²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

³⁴ And when he had come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter. ³⁵ And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.

¹³ For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then would I have been at rest, ¹⁴ With kings and counselors of the earth, who built desolate places for themselves; ¹⁵ Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver: ¹⁶ Or as a hidden untimely birth, I had not been; as infants who never saw light. ¹⁷ There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary are at rest. ¹⁸ There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor. ¹⁹ The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

¹³ They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

³⁰ That the wicked are reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath. ³¹ Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he has done? ³² Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

⁶ They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; ⁷ None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: ⁸ (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases forever:) ⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption. ¹⁰ For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others. ¹¹ Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. ¹² Nevertheless man being in honor abides not: he is like the beasts that perish.

¹⁶ Be not afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; ¹⁷ For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. ¹⁸ Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise you, when you do well for yourself. ¹⁹ He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

¹⁸ Surely you did set them in slippery places: you cast them down into destruction. ¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when you awake, you shall despise their image.

¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. ¹² They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

³² The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous has hope in his death.

¹⁰ And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the holy place, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.

¹⁸ All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, everyone in his own tomb.

¹⁶ What have you here? and whom have you here, that you have hewed you out a sepulcher here, as he that hews him out a sepulcher on high, and that carves a tomb for himself in a rock?

¹ The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. ² He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

¹¹ And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

³⁸ The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; ³⁹ The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. ⁴¹ The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; ⁴² And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. ⁴³ Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁰ Take heed that you despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

³¹ And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own life?

²⁰ But God said unto him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have prepared?

²³ Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

²⁰ Then Peter, turning about, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, who is he that betrays you?

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister to them who shall be heirs of salvation?

¹⁴ Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beauty of the appearance of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.

¹³ And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on: Yea, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
