Having begun by the Spirit, are you now trying to be made complete by the flesh? ⁴ Have you suffered so many things for nothing—if indeed also it was for nothing? ⁵ Therefore does the one who gives you the Spirit and who works miracles among you do so by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

¹⁴ Do not neglect the gift that is in you, that was granted to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.

²² Lay hands on no one hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

⁶ for which reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands.
