² You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon.

¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not you my work in the Lord? ² If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are you in the Lord.

³ I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that you are in our hearts to die and live with you.

¹¹ Why? because I love you not? God knows.

¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

⁷ Just as it is suitable for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of my grace. ⁸ For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
