⁴⁰ And you shall keep his rules and his commandments that I am commanding you _⌊today_⌋,* so that _⌊it may go well_⌋* for you and for your children* after you, and so that _⌊you may remain a long time_⌋* on the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you during all of those days."

³¹ "Thus* you shall keep my commands, and you shall do them; I am Yahweh.

¹ " 'You* shall not make for yourselves idols and divine images, and you shall not raise up stone pillars for yourselves, and you shall not put a sculptured stone in your land in order to* worship before it, because I am Yahweh your God. ² " 'You shall keep my Sabbaths, and you shall revere my sanctuary; I am Yahweh. ³ " 'If you walk in my statutes and you keep my commands and you do them, ⁴ then* I will give you rains in their time, and the land shall give its produce, and the trees of the field shall give their fruit. ⁵ And for you the threshing season shall overtake the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall overtake the sowing, and you shall eat your food _⌊to your fill_⌋* and you shall live _⌊securely_⌋* in your land. ⁶ And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and there shall not be _⌊anybody who makes you afraid_⌋,* and I will remove harmful animals from the land, and _⌊no sword shall pass through your land_⌋.* ⁷ And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword _⌊before you_⌋.* ⁸ And five of* you shall pursue a hundred, and a hundred of* you shall pursue a myriad;* and your enemies shall fall by the sword _⌊before you_⌋.* ⁹ And I will turn to you, and I will make you fruitful, and I will make you numerous; and I will keep my covenant with you. ¹⁰ And you shall eat _⌊old grain_⌋,* and _⌊you shall clear away the old before the new_⌋.* ¹¹ And I will put my dwelling place in your midst, and my inner self* shall not abhor you. ¹² And I will walk about in your midst, and I shall be your God,* and you shall be my people.* ¹³ I am Yahweh, your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from being their slaves; and I broke the bars of your yoke, and I caused you to walk erectly.

¹ "Now, Israel, listen to the rules and to the regulations that I am teaching you to do, in order that you may live and you may go in and you may take possession of the land that Yahweh, the God of your ancestors,* is giving to you.

⁶ And _⌊you must observe them diligently_⌋,* for that is your wisdom and your insight before the eyes of the people, who will hear all of these rules, and they will say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people.'

¹⁶ 'Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you, so that it will be good for you* _⌊in the land_⌋* that Yahweh your God is giving to you.

³³ _⌊In exactly the path_⌋* that Yahweh your God has commanded, you must go, so that you may live and _⌊it will go well_⌋* for you and _⌊you may live long_⌋* in the land that you will take possession of."

³ And you shall hear, Israel, and be careful to observe these instructions, so that _⌊it may go well for you_⌋* and that you may multiply greatly, just as Yahweh, the God of your ancestors,* _⌊promised_⌋* you, in a land with milk and honey.

¹⁸ And you shall do what is right and good in the eyes of Yahweh, so that _⌊it shall go well_⌋* for you and so that you may go and you may take possession of the good land that Yahweh swore for your ancestors,*

²⁵ You shall not eat it, so that _⌊it will go well_⌋* for you and your children after you, because then you will be doing what is* right in the eyes of Yahweh.

²⁸ _⌊Be careful to obey_⌋* all these things that I am commanding you, so that _⌊it will go well_⌋* for you and for your children after you _⌊forever_⌋,* because then you will be doing what is* good and right* in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

⁷ you shall certainly let the mother go, but you may take the young for yourselves;* do this _⌊so that it may go well_⌋* for you and _⌊you may live long in the land_⌋.*

¹ "And it will happen that if you indeed listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, _⌊to diligently observe_⌋* all his commandments that I am commanding you _⌊today_⌋,* then Yahweh your God will set you above all the nations of the earth. ² And all of these blessings shall come upon you, and _⌊they shall have an effect on you_⌋* if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God: ³ "You will be blessed in the city, and you will be blessed in the field. ⁴ "Blessed will be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your livestock, _⌊the calf of your cattle and the lambs of your flock_⌋.* ⁵ "Blessed will be your basket and your kneading trough. ⁶ "Blessed will you be _⌊when you come in and blessed will you be when you go out_⌋.* ⁷ "Yahweh will cause your enemies _⌊who rise up against you to be defeated before you_⌋;* on one road* they shall come out against you, but on seven roads* they shall flee _⌊before you_⌋.* ⁸ Yahweh will command _⌊concerning you_⌋* the blessing to be in your barns and _⌊in all your endeavors_⌋;* and he will bless you in the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you. ⁹ Yahweh will establish you for _⌊himself_⌋* as a holy people as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of Yahweh your God and you walk in his ways. ¹⁰ And all of the peoples of the earth shall see that _⌊by the name of Yahweh you are called_⌋,* and _⌊they shall fear you_⌋.* ¹¹ And _⌊Yahweh will make you successful and prosperous_⌋,* in the fruit of your womb and on the land that Yahweh swore to your ancestors* to give to you. ¹² Yahweh shall open for you his _⌊rich_⌋* storehouse, even the heavens, to give the rain for* your land in its time and to bless all of the work of your hand, and you will lend to many nations; you will not borrow from them. ¹³ And Yahweh shall make you* as head and not the tail, and you shall be only at the top of the nations, and you shall not be at the bottom, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God that I am commanding you _⌊today_⌋* _⌊and diligently observe them_⌋.* ¹⁴ And you shall not turn aside from _⌊any of_⌋* the words that I am commanding you _⌊today_⌋* to the right or left by going after other gods to serve them.

⁴ which I commanded your ancestors* in the day of my bringing them from the land of Egypt, from the furnace of iron, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'Listen to my voice and do according to all that I command you, _⌊so will you be my people, and I will be your God_⌋.'*

¹⁵ "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

²¹ The one who has my commandments and keeps them—that one is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him." ²² Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, why* is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?" ²³ Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and _⌊will take up residence with him_⌋.* ²⁴ The one who does not love me does not keep my words, and the word that you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.

³ "in order that it may be well with you, and you may _⌊live a long time_⌋* on the earth."*

⁸ For the training of the body is _⌊somewhat_⌋* profitable, but godliness is profitable for everything, because it* holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.
