² And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his teaching,

⁴ I will incline my ear to a proverb: I will disclose my riddles upon the harp.

² I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his teachings:

³ And he spoke many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

¹⁰ And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why do you speak unto them in parables?

³⁴ All these things spoke Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spoke he not unto them: ³⁵ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

²³ And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

¹¹ And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are outside, all these things are done in parables:

³³ And with many such parables he spoke the word unto them, as they were able to hear it. ³⁴ But without a parable he spoke not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

³⁸ And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, who love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

¹⁶ Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. ¹⁷ If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

¹⁹ The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
