¹⁸ and for the altar of incense made of refined gold, by weight, and gold for the plan for the chariot—the cherubim with outspread and covering wings over the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.

¹⁸ And you will make two cherubim of gold; you will make them of hammered work at the two ends of the atonement cover. ¹⁹ And make one cherub _⌊at one end_⌋* and one cherub _⌊at the other end_⌋* of the atonement cover; you will make the cherubim on its two ends. ²⁰ And the cherubim will be with outspread wings above, covering with their wings over the atonement cover _⌊and facing each other_⌋;* the faces of the cherubim will be toward the atonement cover. ²¹ And you will put the atonement cover above onto the ark, and into the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. ²² And I will meet you there, and I will speak with you from over the atonement cover, from between the two cherubim that are to be on the ark of the testimony—all that I will command you to the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

¹ "And you will make an altar for burning incense; you will make it of acacia wood, ² a cubit its length and a cubit its width—it will be square—and two cubits its height, its horns _⌊of one piece with it_⌋.* ³ And you will overlay it with pure gold, its top and its sides all around and its horns, and you will make for it a gold molding all around. ⁴ And you will make two gold rings for it; under its molding _⌊on two opposite sides_⌋* you will make them as _⌊holders_⌋* for poles to carry it with them. ⁵ You will make the poles of acacia wood, and you will overlay them with gold. ⁶ And you will put it before the curtain that is upon the ark of the testimony, before the atonement cover, which is on the testimony, there where I will meet with you. ⁷ "And on it Aaron will turn fragrant incense into smoke; _⌊each morning_⌋* when he tends the lamps, he will turn it into smoke. ⁸ And when Aaron sets up the lamps _⌊at twilight_⌋,* he will turn it into smoke—incense of continuity—before Yahweh throughout your generations. ⁹ You will not offer on it strange incense or a burnt offering or a grain offering, and you will not pour a libation on it. ¹⁰ And Aaron will make atonement on its horns one time in the year from the blood of the sin offering of the atonement; one time in the year he will make atonement on it throughout your generations; it is a most holy thing for Yahweh."

⁴ So the army sent to Shiloh and brought from there the ark of the covenant of Yahweh of hosts who sits between the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

²³ He made two cherubim of olive wood for the inner sanctuary, ten cubits high. ²⁴ Five cubits was the first wing of the cherub, and five cubits the second wing of the cherub, from the tip of his one wing up to the tip of his other wing. ²⁵ The second cherub was ten cubits according to _⌊the same_⌋* measurement, and there was one shape for the two cherubim. ²⁶ The height of the first cherub was ten cubits and so was the second cherub. ²⁷ He placed the cherubim in the middle of the inner house, and they spread out the wings of the cherubim; the wing of the first cherub touched against the wall and the wing of the second cherub was touching against the second wall; their wings spread to the middle of the house and were touching wing to wing. ²⁸ He also overlaid the cherubim with gold. ²⁹ On all of the walls around the house, he carved engravings of cherubim and palm tree images and budding flowers both inside and out. ³⁰ He overlaid the floor of the house with gold both inside and out.

⁴⁸ Solomon also made all of the vessels which were in the house of Yahweh: the golden altar and the golden table on which was the bread of the presence;

Give ear, O shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock. Shine forth, you who sits enthroned above the cherubim.

¹ Yahweh is king; let the peoples tremble. He sits enthroned* between the cherubim. Let the earth shake.

¹⁵ And I saw the living creatures, and look! A wheel was on the earth* beside _⌊each of the living creatures that had four faces_⌋.* ¹⁶ The appearance of the wheels and their construction was like the appearance of beryl,* and _⌊they all looked alike_⌋,* and their appearance and their construction was _⌊like a wheel within a wheel_⌋.* ¹⁷ When they moved, they went toward their four sides; they did not _⌊veer at all as they went_⌋.* ¹⁸ And their rims _⌊were high and awesome_⌋,* and _⌊all four of_⌋* their rims were full of eyes all around. ¹⁹ And at the going of the living creatures, the wheels next to them also went, and _⌊when the creatures were lifted from the ground_⌋* the wheels also rose. ²⁰ _⌊Wherever_⌋* the spirit went they would go there, and the wheels rose, for the spirit of the living creatures* was in the wheels. ²¹ At their* going, they* go, and at their standing, they stood, and at their being lifted up from on the earth,* the wheels rose,* for the spirit of the living creatures* was in the wheels. ²² Now* the likeness above the heads of the living creatures was an expanse like the outward appearance of _⌊awesome_⌋* _⌊ice_⌋* spread out above their heads _⌊upward_⌋.* ²³ And under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight _⌊one toward the other_⌋;* each had two wings covering them, and each had two wings covering their bodies. ²⁴ And I heard the sound of their wings like the sound of many waters, like the voice of Shaddai,* and _⌊when they moved_⌋* there was a sound of tumult like the sound of an army; _⌊when they stood still_⌋* they lowered their wings.

² And he spoke* to the man clothed in linen and said, "Go _⌊in among the wheel area under the cherubim_⌋* and fill the hollow of your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and toss them on the city." And he went right before my eyes. ³ Now* the cherubim were standing on the south of the temple _⌊when the man went_⌋,* and the cloud filled the inner courtyard. ⁴ And the glory of Yahweh rose up from on the cherub toward* the threshold of the house,* and the house* was filled with the cloud, and the courtyard was filled with the brightness of the glory of Yahweh. ⁵ And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard _⌊as far as_⌋* the outer courtyard; it was like the voice of God Shaddai* _⌊when he speaks_⌋.* ⁶ And then at his command* to the man clothed in linen, _⌊saying_⌋,* "Take fire from among the wheel area from among the cherubim," he went and stood beside the wheel. ⁷ Then the cherub stretched out his hand from among* the cherubim toward the fire that was among* the cherubim, and he lifted up and gave* it into the hollow of the hand of the man clothed with linen, and he took it, and he went out. ⁸ And there appeared for* the cherubim the form of _⌊a human hand_⌋* under their wings. ⁹ And I saw, and look, four wheels beside the cherubim, _⌊one wheel beside each cherub_⌋,* and the appearance of the wheels was like the outward appearance of _⌊turquoise stone_⌋.* ¹⁰ Their appearance* _⌊was the same for each of the four of them_⌋,* as if the wheel was in the midst of a wheel. ¹¹ _⌊When they went_⌋* to the four of their directions that they went, they did not change direction _⌊when they went_⌋,* for the place to which the head* turned, they went behind him; they did not change direction at their going. ¹² And _⌊their whole body_⌋,* and their rims, and their spokes, and their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around—_⌊the wheels for the four of them_⌋.* ¹³ Concerning the wheels, he was calling them "the wheelwork" _⌊in my hearing_⌋.* ¹⁴ And _⌊each one had four faces_⌋;* the face of the one was the face of a cherub, and the face of the second was the face of a human, and the face of the third was the face of a lion, and the fourth was the face of an eagle. ¹⁵ And the cherubim rose; that is, the living creatures* that I saw at the _⌊Kebar River_⌋.* ¹⁶ And _⌊when the cherubim went_⌋,* the wheels beside them went; and _⌊when the cherubim lifted their wings to rise up from the earth_⌋,* the wheels also did not turn aside from beside them. ¹⁷ _⌊When they stood_⌋,* they stood, and at their rising, they rose with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in them. ¹⁸ And the glory of Yahweh went out from* the threshold of the temple, and it stood above the cherubim. ¹⁹ And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and they rose from the earth before my eyes. At their going out, the wheels were* beside them. And he stood at the doorway of the eastern gate of the temple* of Yahweh, and the glory of the God of Israel _⌊was over them_⌋.* ²⁰ This was* the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel at the _⌊Kebar River_⌋,* and I knew that they were cherubim. ²¹ _⌊Each one had four faces_⌋,* and there were four wings for each, and the likeness of _⌊human hands_⌋* was under their wings. ²² And the likeness of their faces, they were the faces that I saw at the _⌊Kebar River_⌋;* thus was their appearance, and they each went _⌊straight ahead_⌋.*
