¹ Now the boy Samuel was serving Yahweh _⌊in the presence_⌋* of Eli. The word of Yahweh was rare in those days; visions were not widespread. ² _⌊And then_⌋* one day when Eli was lying in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow weak so that he was not able to see) ³ and the lamp of God had not yet gone out, Samuel was lying in the temple* of Yahweh where the ark of God was. ⁴ Then Yahweh called out to Samuel and he said, "Here I am!" ⁵ And he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am, because you called me." But he said, "I did not call you. Go back and lie down." So he went and lay down. ⁶ And Yahweh called Samuel again, so Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, because you called me." And he said, "I did not call you, my son. Go back and lie down." ⁷ Now Samuel did not yet know Yahweh, and the word of Yahweh had not yet been revealed to him. ⁸ Again Yahweh called Samuel a third time, so he got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, because you called me." Then Eli realized that Yahweh was calling the boy. ⁹ So Eli said to Samuel "Go lie down. _⌊If he calls_⌋* to you, then you must say, 'Speak Yahweh, because your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. ¹⁰ Then Yahweh came and stood there and called out _⌊as before_⌋,* "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, because your servant is listening." ¹¹ So Yahweh said to Samuel, "Look, I am doing something in Israel _⌊which will cause_⌋* the two ears of everyone who hears it to tingle. ¹² On that day I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken against his household, _⌊from beginning to end_⌋.* ¹³ I will make him know that I am about to judge his household forever because of the iniquity that he knew, for his sons were bringing curses on themselves,* but he did not rebuke them. ¹⁴ Therefore I swore to the house of Eli that the iniquity of the house of Eli would not be atoned for* by sacrifice or by offering forever." ¹⁵ So Samuel lay down until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, but Samuel was afraid of telling the vision to Eli. ¹⁶ Then Eli called Samuel and said, "Samuel, my son!" And he said, "Here I am." ¹⁷ And he said, "What is the message* that he spoke to you? Please do not conceal it from me. May God _⌊punish you severely_⌋* if you conceal anything from me of all the words that he told you." ¹⁸ So Samuel told him all the words and did not conceal anything from him. And he* said, "He is Yahweh, he will do _⌊what is_⌋* good in his _⌊sight_⌋."* ¹⁹ And Samuel grew up, and Yahweh was with him. _⌊He did not allow any of his prophecies to go unfulfilled_⌋.* ²⁰ All Israel from Dan to Beersheba realized that Samuel was faithful* as a prophet to Yahweh. ²¹ And Yahweh appeared again in Shiloh, for Yahweh revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh through the word of Yahweh.

¹¹ Then Elkanah went to Ramah, to his house. Now the boy was serving Yahweh _⌊in the presence of_⌋* Eli the priest.

¹⁸ Now Samuel was serving before Yahweh, as a boy wearing a linen ephod.

¹⁵ So Samuel lay down until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, but Samuel was afraid of telling the vision to Eli.

²¹ And Yahweh appeared again in Shiloh, for Yahweh revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh through the word of Yahweh.

⁹ We do not see our signs, and there is no longer a prophet. No one with us knows how long.

¹² I will make humanity more rare than gold and humankind more than the gold of Ophir.

¹¹ Look, the days are coming," _⌊declares_⌋* my Lord Yahweh, "when I will send a famine in the land, not a famine for bread and not a thirst for water, but _⌊of hearing_⌋* the words of Yahweh! ¹² And they will wander from sea to sea and from the north and to the east. They will roam about to seek the word of Yahweh, but they will not find it!

¹ And it happened that when Isaac was old and _⌊his eyesight was weak_⌋,* he called Esau his older son and said to him, "My son." And he* said to him, "Here I am."

¹⁰ Now the eyes of Israel were dim* on account of old age; he was not able to see. So he brought them near to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.

¹⁹ But his father refused and said, "I know, my son; I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great, but his younger brother shall be greater than him, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations."

²² Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel and that they were having sexual relations with the women who were serving at the entrance of the tent of assembly.*

¹⁵ Now Eli was _⌊ninety-eight years old_⌋* and his eyes _⌊stayed fixed ahead_⌋* and he was not able to see.

¹⁰ As for the days of our years, within them are seventy years or if by strength eighty years, and their pride* is trouble and disaster, for it passes quickly and we fly away.

³ When the guards of the house tremble, and the men of strength are bent; the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows see dimly.

²⁰ "And you will command the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and they will bring to you pure, beaten olive oil for the light, to cause a lamp to burn continually. ²¹ In the tent of assembly outside the curtain that is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons will arrange it, from evening until morning, before Yahweh as a lasting statute throughout their generations from the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

⁷ "And on it Aaron will turn fragrant incense into smoke; _⌊each morning_⌋* when he tends the lamps, he will turn it into smoke. ⁸ And when Aaron sets up the lamps _⌊at twilight_⌋,* he will turn it into smoke—incense of continuity—before Yahweh throughout your generations.

² "Command the _⌊Israelites_⌋* that* they should bring pure olive oil from beaten olives for the light to _⌊present_⌋* a lamp continually. ³ Aaron shall arrange for it _⌊outside_⌋* the curtain of the testimony in the tent of assembly from evening until morning _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh continually; it shall be a _⌊lasting statute_⌋* throughout your generations. ⁴ On the pure golden* lampstand he shall arrange for the lamps _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh continually.

⁶ (Now her rival wife would provoke her severely in order to upset her because Yahweh had closed her womb.)

¹¹ They offer burnt offerings to Yahweh _⌊every morning_⌋* and _⌊every evening_⌋,* sweet spices of incense, and the rows of bread upon the pure table. And the golden lampstand with its lamps they keep kindled _⌊every evening_⌋,* for we are keeping the requirement of Yahweh our God, but you yourselves have forsaken him.

⁷ _⌊But as for me_⌋,* through the abundance of your steadfast love* I will enter your house.* I will bow down* toward _⌊your holy temple_⌋* in awe of you.

⁴ One thing I have asked from Yahweh; it I will seek: that I may dwell in the house* of Yahweh all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Yahweh, and to consider* his temple.

⁹ The voice of Yahweh causes deer* to give birth and strips the forests bare. And at his temple all in it say, "Glory!"

¹ And it happened that after these things, God tested Abraham. And he said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."

⁴ And Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the midst of the bush, and he said, "Moses, Moses." And he said, "Here I am."

⁶ Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also was among those who called on his name. They called to Yahweh, and he answered them.

⁸ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said,
"I am here! Send me!"

⁴ And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?"

⁶ and there are varieties of activities, but the same God, who works all things in all people. ⁷ But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for what is beneficial to all. ⁸ For to one is given a word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another a word of knowledge by the same Spirit, ⁹ to another faith by the same Spirit, to another* gifts of healing by the one Spirit, ¹⁰ to another* _⌊miraculous powers_⌋*, to another* prophecy, to another* distinguishing of spirits, to another kinds of tongues, to another* interpretation of tongues. ¹¹ But in all these things one and the same Spirit is at work, distributing to each one individually just as he wishes.

²⁸ and whom God has appointed in the church: first, apostles, second, prophets, third, teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, kinds of tongues.

¹⁵ But when the one who set me apart* from my mother's womb and called me by his grace was pleased ¹⁶ to reveal his Son in me in order that I would proclaim the gospel about him among the Gentiles, immediately I did not consult with flesh and blood,

²⁹ Then he lifted up his eyes and saw Benjamin his brother, the son of his mother, and said, "Is this your youngest brother of whom you told me?" And he continued,* "God be gracious to you, my son."

¹⁶ And the man said to Eli, "I am the one who has come from the battle line! I have fled today from the battle line!" And he said, "_⌊What exactly happened_⌋,* my son?"

²² Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok again said to Joab, "_⌊Come what may_⌋,* please let me also run after the Cushite." Joab asked, "Why are you wanting to run, my son, when for you there is no _⌊messenger's reward_⌋?"*

² And behold, they brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher, and when* Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Have courage, child, your sins are forgiven."

²⁴ _⌊But only_⌋* in this must the one who boasts boast, that he has insight, and that he knows me, that I am Yahweh, showing loyal love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for in these things I delight," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

² And he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you* believed?" And they said to him, "But we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit!"

¹⁴ Indeed, God speaks in one way, even* in two,* yet someone does not perceive it. ¹⁵ "In a dream, a vision of the night, when a deep sleep falls on men slumbering on their bed,

¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside the things of a child. ¹² For now we see through a mirror _⌊indirectly_⌋*, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know completely, just as I have also been completely known.

¹⁹ And they said to Moses, "You speak with us, and we will listen, but let not God speak with us, lest we die."

⁸ I will hear what God, Yahweh, will speak, because he will speak peace to his people, even his faithful ones,* but let them not return to folly.

¹⁹ And he said, "You must not fear, O beloved man. _⌊Peace be to you_⌋;* be strong and be courageous!" And _⌊when he spoke_⌋* with me, I was strengthened and I said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

⁶ But get up and enter into the city, and it will be told to you _⌊what you must do_⌋."*

⁴ Then Yahweh called out to Samuel and he said, "Here I am!" ⁵ And he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am, because you called me." But he said, "I did not call you. Go back and lie down." So he went and lay down. ⁶ And Yahweh called Samuel again, so Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, because you called me." And he said, "I did not call you, my son. Go back and lie down."

⁸ Again Yahweh called Samuel a third time, so he got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, because you called me." Then Eli realized that Yahweh was calling the boy.

¹² therefore, thus says Yahweh the God of Israel, 'Look, I am bringing disaster upon Jerusalem and Judah about which the two ears of all who hear it will tingle.

¹⁹ _⌊As often as it passes through_⌋,* it will take you, for _⌊morning by morning_⌋* it will pass through, in the day and in the night,
and understanding the message will be only terror."

¹⁴ therefore look, I am again doing something spectacular
and a spectacle with this spectacular people. And the wisdom of its wise men shall perish, and the discernment of its discerning ones shall keep itself hidden."

³ And you shall say, 'Hear the word of Yahweh, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: "Look, I am about to bring disaster upon this place so that _⌊everyone who hears it_⌋,* his ears will ring.

⁶ Or is a horn blown in a city and people are not afraid? Or does a disaster occur in the city and Yahweh has not done it? ⁷ Surely my Lord does not do anything unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets.

⁵ "Look among the nations and see; be astonished and astounded. For a work is about to be done in your days that you will not believe if it is told.

²⁶ people fainting from fear and expectation of what is coming on the inhabited earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.*

⁴¹ 'Look, you scoffers, and be astonished and perish! For I am doing a work in your days, a work that you would never believe even if someone were to tell it* to you.'"*

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of humankind, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? And has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

¹⁵ But just as all the good things* came to you that Yahweh your God promised, so will Yahweh bring to you all the bad things* until he has destroyed you from this good land that Yahweh your God has given to you.

²⁷ Now a man of God came to Eli and said to him: "Thus says Yahweh: 'Did I not clearly reveal myself to the house of your ancestor* when they were in Egypt under the house of Pharaoh? ²⁸ And I chose him from all the tribes of Israel to be a priest to me, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, and to bear an ephod before me. I gave to the house of your ancestor* all the offerings made by fire by the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ²⁹ Why do you despise my sacrifice and my offering which I commanded for my dwelling place, while you honored your sons more than me by making yourselves fat from the best of all the offerings of my people Israel? ³⁰ Therefore,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh the God of Israel, 'though I solemnly said that your house and the house of your ancestor* would walk before me forever, but now,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me, I will treat with contempt! ³¹ Look, days are coming when I will cut off your _⌊strength_⌋* and the _⌊strength_⌋* of the house of your ancestor* _⌊so that no one in your house will live to old age_⌋.* ³² You will look at the distress of my dwelling place, despite all the good caused for Israel, but there will never be an old man in your household _⌊forever_⌋!* ³³ The only one I will not cut off from my altar is you.* Rather, to cause your eyes to fail and to cause your soul to grieve, _⌊all the members of your household_⌋* will die as men.* ³⁴ This is the sign for you that will come regarding your two sons Hophni and Phinehas: they will both die on the same day! ³⁵ But I will raise up for myself a reliable* priest; he will do just according to what is in my heart and in my soul. I will build for him a lasting* house and he will walk continually before my anointed one _⌊forever_⌋.* ³⁶ All the remainder of your household will come to bow down _⌊before_⌋* him for a bit of silver or a loaf of bread and will say, "Please assign me to one of the _⌊priestly offices_⌋* so that I can eat a morsel of bread." '"

⁶ However, did not my words and my regulations which I commanded my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors?* And they repented and said, 'Yahweh of hosts planned to do with us according to our ways, and according to our deeds so he has dealt with us.'" '"

³³ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

¹² Now the sons of Eli were _⌊worthless scoundrels_⌋;* they did not know* Yahweh.

¹⁷ So the sin of the young men was very great in the sight of Yahweh, because the men treated the offering of Yahweh with contempt.

²² Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel and that they were having sexual relations with the women who were serving at the entrance of the tent of assembly.* ²³ And he asked them, "Why are you doing all these things that I am hearing, namely, your evil dealings with all these people? ²⁴ No, my sons, the report is not good that I am hearing the people of Yahweh spreading. ²⁵ If a man sins against a man, then God can intercede for him. But if a man sins against Yahweh, who can intercede for him?" But they did not _⌊obey_⌋* their father, because Yahweh wanted to kill them. ²⁶ But the boy Samuel _⌊continued to grow in stature and in favor_⌋* with Yahweh and with the people.

⁶ His father did not rebuke him _⌊at any time_⌋* by saying, "Why did you do so?" Now he was also very handsome of appearance; she had borne him after Absalom.*

⁴⁴ Then the king said to Shimei, "You know all the evil which your heart knows, what you did to David my father. Now Yahweh will return the evil on your head,

¹² O our God, will you not judge them, for there is no power in us before this great multitude that is coming against us. Now we do not know what we shall do, for our eyes are upon you."

¹⁸ Discipline your child, for there is hope, but on his destruction do not set your desire.*

¹³ Do not withhold discipline from a child, if you will beat him with the rod, he will not die. ¹⁴ As for you, with the rod you shall beat him, and his life* you will save from Sheol.*

¹⁵ As for a rod and reproof, they* will give wisdom, but a neglected child is disgraced by his mother.

²² For your heart knows that you also have cursed others many times.

³ Now the end is on you, and I will send my anger on you, and I will judge you according to your ways, and I will bring on you all your detestable things.

³⁰ "Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, each one* according to his ways," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. "Repent* and turn around from all of your transgression, and it will not be as a stumbling block of iniquity to you.

¹² Let the nations be roused and let them come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations from all around.

³⁷ The one who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and the one who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

²⁰ that* if our heart condemns us, that God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

³¹ "And you shall keep the _⌊Israelites_⌋* separate from their uncleanness so that they might not die because of* their uncleanness by their making my tabernacle, which is in their midst, unclean.

³⁰ But the one _⌊who acts presumptuously_⌋* from among the native or alien blasphemes against Yahweh, and that person must be cut off from the midst of the people. ³¹ Because he despised the word of Yahweh and broke his command, that person will be surely cut off and bear the guilt.'"

²⁵ If a man sins against a man, then God can intercede for him. But if a man sins against Yahweh, who can intercede for him?" But they did not _⌊obey_⌋* their father, because Yahweh wanted to kill them.

¹⁶ For you do not delight in sacrifice or I would give it. With a burnt offering you are not pleased.

¹⁴ And it was revealed in my ears by Yahweh of hosts:
"Surely this sin will not be atoned for you until you die!" says the Lord, Yahweh of hosts.

¹⁶ "And you, you must not pray for this people, and you must not lift up for them a cry of entreaty or a prayer, and you must not plead with me, for I will not hear you.

¹ Then Yahweh said to me, "Even if Moses and Samuel stood _⌊before me_⌋,* my heart would not be to this people. Send them away from my _⌊sight_⌋,* and let them go out.

¹³ In your uncleanness is obscene conduct, because I cleansed you, but you were not clean from your uncleanness; you will not be clean again until _⌊I fully vent my rage_⌋* on you.

⁴ For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when he* came into the world, he said,
"Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but a body you prepared for me; ⁶ you did not delight in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sins. ⁷ Then I said, 'Behold, I have come— in the roll of the book it is written about me— to do your will, O God.' ⁸ When he says above,
"Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin you did not want, nor did you delight in,"*
which are offered according to the law, ⁹ then he has said,
"Behold, I have come to do your will."*
He takes away the first in order to establish the second, ¹⁰ by which will we are made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

²⁶ For if* we keep on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that is about to consume the adversaries. ²⁸ Anyone who rejected the law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. ²⁹ How much worse punishment do you think the person will be considered worthy of who treats with disdain the Son of God and who considers ordinary the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy and who insults the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know the one who said,
"Vengeance is mine, I will repay,"*
and again,
"The Lord will judge his people."* ³¹ It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

⁹ Then Hannah got up after eating and drinking at Shiloh. (Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the temple* of Yahweh.)

⁶ Then I said, "Ah, Lord Yahweh! Look, I do not know how to speak, for I am a youth."* ⁷ But Yahweh said to me, "You must not say, 'I am a youth,'* for to _⌊whomever_⌋* I send you, you will go, and _⌊whatever_⌋* I command you, you will speak. ⁸ _⌊Do not be afraid of them_⌋,* for I am with you to deliver you," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁰ "Who also among you will shut the temple doors so that you will not kindle fire in vain on my altar? I take no pleasure in you," says Yahweh of hosts, "and _⌊I will not accept_⌋* an offering from your hand.

¹⁰ But if Timothy comes, see that he is with you without cause to fear, for he is carrying out the Lord's work, as I also am. ¹¹ Therefore do not let anyone disdain him, but send him on his way in peace in order that he may come to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.

¹⁷ Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. So may Yahweh do to me, _⌊and even more, unless_⌋* death _⌊separates you and me_⌋!"*

¹³ _⌊So may Yahweh punish Jonathan and more_⌋* if _⌊my father decides to do you harm_⌋* and if _⌊I fail to disclose it to you_⌋* and send word to you that you can go safely. And may Yahweh be with you, as he has been with my father.

³⁵ Then all the people came to give David food. Still on that day, David swore, "_⌊May God punish me_⌋* if I taste food or anything before the sun goes down."

¹³ To Amasa you shall say: 'Are you not my bones and my flesh? _⌊May God punish me_⌋* if you are not the commander of my army before me forever, in place of Joab.'"

¹⁶ Then the king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear that you shall not tell me anything but truth in the name of Yahweh?"

⁵ Let a righteous one strike me in kindness, and let him chasten me. It is oil for my head;* let not my head refuse. For still my prayer is against their evil deeds.

¹⁹ "Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was distressed _⌊for some time_⌋,* and his thoughts disturbed him. The king answered and he said, 'Belteshazzar, let the dream and its explanation not disturb you.' Belteshazzar answered and said, 'My lord, may the dream and its explanation be for those who hate you and for your enemies.

⁷ Should this be said, O house of Jacob? Is the patience* of Yahweh shortened? Are these his deeds? Are my words not pleasing to him who walks upright?

⁶³ But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath by the living God, that you tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God!"

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill the righteous with the wicked, that* the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?"

¹⁵ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* said to Yahweh, "We have sinned; _⌊do to us accordingly as you see fit_⌋;* only please deliver us this day."

¹⁰ The king said, "_⌊What do we have in common_⌋,* sons of Zeruiah? If* he curses because Yahweh has said to him 'Curse David,' who can say, "Why have you done this?" ¹¹ David said to Abishai and to all his servants, "Look, my son who came out of my loins* is seeking my life. Now _⌊as far as_⌋* this Benjaminite, leave him alone and let him curse, for Yahweh has spoken to him. ¹² Perhaps Yahweh will look _⌊in my eye_⌋* and repay good for me in place of his curse this day.

²¹ Then* he said, "Naked I came out from my mother's womb, and naked I will return there. Yahweh gives, and Yahweh takes. Let Yahweh's name be blessed."

¹⁰ So* he said to her, "You speak like one of the foolish women speaks. Indeed, should we receive the good from God, but* not receive the evil?" In all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

⁹ I am mute. I do not open my mouth, for you, yourself, have done it.

⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The word of Yahweh that you have spoken is good," for* he _⌊thought_⌋,* "Surely there will be peace and security in my days."

³⁹ Why should any living person complain about his sin?

⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the right time,

²² And it happened that at that time, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, said to Abraham, "God is with you, in all that you do.

² And Yahweh was with Joseph, and he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian.

²¹ And Yahweh was with Joseph, and showed loyal love to him, and gave him favor in the eyes of the chief of the prison. ²² And the chief of the prison put all the prisoners that were in the prison into the hand of Joseph. And everything that was done there, he was the one who did it. ²³ The chief of the prison _⌊did not worry about_⌋* anything in his* hand, since Yahweh was with him. And whatever he did Yahweh made it successful.

²⁴ The woman bore a son, and she called him Samson; the boy grew big, and Yahweh blessed him.

²¹ Yahweh took note of Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters, while the young man Samuel grew up with Yahweh.

⁶ But he* said to him, "Look, a man of God is in this town, and the man is honored. All that he says certainly comes true. So then let us go there; perhaps he will tell us about our journey on which we have gone."

¹⁴ And David was achieving success in all his ways and Yahweh was with him,

⁵⁶ "Blessed be Yahweh who gave a resting place to his people Israel. According to all that he promised, not one word has fallen from all of his promises concerning the good which he spoke through the hand of Moses his servant.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not flow over you. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not scorch* you.

²⁶ who keeps* the word of his servant and carries out the plan of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, 'It shall be inhabited,' and of the cities of Judah, 'They shall be rebuilt, and I will restore its ruins';

²³ "Behold, the virgin _⌊will become pregnant_⌋* and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel,"*
which is translated, "God with us."*

²⁸ And he came to her and* said, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you."

⁸⁰ And the child kept growing and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

⁴⁰ And the child was growing and becoming strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.

⁵² And Jesus was advancing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with people.

¹¹ Finally, brothers, rejoice, be restored, be encouraged, _⌊be in agreement_⌋*, be at peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

²² The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.

¹ All the _⌊Israelites_⌋* went out, from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and they gathered as one body* to Yahweh at Mizpah.

¹⁰ specifically, to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and to establish the throne of David over Israel and over Judah from Dan to Beersheba!"

¹¹ I give the advice that all of Israel from Dan to Beersheba should be completely gathered to you, as the sand which is on the seashore for abundance, with _⌊you personally_⌋* going into the battle.

¹² _⌊I give thanks_⌋* to the one who strengthens me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me faithful, placing me into ministry,*

⁷ And Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." And he built an altar there to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.

¹ After these things the word of Yahweh came* to Abram in a vision, saying: "Do not be afraid, Abram; I am your shield, and your reward shall be very great."

⁶ and he said,
"Please hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak to him in a dream.*

¹ Now the boy Samuel was serving Yahweh _⌊in the presence_⌋* of Eli. The word of Yahweh was rare in those days; visions were not widespread.

⁴ Then Yahweh called out to Samuel and he said, "Here I am!"

¹⁰ Then Yahweh came and stood there and called out _⌊as before_⌋,* "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, because your servant is listening."

⁷ Surely my Lord does not do anything unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets.
