⁴ And they said one to another, Let us choose a leader, and let us return into Egypt.

¹⁶ But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: since as the LORD has said unto you, you shall return no more that way again.

⁶⁸ And the LORD shall bring you into Egypt again in ships, by the way of which I spoke unto you, You shall see it no more again: and there you shall be sold unto your enemies as male and female slaves, and no man shall buy you.

¹⁶ But they and our fathers acted presumptuously, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to your commandments, ¹⁷ And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

¹⁵ And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from which they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
