¹⁵ Let not the floodwater overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.

³³ They, and all that belonged to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

¹⁰ For you will not leave my soul in sheol; neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.

⁴ I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that has no strength: ⁵ Adrift among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom you remember no more: and they are cut off from your hand. ⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deep.

⁴ Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul: ⁵ Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

¹ But now thus says the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame scorch you.

² And said, I cried by reason of my affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of sheol cried I, and you heard my voice. ³ For you had cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods surrounded me: all your billows and your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, I am cast out of your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple. ⁵ The waters surrounded me, even to the soul: the deep closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. ⁶ I went down to the foundations of the mountains; the earth with her bars closed about me forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God. ⁷ When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto you, into your holy temple.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²⁴ Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be held by it.

³¹ He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hades, neither his flesh did see corruption.
