²⁰ "Yahweh will send upon you* the curse,* the panic,* and the threat* _⌊in everything that you undertake_⌋,* _⌊until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly_⌋* _⌊because of_⌋* the evil of your deeds in that* you have forsaken me.

³¹ And I will lay your cities in ruins, and I will lay waste your sanctuaries; and I shall not smell your sacrifices'* appeasing fragrance. ³² And I myself* will lay waste the land, and your enemies who are living in it shall be appalled over it. ³³ And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw a sword behind you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a ruin.

³⁸ And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you.

²⁶ I call* to witness against you today the heaven and the earth, that you will perish soon and completely from the land that you are crossing the Jordan into it to take possession of it; _⌊you will not live long on it_⌋,* but you will be completely destroyed.

¹⁶ If you transgress the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded to you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, _⌊Yahweh's anger will be kindled_⌋* against you, and you will perish quickly from the good land that he has given to you."

²⁰ Then Saul and all the troops who were with him were assembled on command and came up to the battle, and look! Each Philistine's sword was against his friend; and there was a very great confusion.

¹¹ God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day.

⁴ O Yahweh God of hosts, _⌊how long will you be angry_⌋* against the prayer of your people? ⁵ You have fed them the bread of tears; you have given them tears to drink in full measure.* ⁶ You have made us an object of strife to our neighbors, and our enemies mock among themselves. ⁷ O God of hosts, restore us and cause your face to shine that we may be saved. ⁸ You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. ⁹ You prepared a place before it, and _⌊it took deep root_⌋* and filled the land. ¹⁰ The mountains were covered with its shade, and the mighty cedars with its boughs. ¹¹ It spread its branches to the sea and its shoots to the river. ¹² Why have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass on the road pluck fruit from it? ¹³ Swine from the forests devour* it and creatures of the field feed on it. ¹⁴ Please return, O God of hosts. Observe from heaven and see, and pay attention to this vine, ¹⁵ eventhe stalk that your right hand planted, and concerning the shoot* you strengthened for yourself. ¹⁶ It is burned with fire, cut down. They perish at the rebuke of your face.

¹⁹ _⌊As often as it passes through_⌋,* it will take you, for _⌊morning by morning_⌋* it will pass through, in the day and in the night,
and understanding the message will be only terror."

¹⁷ One thousand _⌊because of_⌋* a threat of one, _⌊because_⌋* of a threat of five you shall flee, until you are left like a flagstaff on _⌊top_⌋* of a mountain, and like a signal on a hill.

²⁰ Your children have fainted; they lie at the head of all the streets, like an antelope in* a snare, those who are full of the wrath of Yahweh, the rebuke of your God.

¹⁵ For look! Yahweh will come in fire, and his chariots like the storm wind, to _⌊give back_⌋* his anger in wrath, and his rebuke in flames of fire.

¹² And this will be the plague with which Yahweh will strike all the peoples that fight against Jerusalem: their* flesh will rot while they* are standing on their* feet; their* eyes will rot in their sockets, and their* tongues* will rot in their mouths.* ¹³ _⌊And then_⌋* on that day a great panic from Yahweh will fall* on them, and _⌊they will seize one another's hand_⌋,* and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of _⌊another_⌋.*

² If you will not listen, and if you will not _⌊take it to heart_⌋* to give glory to my name," says Yahweh of hosts, "then I will send the curse on you, and I will curse your blessings; moreover I have already cursed them because _⌊you are not taking it to heart_⌋.*

³⁶ The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who disobeys the Son will not see life—but the wrath of God remains on him.*

¹⁶ hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles in order that they may be saved, so that they always fill up their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the end.*
