Psalms 44 Cross References - KJ2000

1 [To the Chief Musician for the Sons of Korah, a maschil.] We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old. 2 How you did drive out the nations with your hand, and planted them; how you did afflict the people, and cast them out. 3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you had favor unto them. 4 You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. 5 Through you will we push down our enemies: through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 7 But you have saved us from our enemies, and have put them to shame that hated us. 8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise your name forever. Selah. 9 But you have cast off, and put us to shame; and go not forth with our armies. 10 You make us to turn back from the enemy: and they who hate us take spoil for themselves. 11 You have given us like sheep appointed for food; and have scattered us among the nations. 12 You sell your people for nothing, and do not increase your wealth by their price. 13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. 14 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people. 15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, 16 For the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes; because of the enemy and avenger. 17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten you, neither have we dealt falsely in your covenant. 18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from your way; 19 Though you have severely broken us in the place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death. 20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; 21 Shall not God search this out? for he knows the secrets of the heart. 22 Yea, for your sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. 23 Awake, why sleep you, O Lord? arise, cast us not off forever. 24 Why hide you your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression? 25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our body cleaves unto the earth. 26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for your mercies' sake.

29 I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches.

Job 31:4

4 Does not he see my ways, and count all my steps? 5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot has hastened to deceit; 6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity. 7 If my step has turned out of the way, and my heart walked after my eyes, and if any spot has cleaved to my hands; 8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out. 9 If my heart has been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door; 10 Then let my wife grind for another, and let others bow down upon her. 11 For this is a heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges. 12 For it is a fire that consumes to destruction, and would root out all my increase. 13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me; 14 What then shall I do when God rises up? and when he comes, what shall I answer him?

Job 31:14

14 What then shall I do when God rises up? and when he comes, what shall I answer him? 15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb? 16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; 17 Or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it; 18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided him from my mother’s womb;) 19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; 20 If his heart has not blessed me, and if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep; 21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw I had help in the gate: 22 Then let my arm fall from my shoulder blade, and my arm be broken from its socket. 23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his majesty I could not endure. 24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; 25 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much; 26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in brightness; 27 And my heart has been secretly enticed, or my mouth has kissed my hand: 28 This also would be an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. 29 If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him: 30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul. 31 If the men of my tent have not, Oh that we had of his meat! we cannot be satisfied. 32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveler. 33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom: 34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door? 35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that my adversary had written a book. 36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me. 37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him. 38 If my land cries against me, and its furrows likewise complain; 39 If I have eaten its fruit without payment, or have caused its owners to lose their life: 40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and weeds instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he sees all his steps. 22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

1 [To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] O LORD, you have searched me, and known me. 2 You know my downsitting and my uprising, you understand my thought afar off. 3 You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, you know it altogether. 5 You have hedged me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? or where shall I flee from your presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, you are there: if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hides not from you; but the night shines as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to you. 13 For you have formed my inward parts: you have covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well. 15 My frame was not hid from you, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes did see my substance, being yet unformed; and in your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious also are your thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with you. 19 Surely you will slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, you bloody men. 20 For they speak against you wickedly, and your enemies take your name in vain. 21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate you? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against you? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Lamentations 2:15-17

15 All that pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? 16 All your enemies have opened their mouth against you: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it. 17 The LORD has done that which he had purposed; he has fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he has thrown down, and has not pitied: and he has caused your enemy to rejoice over you, he has set up the might of your adversaries.

I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
