad counsel in this city, ³ who are saying, "The building of houses is not near; the city is the pot, and we are the flesh. ⁴ Therefore prophesy against them! Prophesy, son of man!"* ⁵ And the Spirit of Yahweh fell on me, and he said to me, "Say, 'thus says Yahweh: "This is what you think, house of Israel, and I myself know them,* the thoughts of your spirit. ⁶ You made your slain ones numerous in this city, and you have filled its streets with slain ones." '* ⁷ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Your slain ones whom you put in its midst, they are the flesh, and it is the pot, and I* will bring you out from its midst. ⁸ The sword you have feared, and the sword I will bring against you!" _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ⁹ "And I will bring you out from its midst, and I will give you into the hand of strangers, and I will execute judgments against you. ¹⁰ By the sword you will fall at the border of Israel; I will judge you, and you will know that I am Yahweh. ¹¹ It will not be as a pot to you, and so you would be* in the midst of it as flesh, for at the border of Israel I will judge you. ¹² And you will know that I am Yahweh, whose* rules you did not follow, and whose* regulations you did not do, but according to the regulations of the nations that are around you, you acted." '* ¹³ And it happened that _⌊as I was prophesying_⌋,* Pelatiahu the son of Benaiahu died! And I fell on my face, and I cried with a loud voice, and I said, "Ah, Lord Yahweh, you are making a complete destruction of the remnant of Israel!" ¹⁴ And the word of Yahweh _⌊came_⌋* to me, _⌊saying_⌋,* ¹⁵ "Son of man,* your brothers, your brothers, the men of your redemption, and all of the house of Israel, all of it, _⌊who said concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem_⌋,* 'They are far from Yahweh, therefore to us this land was given as a possession.' ¹⁶ Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Though I have removed them far away among the nations and though I have scattered them among the countries, yet I was a sanctuary to them for a little while in the countries _⌊to which they have gone_⌋.'"* ¹⁷ Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "And I will assemble you from the peoples, and I will gather you from the countries to which you were scattered among them, and I will give the land of Israel to you. ¹⁸ And when they come there, then they will remove all of its vile idols and all of its detestable things from it. ¹⁹ And I will give to them one heart, and a new spirit I will give* in their inner parts. And I will remove their* heart of stone from their body, and I will give to them a heart of flesh, ²⁰ so that they may walk in my statutes, and they will keep my regulations, and they will do them, and they will be to me a people, and I myself will be to them as God. ²¹ But to* the heart of their abominations and the detestable things their heart is going. I will bring their way on their head," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.'" ²² Then* the cherubim lifted up their wings, and their* wheels were beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel _⌊was over them_⌋.* ²³ And the glory of Yahweh went up from the midst of the city, and it stood still on the mountain that is to the east of the city. ²⁴ And the Spirit lifted me up, and it brought me to Chaldea, to the exiles,* in the vision by the spirit of God; and the vision that I had seen _⌊left me_⌋.* ²⁵ And I spoke to the exiles* all of the words of Yahweh that he had shown me.

¹² And it will happen that I will go from you and the Spirit of Yahweh will carry you up to where I do not know. Then I will come to tell Ahab, but he will not find you, and then he will kill me, even though your servant has feared Yahweh from my youth.

¹⁶ Then they said to him, "Look, there are with your servants fifty able men. Please let them go and look for your master, lest the Spirit of Yahweh has lifted him up and thrown him on one of the mountains or into one of the valleys," but he said, "You must not send them."

²³ When all of the commanders of the troops heard, they and the men, that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah, they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan the son of Kareah, Seriah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Yahweh, rulers of Sodom! Listen to the teaching of our God, people of Gomorrah!

²³ Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Every one loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not defend the orphan and the legal dispute of the widow does not come before them.

¹² And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great earthquake when the glory of Yahweh rose from its place.

¹⁴ And the Spirit lifted me and took me, and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Yahweh was strong on me.

³ And he sent out the form of a hand, and he took me by a lock of hair of my head, and the Spirit lifted me between earth and heaven, and it brought me to Jerusalem in visions of God to the doorway of the inner gate _⌊that faced north_⌋,* at which there was the seat of the image of jealousy, which was making jealous.

¹⁶ And he brought me to the inner courtyard of the house of Yahweh, and look, at the doorway of the temple of Yahweh, between the portico and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of Yahweh and their faces toward the east, and they were bowing down toward the east before the sun.

¹⁹ And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and they rose from the earth before my eyes. At their going out, the wheels were* beside them. And he stood at the doorway of the eastern gate of the temple* of Yahweh, and the glory of the God of Israel _⌊was over them_⌋.*

¹³ And it happened that _⌊as I was prophesying_⌋,* Pelatiahu the son of Benaiahu died! And I fell on my face, and I cried with a loud voice, and I said, "Ah, Lord Yahweh, you are making a complete destruction of the remnant of Israel!"

²⁴ And the Spirit lifted me up, and it brought me to Chaldea, to the exiles,* in the vision by the spirit of God; and the vision that I had seen _⌊left me_⌋.*

²⁷ Its officials are like wolves tearing prey in its midst, to pour out blood, to destroy people, to make dishonest gain.

¹ The hand of Yahweh was upon me, and he brought me by the Spirit of Yahweh, and he _⌊let me rest_⌋* in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones.

¹ In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was destroyed, in this day exactly, the hand of Yahweh was on me, and he brought me there ² in visions from God. He brought me to the land of Israel and put me on a very high mountain, and on it was something like a structure of a city to the south.

¹ And he brought me to the temple sanctuary,* and he measured the pilasters, _⌊six cubits* wide on each side_⌋;* this was the width of the tent.*

⁴ And then the glory of Yahweh came to the temple _⌊by the way of the gate facing east_⌋.* ⁵ And the Spirit lifted me and it brought me to the inner courtyard and, look! The glory of Yahweh filled the temple!

¹⁰ The princes of Judah have become like those who remove a landmark; on them I will pour out my wrath like water.

³⁹ And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him any longer, for he went on his way rejoicing.

¹ It is necessary to boast; it is not profitable, but I will proceed to visions and revelations of the Lord. ² I know a man in Christ fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or outside the body I do not know, God knows—such a man was caught up to the third heaven, ³ and I know this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows— ⁴ that he was caught up to paradise and heard words not to be spoken, which it is not permitted for a person to speak.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a great sound like a trumpet

³ And Esther again spoke before the king, and she fell before his feet and wept, pleading for his grace to avert Haman the Agagite's evil plan and the plot that he devised against the Jews.

¹ Why are nations in tumult, and countries plotting* in vain?* ² The kings of the earth establish themselves, and the rulers conspire* together against Yahweh and his anointed:

⁴ He plans sin on his bed. He puts himself on a way that is not good. He does not reject evil.

² Your tongue plans destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceit.

¹ "Oh rebellious children!" _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh,
"to make a plan, but* not from me, and pour out a libation, but* not from my Spirit, _⌊so as to add_⌋* sin to sin.

⁴ There is nobody _⌊who pleads with_⌋* justice, and there is nobody who judges with honesty. They rely on nothing and speak vanity. They conceive trouble and beget iniquity;

⁵ Let me go to the great, and let me speak with them, for they know the way of Yahweh, the law* of their God." However, they together have broken the yoke, they have torn to pieces the bonds.

¹⁸ Then they said, "Come and let us plan plans against Jeremiah, for instruction will not be lost from the priest, nor advice from the wise man, nor the word from the prophet. Come and _⌊let us bring charges against him_⌋,* and let us not listen attentively to any of his words."

¹ Woe to those who plan wickedness and evil deeds upon their beds! In the light of the morning they did it, because they have power in their hands. ² They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and they take them away. They oppress a man and his house; a man and his inheritance.

¹⁹ those who say, "Let him make haste; let him hurry his work so that we may see it and let it draw near and let the plan of the holy one of Israel come so that we may know it!"

¹¹ And the word of Yahweh came to me, _⌊saying_⌋,* "What are you seeing, Jeremiah?" And I said, "I am seeing a branch of an almond tree." ¹² Then Yahweh said to me, "You did well to see, for I am watching over my word to perform it." ¹³ And the word of Yahweh came to me a second time, _⌊saying_⌋,* "What are you seeing?" And I said, "I am seeing a _⌊boiling_⌋* pot, and its face is from the face of the north."

⁷ Doom is coming against you, the dweller* of the land; the time comes, the day is near, panic and not joy is on the mountains.

⁷ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Your slain ones whom you put in its midst, they are the flesh, and it is the pot, and I* will bring you out from its midst. ⁸ The sword you have feared, and the sword I will bring against you!" _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ⁹ "And I will bring you out from its midst, and I will give you into the hand of strangers, and I will execute judgments against you. ¹⁰ By the sword you will fall at the border of Israel; I will judge you, and you will know that I am Yahweh. ¹¹ It will not be as a pot to you, and so you would be* in the midst of it as flesh, for at the border of Israel I will judge you.

²² "Son of man,* what is this proverb _⌊you people have_⌋* about the land of Israel, _⌊saying_⌋,* '_⌊The days are prolonged_⌋,* and every vision has come to nothing.'

²⁷ "Son of man,* look! The house of Israel is saying, 'The vision that he is seeing is for many days from now, and for distant times he is prophesying.'

³ And _⌊deliver a proverb_⌋* to _⌊the rebellious house_⌋,* and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Place the pot! Place it and also pour water into it. ⁴ Gather its pieces to it, every good piece, thigh and shoulder, fill it with choice bones; ⁵ take the choicest of the flock, and also pile the bones* under it; _⌊boil it vigorously_⌋;* indeed,* its bones boiled in the midst of it." '" ⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Woe to the city of bloodguilt! A pot that has its rust in it; _⌊its rust did not go out from it_⌋.* Bring it out _⌊piece by piece_⌋;* _⌊one is as good as another_⌋.* ⁷ For her blood was in the midst of her; _⌊she put it on a bare rock_⌋;* she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.* ⁸ To stir up rage, to avenge myself through vengeance, I placed its blood on the barrenness of a rock, _⌊so that it may not be covered_⌋."* ⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Woe to the city of bloodguilt! I, even I, will make the pile of wood great! ¹⁰ Pile up the logs; kindle the fire; finish cooking the meat, and mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned.* ¹¹ And _⌊make it stand_⌋* empty upon its burning coals so that it may become hot, and its copper may become molten and be melted in the midst of it,* so that its uncleanness and its rust be consumed. ¹² Through effort she has caused weariness; _⌊its thick rust_⌋* went not out of it. Its rust! Into the fire with its rust! ¹³ In your uncleanness is obscene conduct, because I cleansed you, but you were not clean from your uncleanness; you will not be clean again until _⌊I fully vent my rage_⌋* on you. ¹⁴ I, Yahweh, I have spoken. It is coming, and I did it; I will not disregard, and I will not take pity, and I will not reconsider. According to your ways and according to your deeds they will judge you!"* _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

⁵ Alas for those who sing to the tune of the harp; like David they improvise on instruments of music.

⁴ and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For _⌊ever since_⌋* the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued just as they have been from the beginning of creation."

¹ "Call with the throat; you must not keep back! lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare* to my people their rebellion, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

² And I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat, ³ and he said to me, "Son of man,* you must give your stomach this to eat, and you must fill your belly with this scroll that I am giving to you." And I ate, and it became _⌊like sweet honey_⌋* in my mouth. ⁴ And he said to me, "Son of man,* come! Go to the house of Israel, and you must speak to them with my words. ⁵ For you are sent to the house of Israel, not to a people _⌊of obscure speech_⌋* and _⌊of a difficult language_⌋,* ⁶ and not to many nations _⌊of obscure speech_⌋* and _⌊a difficult language_⌋* _⌊whose words_⌋* you do not understand, for if I had sent you to them they would have listened to you. ⁷ And the house of Israel, they are not willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me, for all of the house of Israel is hard of forehead, and they are hard of heart. ⁸ But look, I have made* your face hard _⌊against_⌋* their faces and your forehead hard _⌊against_⌋* their forehead. ⁹ Like a diamond _⌊harder than flint_⌋* I have made your forehead; you must not fear them, and you must not be dismayed _⌊on account of them_⌋,* for they _⌊are a rebellious house_⌋.* ¹⁰ And he said to me, "Son of man,* all of my words that I shall speak to you, receive into* your heart and hear with your ears. ¹¹ And come, go to the exiles,* to the children* of your people, and you must speak to them, and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh!' whether they listen or whether they fail to listen." ¹² And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great earthquake when the glory of Yahweh rose from its place. ¹³ And it was the sound of the wings of the living creatures touching lightly* _⌊one against the other_⌋,* and the sound of the wheels beside them and the sound of a great earthquake. ¹⁴ And the Spirit lifted me and took me, and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Yahweh was strong on me. ¹⁵ And I went to the exiles* at Tel Abib, who were dwelling near the _⌊Kebar River_⌋,* and I sat where they were dwelling. I sat there seven days in the midst of them, stunned.

¹⁷ "Son of man,* I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me. ¹⁸ _⌊When I say_⌋* to the wicked, 'Surely you will die,' and you do not warn him and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way _⌊so that he may live_⌋,* that wicked person will die because of his guilt, and from your hand I will seek his blood. ¹⁹ And you, if you do warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness and from his wicked way, on account of his guilt he will die, and you yourself will have saved your life.* ²⁰ And _⌊when the righteous turns from his righteousness_⌋* and does injustice, and I place* a stumbling block _⌊before him_⌋,* he will die, for you did not warn him. Because of his sin he will die, and his righteousness* that he did will not be remembered, and his blood I shall seek from your hand. ²¹ And if you warn him, the righteous, not to sin, and the righteous does not sin, surely he will live, for he heeded a warning. And you will have saved your life."*

⁴⁶ "Son of man,* set your face toward the way of the south,* and preach to the south, and prophesy against the forest of the territory of the Negev. ⁴⁷ And you must say to the forest of the Negev, 'Hear the word of Yahweh, thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I am kindling against you a fire, and it will devour in you every fresh tree and every dry tree; the blaze of the flame will not be quenched, and all the surfaces from the south to the north will be scorched by it.

² "Son of man,* set your face toward Jerusalem, and preach to the sanctuaries, and prophesy to the land of Israel.

² "Son of man,* set your face toward the _⌊Ammonites_⌋* and prophesy against them,

⁵ Therefore, I have hewn them by the prophets; I have killed them by the words of my mouth, and my judgment* goes forth like the light.

¹ Put to your lips the trumpet like a vulture over the house of Yahweh, because they have _⌊broken my covenant_⌋* and rebelled against my law.

²⁵ Then Yahweh went down in the cloud and spoke to him, and he took away the spirit that was on him, and he _⌊put it_⌋* on the seventy elders. And as soon as the spirit was resting on them they prophesied, but they did not do it again. ²⁶ But two men were left in the camp; the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the second was Medad, and the spirit rested on them; they were among those who were written down, but they did not go out to the tent, so they prophesied in the camp.

⁶ Then the Spirit of Yahweh will rush upon you,* and you will prophesy with them; and you will turn into _⌊a different person_⌋.*

¹⁰ When they went from there to Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God rushed upon him,* and he prophesied among them.

⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for Yahweh searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

⁹ Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous, and test the hearts and innermost being, O righteous God.

²¹ These things you have done, and I have been silent; You imagined that I was just like you. I will rebuke you and present an argument before your eyes.

² You know my sitting down and my rising up. You understand my thought from afar. ³ You search out* my wandering and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

¹⁵ Because you have said,
"We have _⌊made_⌋* a covenant with death, and we have made an agreement with Sheol.
The overwhelming flood, when it passes through, will not come to us,
for we have made lies* our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves in falsehood."

¹⁷ For my eyes are on all their ways, they are not hidden _⌊from before me_⌋,* and their iniquity is not concealed from before my eyes.

¹⁰ I, Yahweh, examine the _⌊mind_⌋,* I test the _⌊heart_⌋,* and give to each one according to his way, according to the fruit of his deeds.

² And the Spirit* came into me as he was speaking to me, and it set me on my feet, and I heard the one speaking to me.

⁴ And the children* are _⌊impudent_⌋* and _⌊stubborn_⌋,* and so I am sending you to them, and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh!' ⁵ And they, whether they listen or whether they fail to listen, for they are a rebellious house, they will know that a prophet was in their midst.

⁷ And you must speak my words to them whether they listen or whether they fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

¹¹ And come, go to the exiles,* to the children* of your people, and you must speak to them, and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh!' whether they listen or whether they fail to listen."

²⁴ And the Spirit* came into me, and it made me stand on my feet, and he spoke with me and said to me, "Come, shut yourself _⌊inside your house_⌋,*

²⁷ And when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "The one hearing him, let him hear, and the one failing to hear, let him fail," ' for they _⌊are a rebellious house_⌋.*

¹ _⌊And then_⌋* in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting _⌊before me_⌋.* And the hand of the Lord Yahweh fell on me there,

² "Son of man,* say to the leader of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Because your heart was haughty, and you said, 'I am a god; I sit in the seat of the gods, I sit in the heart of the seas!' But* you are a human, not a god, and you gave your heart to be like the heart of a god.

³ Speak, and you must say, 'thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! I am against you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, the great sea monster, the one lying down in the midst of his Nile streams, who says to me, "It is my Nile, and I made it for myself."*

¹⁰ " 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "_⌊And then_⌋* on that day, things* will come up on* your mind, and you will devise evil plans. ¹¹ And you will say, 'I will go up against a land of open country; I will come* to the people being at rest _⌊in safety_⌋,* all of them dwelling without a wall* and crossbars* and _⌊without doors_⌋,*

¹³ "Your words have been harsh* against me," says Yahweh. "But you say, 'How have we spoken together against you?' ¹⁴ You have said, 'It is useless* to serve God! What is the gain if we keep* his requirements, and if we walk as mourners _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh of hosts?

⁸ And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they were reasoning like this within themselves, said to them, "Why are you considering these things in your hearts?

²² And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul!" and "By the ruler of the demons he expels the demons!" ²³ And he called them to himself and* was speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan expel Satan? ²⁴ And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom is not able to stand. ²⁵ And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. ²⁶ And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand, but is at an end! ²⁷ But no one is able to enter into the house of a strong man and* plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man, and then he can thoroughly plunder his house. ²⁸ "Truly I say to you that all the sins and the blasphemies will be forgiven the sons of men, however much they blaspheme. ²⁹ But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit does not have forgiveness _⌊forever_⌋,* but is guilty of an eternal sin"— ³⁰ because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."

²⁴ But Jesus himself did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people,* ²⁵ and because he did not _⌊need_⌋* anyone _⌊to testify_⌋* about man, for he himself knew what was in man.*

¹⁷ He said to him a third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed because he said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything! You know that I love you!" Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep!

⁴⁴ While* Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who were listening to the message.

¹⁵ And as I was beginning to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as also on us at the beginning.

¹³ And no creature is hidden in the sight of him, but all things are naked and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom _⌊we must give our account_⌋*.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire! The world of unrighteousness,* the tongue, is set among our members, defiling the whole body and setting on fire _⌊the course of human existence_⌋*, being set on fire by hell.

²³ And I will kill her children with deadly disease, and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

¹⁶ Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood until he filled Jerusalem _⌊from one end to another_⌋,* apart from his sin which he caused Judah to sin by doing evil in the eyes of Yahweh.

¹⁵ And when you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers,* I will not be listening. Your hands are full of blood.

³⁰ "For _⌊in vain_⌋* I have struck your children. They accepted no discipline. Your sword devoured your prophets, like a ravening* lion.

³⁴ Also on your skirts is found the blood of the life of the innocent, the poor. You did not find them in the act of breaking into a house. But in spite of all these things,

⁶ you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, you do not shed innocent blood in this place, and you do not go after other gods _⌊to your harm_⌋,*

⁹ Will you steal? Will you murder? And will you commit adultery? And will you swear _⌊falsely_⌋?* And will you make a smoke offering to the Baal? And will you go after other gods whom you have not known?

¹³ Because of the sins of her prophets, the guilt of her priests, who shed blood in her midst, of righteous people.

²³ Make a chain for the land; it is full of _⌊bloody crimes_⌋* and the city is full of violence.

⁹ And he said to me, "The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is _⌊exceedingly_⌋* great, and the land is filled with bloodguilt, and the city is full of injustice. For they say Yahweh abandoned the land, and _⌊Yahweh does not see_⌋.*

² "And you, son of man,* will you judge? Will you judge the _⌊bloody city_⌋?* Then you must make known to her all of her detestable things! ³ And you must say, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "A city pouring out blood in the midst of her; _⌊its time has come_⌋,* and it made idols for itself, becoming unclean. ⁴ By your blood that you poured out you have become guilty, and by your idols that you made you have become unclean, and you have brought your days near, _⌊and your appointed years have come_⌋.* Therefore I have made you a disgrace for the nations and a laughingstock to all of the countries. ⁵ The people near and the people far from you will make fun of you, _⌊the unclean and the terrified_⌋.* ⁶ Look! The princes of Israel, each one according to his strength,* they are in you _⌊for the shedding of blood_⌋.*

⁹ Slanderous men are _⌊among you_⌋* to shed blood, and they, _⌊among you_⌋,* eat upon the mountains; they do wickedness in the midst of you.

¹² They take a bribe among* you in order to shed blood; and you take usury, and you make gain from your neighbors by extortion, and so you have forgotten me, _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Woe to the city of bloodguilt! A pot that has its rust in it; _⌊its rust did not go out from it_⌋.* Bring it out _⌊piece by piece_⌋;* _⌊one is as good as another_⌋.* ⁷ For her blood was in the midst of her; _⌊she put it on a bare rock_⌋;* she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.* ⁸ To stir up rage, to avenge myself through vengeance, I placed its blood on the barrenness of a rock, _⌊so that it may not be covered_⌋."* ⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Woe to the city of bloodguilt! I, even I, will make the pile of wood great!

² Swearing and lying, murdering and stealing, and adultery break out,* and bloodshed follows bloodshed. ³ Therefore the land mourns, and all those living in it languish with the animals of the field, and the birds of the heaven, and even the fish of the sea are being swept away.

² Those of you who are haters of good and lovers of evil, who tear their skin from them and their flesh from their bones, ³ and who eat the flesh of my people, and strip their skin from them, and break their bones, and chop them like meat in the pot, and like flesh in the midst of a cooking pot."

¹⁰ he who builds Zion with blood and Jerusalem with wickedness.

² The faithful person has perished from the land, and there is none who is upright among humankind. All of them lie in wait; each hunts his brother with a net.

³ Her officials in her midst are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing until the morning.

³⁵ so that upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on the earth from the blood of righteous Abel up to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

¹⁸ Then the commander of the imperial guard took Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and three of the threshold keepers. ¹⁹ From the city he took one court official who was chief officer over the men of war, five men _⌊from the king's council_⌋* who were found in the city, the secretary of the commander of the army who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men from the people of the land being found in the city. ²⁰ Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. ²¹ Then the king of Babylon struck them down and killed them at Riblah in the land of Hamath; thus Judah was removed from its land. ²² Now as far as the people left in Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon left behind, he appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan over them.

²⁴ Then the captain of the guard* took Seraiah _⌊the chief priest_⌋,* and Zephaniah _⌊the second priest_⌋,* and three keepers of the threshold. ²⁵ And from the city he took one high official who was chief officer over _⌊the soldiers_⌋,* and seven men of _⌊the king's advisors_⌋* who were found in the city, and the secretary of the commander of the army who levied for military service the people of the land, and sixty men* of the people of the land who were found in the midst of the city. ²⁶ Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard* took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. ²⁷ And the king of Babylon struck them down and killed them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah left from its land.

⁹ Like a diamond _⌊harder than flint_⌋* I have made your forehead; you must not fear them, and you must not be dismayed _⌊on account of them_⌋,* for they _⌊are a rebellious house_⌋.* ¹⁰ And he said to me, "Son of man,* all of my words that I shall speak to you, receive into* your heart and hear with your ears. ¹¹ And come, go to the exiles,* to the children* of your people, and you must speak to them, and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh!' whether they listen or whether they fail to listen."

³ And _⌊deliver a proverb_⌋* to _⌊the rebellious house_⌋,* and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Place the pot! Place it and also pour water into it. ⁴ Gather its pieces to it, every good piece, thigh and shoulder, fill it with choice bones; ⁵ take the choicest of the flock, and also pile the bones* under it; _⌊boil it vigorously_⌋;* indeed,* its bones boiled in the midst of it." '" ⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Woe to the city of bloodguilt! I, even I, will make the pile of wood great! ¹⁰ Pile up the logs; kindle the fire; finish cooking the meat, and mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned.* ¹¹ And _⌊make it stand_⌋* empty upon its burning coals so that it may become hot, and its copper may become molten and be melted in the midst of it,* so that its uncleanness and its rust be consumed. ¹² Through effort she has caused weariness; _⌊its thick rust_⌋* went not out of it. Its rust! Into the fire with its rust! ¹³ In your uncleanness is obscene conduct, because I cleansed you, but you were not clean from your uncleanness; you will not be clean again until _⌊I fully vent my rage_⌋* on you.

²⁵ because the dread that I _⌊feel_⌋* has come upon me, and what I feared befalls me.

²⁴ "He will flee from an iron weapon, but an arrow of bronze will pierce him.

²⁴ The dread of the wicked will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

¹⁷ Terror and the pit and the snare are upon you, inhabitants* of the earth! ¹⁸ And this shall happen:
The one who flees from the sound of the terror shall fall into the pit, and the one who goes up from _⌊inside the pit_⌋* shall be caught in the snare, for the windows from heaven are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.

¹⁶ and you said,
"No! For we will flee on horses!"* Therefore you shall flee! And, "We will ride on swift horses!"* Therefore your pursuers shall be swift! ¹⁷ One thousand _⌊because of_⌋* a threat of one, _⌊because_⌋* of a threat of five you shall flee, until you are left like a flagstaff on _⌊top_⌋* of a mountain, and like a signal on a hill.

⁴ Indeed, I myself I will choose their ill treatment, and I will bring them objects of their dread, because I called, and _⌊no one answered_⌋;* I spoke and they did not listen, but* they did the evil in my eyes, and they chose that in which I do not delight."

¹⁹ And Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, "I am afraid of the Judeans who have deserted to the Chaldeans, lest they give me into their hand and they abuse me." ²⁰ And Jeremiah said, "They will not give you over. Please obey the voice of Yahweh with regard to what I am saying to you, and it will go well with you, and _⌊you_⌋* will live. ²¹ But if you are refusing to surrender, this is the thing that Yahweh has shown me. ²² Now look, all the women who remain in the house of the king of Judah are being led out to the officials of the king of Babylon. And look, they are saying,
'_⌊Your trusted friends_⌋* have misled you, and they have prevailed against you. Your feet are stuck in the mud, so they turned backward.' ²³ And all your wives and your children will be led out to the Chaldeans, and you will not escape from their hand, but by the hand of the king of Babylon you will be seized, and this city will burn with fire."

¹⁴ saying, "No, for we will go to the land of Egypt where we will not see war, and we will not hear the sound of a horn, and we will not be hungry for bread, and there we will stay," ¹⁵ then _⌊therefore_⌋* hear the word of Yahweh, O remnant of Judah. Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: "_⌊If you are determined_⌋* to go to Egypt, and you go to dwell as aliens there, ¹⁶ then it will be that the sword that you are in fear of will overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine that you are anxious of will pursue after you there into Egypt, and there you will die.

¹² And I will take away the remnant of Judah _⌊who are determined_⌋* to come to the land of Egypt to dwell as aliens there, and everyone will perish. They will fall in the land of Egypt by the sword; they will perish by the famine, from the smallest to the greatest. By the sword and by the famine they will die and become as a curse, as a horror, and as a curse, and as a disgrace. ¹³ So I will punish those who live in the land of Egypt just as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with the famine, and with the plague.

¹ I saw my Lord standing by the altar and he said, "Strike the capitals so that the thresholds will shake, and shatter them on the head of all of them, and I will kill the rest of them with the sword. A fugitive belonging to them will not run away, and a survivor belonging to them will not escape. ² If they dig into Sheol, from there my hand will take them, and even if they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down. ³ And even if they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, from there I will search and will take them, and even if they hide from before my eyes at the bottom of the sea, from there I will command the sea serpent and it will bite them. ⁴ And even if they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword and it will kill them, and I will fix my eyes on them for harm and not for good."

⁴⁸ If we allow him to go on in this way, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place* and our* nation."

¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and who persecuted us, and who are not pleasing to God and are opposed to all people, ¹⁶ hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles in order that they may be saved, so that they always fill up their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the end.*

³⁶ Yahweh will bring you and your king whom you set up over you to a nation that you or your ancestors* have not known, and there you will serve other gods of wood and stone.

⁴⁹ Yahweh will raise up against you a nation from far off, from the end of the earth, attacking as the eagle swoops down, _⌊a nation whose language you will not understand_⌋,* ⁵⁰ _⌊a grim-faced nation_⌋* _⌊who does not show respect_⌋* to the old and the young and does not show pity.

⁴ Also, for the blood of the innocent that he had shed—and he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood—Yahweh was not willing to forgive.

³⁶ Behold, we are slaves to this day, and the land that you have given to our ancestors* to eat its fruits and enjoy its goodness—behold, we are slaves in it! ³⁷ Its rich yield goes to the kings whom you have given over us because of our sins, and they are ruling over our dead bodies and our livestock at their pleasure. We are in great trouble.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and so the plague was stopped,

⁴¹ Then he gave them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil deed is not carried out quickly, the heart of _⌊humans_⌋* fills up within them to do evil.

¹⁵ Look, I am about to bring on you a nation from afar, O house of Israel," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. "It is an enduring nation, it is _⌊an ancient nation_⌋.* A nation whose language you do not know, and you cannot understand what they speak. ¹⁶ Their quiver is like an open tomb, all of them are warriors. ¹⁷ And they will eat your harvest and your food, they will eat your sons and your daughters, they will eat your flock and your herd, they will eat your vine and your fig tree, they will smash with the sword _⌊your fortified cities_⌋,* in which you trust.

⁶ And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah at Riblah before his eyes. The king of Babylon also slaughtered all the nobles of Judah.

⁸ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Look! I, _⌊even I_⌋,* am against you, and I will execute judgment in the midst of you before the eyes of the nations,

¹⁰ Therefore* parents* will eat children* in the midst of you, and children* will eat their parents,* and I will execute judgment in you, and I will scatter your entire remnant to every wind.

¹⁵ And it will be* an object of taunting* and an object of mockery, a warning and a horror to the nations that are around you whenever I execute judgments against you in anger and in wrath and in furious punishments! I, Yahweh, have spoken!

³⁸ And I will judge you with the judgment of women committing adultery and shedding blood, and I will give you the blood of rage and jealousy.

⁴¹ And they will burn your houses with fire, and they will execute against you judgments _⌊before_⌋* many women, and I will stop you from prostitution, and also a harlot's wages you will not give* again.

³¹ And I will pour out my anger on you; I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and I will give you into the hand of brutal men, skilled craftsmen of destruction.

¹⁹ And I will execute judgments in Egypt, and they will know that I am Yahweh."

²⁷ And he has granted him authority to carry out judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

⁴ for it is God's servant to you for what is good. But if you do what is bad, be afraid, because it does not bear the sword to no purpose. For it is God's servant, the one who avenges for punishment on the one who does what is bad.

¹⁵ to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly* concerning all their ungodly deeds that they have committed in an ungodly way, and concerning all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

⁸ From Mount Hor you will make a boundary to reach Hamath; the limits of the territory will be at Zedad. ⁹ The boundary will go out to Ziphron, and its limits will be at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary to the north.

⁵ and the land of the Gebalites, and all the Lebanon,* _⌊toward the east_⌋,* from Baal Gad _⌊at the foot of_⌋* Mount Hermon up to Lebo-Hamath;

⁶⁵ Solomon held the festival at that time and all of Israel with him, a great assembly from Lebo Hamath up to the wadi* of Egypt before Yahweh our God, for seven days and seven days, a total of fourteen days.

²⁵ He restored the boundary of Israel from Lebo-Hamath up to the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah the son of Amittai the prophet, who was from Gath-Hepher.

¹⁶ Yahweh has made himself known; he has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his hands. Higgaion* Selah

²⁴ _⌊But only_⌋* in this must the one who boasts boast, that he has insight, and that he knows me, that I am Yahweh, showing loyal love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for in these things I delight," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

⁹ Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and _⌊he passed sentence on him_⌋.* ¹⁰ And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also slaughtered all the officials of Judah at Riblah.

⁷ and the slain one will fall in the midst of you, and then you will know that I am Yahweh.

⁹ "And it will be my hand against the prophets who are seeing falseness and who are practicing lying divination. They will not be in the council of my people, and they will not be written down in the record book of the house of Israel, and into* the land of Israel they will not come, and then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁴ And I will break down the wall that you covered with whitewash, and I will knock it to the ground, and its foundation will be revealed, and it will fall, and you will come to an end in the midst of it, and you will know that I am Yahweh!

²¹ And I will tear off your veils, and I will deliver my people from your hand, and they will not any longer be in your hand as prey, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

²³ Therefore falseness* you will not see,* and divination you will not practice* any longer, and I will rescue my people from your hand, and you will know that I am Yahweh!'"

³ who are saying, "The building of houses is not near; the city is the pot, and we are the flesh.

⁷ Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Your slain ones whom you put in its midst, they are the flesh, and it is the pot, and I* will bring you out from its midst. ⁸ The sword you have feared, and the sword I will bring against you!" _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ⁹ "And I will bring you out from its midst, and I will give you into the hand of strangers, and I will execute judgments against you. ¹⁰ By the sword you will fall at the border of Israel; I will judge you, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

³ You must not _⌊carry out_⌋* the practices of the land of Egypt, in which you lived, and you must not _⌊carry out_⌋* the practices of the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you; and you must not follow their statutes.

²⁴ " 'You must not make yourself unclean in any of these things, because the nations whom I am driving out from your presence were made unclean by all of these. ²⁵ So* the land became unclean, and _⌊I have brought the punishment of_⌋* its guilt upon it, and the land has vomited out its inhabitants. ²⁶ But* you (neither the native nor* the alien who is dwelling in your midst) shall keep my statutes and my regulations, and you shall not _⌊practice_⌋* any of these detestable things ²⁷ (because the people of the land, who were _⌊before you_⌋,* did all these detestable things, so the land became unclean), ²⁸ so that the land will not vomit you out when you make it unclean just as it vomited out the nation that was _⌊before you_⌋.*

⁴⁰ " 'But* when they confess their guilt and the guilt of their ancestors* in their infidelity that they displayed against me, and moreover that they went against me in hostility—

³⁰ _⌊take care_⌋* so that you are not ensnared _⌊into imitating them_⌋* after their being destroyed from _⌊before you_⌋,* and so that you not enquire concerning their gods, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'How did these nations serve their gods, and thus _⌊I myself_⌋* want to do also.' ³¹ You must not do so toward Yahweh your God, because of every detestable thing they have done for their gods Yahweh hates, for even their sons and their daughters they would burn in the fire to their gods.

³³ because he has forsaken me, and they bowed down to Ashtoreth, the god of the Sidonians, to Chemosh, the god of Moab, and to Molech, the god of the _⌊Ammonites_⌋.* They did not walk in my ways to do right in my eyes, my ordinances, or my judgments, as did David his father.

³ He walked in the way of the kings of Israel; he even let his son pass through the fire according to the detestable things of the nations which Yahweh drove out from before the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

¹⁰ So King Ahaz went to meet Tiglath-Pileser the king of Assyria in Damascus, and he saw the altar which was in Damascus, so King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest the builder's plan of the altar and the _⌊exact model of how it had been made_⌋.* ¹¹ So Uriah the priest built the altar according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus; thus Uriah the priest did before King Ahaz came from Damascus.

¹¹ They burned incense there on all the high places, like the nations which Yahweh deported before them, and they did evil things to provoke Yahweh. ¹² They served idols which Yahweh had said to them, "You shall not do this thing!" ¹³ Yahweh warned Israel and Judah by the hand of his every prophet, with every seer saying, "Turn from all of your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my ordinances, according to all the law which I commanded your ancestors,* which I sent to you by the hand of my servants the prophets." ¹⁴ But they did not listen and they stiffened their necks, like the necks of their ancestors* who did not believe in Yahweh their God. ¹⁵ They rejected his statutes, his covenant which he _⌊made_⌋* with their ancestors,* and his warnings which he gave to them; and they went after the idols, became vain, and went after all the nations which were all around them, which Yahweh had commanded them not to do as they did. ¹⁶ They abandoned all the commands of Yahweh their God and made for themselves two molten calf-shaped idols; they made a pole of Asherah worship and bowed down to the army of the heavens and served Baal. ¹⁷ They made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, they practiced divination and read omens, and they sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of Yahweh to provoke him. ¹⁸ So Yahweh was very angry with Israel and he removed them from his presence; none remained except the tribe of Judah alone. ¹⁹ Even Judah did not keep the commands of Yahweh their God, and they walked in the customs of Israel which they introduced, ²⁰ so Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel and punished them, and he gave them into the hand of the plunderers until he banished them from his presence. ²¹ For he had torn Israel from the house of David, and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king, but Jeroboam detached Israel from following Yahweh, and he made them sin a great sin. ²² The _⌊Israelites_⌋* walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he committed, and they did not depart from it, ²³ until Yahweh removed Israel from his presence as he had foretold by the hand of all his servants, the prophets. And so he deported Israel from upon his land to Assyria until this day.

¹² because they did not listen to the voice of Yahweh their God, and they transgressed his covenant; all that he had commanded Moses, the servant of Yahweh, they did not listen to nor did they obey.

² He did evil in the eyes of Yahweh, according to the detestable things of the nations that Yahweh had driven out from the presence of the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

²² He abandoned Yahweh the God of his ancestors* and did not walk in the way of Yahweh.

⁹ Did you not drive out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, the Levites? Have you not made for yourselves priests like all the peoples of the lands? All who come _⌊to be consecrated for priestly service_⌋* with a young bull or seven rams becomes a priest of what is not a god.

³ And he himself burned incense in the valley of Ben-Hinnom and burned his sons in the fire, according to the detestable practices of the nations whom Yahweh drove out before the Israelites.

² And he did evil in the eyes of Yahweh according to the detestable things of the nations whom Yahweh drove out before the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ³ And _⌊he rebuilt_⌋* the high places that Hezekiah his father broke down, and he set up altars for the Baals, made Asherahs, and bowed down to the host of heaven and served them. ⁴ And he built altars in the house of Yahweh, of which Yahweh had said, "In Jerusalem my name shall be forever." ⁵ And he built altars to all the host of heaven in the two courtyards of the house of Yahweh. ⁶ And he himself burned his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom. And he practiced sorcery and divination, and he engaged in witchcraft and dealt with mediums and spiritists. And he did much evil in the eyes of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger. ⁷ And he placed the carved image of the idol that he had made in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever. ⁸ And I will _⌊never_⌋* remove the foot of Israel from upon the land that I appointed to your ancestors,* if only you will take care to do all that I have commanded them, all the law, the regulations, and the judgments by the hand of Moses." ⁹ And Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do evil more than the nations that Yahweh destroyed before the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

¹⁴ All the leaders of the priests and the people likewise increased in unfaithfulness according to all the detestable things of the nations. And they polluted the house of Yahweh that he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

⁷ From the days of our ancestors* until this day we have been in great guilt, and because of our sins we ourselves, our kings, and our priests have been handed into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plunder, and to utter shame, as it is this day.

³⁴ Our kings, our officials, our priests, and our ancestors* did not keep your law* and did not listen to your commandments and statutes that you declared to them.

¹⁰ They did not keep the covenant of God and refused to go in his law.*

³⁵ but they mingled with the nations and learned their works, ³⁶ and served their idols, which became* a snare to them. ³⁷ They even sacrificed their sons and daughters to the demons, ³⁸ and they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and so the land was defiled with the blood.* ³⁹ And they became unclean by their works, and were unfaithful in their deeds.

¹⁶ Thus says Yahweh: "Stand at the roads and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the way of the good is, and walk in it, and find rest for your inner selves.* But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'*

² Thus says Yahweh:
"You must not learn the way of the nations, and you must not be dismayed by the signs of the heavens, for the nations are dismayed by them.

¹⁰ And I came, and I saw, and look, all kinds of creatures* and detestable beasts;* and all of the idols of the house of Israel were carved on the wall _⌊all around_⌋.*

¹⁴ And he brought me to the doorway of the gate of the house of Yahweh that is toward the north, and look! There were the women sitting weeping for Tammuz.

²¹ But to* the heart of their abominations and the detestable things their heart is going. I will bring their way on their head," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.'"

⁴⁴ Look! Everyone quoting a proverb* against you, he will quote, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'Like her mother is her daughter!' ⁴⁵ You are a daughter of your mother who abhorred her husband and her children, and you are a sister of your sisters who abhorred their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father was an Amorite. ⁴⁶ And your elder sister, she is Samaria, and her daughters, who are dwelling on your north, and your younger sister is the one dwelling on your south; she is Sodom and her daughters. ⁴⁷ And you have not only gone in their ways, but* you also did according to their detestable things. _⌊In such a short time_⌋* you behaved more corruptly than they in all of your ways.

⁹ and in my statutes he goes about and my regulations he keeps,* _⌊performing faithfully_⌋* —then he is righteous, and certainly he will live," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁶ because they despised my judgments, and _⌊they did not walk in my statutes_⌋,* and my Sabbaths they profaned, for their heart was going after their idols.

²¹ But the children rebelled against me; _⌊they did not walk in my statutes_⌋,* and _⌊they did not observe my regulations_⌋,* which if a person does them, then he will live by them. My Sabbaths they desecrated, and I decided to pour out my rage on them, to finish my anger against them in the desert.

²⁴ because they did not do my regulations, and my statutes they despised, and my Sabbaths they profaned, and their eyes were after the idols of their ancestors.*

¹⁰ and we have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God, by following his law _⌊which he placed before us_⌋* by the hand of his servants the prophets.

³⁵ I, Yahweh, have spoken; I will surely do this to all this evil community who has banded together against me. In this desert they will come to an end, and there they will die." ³⁶ As for the men whom Moses sent to explore the land, who returned and made the community grumble against him by spreading a report over the land, ³⁷ the men who spread the evil report of the land died by the plague _⌊before Yahweh_⌋.*

⁴ For their* sons and daughters will cause your son* to turn away _⌊from following me_⌋,* and so they will serve other gods, and _⌊the anger of Yahweh would be kindled_⌋* against you, and he would quickly destroy you.

¹⁸ And then I lay prostrate _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, as earlier, forty days* and forty nights;* I did not eat food and I did not drink water because of all your sins that you committed, by doing evil in the eyes of Yahweh and so provoking him. ¹⁹ For _⌊I was in dread_⌋* from being in the presence of the anger and the wrath with which Yahweh was angry with you so as to destroy you, but Yahweh listened to me also _⌊at that time_⌋.*

⁶ And Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the ground on his face before the ark of Yahweh until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.* ⁷ And Joshua said, "Ah, my Lord! Why did you bring this people across the Jordan to give us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content and stayed beyond the Jordan. ⁸ Please, my Lord! What can I say after _⌊Israel has fled from its enemies_⌋?* ⁹ The Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of this, and they will surround us and cut off our name from the land. What will you do, for your great name?"

⁴ It happened at the moment the king heard the word of the man of God that he cried out against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, "Seize him!" But his hand which he stretched out to him was paralyzed, and he was not able to draw it back to himself.

¹⁶ And David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of Yahweh standing between earth and heaven, with his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. ¹⁷ Then David said to God, "Was it not I who gave a command to count the people? Now I am he who has sinned, and I have certainly done wickedness, but these sheep, what have they done? O Yahweh, my God, please let your hand be against me and against the house of my father, but against your people, let there be no plague."

²³ So he said he would exterminate them, had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to reverse his wrath from destroying them.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.

¹⁵ Upon _⌊such a man_⌋,* suddenly shall his calamity come; in a moment he will be damaged and there is no healing.*

¹⁵ Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet, "Please listen, Hananiah, Yahweh has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie. ¹⁶ _⌊Therefore_⌋* thus says Yahweh, 'Look, I am going to send you from the face of the earth. This year you will die because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh.'" ¹⁷ And Hananiah the prophet died in that same year in the seventh month.

⁸ _⌊And then_⌋* _⌊as they were striking_⌋,* and I was left behind, I fell on my face, and I cried out, and I said, "Ah, Lord Yahweh! "Will you be destroying all of the remnant of Israel _⌊while you pour out your rage_⌋* on Jerusalem?"

¹ And the Spirit lifted me up, and it brought me to the eastern gate, the one facing east, of the temple* of Yahweh. And look, there were twenty-five men in the doorway of the gate, and I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur in the midst of them, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, the commanders of the people.

⁷ And I prophesied _⌊just as_⌋* I had been commanded, and there was a sound at my prophesying, and look! A rattling, and they came together—the bones! Bone to its bone!

² And then when they* finished eating the vegetation of the land, I said, "O Lord Yahweh, please forgive! How can Jacob stand, because he is small?"

⁵ Then I said, "O Lord Yahweh, please stop! How can Jacob stand, because he is small?"

⁵ And when* Ananias heard these words, he fell down and* died. And great fear came on all those who heard about it.*

¹⁰ And immediately she fell down at his feet and died. So when* the young men came in, they found her dead, and carried her* out and* buried her* with her husband.

¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is against you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun _⌊for a while_⌋.* And immediately mist and darkness fell over him, and he was going around looking for people* to lead him* by the hand.

⁵ _⌊who say_⌋,* "_⌊Keep to yourself_⌋!* You must not come near me, for I am too holy for you!" These are a smoke in my _⌊nostrils_⌋,* a fire burning all day.

⁵ Hear the word of Yahweh, you who are frightened at his word:
Your brothers who hate you, who exclude you for my name's sake have said, "Let Yahweh be honored so that* we may see your joy!" But* they themselves shall be ashamed.

¹ Yahweh showed me, and look, there were two baskets of figs placed _⌊before_⌋* the temple of Yahweh—after Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had deported Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, with the officials of Judah, and the craftsmen, and the smiths,* from Jerusalem and had brought them to Babylon. ² The one basket had very good figs, like _⌊early figs_⌋,* and the other basket had very bad figs that could not be eaten because of their bad quality. ³ And Yahweh asked me, "What are you seeing, Jeremiah?" And I said, "Figs—the good figs, very good, and the bad figs, very bad, that cannot be eaten because of their bad quality." ⁴ Then the word of Yahweh came to me, _⌊saying_⌋,* ⁵ "Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, 'Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles* of Judah whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.

²⁴ "Son of man,* the inhabitants of these ruins on the soil of Israel are saying, 'Abraham was one man, and he took possession of the land, and we are many; the land has been given for* us as a possession.'

² _⌊They will expel you from the synagogue_⌋,* but an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think they are offering service to God.

⁴⁴ And _⌊in spite of_⌋* this, _⌊when they are_⌋* in the land of their enemies I will not reject them, and I will not abhor them to destroy them, to break my covenant with them, because I am Yahweh their God.

³ and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion upon you, and _⌊he will again gather you together_⌋* from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there. ⁴ "Even if _⌊you are outcasts_⌋* at the end of the heavens, even from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there _⌊he shall bring you back_⌋.*

¹² Jehoiachin king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his servants, his commanders, and his court officials. The king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. ¹³ Then he took from there all of the treasures of the temple of Yahweh and the treasures of the palace of the king. He cut up all of the vessels of gold which Solomon the king of Israel had made in the temple of Yahweh, as Yahweh had foretold. ¹⁴ He deported all of Jerusalem: all of the commanders, ten thousand of the skilled warriors, and the artisans; no one was left over except the poorest of the people of the land. ¹⁵ He deported Jehoiachin to Babylon; the mother of the king, the wives of the king, his court officials, and the citizenry of the land he caused to go into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: ¹⁶ of all of the skilled men, seven thousand, and of the skilled craftsmen and the artisans, one thousand. All of the mighty warriors _⌊fit for war_⌋* the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

²⁰ You will hide them in the protection of your presence from the plots of man. You will hide them in a shelter from the strife of tongues.

¹¹ You have given us as sheep for food, and among the nations you have scattered us.

¹ A prayer of Moses, the man of God.*
O Lord, you have been our help* _⌊in all generations_⌋.*

¹ One who lives in the secret place* of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of Shaddai.*

⁹ For you, O Yahweh, are my refuge. You have made the Most High your dwelling place.* ¹⁰ No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. ¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. ¹² In their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. ¹³ You will tread on lion and viper; you will trample young lion and serpent. ¹⁴ Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect* him because he knows my name. ¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue and honor him. ¹⁶ With _⌊long life_⌋* I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

¹⁰ A tower of strength is the name of Yahweh; into him* the righteous will run and be safe.

⁵ Then Yahweh will create over all of the site* of _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* and over her assembly a cloud by day and smoke and the brightness of flaming fire by night. Indeed, over all the glory there will be a canopy,

¹⁴ And he will become like a sanctuary and a stumbling-stone, and like a stumbling-rock for the two houses of Israel, like a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

⁵ "Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, 'Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles* of Judah whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans. ⁶ For I will set my eyes* on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. And I will build them and not annihilate them, and I will plant them and not uproot them.

⁷ And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the temple of Yahweh.

¹¹ Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and to all the people, _⌊saying_⌋,* "_⌊This man deserves the death sentence_⌋,* because he has prophesied against this city as that which you have heard with your ears."

¹¹ For I am with you,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'to save you. For I will make a complete destruction of all the nations to which I scattered you, but you I will not make a complete destruction. And I will chastise you to the measure, and I will not leave you entirely unpunished.'

¹⁰ Hear the word of Yahweh, O nations, and declare in the coastlands from afar, and say, "The scatterer of Israel will gather him, and he will keep him as a shepherd his flock.

¹¹ You must not be afraid _⌊of_⌋* the king of Babylon whom you are _⌊afraid of_⌋.* You must not be afraid of him,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'for I am with you to save you and to deliver you from his hand.

¹¹ And this shall happen on that day:
The Lord will again extend his hand a second time to acquire the remnant of his people that is left, from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the coastlands of the sea, ¹² and he will raise a signal for the nations. And he will gather the outcasts of Israel, and he will gather the scattered ones of Judah together from the four _⌊corners_⌋* of the earth. ¹³ And the jealousy of Ephraim shall depart, and the enemies of Judah shall be cut off. Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah, and Judah shall not be an enemy of Ephraim. ¹⁴ But they shall _⌊swoop_⌋* upon the Philistine shoulder,* _⌊westward_⌋.* Together they shall plunder the sons of the east. Edom and Moab _⌊will be under their command_⌋,* and the sons of Ammon will be their subjugated people. ¹⁵ And Yahweh will divide* the tongue* of the sea of Egypt,* and he will wave his hand over the river* with his scorching wind; and he will strike it into seven streams, and he will _⌊make it passable by foot_⌋.* ¹⁶ So there shall be a highway from Assyria for the remnant of his people that remains, as there was for Israel _⌊when_⌋* it went up from the land of Egypt.

¹² Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,
'Return, apostate* Israel,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. 'I will not cause my _⌊anger_⌋* to fall on you. For I am loyal,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. 'I will not be angry _⌊forever_⌋.*

¹⁸ In those days the house of Judah will walk along with the house of Israel and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave as an inheritance to your ancestors.*

⁵ "Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, 'Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles* of Judah whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.

¹⁰ But you must not fear, my servant Jacob,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'and you must not be dismayed, Israel, for look, I am going to save you from far, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return, and he will be at rest, and he will be at ease, and there will be no one who makes him* afraid. ¹¹ For I am with you,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'to save you. For I will make a complete destruction of all the nations to which I scattered you, but you I will not make a complete destruction. And I will chastise you to the measure, and I will not leave you entirely unpunished.'

¹⁸ Thus says Yahweh:
'Look, I will restore the fortunes* of the tents of Jacob, and I will have compassion on his dwellings, and the city will be rebuilt upon its mound, and the citadel fortress will stand on its rightful site.

⁸ Look, I am going to bring them from the land of the north, and I will gather them from the remotest part of the earth. Among them the blind, and the lame, those who are pregnant, and those who give birth, together, a great assembly, they will return here. ⁹ With weeping they will come, and with pleas for mercy I will bring them; I will let them walk by streams of water in a straight path. They will not stumble in it, for I have become to Israel a father, and Ephraim, he is my firstborn." ¹⁰ Hear the word of Yahweh, O nations, and declare in the coastlands from afar, and say, "The scatterer of Israel will gather him, and he will keep him as a shepherd his flock.

³⁷ Look, I am going to gather them from all the lands to which I driven them in my anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath, and I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell _⌊in safety_⌋.* ³⁸ And they will be for me a people, and I will be for them God. ³⁹ And I will give to them one heart and one way, to revere me _⌊forever_⌋,* for good to them, and to their children after them. ⁴⁰ And I will _⌊make_⌋* with them _⌊an everlasting covenant_⌋* that I will not turn away from them, my doing good to them, and my reverence I will put in their hearts* so that they will not turn aside from me. ⁴¹ And I will rejoice over them to do good to them, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness with all my heart, and with all my inner self."*

⁴¹ I will accept you as _⌊a fragrant incense offering_⌋* when I bring you out from the peoples and I gather you from the lands to which you were scattered, and I will show myself holy among you before the eyes of the nations.

²⁵ Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples to which they were scattered about in them, and I show myself holy in* them before the eyes of the nations, then they will live on their soil, which I gave to my servant Jacob.

¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their soil, and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all of the settlements of the land.

²⁴ " 'And I will take you from the nations, and I will gather you from all of the lands, and I will bring you to your land.

²¹ And speak to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I am taking the _⌊Israelites_⌋* from among _⌊the nations to which they went_⌋,* and I will gather them from _⌊everywhere_⌋,* and I will bring them to their own soil. ²² And I will make them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel, and _⌊they will all have one king as their king_⌋,* and they* will not again be two nations and will not again divide into two kingdoms again. ²³ And they will not defile themselves again with their idols and with vile idols and with all of their transgressions, and I will save them from all of their apostasy _⌊by which they sinned_⌋,* and I will cleanse them and they will be for me as a people and I, I will be for them as God. ²⁴ " '"And my servant David will be king over them, and one shepherd will be for all of them, and in my regulations they will go, and my statutes they will observe, and they will do them. ²⁵ And they will dwell on the land that I gave to my servant, to Jacob, _⌊in which your ancestors dwelled_⌋,* and they will dwell on it, they and their children and the children of their children _⌊forever_⌋,* and my servant David will be a leader for them _⌊forever_⌋.* ²⁶ And I will make with them a covenant of peace; _⌊an everlasting covenant_⌋* it will be with them. And I will establish them, and I will cause them to increase, and I will put my sanctuary in the midst of them _⌊forever_⌋.* ²⁷ And my tabernacle will be with them, and I will be for them as God, and they will be to me as a nation. ²⁸ And the nations will know that I, Yahweh, am consecrating Israel when my sanctuary is in the midst of them _⌊forever_⌋." '"*

²⁷ When I restore them from the nations and I gather them from the countries of their enemies, then I will show myself holy through them before the eyes of many nations. ²⁸ And they will know that I am Yahweh their God, because of when I deported them into the nations, and I reassembled them to their soil, and _⌊I will not let any of them remain there any longer_⌋.* ²⁹ And I will not hide my face again from them when I pour out my Spirit over* the house of Israel," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁰ * The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God." ¹¹ Then the children of Judah and Israel will be gathered together, and they will appoint for themselves one head; and _⌊they will take possession of_⌋* the land, for great is the day of Jezreel.*

¹⁴ And I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they will rebuild the desolated cities and will inhabit them. And they will plant vineyards and will drink their wine, and they will make gardens and will eat their fruit. ¹⁵ And I will plant them on their land and they will not be uprooted again from their land that I have given to them," says Yahweh your God.

²⁵ And I will turn my hand against you; I will purify your dross like lye, and I will remove all of your tin. ²⁶ And I will restore your judges, as at the first, and your counselors, as at the beginning. After this _⌊you will be called_⌋* the city of righteousness, faithful city. ²⁷ Zion will be redeemed by justice, and those of her who repent, by righteousness.

²² And you will defile the plating of your silver idols and the covering of your gold image. You will scatter them like contaminated things;* you will say to it, "Filth!"*

¹⁸ And _⌊I will first doubly repay_⌋* their iniquity and their sin because of their profaning my land with the dead bodies* of their abhorrences, and with their abominations they have filled up my inheritance.'"

¹¹ Therefore _⌊as surely as I live_⌋,* _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, _⌊Surely_⌋* because you have defiled my sanctuary with all of your vile idols and with all of your detestable things, _⌊now indeed I_⌋* will reduce, and my eye will not take pity, and surely I will show no compassion.

²⁰ " 'And the beauty of its* ornament _⌊he made into a prideful thing_⌋* and made with it their detestable things and their vile idols; therefore I will make it into an impure thing for them.

²³ And they will not defile themselves again with their idols and with vile idols and with all of their transgressions, and I will save them from all of their apostasy _⌊by which they sinned_⌋,* and I will cleanse them and they will be for me as a people and I, I will be for them as God.

⁷ And there was a wall that was to the outside _⌊alongside_⌋* the chambers on the walkway to* the outer courtyard* _⌊in front of_⌋* the chambers; its length was fifty* cubits.* ⁸ For* the length of the chambers which were to the outer courtyard was fifty* cubits,* and look!* The chambers on the front of the temple were a hundred* cubits.*

⁸ O Ephraim, _⌊what have I to do_⌋* with idols? I myself have answered and looked after you.* I am like a luxuriant cypress; your fruit* comes from me.

¹⁰ "And it will happen that in that day," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "then I will cut off your horses from among you, and I will destroy your chariots. ¹¹ And I will cut off the cities of your land, and I will demolish all your fortifications. ¹² And I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you will not have soothsayers. ¹³ And I will cut off your idols and your stone pillars from among you, and you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands. ¹⁴ And I will uproot your Asherahs from among you, and I will destroy your cities.

⁵ Therefore put to death _⌊what is earthly in you_⌋*: sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustful passion, evil desire, and greediness, which is idolatry, ⁶ because of which the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, ⁷ in which also you once lived, when you used to live in them.* ⁸ But now you also lay aside all these things: anger, rage, wickedness, slander, abusive language from your mouth.

¹² training us in order that, denying impiety and worldly desires, we may live self-controlled and righteously and godly in the present age,

⁶ "And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self* _⌊so that you may live_⌋.*

¹⁹ because you have a responsive heart, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh when you heard how I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants to become a desolation and a curse, and you have torn your clothes and wept before my face, I have also heard, declares Yahweh.

¹² The hand of God was also upon Judah, to give them one heart to obey the command of the king and the princes concerning the word of Yahweh.

¹⁰ Create a clean heart for me, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit _⌊within me_⌋.*

⁴ because _⌊I know_⌋* that you are obstinate, and your neck an iron sinew, and your forehead bronze.

⁷ And I will give to them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh, and _⌊they will be my people_⌋,* and _⌊I will be their God_⌋,* for they will return to me with the whole of their heart.

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will _⌊make_⌋* with the house of Israel after those days," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh: "I will put my law in their inward parts and on their hearts* I will write it, and I will be to them God, and they themselves will be to me people.

³⁹ And I will give to them one heart and one way, to revere me _⌊forever_⌋,* for good to them, and to their children after them. ⁴⁰ And I will _⌊make_⌋* with them _⌊an everlasting covenant_⌋* that I will not turn away from them, my doing good to them, and my reverence I will put in their hearts* so that they will not turn aside from me.

³¹ Throw _⌊away from yourselves_⌋* all of your transgressions that you committed,* and make _⌊for yourselves_⌋* a new heart and new spirit, and so why will you die, house of Israel?

²⁶ And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give* into your inner parts, and I will remove the* heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ And I will give* my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go* in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them.

⁹ Because then I will _⌊make the speech of the nations pure_⌋;* that all of them might call on the name of Yahweh, to serve him _⌊in unison_⌋.*

¹² _⌊They made their hearts adamant_⌋* in order not to hear the law* and the words that Yahweh of hosts had sent by his spirit through* the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of hosts.

¹³ Therefore if you, although you* are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

²⁶ But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you.

²¹ that they all may be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I am in you, that they also may be in us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me. ²² And the glory that you have given to me, I have given to them, in order that they may be one, just as we are one— ²³ I in them, and you in me, in order that they may be completed in one, so that the world may know that you sent me, and you have loved them just as you have loved me.

³² Now the group of those who believed were one heart and soul, and no one said anything of what belonged to him was his own, but all things were theirs in common.

⁴ Or do you despise the wealth of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

² God has not rejected his people, whom he foreknew! Or do you not know, in the passage about* Elijah, what the scripture says—how he appeals to God against Israel?

¹⁰ Now I exhort you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all say the same thing and there not be divisions among you, and that you be made complete in the same mind and with the same purpose.

³ revealing that you are a letter of Christ, delivered by us, inscribed not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on stone tablets but on tablets of human hearts.

¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.

¹⁵ For neither is circumcision anything nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

³ being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace; ⁴ one body and one Spirit (just as also you were called with one hope of your calling), ⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

²³ be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

¹ Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, ² complete my joy, so that _⌊you are in agreement_⌋*, having the same love, united in spirit, _⌊having one purpose_⌋*. ³ Do nothing according to selfish ambition or according to empty conceit, but in humility considering one another better than yourselves, ⁴ each of you* not looking out for _⌊your own interests_⌋*, but also each of you for _⌊the interests_⌋* of others. ⁵ Think this in* yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

⁴⁵ so that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise Yah.*

⁴ You have commanded* your precepts, that we should keep them diligently. ⁵ Oh that my ways were steadfast, to keep your statutes!

³² I will run the way of your commands, for you will enlarge my heart.*

⁴ which I commanded your ancestors* in the day of my bringing them from the land of Egypt, from the furnace of iron, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'Listen to my voice and do according to all that I command you, _⌊so will you be my people, and I will be your God_⌋.'*

²² 'And you will be to me a people, and I will be to you God.'"

³⁸ And they will be for me a people, and I will be for them God.

¹² And you will know that I am Yahweh, whose* rules you did not follow, and whose* regulations you did not do, but according to the regulations of the nations that are around you, you acted." '*

¹¹ so that the house of Israel will not go astray again _⌊from me_⌋,* and they will not make themselves unclean again with all of their transgressions, and they will be for me a people, and I will be for them as God," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

²⁷ And I will give* my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go* in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them. ²⁸ And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your ancestors,* and you will be to me as a people, and I will be to you as* God.

²⁷ And my tabernacle will be with them, and I will be for them as God, and they will be to me as a nation.

²³ I will sow her for myself in the land; I will have pity on Lo-ruhama;* I will say to Lo-ammi,* "You are my people," and he himself will say, "you are my God."

⁹ And I will bring the remaining third into the fire, and I will refine them like one refines silver, and I will test them like one tests gold. They* will call my name, and I will answer them.* I will say, 'They* are my people,' and they* will say, 'Yahweh is my God.'"

⁶ And they were both righteous in the sight of God, living blamelessly in all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.

⁷⁴ that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, could serve him without fear ⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

² Now I praise you that you remember me in all things, and just as I handed over to you the traditions, you hold fast to them.

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² training us in order that, denying impiety and worldly desires, we may live self-controlled and righteously and godly in the present age,

¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will decree with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I am putting my laws in their minds and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be _⌊their_⌋* God and they will be _⌊my_⌋* people.

¹⁶ But now they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth! Follow the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes— but know that God will bring you into judgment for all these things.

¹⁶ And I will pass* my judgments on them because of all their wickedness in that they have forsaken me, and they made sacrifices to other gods, and they bowed in worship to the works of their hands.

²⁰ "For from long ago you have broken your yoke, you tore to pieces your bonds. And you said, 'I will not serve!' But on every high hill and under every leafy tree you were lying down as a prostitute.

⁹ The heart is deceitful more than anything else, and it is disastrous. Who can understand it?

¹⁶ for thus says Yahweh concerning the king who sits on the throne of David and concerning all the people who live in this city, your fellow kinsmen who did not go with you into the exile— ¹⁷ thus says Yahweh of hosts, 'Look, I am going to send among them the sword, the famine, and the plague, and I will make them like rotten figs that cannot be eaten because of their bad quality. ¹⁸ And I will pursue them with the sword, with the famine, and with the plague, and I will make them a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth, a curse, and a horror, and an object of hissing, and a disgrace among all the nations to which I have driven them, ¹⁹ because they did not listen to my words,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'when I sent to them my servants the prophets, _⌊sending over and over again_⌋,* and they would not listen,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁰ And I, my eye will not take pity, and I will not have compassion; their way I will bring on their head."

¹⁸ And when they come there, then they will remove all of its vile idols and all of its detestable things from it.

⁴³ _⌊Because_⌋* you did not remember* the days of your childhood and you made me angry with all of these. And in turn I, look, I will return your way upon your head,' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, 'and did* you not do wickedness* in addition to all of your detestable things?

³¹ And _⌊when you lift up your gifts, sacrificing your children_⌋* through the fire, you are defiling yourself through all of your idols until _⌊today_⌋,* and will I let myself* be consulted by you, house of Israel?" ' _⌊As I live_⌋,"* _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, "I will not let myself* be consulted by you!

³⁸ And I will purge the rebels from among you and the ones transgressing against me; I will bring them out from the land _⌊where they are living as aliens_⌋,* but into the land of Israel they will not come, and then you will know that I am Yahweh.

³¹ and so I poured out my indignation on them. With the fire of my wrath I destroyed them; I returned their way upon their head," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

²¹ For from within, from the heart of people, come evil plans, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders, ²² adulteries, acts of greed, malicious deeds, deceit, licentiousness, _⌊envy_⌋,* abusive speech, pride, foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile a person."

¹² Watch out, brothers, lest there be in some of you an evil, unbelieving heart, with the result that you fall away* from the living God. ¹³ But encourage one another _⌊day by day_⌋*, as long as it is called "today," so that _⌊none of you become hardened_⌋* by the deception of sin.

³⁸ But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul is not well pleased with him."*

¹⁴ But each one is tempted when he* is dragged away and enticed by his own desires. ¹⁵ Then desire, after it* has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it* is brought to completion, gives birth to death.

¹⁹ These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly, not having the Spirit.

¹⁹ And at the going of the living creatures, the wheels next to them also went, and _⌊when the creatures were lifted from the ground_⌋* the wheels also rose. ²⁰ _⌊Wherever_⌋* the spirit went they would go there, and the wheels rose, for the spirit of the living creatures* was in the wheels.

⁴ And look! There was the glory of the God of Israel like the vision that I saw in the valley.

³ And the glory of the God of Israel lifted itself up from upon the cherub that he was on* and went to the threshold of the house,* and he called to the man who was clothed in linen _⌊with a scribal writing case at his side_⌋.*

⁴ And the glory of Yahweh rose up from on the cherub toward* the threshold of the house,* and the house* was filled with the cloud, and the courtyard was filled with the brightness of the glory of Yahweh.

¹⁸ And the glory of Yahweh went out from* the threshold of the temple, and it stood above the cherubim.

² And, look! The glory of the God of Israel, it came from the way of the east, and its sound was like the sound of many waters* and the land radiated due to his glory!

⁴ And then the glory of Yahweh came to the temple _⌊by the way of the gate facing east_⌋.*

⁴ On that day his feet will stand on _⌊the Mount of Olives_⌋,* which faces Jerusalem on the east; and _⌊the Mount of Olives_⌋* will be split _⌊in half_⌋,* from east to west, by a very great valley; and half of the mountain will withdraw toward the north, and the other half toward the south.

³⁷ "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How many times I wanted to gather your children together _⌊the way_⌋* a hen gathers her young together under her* wings, and you were not willing!

²² When* he finished speaking with him, God went up from Abraham.

¹³ And God went up from him at the place where he spoke with him.

¹ By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat, yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

³ the word of Yahweh _⌊came_⌋* clearly* to Ezekiel the son of Buzi, the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans at the _⌊Kebar River_⌋,* and the hand of Yahweh was on him there.

¹⁵ And I went to the exiles* at Tel Abib, who were dwelling near the _⌊Kebar River_⌋,* and I sat where they were dwelling. I sat there seven days in the midst of them, stunned.

¹⁶ And this happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into heaven.

⁴ And he said to me, "Son of man,* come! Go to the house of Israel, and you must speak to them with my words.

¹⁷ "Son of man,* I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, then you must warn them from me.
